International Day of Peace

Every year on September 21, the world celebrates the International Day of
Peace. The United Nations General Assembly designated this day as a day to
promote the values of peace by observing 24 hours of non-violence and
ceasefire.

But true peace requires much more than laying down arms. It requires
creating societies in which all members believe they can thrive. It means
building a world where everyone is treated equally, regardless of race.

As Secretary-General António Guterres has said:

“Racism continues to poison
institutions, social structures, and everyday life in every society. It
continues to be a driver of persistent inequality. And it continues to deny
people their fundamental human rights. It destabilizes societies, undermines
democracies, erodes the legitimacy of governments, and… the linkages between
racism and gender inequality are unmistakable.”

As wars
break out around the world, forcing people to flee, we have seen racial
prejudice at the borders. We’ve seen certain racial groups hit much harder than
others as COVID-19 continues to attack our neighborhoods. As economies weaken,
expressions of hatred and violence against racial minorities increase.

We are all responsible for promoting peace. And fighting racism is a vital
way to help.

We can try to destroy the structures that perpetuate racism among us. We
can help equality and human rights movements around the world. We have the
ability to speak out against hate speech both offline and online. Anti-racism
can be promoted through education and corrective justice.

The theme of the International Day of Peace for 2022 is “End Racism. Build
Peace”. We should all join the efforts of the United Nations to create a world
without racism and racial discrimination. A world where compassion and empathy
triumph over mistrust and hatred. A world we can be truly proud of.

History of the International Day of Peace

The United Nations General Assembly established the International Day of
Peace in 1981. In 2001, the General Assembly unanimously decided to declare the
day a period of non-violence and truce.

Events of 2022

On September 16, 2022, the United Nations headquarters observed the
International Day of Peace. The event began at 9:00 a.m. EDT with the
traditional Peace Bell ceremony in the Peace Garden. The Secretary General and
the President of the General Assembly rang the Peace Bell during the event.
Then, at 9:30 a.m. EDT, a youth meeting was held in the Economic and Social
Council (ECOSOC) Chamber, where more than 500 students met with the
Secretary-General and prominent artists and activists. Young people presented
initiatives that demonstrated their efforts to prevent racism and thereby
promote peace.

International Day of Peace.

In 1981, the United Nations General Assembly declared the third Tuesday of September as International Day of Peace. This day coincided with the opening day of the annual sessions of the General Assembly. The purpose of the day was and still remains, to strengthen the ideals of peace around the world.

Two decades after establishing this day of observance, in 2001, the assembly moved the date to be observed annually on September 21. So, beginning in 2002, September 21 marks not only a time to discuss how to promote and maintain peace among all peoples but also a 24-hour period of global ceasefire and non-violence for groups in active combat.

Peace is possible. Throughout history, most societies have lived in peace most of the time. Today, we are much less likely to die in war than our parents or grandparents. Since the establishment of the United Nations and the creation of the Charter of the United Nations, governments are obligated not to use force against others unless they are acting in self-defense or have been authorized by the UN Security Council to proceed.

Life is better in a world where peace exists and, today, we look to those who have been peacemakers and peacekeepers to learn what we can each do individually to make the world a more peaceful place.

The United Nations invites all nations and people to honour a cessation of hostilities during the day and to otherwise commemorate the Day through education and public awareness on issues related to peace.

Every year, the International Day of Peace is celebrated under a specific theme. This year, according to the UN, the theme of World Peace Day 2022 is ‘End racism , Build peace.’ There will be many events, workshops, and educational seminars on the eve of World Peace Day 2022 to create awareness among people about how to develop a world free of racism and racial discrimination.

According to the United Nations, “Racism continues to poison institutions, social structures, and everyday life in every society. It continues to be a driver of persistent inequality. And it continues to deny people their fundamental human rights. It destabilises societies, undermines democracies, erodes the legitimacy of governments, and the linkages between racism and gender inequality are unmistakable.”

A warrior who can not be forgotten Hav. Gajender Singh Bisht.

Havaldar Gajender Singh Bisht was an NSG commando who was martyred in the 2008 Mumbai attack. His bravery received the Ashoka Chakra Award from the President of India on January 26, 2009, on the Anniversary of the Republic of India.
He was born on 1 July,1972 in Dehradun, Uttarakhand.

He persued his education from the Janata Inter College in Naya Gaon.As a student he used to participate in every event organised in the school, sports or cultural activities. But he had a particular interest in boxing. Havaldar Gajendra Singh joined Garhwal Rifles in 1991 and later decided to become part of the 10 Para (Special Forces). Havaldar Gajendra also actively participated in Operation Kargil in 1999. Havaldar Gajendra was a trained commander of the Indian Army Special Forces, but he was commissioned to serve the National Security Guard’s Elite Special Action Group.

