The impact of Social Media Influencers on Sales

The way social media influencers directly or indirectly influence publicity and promotion somehow also influence the sales of a brand. Some of the ways in which social media influencers impact sales are:

1. Help in Consumer Research Phase:

Nowadays, market is mostly “consumer-oriented”. Consumers search and research, read reviews about a brand and hence they want someone trusted and experts who will voice their opinions, concerns and recommendations. Influencers play a vital role in spreading the word of mouth and recommendations thereby increasing sales.

2.Help in increasing Return on Investment:

Social Media Influencers help in achieving a relatively high Return on Investments than other factors. It is because of low capital investment. Other forms of advertisement or marketing tools require huge capital whereas dealings with Social media Influencer can be fixed just on a simple phone call.

3.Content Creation helps in increased Sales:

Influencers create meaningful and exciting content that sometimes evoke interest in the viewer to buy the product. Apart from this, Influencers also work on multiple social media accounts and this helps them to reach wide and diverse audience. This is also very helpful for increasing sales in a business.

In a recent survey by Mediakix, a famous influencer marketing agency, about 89% of respondents say Return on Investment from Social Media Influencers is better than other channels.

In another survey by Tint, 71% of respondents told that they rely on social media referrals for purchase decisions.

Some Examples:

1) Glossier, USA.

The USA based beauty brand has built its brand image by entirely relying on Social Media Influencers and other forms of digital marketing. They rely heavily on influencers as they send new products to influencers before the products are even launched so that influencers identify the flaws and suggest improvements (if they require) and thereafter the brand makes the changes accordingly.

2)Daniel Wellington, Sweden

This company was able to tap the “business opportunity” and it proved out to be quite fruitful for them. They broke into the Indian market by solely relying on Social Media Influencers. It is a watch brand company sends its new products to big social media influencers in India and enjoys extreme profits and sales. They were able to see India as a good market due to the country’s vast population.

Conclusion:

Social Media Influencer marketing or the Influencer marketing has become the fastest growing trend in communication in last few years. The key factors involved to be a good influencer are trust and credibility in the message. Latest studies and research have proved that social media influencers contribute to a business’s growth in a very positive manner in terms of promotion, publicity, sales and ROI. Many assume this marketing tool is temporary and will extinct in few years, however only time can say it.

Twitter vs Instagram. What’s better for business?

Before we get into the details about marketing on Twitter and Instagram, let us learn quickly about some of the key features of both Twitter as well as Instagram.
Twitter was launched in 2006 whereas Instagram was founded in 2010. As of 2020, there are 1.3 billion twitter accounts out of which only 330 million are monthly active users globally whereas there are 1.2 billion Instagram accounts out of which 1 billion are monthly active users globally.

About 293 million Instagram users are aged between 15 and 24 and 338 million users are aged between 25 and 34. Talking about Twitter, 80% of its global population is below 50 years old. Twitter ranks slightly behind Instagram when it comes to users 60+ users.

When it comes to the worldwide gender split, about 51% of Instagram users are female and 49% are male and when we talk about Twitter 62% are male and 38% are female. 85% of India’s Twitter audience is male, ranking the country third highest for male-to-female ratio.

With the help of the above graphs, we come to know that Laos has highest female ratio when it comes to Instagram and for Twitter its Philippines with highest female ratio.

1. USER ENGAGEMENT REACH

One of the commonality between Instagram and Twitter is that maximum of their active users are aged between 18 and 29. And if a business is looking for a young audience, then surely it has to select both Instagram and Twitter.
From the above two graphs, it is quite evident that user traffic is much higher on Instagram than any other platform.
However, it is important to note that maximum Twitter users are inactive and Instagram users are mostly active with over 500 million people using Instagram daily whereas only 330 million Twitter users are active monthly. So if a new business wants to enter the market and wants easy and quick promotion, Instagram is a better option any day.

2. Sales

Instagram has separate business profiles specifically for collaborations and business deals. Email, contact number can be directly attached on profiles whereas same does not happen with Twitter.
Another important characteristic where Instagram leads over Twitter is its “Trackable” feature. Sales and Leads can be tracked through Instagram Advertisements and hence we can see clear Return on Investment.

