Skill development is a powerful tool to safeguard the future of youth and for their overall development. It is an important way to increase the employment rate of India. Skills are as essential as one’s academic qualifications. Education and skills should now go hand in hand to be successful. In today’s world, lack of education and skill development restricts people from realizing their potential capabilities and abilities. Eventually, this prevents them from contributing to the economic growth of a country. Thus, education and skill training is vital for the overall growth and personality development of an individual.
Illiteracy is one such reason for lack of skill training. The capability of the poorest sections of society to start business is restricted owing to because of their lack of business skills, illiteracy, their inability to take risks, capital, lack of investment, etc. It would be far better to upgrade their skills so that they can get employed. The strategy of the Ministry of Labor to specialize on skill upgradation has contributed significantly to this mission.
According to the World Trade Organization, the GDP level can increase up to 3%-5% in 2035, if India focuses on skill development and training. India has taken many initiatives in this regard. The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) is responsible for coordinating skill development activities in India. It has supported various organizations like National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), which aims to promote skill development in the country by establishing institutes across the country and National Skill Development Agency (NSDA), which seeks to coordinate the efforts of the government and the private sector and aid in skill development.

Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched the Skill India Mission, under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship on 15 July 2015, which aims to train over 40 crore people in India in different skills by 2022. The mission seeks to vocational training and certification of Indian youth for a better livelihood and respect in the society. Various initiatives under this campaign are National Skill Development Mission, National Policy for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, 2015, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), Skill Loan scheme, Rural India Skill etc.

SHORT STORIES WITHIN NOVELS:

A story within a story is referred to as an embedded narrative. The embedded narrative is a literary device in which a character within a story becomes the narrator of a second story within the first one. Multiple layers of stories within stories are sometimes called Nested Stories. These stories mostly exist in a book to enlighten people. Sometimes the author himself wrote some short stories which are really motivating and alluring, then he might include them in his novels. In the other case, the author pushes himself to write short stories which will be suitable within his/her novels.

We all love stories, especially short stories. So, we will look at some stories within stories or stories within novels or dramas one by one as parts of segments.

THE ALCHEMIST: BY PAULO COELHO

The shopkeeper sent his son to learn about the secret of happiness from the wisest man in the world. The lad wandered through the desert for forty days, and finally came upon a beautiful castle, high atop a mountain. It was there that the wise man lived.

“Rather than finding a saintly man, though, our hero, on entering the main room of the castle, saw a hive of activity: tradesmen came and went, people were conversing in the corners, a small orchestra was playing soft music, and there was a table covered with platters of the most delicious food in that part of the world. The wise man conversed with everyone, and the boy had to wait for two hours before it was his turn to be given the man’s attention.

“The wise man listened attentively to the boy’s explanation of why he had come, but told him that he didn’t have time just then to explain the secret of happiness. He suggested that the boy look around the palace and return in two hours.

“‘Meanwhile, I want to ask you to do something,’ said the wise man, handing the boy a teaspoon that held two drops of oil. ‘As you wander around, carry this spoon with you without allowing the oil to spill.’

“The boy began climbing and descending the many stairways of the palace, keeping his eyes fixed on the spoon. After two hours, he returned to the room where the wise man was.

“‘Well,’ asked the wise man, ‘did you see the Persian tapestries that are hanging in my dining hall? Did you see the garden that it took the master gardener ten years to create? Did you notice the beautiful parchments in my library?’

“The boy was embarrassed and confessed that he had observed nothing. His only concern had been not to spill the oil that the wise man had entrusted to him.

“‘Then go back and observe the marvels of my world,’ said the wise man. ‘You cannot trust a man if you don’t know his house.’

“Relieved, the boy picked up the spoon and returned to his exploration of the palace, this time observing all of the works of art on the ceilings and the walls. He saw the gardens, the mountains all around him, the beauty of the flowers, and the taste with which everything had been selected. Upon returning to the wise man, he related in detail everything he had seen.

“‘But where are the drops of oil I entrusted to you?’ asked the wise man.