According to NSG Secretary Jyoti Krishna Dutt, Bisht led one of the teams entering the building. The team was hit by a violent terrorist attack and returned to fire while trying to contain the situation. Terrorists also threw some grenades at Commando. At this point,Bisht had the opportunity to retire with his team. But he realized they needed to seize this opportunity and went forward with thier mission.Instead of turning his back on the militants, he made the way to other troops instead, despite the grenades being thrown. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the process, but moved forward and was eventually injured. This allowed his team to secure a dominant position in the encounter. On the night of November 27, 2008, Havildar Gajender Singh Bisht led his army in an operation to rescue hostages from terrorists at the Nariman House in Mumbai. While securing the Nariman House during Operation Black Tornado, Bisht got fatally injured at Jewish center attack and died.

Power of your Subconscious Mind

The Power Of Your Subconscious Mind is a spiritual self-help book, which teaches you how to use visualization and other suggestion techniques to adapt your unconscious behavior in positive ways.

Understanding your subconscious mind as a photographic mechanism removes the emotion and struggle from changing your life, because if it is simply a matter of replacing existing mental images with new ones, you begin to see the ease with which you may change.

‘The law of your mind is the law of belief itself,’ Murphy says. What we believe makes us who we are. William James observed that whatever people expect to be true, will be so, irrespective of whether the object of their belief exists in fact. In the West we have made ‘the truth’ our highest value; this motivation, while important, is weak next to the actual power of belief in shaping our lives.

1. You Receive Answers To Prayer Because Of Mental Acceptance About What You Pray

Murphy proposes that your religious affiliation is not what makes prayer effective. Rather, it is based on your ability and willingness to accept what you pray.

It makes sense that whatever you can and do accept on a conscious level has to be accepted by your subconscious as well.

Another statement that expands on this idea is this one: “the subconscious mind is subject to the conscious mind.” What Murphy is saying is that you can train your subconscious mind to believe what you can accept on a conscious level.

2. Your Subconscious Mind Has The Answer To All Your Problems

This statement makes perfect sense if you don’t have any problems with the idea that your subconscious mind = God.

Even if not for that, though, it speaks to the power of the subconscious mind. You don’t need to go looking outside for the answers you seek – Murphy is saying – you can look inside, and pose questions to your subconscious.

The answers may not come immediately, but your mind is always working on problems you submit to it even when you’re doing other things, and it will eventually present to you a workable solution.

3. Faith Is The Only Universal Healing Principle Operating Through Everybody

I believe the implication here is that faith is created by accessing and harnessing the power of our subconscious minds. Illness, physical ailments, and even traumatic experiences can be healed by repeatedly submitting thoughts of healing to our subconscious minds.

Can we be healed by any other means? According to Murphy, no. Faith is the universal healing principle. Of course, I don’t think he would discount the importance of medicine and other orthodox cures, but I have to guess that in this case he is referring to instances of healing that have occurred in so-called “healing services”, churches, or religious gatherings.

4. If A Prayer Is Answered, It Is Answered Scientifically

What Murphy is suggesting is that there is a formula to prayers that are answered. He explains that “science” means knowledge that is coordinated, arranged and systematized, so the idea here is that we can cooperate with our subconscious minds to see more of our prayers answered.

If anything, the entire book sheds light on how little attention and thought we give to our subconscious minds, and what fantastic tools they are in helping us achieve ends that we desire to see in our lives.

5. Don’t Compel Your Subconscious Mind To Accept Your Idea By Willpower

Although Murphy does talk about presenting positive thoughts and images to our subconscious minds, he is also quick to caution us that we can’t force things. Our willpower is limited, and it continues to decrease and diminish throughout the day. Can you imagine how tiring it would be to force yourself to think the same things and visualize the same images all day long?

I think the idea is that we can plant seeds and nurture them, but we shouldn’t be constantly uncovering the soil to see how our seeds are doing. We must keep pulling the weeds and watering the seed, and while that may require a daily investment, it shouldn’t take more than a couple of minutes.

6. The World You Live In Is Determined By What Goes In Your Mind

Regardless of whether you subscribe to Murphy’s theology, I think this is something we can all agree on. What goes into your mind is hugely important. If you choose poorly, you’ll assimilate bad attitudes, behaviors, and thoughts. If you choose well, you’ll begin to see positive changes within yourself.

What world do you want to live in? Have you thought about it? If you aren’t sure what you want to achieve in your lifetime, it makes it much harder to select input that will assist you on your journey. If you are fully in alignment with your objectives, choosing the right input becomes much easier.

7. Man Punishes Himself With His False Concepts Of God

We create our own misery. No one else does it for us. I think I know exactly what Murphy was saying here. I can attest to the fact that my false concepts of God led me down a path of misery.

In 2014, I went through a period of depression. Up until that point, I had felt that there was a clear path laid out ahead of me. Suddenly, that path disappeared and I could no longer see what was ahead. I cried out to God, but to no avail. My prayers kept hitting the ceiling. And, in retrospect, I feel it was my false ideas of the divine that were responsible for my bouts of depression.