According to Shopify, an e-commerce platform, average price tag for a sale referred from Instagram is $65 and it is $55 for Facebook and $46 for Twitter.
With Instagram settings, we can link our profile to other social media accounts such as Facebook and Twitter but the same is not possible with Twitter and this can indirectly help in increasing sales.

Instagram being a more visual platform with variety of formats available is doing better than Twitter in driving sales.
In the graph below, it is found that traffic on Instagram is more than Twitter. So it is obvious, Instagram is ahead of Twitter when it comes to generating sales.

It is also important to note that Sales on social media platforms also depend on the country and the business field one is in.
After analysing the below three graphs, we will be able to understand that it is better to avoid using any of these applications for our business if our target audience is not into these fields and countries.

3) Return on Investment

Providing a link on our Instagram bio can fetch a lot of traffic and doing the same on our Tweets would also increase our traffic. Making good investment on Instagram sponsor advertisements and Twitter advertisement also increases our user traffic dramatically as Twitter shows our advertisements on “TRENDS” while Instagram shows our advertisements on stories.
Mostly, influencers prefer Instagram over any other platform since it is easy to handle and even users like Instagram posts as compared to other formats. And at the end all a business wants to do is to increase sales and earn profits. This is possible more on Instagram due to its unique yet diverse formats, high user engagement and efficient promotional techniques, so definitely ROI is bound to be more in Instagram than on Twitter.

Also, as mentioned before, Instagram Business profiles provide each and every detail about insights, engagements, and sales and as a result it gives better information regarding ROI in comparison to Twitter.
Two examples of Sales Tracking, User Enagagement and ROI information are given below.

Conclusion: Both Instagram and Twitter are doing well when it comes to marketing strategy and business. If we talk about situation half a decade ago, Twitter was leading but in 2020, Instagram is unbeatable winner.
Growth of the business also depends on the industry, for example fashion industry will do better on Instagram while News Industry will do better on Twitter.

MOOC: A Revolution In The Field Of Education

The lockdown has given almost the entire nation  a LOT of free time. Some had engaged in pursuing their old hobbies, some took up new ones, some spent it working or studying, while others got some well deserved rest. All and all, many had explored and done things that were wishful thinking earlier. One of those things was learning. Yes, that’s right, like education learning. Now you might be wondering, this must be about online classes. Well, in a way, it is.

Massive Online Open Courses (MOOC) is a distance education platform, but with an unconventional twist. Apart from having the salient features like convention study materials on a large variety of courses and disciplines, what makes it more engaging is the feedback and interaction with peers and teachers alike. Also, instant feedback and remarks on assignments and quizzes gives a large opening to self analysis and development.

Various MOOC platforms, in partnership with various prestigious institutes, supersides the geographical and financial barriers to provide knowledge and education. But the points that should be mentioned are: Not all MOOCs are fully or partially free. Some courses need to be purchased for completion, that is, though the majority of the study materials, videos and notes that is, are free, but some materials, or some assignments, which are essential for completion of the course, are privatized. Even then, the costs are quite low in comparison to many physical learning options. Another thing is, it does not directly help in the educational degree. Rather, these courses are more helpful for knowledge enhancement, vocational growth and employment opportunities.

With the digital revolution, no sector was left unaffected. Education was no different. Early 2000s was the period of increase in online or e-learning availers. By 2010, MOOC, with a significant figure of learners, had made its presence known. Though, the term MOOC was denoted by Dave Cormier (University of Prince Edward Island) in 2008 in relation to a course, ‘Connectivism and Connective Knowledge’, organized by University of Manitoba, the concept was first introduced due to the evolution of MIT’s OpenCourseWare project. This project originally introduced the concept of open educational resources (OER). MOOC is one response based format generated out of this system.