“Looking down at the spoon he held, the boy saw that the oil was gone.

“‘Well, there is only one piece of advice I can give you,’ said the wisest of wise men. ‘The secret of happiness is to see all the marvels of the world, and never to forget the drops of oil on the spoon.’

Through this story author express, that one should follow his dreams and must take care of his responsibilities also. That’s the secret of happiness.

Ethical Hacking and IT

Data Technology (IT) is one of the greatest and most mainstream businesses as far as building up a profession on the planet today. Industry 4.0 has invited various innovative headways because of which specific IT experts have discovered conspicuousness, in IT organizations as well as in different enterprises. Maybe, the most famous among them is a vocation in online protection.

More than 1 billion network safety experts are required to be sought after over the course of the following 2 years in this field, making it perhaps the most worthwhile profession ways on the planet today. Notwithstanding being a mammoth association, National Health Services couldn’t shield themselves from a huge scope hack. A main nourishment application, MyFitnessPal, likewise went through a monstrous security penetrate where the individual information of more than 150 million clients was taken. The recurrence of these assaults has expanded off-late, making network safety basic in each association.

Huge banks and gems stores regularly enlist proficient hoodlums to endeavor burglaries, to recognize provisos in their security frameworks. Through these preliminaries, these establishments can reliably redesign their security frameworks, to ultimately arrive at a phase of becoming invulnerable. Taking motivation from this interaction, the network protection space has likewise reversed the situation on hacking and made it a legitimized idea through moral hacking.

Moral hacking is a cycle through which experts are paid to hack into an association, to pinpoint weaknesses in the security framework that the association needs to fix. Ill-conceived programmers have likewise discovered lawful conspicuousness in the IT world today because of the developing significance of moral hacking as an idea.

Moral programmers are recruited and prepared to utilize a huge number of methods to attempt to penetrate various associations. They help in the identification of holes inside the security framework as well as during digital assaults.

Government associations wherein digital fighting holds extraordinary unmistakable quality, moral programmers are accustomed to balancing endeavors made by noxious programmers with the expectation of outmaneuvering them, and protecting the information. Another use of moral hacking is of supporting in the examination that follows a digital assault.

Law implementation offices frequently recruit moral programmers to follow the means of a programmer and distinguish the culprit.

Thinking about the incredibly specialized nature of the calling, a basic degree is for the most part insufficient to build up an effective vocation in the field a particular preparing is fundamental. Many driving IT organizations today offer affirmed courses in Ethical Hacking that involve the nuts and bolts of PC organizing as well as intricate methods and driving cycles for keeping up with digital protection.

Think inventively and out-of-the-box:

Aside from these specialized ideas, it is additionally fundamental for moral programmers to have the option to think imaginatively and out of the container. The explanation programmers are developing and can penetrate confounded security frameworks is that they are reliably attempting to concoct new ways and approaches for something very similar.

Another significant quality to have is critical thinking, as the expertise can be fortified after some time, and sharpened with experience and down to earth openness. In this manner, getting ready for a vocation in moral hacking needs to involve a decent blend of both, specialized and reasonable viewpoints.

Be that as it may, there is an exceptionally clear ability hole in the business today, and subsequently, an absence of qualified staff in the field. Attributable to the hole between the interest and supply of moral programmers, this vocation way has gotten very rewarding with monstrous extension later on.

MUST-READ TWO BOOKS BY PAULO COELHO – 2

Paulo Coelho wrote many best-selling books most of which are popular all around the world. And translated in various languages. One of his masterpieces is Alchemist. All of his works are related to self-help and motivational genres.

Book: Veronica Decides To Die

Veronica is a young woman who commits suicide due to being full of emptiness in her life. While she waiting for death after taking a lot of sleeping pills she fainted and found herself in an asylum alive. But Doctor said that she has only a few days to live due to a heart condition caused by the overdose. Her presence there affects all of the mental hospital’s patients, especially Zedka, who has clinical depression; Mari, who has panic attacks; and Eduard, who has schizophrenia, and with whom Veronika falls in love. At least she wants to live or not is the key base of this novel.