Mysticism is the belief that something outside you controls your life. Recognizing that you are in control and you can rely upon your subconscious mind for the answers you seek is empowering. Right or wrong is not something you can check against a book. Right or wrong is embedded deep within you already, and to try to fit yourself into someone else’s ideas is to try to put a square peg in a round hole.

  1. Be willing to see the unchangeable change.
  2. Give yourself permission to be successful.
  3. Don’t allow other people’s fears to cast shadows of doubt.
  4. Surround yourself with positive reinforcement.
  5. Speak your success as a present fact, not a future plan.

WHY ARE INDIANS AFRAID OF DIVORCE?

PROLOGUE TO THE THOUGHT

Our general public has been man centric and man-driven for quite a while. It gives men the opportunity to be their own lords yet denies ladies the equivalent. Culture completely concurs with men continually ruling and ladies continually being ruled. A man can stop a marriage at whatever point he wishes to, however society questions and derides her if a lady wishes to do likewise. It in a real sense anticipates that women should endure quietly, even get suffocated yet not get a separation.

SOCIETY’S PERSPECTIVE

Tragically a man needn’t bother with authorization for anything, while a lady needs it for everything. We gladly declare that we are instructed and making the world a superior spot to live. We yell trademarks about opportunity for ladies as loud as possible yet, actually, neglect to walk the discussion. It plainly draws out the false reverence of our general public. We gladly announce ourselves to be ‘present day. ‘For what reason can’t a lady decide to carry on with her own life according to her own preferences? We forcefully go against abusive behavior at home and the customary traditionalist mentality about ladies. In any case, do we really follow it at our homes?

They say ‘Good cause starts at home. Be that as it may, shockingly, separate is as yet a no-no in our general public. We show our kids that marriage is a sacrosanct establishment. Yet, that doesn’t imply that it is a declaration of joy. For what reason wouldn’t we be able to comprehend if marriage as an establishment isn’t working any longer? Most families consider separation to be the apocalypse. They don’t attempt to put themselves in the spot of individuals who are in that despondent marriage. Separation can have a good implication. Assuming a dead relationship is finished, it doesn’t mean everything is broken. All things considered, it is a new beginning. On the off chance that the two players arrive at a shared agreement that separation is the best hotel for them to be content in their particular lives, for what reason do individuals have an issue?

WHY IS DIVORCE VIEWED AS A SOCIAL STIGMA?

Another misinterpretation is that assuming individuals get separated, they become fierce foes to one another. In our country, ladies can’t consider leave a relationship rapidly. This is on the grounds that they are ladies. Society regularly fails to remember that before ladies, they are people. In the event that a man has the option to be the expert of his own life, then, at that point so does a lady. Much of the time, because of family pressure, ladies can’t tolerate upping for themselves and move out of a poisonous relationship.

We need to comprehend that solitary the spouse and the wife go through detachment after separate. The detachment doesn’t happen among youngsters and guardians. The guardians’ condition with their youngsters stays as before. It is only that the guardians play out their obligations independently. Subsequently, the two players improve life. Created nations like the USA are substantially more OK with separate. They comprehend the issue and backing the reason. In the event that we can take on their dressing sense and style of food, for what reason wouldn’t we be able to accept their expansive mindedness?

Marriage can give a conviction that all is good, yet separate from gives another desire to have a glad existence. Likewise, being a solitary parent is any day better than displaying a poisonous relationship. We need to comprehend that separation is surely not the most exceedingly terrible thing for youngsters, but rather undesirable everyday life is. It can likewise empower the two accomplices to fill in life once they feel glad intellectually.

POSITION OF LAW

The Seventy-First Law Commission Report of 1978 methodicallly contended the meaning of defining which perceived unrecoverable breakdown of marriage as a firm ground for separate. As per this, great separation law has twofold articles. Right off the bat to safeguard, and not subvert, the soundness of the relationship. Then, if the couple, through shared agreement, concludes that their marriage has hopelessly separated, then, at that point they ought to be liberated of it. This should be finished with complete equity and the base harshness.

TOWARDS THE END

A few cases have offered strong help to this contention. Henceforth it plainly addresses a social reality. Society has changed drastically, thus has our manner of thinking towards marriage. In this way, if a marriage has gotten suffocating and broken past all prospects of fix, then, at that point it should be finished.

Separation, in India, is as yet a sociocultural disgrace. Separation rates for Indian people are 0.3 percent and 0.2 percent, separately. Incidentally, this is in spite of that spousal viciousness is the most normal type of aggressive behavior at home in India. Thus, separation ought to be viewed as an answer and the way to independence from a poisonous relationship. It ought to positively not be a social shame.

Eventually, advancement is reflected in one’s thoughts.