MOOC, since it has a varied source of contribution, hence has developed in various ways. The two most notable distinct categories of MOOC would be cMOOC and xMOOC. Now, what’s the difference? The difference is in the approach of learning. In that respect, cMOOC is what is known to be the experimental and dynamic form. In such programmes, rather than having a predetermined set of study material, an aggregate of materials about the related subject is made available, with the scope of instant inclusions of new developments. They in the more basic essence, are the open sourced materials. Also, the platforms provide the opportunity of peer interaction for collaborative studies. This technique is based on the outlook that learning should be an interactive and ever evolving process. On the other hand, there is xMOOC, which follows more of the traditional methodology, like the university structured courses. These format is in restrictive, as the course material is close licensed, and hence may not be available to everyone. The primary objective in this case, more often is qualification rather than the actual process of learning. This method, too, gives emphasis on community interaction.

Some of the premiere MOOC platforms happen to be edX, Coursera and Udacity. Now that’s what I would like to call learning made fun and easy!

Online mode of Education: Is it really advantageous to the Indian youth or there are any limitations too?

Article by – Shishir Tripathi

Intern at Hariyali Foundation
In collaboration with
Educational News

After the arrival of Corona Virus into the country after the months of February and March, educational institutions including schools and colleges were shut down and the normal teaching learning process was hampered. After, a certain time, the Teaching process again started through online mode and till now the same process is being followed.

Now, the question arises that the available mode of teaching is accessible to all the students across India or there are other students left who still are not connected with their respective educational institutions through the new mode of learning?

The normal classroom learning is not possible at present because of transmission of virus amongst the students and that will make the situation even worse than before. Therefore, lectures and notes to the students are given via the online mode with help of apps like Zoom, Google meet, Jio meet, Google Classroom and many more. These apps can only be accessed with the help of a Smartphone. Now, being a developing country, unequal distribution of wealth and resources is genuine in a country like India.

According to a survey by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), at least 27% students do not have access to Smart phones, tablets or laptops for online classes. Such college and school students are facing a lot of problems in their studies

According to a real time progress tracker, 83% of households in India had electricity connection till 2018, and after some tome Modi government claimed that they have electrified India to 100% but everyone knows that laying wire lines, and transformers doesn’t mean that electricity reaches to the place.

Though the data is unavailable, there are villages still left waiting for electricity and hence in such remote areas it is so difficult for a student having a phone or any other electronic device and charging it properly for uninterrupted attendance in the online classes.

Now, there are sudden prolonged power cuts too which occur and can obstruct the power supply to electronic devices which can hamper the delivery of education through online mode from teachers and professors to the students and scholars. The all India average duration of power cuts was 5 hours and 28 minutes on May 2, 2019. And also, in villages sometimes the reason is all unknown to the people behind the sudden power cuts.

There is also a problem of slow speed in congested localities, small towns, villages and remote areas of the country. According to the Akamai Q1 2017 State of the Internet Report, the average internet connection speed in India is 6.5 Mbit/s and the average peak connection speed is 41.4 Mbit/s. Globally, India was ranked 89th out of 149 countries/regions by average internet connection speed and 97th by average peak connection speed. According to telecom industry experts, the slow bandwidth speed in India is due to the high cost of spectrum leading to Internet Service Providers (ISPs) not investing much into the spectrum. The growing number of telecom users and Smartphone users are also cited as one of the reasons for slow speed in the country.

Therefore, taking into consideration the present situation, the online mode of education is the best way possible to deliver knowledge to the students in these tough times of Corona. Also, the problems of unavailability of electronic devices and slow internet speed and proper supply of electricity to each and every household must be ensured so that the youth which is the future of the nation gets uninterrupted education and training through online mode.