Letting Go

Romeo and Juliet is probably one of the best known pieces of fiction in the world. Two lovers separated by family differences find each other only after death makes them meet in the world beyond.

What Are the Real Origins of Shakespeare's “Romeo and Juliet?” | by Julia Rose Harmon | The Smartie Newsletter | Medium

Now, it is a very philosophical way of saying, but in life, sometimes, one must know how to give up. Giving up is not the part where one never tries but the part where one realizes that he or she or they are done trying – to their best. And it is not a sign of cowardice but a very healthy exercise when giving up is accompanied by letting go.

The American star Olympian Simone Biles announced her early return from the Tokyo Olympics citing mental health reasons, the most decorated Gymnast of all time was clearly being braver and more conscious of herself than the way in which many conservatives in her country tried to portray her. She knew that she could not perform if she could not keep calm and that would only make it worse for her – deep in her head. Let us not forget that she holds 32 medals combining World championships and Olympics. In the 2016 Olympics, she singlehandedly won 3 gold and 1 bronze medals and another gold medal in teams event. She, by no means lacks the resources to be the champion. But she understood her mind.

Biles smiling and waving

The process is difficult. One might argue that giving up is like admitting defeat. Admitting defeat in the face of a certain defeat is honesty! And although your mind requires some straining, it is up to you to decide to what extent can you strain the same.

Next time, when you are giving your best and after several attempts, it seems futile to continue, give it a thought. Should you or should you not continue.

World Peace

Globalization and international organisations have deepened the connection between the countries worldwide. Today, a number of countries are nuclear equipped, hence it is extremely  important to maintain world peace and harmony and avoid any circumstance of war. With the growth of globalization and technological developments, the security threats are also becoming more and more complex. Therefore today, peace requires wider cooperation from the people.

Many famous personalities have contributed to the idea of world peace. Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela are two famous personalities who stood against inequality using peaceful resistance. Martin Luther King had emphasized the message of equality and brotherhood among everyone, in his popular speech “I have a Dream”. Mahatma Gandhi is revered as the non-violent and peaceful leader.

After the end of the cold war era in the 1990s, the world has grown to be more harmonious and peaceful. War leads to loss of life and has a long lasting impact on the people of the country. It is important to maintain this peace and prevent any kind of conflict. Peace talks, mutual negotiation and discussion should be used as a measure of conflict resolution as far as possible to avoid the painful consequences of war.

With the active participation of international organisations, cooperative relations have been built and wars are considered unacceptable. The United Nations (UN) found in 1945 had played a significant role in initiating peaceful measures to resolve conflicts between the countries.

World peace does not mean absence of violence. A mere absence of violence is negative peace. Positive peace includes people of different countries interacting in a cooperative way. It also includes socio-economic justice and equality along with development of tolerance, friendship and understanding between the nations.

In order to avoid conflicts, it is important to give equal representation to different regions or countries in the international organisations. This can avoid the chances of one country being oppressed, so that the situation of war does not arise. The economically weaker countries should not be exploited and distribution of resources should be allocated in the proper manner.

Peaceful relations between the countries can promote globalization in a beneficial way, people can interact freely, exchange their culture, and it also helps to boost tourism. With peaceful relations, the world can fight the unfair practices together and bring improvements in the issues related to human rights and climate change.

As Mahatma Gandhi had said “An eye for an eye ends up making the whole world blind “. Hence it is important to avoid the situation of war as well as maintain a peaceful world community.

Confliction of one's mind

We all are well aware of the different conflicts in our minds. They arrive like impatient thunderstorms,  one right after the other. The times when there’s isn’t any hope to hold onto, we may thrive by words that might explain our mental states. Although, we often fail to do so and start drowning ourselves into the darkest depths of nothingness.

One thing that never gets old in such situations is writing down your rough thoughts somewhere away from the eyes of anyone, and reading it later at a better stage or when you start feeling yourself again.

WAYS TO CLEAR YOUR MIND

In a generation where social status depicts one’s nature and affects their state of mind, we often find ourselves getting lost in the world which we created for others to see us like. We should be capable of creating a difference between what’s imaginary and real, that not only helps us stay sane but provides a boundary to the inevitable confusions.

When we invariably replay a situation and can’t stop thinking about it, or think how we messed up; the more we delve into it the more that situation seems to tighten the blank spaces in our mind and start congesting it.

It’s normal to get stuck in the past and have a lot many things playing in your mind at the same time, our mind has a tendency to work funnily.

Instead of putting yourself in a self-inflicting pain, try performing the enlisted activities which will probably distract the course of your mind for the time being:

  • reconnect with an old friend
  • play and spend time with your pet
  • don’t force yourself to be productive
  • go easy on yourself and do some pampering
  • cook yourself an elaborate meal
  • watch youtube, movies and listen to an upbeat music
  • take a long drive to nowhere
  • take a walk in nature
  • go out with a friend and hangout
SELF VALIDATION

We are forced to put ourselves in a position where it’s tough to concentrate on peace of mind, by comparing ourselves to the person who is superior to us. But we need to understand the concept of self-satisfaction and being content in what we already have.
We should stop comparing ourselves to others because we are unaware of the life that they have behind the scenes, or away from the eyes of the world. It’s natural to get inferiority complexes but that shouldn’t mess with one’s mind.
The positive motivation or the rush and drag to push ourselves to a better position is healthy, but if it makes one sulk and questions their existence then it won’t take long into turning toxic and harmful for the mental peace.
You have had enough of the taunts and opinions that society has for you, you don’t have to necessarily add yours to it too. If not others, make yourself so focused and proud in what you do that even your conflictions think twice to reoccur in your mind.
“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.”
― Bernard M. Baruch

DREAMS

 YOUR DREAMS ARE POSSIBLE

We may be rich or poor, kind or cruel, beautiful or ugly, smart or weak but still we can accommodate a dream. Most importantly don’t ever have a small dream:)Some people may not agree with this rather they would like to criticize on this.

IT IS POSSIBLE EVEN IN THE HARDSHIPS:

The biggest fear is how to face the dream because of the present situations we might have right now or the threat of the future, but not let the tomorrow’s dream destroyed by today’s situation because of the fear. The biggest fear is how to face the fear. At once, if we face it with full potential, we will able to shape our future. It is all about the small things which creates a great impact on the future.

PAINT YOUR DREAMS:

Painting our dreams is the best way we can do! At once when we come to know what we want at the right time we will be knowing how to get it also. Dreams should be balanced with the holistic vision. With the millions of the resources in the world, plenty of opportunities which we have in the world behind us and it really becomes silly when we start making small or selfish dreams. No one would like to carry waste things in the Audi right! Even though it has the capacity to withstand it, we won’t do it as it does not perfectly. If some things are accepted by many it is not that we are also supposed to do that. Check out your time, area of interest and do great things because we are having power to do that.

DISCOVER YOUR DREAM:

When we come to know about what dream is actually, we can start realizing the true power of it. We start living in it to the maximum. Sometimes, we never realize the amazing talent inside us, we are all only learnt to see others talents and admire them which makes us to behave small and worthless before others. This kind of attitude is to be removed once when you realize at once.

Passion is what your dream is! We are able to distinguish between the real and the fake dream. If so, then we are also able to find the way for our dream. Successful persons are those who have a burning passion with dream inside them and that’s why they are successful today and that success should not be a narcissistic one.

Make a little star in you to shine bright in the darkest times. You are still unique even though we live in the mid of varied of varied people. It is good to dream, but better to dream and work. Faith is might but action is mightier. This is because action speaks louder than words.

NOTHING IS OVER UNTIL YOU RACE!

If you have decided to grow and not ready to face challenges and hard times, there is no liveliness in that. No bird goes to a dry land, no cattle go to the empty field, no human can face a dream without the challenge and this is the bitter truth.

Make your environment suitable for your dream. Have likeminded people around you. No matter how hard the life goes or how people comment on your attitude, it is still good to achieve your powerful dream with broad vision.

Don’t work your boss or leader, work for your dream because that can only give you satisfaction.

Don’t wait for your winter, work to change your summer a super cooled one.

“A gem cannot be polished without fiction, nor man without trials”, start facing your challenges and achieve your dreams.

Peace – The Most Precious Feeling

” The day I understood everything, was the day I stopped trying to figure everything out. The day I knew peace was the day I let everything go. ” This is a beautiful quote by C. Joybell C. Peace has different meaning for different people. Some consider peace as a way of detaching from the world, while some believe it to be the way to find themselves. I personally think peace is happiness.

Peace is the most satisfying feeling in the whole world. It is when you just don’t care anymore. When you stop thinking about anything over and over again. When you are not bothered by anything anymore. When you don’t care what other people think about you. When you stop having expectations about something or maybe from someone. When you aren’t expected to do anything. When you don’t have to fight anymore. When you are patient. When you just don’t trust anyone but yourself.

Peace is eternal. If you find it once truly, it will stay with you forever. If it’s really peace that has come your way, it will never go away. Peace is when you are standing in the open and cold wind blows through your hair. You don’t do anything or think about anything. Then you close your eyes and whatever you see first, any thing or anyone or any feeling, that is peace.

Peace is when all your regrets are forgotten. All the mistakes forgiven. All the problems solved. The self doubts cleared. The pressure gone. The hurt healed. The sadness removed. The bad deeds neglected. The guilt ignored. The desperation turned into patience. The anger calmed. The thoughts organized and the mind cleared. That is peace. You feel it, you sense it.