Everything is ONLINE!…

In the world of the pandemic, office work is a myth. Interviews turned into phone calls, business deals turned into virtual meets, committee meeting turned into zoom virtual get-togethers.
Many people even lost their jobs just because they couldn’t handle computer and operate the company’s online portal, that’s when everybody felt the need that why ” online” is important. “Online” doesn’t always mean sitting in front of the laptop for 8-9 hours doing repetitive work. We can go online simply with our phones. From games to groceries, from e-commerce shopping to marketing and selling your product, the virtual world plays a magnificent role.
You must’ve heard stories from your parents and grandparents that they had to walk several km just to go to school and come back walking the same. They must’ve even told you about how they used to rush hours before the office timings just to catch the bus and be there on time. But now things took a drastic change. Now even nursery kids learn with online classes. Teachers assign them tasks and they submit it with a soft copy. Now talking about online jobs, here you don’t need to rush for catching the bus, you don’t even need to walk several miles, but just need to do simple things. Dress up well, make yourself presentable and open your laptop and go on, that’s it. This is how things got simpler with online jobs. Here, you don’t always need to be physically present at a place called “office”. No matter wherever you are, at home, at a wedding, on a trip or somewhere else, still you can get your job done. Just sit for a while, complete the assigned tasks and you’re free.
Now many employees who got WFH to keep on blaming the network connection just to avoid their work. But I feel these excuses won’t work for many days. With the continuous upgradations happening in the network industry, everyone will be having a proper network connection at whichever remote place they are in.
Yesterday, I saw an advertisement looking for a manager. I was like, how, how this will work? The manager needs to be on the field for the proper functioning of the team but then I realised these electronic devices will get the job done. Now the whole administrative work can be done sitting at home. The administrator can keep a check on the work employees doing. Even if he finds some mistakes or some laziness towards work, he can straight out call the employee. He can rectify him on a phone call or a zoom meeting.
There is a thing we hear at times. Most of the corporate issues/problems can be solved simply on a call. You don’t need to be there at some place. Now-a-days, doctors are also on the ground of virtual world. During the period of this pandemic, many doctors turned themselves into a virtual instructor. They just have a virtual meeting with their patients, ask them symptoms and history and then prescribe tablets or ask for a proper hospital checkup.
Now many of you must be feeling like online jobs are related to only certain field of work i.e. IT industry. But the fact is with the increase in need of design and automation, mechanical field is moving towards the online world. Design engineers and machine programmers now work online and get their job done. Even after the end of this pandemic, people will still have the fear to go out to buy something or to eat. That’s why online market will drive the world in the upcoming days. So to fulfil the needs of the service, online market will rise and so does online jobs.

Burdens of online classes

I have just been promoted to the second year of my postgraduate course and our dean was very much proactive in launching the online platform by buying a Zoom subscription, providing access to the online private library and even bought subscriptions to buy e-books. A necessary amount of fees was also reduced although there is no reimbursement of the internet or Wi-Fi charges. Around 2-4 classes of duration 90 minutes are usually scheduled each day, with a couple of days off each week. Faculties usually provide assignments with deadlines and we have to prepare presentations almost every week. Everything which one usually does in a MBA college, we are doing everything and even the faculties are trying to replicate the entire offline model of MBA into an online model. Truth to be spoken, they have been successful in their endeavours, but to what extent?

With each passing day, such online classes are becoming more of a burden. Attending classes every day, for such long hours as well as trying to grasp new topics is becoming increasingly difficult. Even though the faculties are trying to make things easy, there is something about this online platform that makes the entire teaching process a mile less effective. Recent trends suggest that the attention span of a normal 25 years old human being ranges from 10 to 20 minutes. This trend is well observed when we are studying a class environment, usually surrounded by friends who help us getting through the class. But coming to the online mode, what usually happens is our attention span gets drastically reduced and since there is no check with the reality, we often drift away from what exactly is happening in the class. What spikes our frustration is the absence of non-verbal cues during the class activities or during presentation. In classes, we can see our audience and change ourselves accordingly, but in online mode, it seems like a one way communication – we only speak without any response from the opposite end. And to add to that, we always face a fear of losing internet connection in the middle of class. And God forbid, the days when that happens, we have no other options but to succumb to our own senses to try and to understand what we have missed.

But that is not all. Post graduate study is so designed that group work is more of necessity which reduces time and increases effectiveness of our study. Studying solo in our rooms is making things harder, and this is piling up day by day.

But what is more frightening and despairing is that unlike the corporate, schools and colleges does not have any mental wellness programs. Hours of online classes with studying solo in our rooms is creating a mental challenge coupled with anxiety and stress. What actually is happening now is that students are trying to cram everything but what is the effectiveness? Are we really being able to retain anything at the end of the day? There is no doubt that the faculties are trying their best, but somewhere they have failed to consider the mental challenge that we are facing in the meantime.

Online class is perfectly fine for those curriculum which have been designed in that way. It does not work, or at least we are not ready to embrace this form as a substitute of offline mode of classes.