Peace is the most supreme feeling anyone can have. It is greater than happiness. Even greater than the hurt. It is endless while others are temporary. Most difficult to find but the most valuable, most eternal and satisfying emotion. It subsides the anger, it heals the most dreaded hurt and fills the heart with calmness. It’s the ultimate goal of someone’s life. To not care, to not be angry, to not be hurt by betrayal, to be happy and content, to feel nothing but peace, this is life.

Search for peace and when you find it, claim it yours and never let go. Peace makes the soul last forever and ever. The crave for peace is undeniable when you are on the verge of ending everything. When you just can’t tolerate anymore, you desire the sense of calmness, the inner peace. The want doesn’t subside easily. It never ends until you do find your precious peace. Peace makes you wholesome.

The power of peace and calm is unbeatable. The crazy hunger to find peace turns into anger and that anger flows out in the form of tears. The strongest, most desired and the most overwhelming feeling is peace. It consumes you from inside out. It grabs your fear of being lost, throws it away and puts you back on the track of your life. When you have it, you will know the true meaning of peace.

Looking rich is not being rich or look poor is not actually being poor. The rich people are those who have good health and freedom. Money does not buy you happiness. Money only buys you time, which gives you freedom. But the road to the excellence only depends on you.

5.MASTER YOUR EMOTIONS:

You are very precious. Don’t get lost in people and waste your time. Before going to sleep, forgive everyone, don’t get mad. Once you struck in this it takes time to get recover. Anger blurs our vision. We will be defeated if we are become addict to someone. Time heals everything. Focus on things which you can control. Future is the fruit of happiness. The best is yet to come.

6.TAKE CARE OF YOUR THOUGHTS:

Pain is unbearable. Psychology says if we become far away from the person who is close to our heart that pain is equal to the physical pain. You need to adapt and move on, pass through, this too shall pass. But most of the pain comes only by our thoughts. So, once if we control our thoughts, we would be able to control our mind. Have faith and keep going.

7. ATTITUDE MATTERS:

Reframe things. Do it alone, do it scared, do it .. start building your future. Control your actions and reactions. Though some bad things happen, you will always be able to control your reactions. It all starts in your mind. Once you control you don’t react too much. This will not be reflected and that is how one can reframe his attitude. Don’t you dare stop anything because we are today!

TAKE CARE OF OUR RIGHT SEEDS!

MOTHER TERESA

Who Was Mother Teresa?

Nun and missionary Mother Teresa, known in the Catholic church as Saint Teresa of Calcutta, devoted her life to caring for the sick and poor. Born in Macedonia to parents of Albanian-descent and having taught in India for 17 years, Mother Teresa experienced her “call within a call” in 1946. Her order established a hospice; centers for the blind, aged and disabled; and a leper colony.

In 1979, Mother Teresa received the Nobel Peace Prize for her humanitarian work. She died in September 1997 and was beatified in October 2003. In December 2015, pope francis recognized a second miracle attributed to Mother Teresa, clearing the way for her to be canonized on September 4, 2016.

Mother Teresa’s Family and Young Life

Mother Teresa was born on August 26, 1910, in Skopje, the current capital of the Republic of Macedonia. The following day, she was baptized as Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu.

Mother Teresa’s parents, Nikola and Dranafile Bojaxhiu, were of Albanian descent; her father was an entrepreneur who worked as a construction contractor and a trader of medicines and other goods. The Bojaxhius were a devoutly Catholic family, and Nikola was deeply involved in the local church as well as in city politics as a vocal proponent of Albanian independence.

In 1919, when Mother Teresa — then Agnes — was only eight years old, her father suddenly fell ill and died. While the cause of his death remains unknown, many have speculated that political enemies poisoned him.

In the aftermath of her father’s death, Agnes became extraordinarily close to her mother, a pious and compassionate woman who instilled in her daughter a deep commitment to charity. Although by no means wealthy, Drana Bojaxhiu extended an open invitation to the city’s destitute to dine with her family. “My child, never eat a single mouthful unless you are sharing it with others,” she counseled her daughter. When Agnes asked who the people eating with them were, her mother uniformly responded, “Some of them are our relations, but all of them are our people.”

Education and Nunhood

Agnes attended a convent-run primary school and then a state-run secondary school. As a girl, she sang in the local Sacred Heart choir and was often asked to sing solos. The congregation made an annual pilgrimage to the Church of the Black Madonna in Letnice, and it was on one such trip at the age of 12 that she first felt a calling to religious life. Six years later, in 1928, an 18-year-old Agnes Bojaxhiu decided to become a nun and set off for Ireland to join the Sisters of Loreto in Dublin. It was there that she took the name Sister Mary Teresa after Saint Thérèse of Lisieux.

A year later, Sister Mary Teresa traveled on to Darjeeling, India, for the novitiate period; in May 1931, she made her First Profession of Vows. Afterward, she was sent to Calcutta, where she was assigned to teach at Saint Mary’s High School for Girls, a school run by the Loreto Sisters and dedicated to teaching girls from the city’s poorest Bengali families. Sister Teresa learned to speak both Bengali and Hindi fluently as she taught geography and history and dedicated herself to alleviating the girls’ poverty through education.

On May 24, 1937, she took her Final Profession of Vows to a life of poverty, chastity and obedience. As was the custom for Loreto nuns, she took on the title of “Mother” upon making her final vows and thus became known as Mother Teresa. Mother Teresa continued to teach at Saint Mary’s, and in 1944 she became the school’s principal. Through her kindness, generosity and unfailing commitment to her students’ education, she sought to lead them to a life of devotion to Christ. “Give me the strength to be ever the light of their lives, so that I may lead them at last to you,” she wrote in prayer.

‘Call Within a Call’

On September 10, 1946, Mother Teresa experienced a second calling, the “call within a call” that would forever transform her life. She was riding in a train from Calcutta to the Himalayan foothills for a retreat when she said Christ spoke to her and told her to abandon teaching to work in the slums of Calcutta aiding the city’s poorest and sickest people.

Since Mother Teresa had taken a vow of obedience, she could not leave her convent without official permission. After nearly a year and a half of lobbying, in January 1948 she finally received approval to pursue this new calling. That August, donning the blue-and-white sari that she would wear in public for the rest of her life, she left the Loreto convent and wandered out into the city. After six months of basic medical training, she voyaged for the first time into Calcutta’s slums with no more specific a goal than to aid “the unwanted, the unloved, the uncared for.”

Missionaries of Charity

Mother Teresa quickly translated her calling into concrete actions to help the city’s poor. She began an open-air school and established a home for the dying destitute in a dilapidated building she convinced the city government to donate to her cause. In October 1950, she won canonical recognition for a new congregation, the Missionaries of Charity, which she founded with only a handful of members—most of them former teachers or pupils from St. Mary’s School.

As the ranks of her congregation swelled and donations poured in from around India and across the globe, the scope of Mother Teresa’s charitable activities expanded exponentially. Over the course of the 1950s and 1960s, she established a leper colony, an orphanage, a nursing home, a family clinic and a string of mobile health clinics.

In 1971, Mother Teresa traveled to New York City to open her first American-based house of charity, and in the summer of 1982, she secretly went to Beirut, Lebanon, where she crossed between Christian East Beirut and Muslim West Beirut to aid children of both faiths. In 1985, Mother Teresa returned to New York and spoke at the 40th anniversary of the United Nations General Assembly. While there, she also opened Gift of Love, a home to care for those infected with HIV/AIDS.

Mother Teresa’s Awards and Recognition

In February 1965, Pope Paul VI bestowed the Decree of Praise upon the Missionaries of Charity, which prompted Mother Teresa to begin expanding internationally. By the time of her death in 1997, the Missionaries of Charity numbered more than 4,000 — in addition to thousands more lay volunteers — with 610 foundations in 123 countries around the world.

The Decree of Praise was just the beginning, as Mother Teresa received various honors for her tireless and effective charity. She was awarded the Jewel of India, the highest honor bestowed on Indian civilians, as well as the now-defunct Soviet Union’s Gold Medal of the Soviet Peace Committee. In 1979, Mother Teresa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of her work “in bringing help to suffering humanity.”

Criticism of Mother Teresa

Despite this widespread praise, Mother Teresa’s life and work have not gone without its controversies. In particular, she has drawn criticism for her vocal endorsement of some of the Catholic Church’s more controversial doctrines, such as opposition to contraception and abortion. “I feel the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion,” Mother Teresa said in her 1979 Nobel lecture.

In 1995, she publicly advocated a “no” vote in the Irish referendum to end the country’s constitutional ban on divorce and remarriage. The most scathing criticism of Mother Teresa can be found in Christopher Hitchens’ book The Missionary Position: Mother Teresa in Theory and Practice, in which Hitchens argued that Mother Teresa glorified poverty for her own ends and provided a justification for the preservation of institutions and beliefs that sustained widespread poverty.

When and How Mother Teresa Died

After several years of deteriorating health, including heart, lung and kidney problems, Mother Teresa died on September 5, 1997, at the age of 87.

Peace is everybody’s desire, But violence never disappeared-Why?

Before getting into the topic, let us learn what is violence. Violence, as described by the WHO is the ” intentional use of physical force or power, threatened or actual, against oneself, another person, or against a group or community, that either results in or has a high likelihood of resulting in injury, death, psychological harm, maldevelopment or deprivation”. I believe simplifying this definition will make us loose out on something important. Developing such a strong definition for an act shows how it is affecting the humanity without any doubt.

WRVH DIVIDES VIOLENCE INTO THREE TYPES:

SELF DIRECTED VIOLENCE: The violence which is directed to harm one`s self. These include the forms of self harm such as suicide attempts, either successful or not, or even thinking about it. Attempts to injure or destruct body parts without conscious intention of suicide also included in this.