7 Online Business Anyone Can Start (No Scam No Investment)

Earning money has always been associated with and restricted to traditional ‘offline’ route. With the Internet taking over a large part of our lives, more people are looking to ways to earn money online to increase their financial inflows.

Photo by Andrea Piacquadio on Pexels.com

However, you should be careful of the platform that you opt for. While there are numerous ways to earn money online, some of these might be fake, thus taking you for a ride. Also, do not expect to earn a huge amount quickly when using online avenues.

1- TEESPRING

Teespring is a free platform that lets you create and sell over 50 kinds of products with no upfront cost or risk. We handle everything, from printing to shipping to customer service. Teespring is for everyone—from entrepreneurs looking to start their own online business, to Creators wanting to offer awesome merch to their fans, to charities looking for a hassle-free way to raise funds, and everyone in between.

Use Teespring tools like stores, promotion codes, buyer messaging, and more to maximize your sales! We can even list your products within the most powerful global marketplaces like Amazon, eBay, and more through Teespring’s Boosted Network.

How do I make money using Teespring?

You choose the selling price and profit for all of your products. When a product sells you get to keep the profit. For example, the base cost of a t-shirt is $10 and your selling price is $24; when you sell a shirt you will earn $14. Once the orders are processed your profit will be available for withdrawal in the Payouts section of your Teespring account. Don’t forget the more you sell the more profit you can earn per product per month.

2- Merch by Amazon

Basically, if you have 100 t-shirts in your account, you could expect to make about … This is a conservative estimate, about $150 a month. If you have 1,000 t-shirts in your account, you can expect to make maybe $1,500 a month. If you have 8,000 t-shirts in your account, you could expect to make about $12,000 a month.

Merch by Amazon is a very cool startup type program by Amazon. It is a pod program where you can sell tshirts, sweatshirts and hoodies in USA. Anyone can participate as long as you have payoneer. For Indians, there is a 15% tax on earnings. (No wonder taxation is theft as we have to pay tax on those earnings in India as well. But then IRS are a bunch of thieves)

3- REDBUBBLE

The designers earn royalties from the sale of their creations. They receive a percentage of the profit and the rest of the funds account for the fee paid to Redbubble and the manufacture of the merchandise. The site then handles the inventory and shipping transactions on your behalf.

The designers earn royalties from the sale of their creations. They receive a percentage of the profit and the rest of the funds account for the fee paid to Redbubble and the manufacture of the merchandise. The site then handles the inventory and shipping transactions on your behalf

4- UDEMY

One of the best features of selling classes on Udemy is the fact that it can become an excellent source of passive income. Once you create and post a course, it can earn you money for a long time without additional work. It just might take more work to market your course to potential students.

For example if a student purchases your course using an Instructor Coupon code, either from promotions to your own audience (e.g., your email list or YouTube subscribers) you can make 97% revenue share. Alternatively if the course is sold via an Affiliate, the split is 50% affiliate, 25% Instructor and 25% Udemy.

5- AFFILIATED MARKETING

Affiliate marketing is one of the oldest marketing practice which gains affiliates a commission in the case of sale based on the affiliate’s recommendation. It is one of the cheapest and easiest ways of marketing as you don’t need to create and sell a product. Just one thing you need to do is to enable a linked connection between buyer and seller and take your commission when the sale is made.

As you see, affiliate marketing is a passive income source. It is highly competitive it is true but still it may be so easy to make money online with affiliate marketing. To be successful, you need to learn what works and what doesn’t while promoting your products.

There are many affiliate marketing works. So, you need to be patient. You can feed your website with qualified content to get high ranking positions and raise awareness, attend affiliate marketing events, seminars or webinars and join a discussion forum or online communities to meet new people. All make a great contribution to develop you. Naturally after these contributions you will be more passionate to make money from affiliate programs. If you are patient enough you will make money with affiliate programs.

6- YOUTUBE AFFILIATED MARKETING

You can make money on YouTube by doing affiliate marketing, which is including links to products you review and use in your videos that will track a purchase. If someone makes a purchase using your affiliate link, you receive a small commission for the sale.

Another thing about affiliate marketing is the payout percentages as well as how these people track your viewers who are clicking on these links. Every time someone clicks on one of your special tracking affiliate links, a little cookie is put onto that person’s computer to track what they purchase. The best part about the cookies is that if you link to a specific product, they don’t have to purchase that product. Anything they purchase on that website, you get commissions for. Do you need a Business License to sell on Etsy?

Etsy is one of the most popular online shopping sites which provides wonderful DIY craftworks and many other similar products. Though it’s one of the most valued sites for online shopping websites, one question always pops up when a seller anticipates setting up one’s business. The question is if one needs a business license to sell one’s products on Etsy. Many sellers have repeatedly tried to know the business license policy’s details through the official website of Etsy. The policy regarding if the business license is necessary or not is available on the policy page of Etsy. Also, there are many articles on the internet that have given some ideas regarding the business license policy but not in a very detailed manner. Hence, here’s all the information you need to know to clear your confused minds about what to do and what not to, whether to get a business or not, how to start with the entire procedure before you set up your business on Etsy.

Importance of Business License to sell on Etsy

A business license is a permit which a merchant or a seller needs to get once he/she sets up the business to profit from it. If you are the budding entrepreneur or have a small business that you want to set up on Etsy, you need to go through the details here.

First and foremost, the need to have a business license depends entirely on how you wish to perceive Etsy’s career. For instance, if you pursue working as a seller as your profession or you are working as a seller just as a hobby or passion. If you decide on being a fulltime seller on Etsy, you would have to get that business license to be legal with your business. Your business will only be considered legitimate if you have the permit in the form of a business license. Once your store becomes legalized, you can start working as a fulltime business merchant on Etsy, without any further delay.

To apply for the Business License or not?

Now, I guess you’ve already made up your mind to pursue this as your business, and hence, you need to be sure about a few more things related to the need for Business License here. Firstly, if you’re gaining profit from your store on Etsy, if the answer to this is yes, you would have to report how much amount you are earning from the store and inform it to the IRS. Secondly, if your Etsy store is set up on partnership or LLC, you would have to get an EIN to continue with your business here, and you would also need to get the business license. Here, EIN stands for Employer Identification Number. This is important if you have a partner or multiple partners in your business.

Types of Business Licenses for Sellers

There are three types of business licenses for business merchants on Etsy. It mostly depends on the seller’s location or ownership or kind of products he or she sells here.

  • A Basic Business Operation License: This license provides you with the allowance to spread your business locally. You need to know how far you can spread your business in geographical terms, and this license helps you to operate your store within that periphery. You must get the idea of how far your business can reach from the local business administration office. You can contact them and know the details regarding the same.
  • An Employer Identification Number: As mentioned earlier, an Employer Identification Number is only required if you have a partnership business or LLC. Other than that, you don’t require an Employer Identification Number. If you are the owner of your store, mostly the case on Etsy, you don’t need an Employer Identification Number. This is only for the business sellers who have more than one or multiple partners attached.
  • A Home Occupation Permit: The Home Occupation Permit is needed if your business is based out of your home. You need this permit if your work is out of your home, like most other Etsy sellers. This kind of license is prevalent on Etsy because here, most sellers have their business set out of their homes.

Where to begin with the Business License?

Most readers now would want to know where to begin and where to go to get the much-needed business license. The entire process of how to get a business license pretty much varies from one place to another. The rules and regulations are pretty different from one city to that of another. You would have to make a proper conversation with the local SBA to know the complete detailed procedure of setting up your business and where to start. Once you contact them, you become aware of the entire process in your area or city, without any further confusion.

How safe is Etsy if you don’t have a Business License?

Etsy is mostly safe if you’re pursuing this platform as a hobby. Once you start making a profit out of your business, you need to get that business license done. Otherwise, you might risk getting caught by the IRS. The safest way to go about it is to make up your mind if you wish to make your store a profit-earning business for you or not. If you want to make this as your business, it’s better to be safe than sorry. You never know when you get caught without a valid business license. My advice would be to apply for that business license as soon as you make up your mind about making Etsy store your business platform or not.