INTERPERSONAL VIOLENCE: Violence that occurs between family members or partners or individuals who may not know each other is included in this category. For example abuse of elders or children.

COLLECTIVE VIOLENCE: This is mainly what we see in public, I mean violence by group of people who identify themselves under a group against another group. This includes genocides, abuses of human rights etc.

Regardless of what type of violence is happening, its impact is always negative. Even witnessing a act of violence leaves a mark. Many people suffer from psychological disorders as the result of violence. Children who are victims of violence may develop insecurities, anxiety, antisocial behavior, anger issues etc.

Having witnessed or experienced violence, people always talk about having peace. There are so many measures explained over internet. But we don’t see any hope of getting rid of it any soon. Why is it so?

  • Preaching is easier than practicing: It`s easy to talk about anything and everything until you have to practice it. Asking for peace is not wrong, its the best thing to do. But only asking to have peace will not be sufficient. One should practice act of peace before preaching.
  • Peace is defined differently according to different perceptions people have: Peace is just the absence of war for somebody and for somebody its peace of mind. Some people think peace is present in what they believe according to their religion or some may describe it as absence of difference.
  • Increase in stress and pressure by various things: It is like a loop. Violence increases stress which may again result in violence. Its like a mother abusing children because of the harassment she faces in the family. Or stress can be induced by other things also which may result in violence. Like a person who is so stressed out in work may abuse family members as a way to vent out his/her frustration.
  • Sometimes, nobody cares: People don’t take violent behaviors seriously until someone they love or themselves face it. Thinking about violence as some other persons problem until it knocks your door is slowing down peace in the race.
  • Increasing materialism: We may not see the direct impact of materialism on violence. But greed of power, money, supremacy and many more other things blurs out peace from the frame.

Then what is the thing that brings peace in a real sense and brings it effectively? nobody knows. That doesn’t mean you should not hope for it. But one thing is sure that it should start from the individual level but definition should be universal. Whatever may be our beliefs, peace should be the ultimate goal.

Don’t forget your roots, your Parents

When a child is born, the two happiest souls on the earth are the parents. It is a lovely creation of god and it is a part of their body. The child now grows up. Shouts in the afternoon, cries in the night and the parents, they are continuously engaged in handling the baby. After sometime child starts calling ‘mummy’ and ‘papa’, and listening this is a dream of every parent. Now as time passes by the kid starts going to school, then college, then the little child who is developed into an adult gets a job and finally gets married to someone.

But as it is general rule that time passes for everyone, for the child’s transformation into an adult and the younger parents getting older by each passing day. Initially it was the responsibility of the parents to take care of that innocent infant but in old age parents need attention from the children, they want someone to talk them, to listen them but unfortunately only few elderly people are lucky in true sense to have responsible children.

In India as people are following the west, the culture of living in a joint family is ending and now people want privacy. Privacy is so important for these grown up children that even their parents who made them enter the world become just a burden.

People in the name of being modern are leaving their parents all alone to agonize in their loneliness and old age. Human beings when become older certain physical and mental changes happen inside the body and let me tell you, which is all very natural. Everyone goes through the same phase and ha to go through the same phase. One can’t reverse the time; hence not even the ageing factor too. People send their parents to old age homes, so that their parents won’t disturb their private and married life.

Development is good, accepting the new trends and getting familiar with the current time is also good but leaving them all alone for agonizing with hunger and loneliness, who gave birth to you, taught you walking talking, eating and what not. In India many children leave their parents and get settled somewhere else and never comeback. Parents who were so happy that they’ve got such cute and lovely kid whom they’ll be making a good, responsible adult, are left with pain, sadness and tears.

There are many incidents to prove the same. Recently, one year back it was in news that an old woman jumped off from the terrace of her building. Everyone including his son and daughter in law were all, so sad. But after investigation and the CCTV footage it was revealed that the son himself dragged her mother upstairs and throws her away from the terrace as she was old and suffering from a disease. This is so painful to listen and read. The mother who carried him in her womb for 9 months facing all the pains and difficulties was killed by his son himself. Hearing and listening such incidents, shatter the heart.

The mind is compelled to think that how these so called civilized but uncultured and heartless children do such shameful acts against Humanity. Parents are the protective shield who prevent their children from landing into different types of problems.

The world will progress each day, each year, but an individual needs to stay grounded and humble towards his or her parents. Parents are the ones who spent their entire life in forming the future and the entire life of their children and this must not be forgotten. Parents and elderly are needed to be given proper respect and attention. The responsibility of taking care of their parents’ physical as well as mental health has to be taken by the children only.

Therefore it is time to meet and hug your parents and making themselves feel so good that yes, they are not alone. Their children are there beside them in this life of journey.

And each parent deserves all the happiness and respect from his children.