If you’re pursuing your Etsy store as a hobby or as your passion, you don’t need to have a business license. You can continue with your hobby as a seller, as much as you want. You won’t get in any trouble. As the name suggests, the business license is only for those who are seriously taking Etsy as their start-up career or as an entrepreneurship platform for their business.

How to decide if it’s business or not?

The entire choice depends upon how you see your store, whether you see it as a hobby outlet or a business outlet, whether you want to make a profit out of your store or you are just doing it because you like doing it. The entire decision is yours. Also, the business license depends entirely upon this decision of yours. Many sellers get confused even after making their Etsy store, a business platform, about if they would gain profit or not. This is a very legitimate confusion, and one might always have this doubt on their mind. If you feel you need to be wholly assured of your decision and how profitable it is turning up for you, there’s always a path. You can opt for a five-year exemption, which would automatically postpone your choice on whether to get a business license or not. You can work on your business store for five years and see whether it makes a good profit on your profit. Once you’re satisfied with the feedbacks you would be getting, within the particular framework of five years, you can quickly go for the business license and make your business legalized and legitimate.

Etsy, as a business site, is business-friendly. So, you got nothing to worry about when it comes to your start-up career there. You can start with your store any day, even now, just after reading this article and follow the procedures to make a hobby out of it or a profitable business out of it. But you would have to keep in mind a few things before you jumpstart your business career. You cannot continue your business once you are making a profit. You need to report your profits and your earnings to the IRS. You would find many business holders there, who are using unfair means to continue gaining advantage without making their business legitimate. They are going to get caught someday, and they would have to pay a hefty sum of fine to the IRS. You should stay clean once you set up your business. Other than that, you need to contact your local business administration and get the remaining details about the business license. They would start with your paperwork once you understand the whole procedure. Once more, if you are a seller on Etsy who is not looking for profit there, you are not a business seller. You don’t need to apply for the business permit if it’s a hobby. But you surely need the business license once you are planning to make your business legalized and legitimate.

Who pays for Shipping on Etsy?

Apart from the business license, many sellers also face doubts regarding how who pays for shipping on Etsy. So, I am going to cover that part along with the business license details I gave previously. Etsy has a detailed shipping policy which is available on their website. Irrespective of that, here is some essential information regarding the shipping details.

The buyer pays for the shipping charge, no doubt in that. Many buyers only look for free shipping products so that they don’t have to pay for the extra costs which come for the product. Along with the buyer, the seller also has to pay a certain amount to Etsy for the transaction and the shipping of the product. If you charge a shipping fee for the products you sell on your store, you will find a shipping transaction fee. Even if you ship the product for free, you need to pay a certain percentage as the transaction fee. The transaction fee is compulsory for the seller. It doesn’t matter if you are charging the buyer for the shipping transaction or not; you need to pay 5% of the transaction cost anyway. If you charge the shipping fee, you need to pay 5% of the shipping transaction cost and 5% of the transaction cost. This is Etsy’s policy, and it is given in a detailed manner on their personalized website.

The only profitable way to sell your products is to divide the shipping transaction between you and your buyer. If you try to make the buyer pay most of the shipping transaction cost, they might not end up ordering your product even after liking it. Many buyers remove the products from the cart once they see the shipping charge more than usual. It’s better to divide the shipping transaction cost and not let one party pay the entire or the higher amount, neither the seller nor the buyer. Also, it would not be profitable if you end up selling the product, free of any shipping charge. You would end up paying the shipping transaction cost on your own, which might turn out to be a loss on your part. You need to calculate the entire cost and divide it skilfully to make the product look pocket friendly for the buyer and profitable for the seller.

You may need to go through the policy guidelines available on the Etsy website to get a detailed idea regarding the shipping transaction cost and the transaction cost and calculate what makes it profitable for you and lucrative for the buyer. Once you are in the midway, you might become satisfied with the profit you would be making even after you pay 5% of the transaction cost and 5% of the shipping transaction cost. But keep in mind that many sellers opt for free shipping so that buyers find the product more lucrative and end up buying more. You need to decide wisely how to move forward with the shipping cost. Rest assured, the buyer is the one who pays for the major part of the shipping cost.