Why you should read this book:

This one is not a boring plot, book content moves slow still does not let you drop the idea to read it. And this contains good vocabulary which is worth recommending to every reader. If you ever tried or at least thought once to end your life read this one it will make you believe in Miracle.

Book Quotes:

People never learn anything by being told, they have to find out for themselves.

You are someone who is different, but who wants to be the same as everyone else.

You have two choices, to control your mind or to let your mind control you.

Note: This book is also adapted as a film by Emily Young in 2009.

Book: The Spy

Mata Hari, the beautiful woman, the dancer, the courtesan, and the spy. She was the center of attraction wherever she goes… As a dancer she delighted her audiences, as a courtesan, she bewitched the richest and powerful men of the era. But is she really a spy?

Why you should read this one:

This book is based on real events. Mata Hari is a real person who is accused of espionage and executed.

On the back cover, it says, “Fiction.” But, I would rather love to say it’s a historical work.

When a man sleeps with many women, do we care to say any terms? So, I can’t criticize Mata Hari for being a courtesan.

In this work, I can visualize how men treated women as an object during those time. They gave preference for outer appearance. They wanted their wife to be loyal. But, those rules aren’t for them. And those things made my heart shrunk.

Book Quotes:

I decided to be who I always dreamed of. And the price of a dream is always high.

When we don’t know where life is taking us, we are never lost.

At this moment, I look back at my life and realize that memory is a river, one that always runs backward.

Recommendations:

I don’t recommend both of these books to children especially if you are younger than sixteen. One book contains intimate scenes and another one contains sexual harassment scenes. Thus I would like to recommend these to elder readers who are more than sixteen.

Importance of Training and Internship

Internships and training are also like practicing the theoretical lessons in reality. It gives exposure to real-world activities. Nowadays, when employers give so much attention to resume, it shows you a far better opportunity to have some internship involved and your studies. A practical background pays a lot of effect on your resume and job opportunities. When you are looking for gaining experience, internships and training look the best way. If you take part in an internship at your college time then it can give you a job even before completing your college. A summer internship can be a distinguishing factor for winning a job opportunity. There are a lot of NGOs which provide the internship free of cost to meritorious and able students. A few of them are SNSMKS, TZF, YEF, TCSion, etc.

So, In this article, I would be discussing a few special importance of Internships and training. The importance can be pointed as follows:-
The exposure to the real-world and work environment
There are differences among being a Student, Intern, and trainee. As a student, you just learn the things but as an intern or trainee, you practice the things. You convert your learned theories to work. Here you learn how to behave with your seniors, managers and how to react to people. These things help a lot when you get your first job. As it is quite specific towards that companies and industries so you become able to know a lot about that company and its job and work structure. It also gives you a chance to try new ideas as here responsibilities are quite limited and the people are quite helpful.
Teaches you the importance of resume and work experience
When you go for an internship, either paid or unpaid, they normally give you a completion certificate. But when you do excellent in your work then gives you a Letter of Recommendation, as that is just another certificate but this has quite an excellent effect upon your future work. Here you come to know the real value of a resume. So, try to build a resume so that it shows a mirror image of you.
It allows you to know yourself better as a professional person
When you would search your mind for answers of this importance you will find that there you pass your day as an employee. You are having some work pressure, and you will be getting few more new problems. As when I was doing my last internship of fundraising I found that I am having a quite limited connection with people so I can’t collect any funds just with the help of family and friends. So, there I came to know that I should build a better network with people so that whenever I am part of such things, I may tell them and complete the work.
Creating a big network of professional people
When you go for an internship, it connects you with a lot of people other than your academic career. Here you get a chance to come in contact with a lot of successful business professionals, with them you may create your own network that helps you a lot when you try to get a job in companies. There are a lot of companies which hire people mostly with skills along with a reference, as a reference helps to believe upon that new person.
Helps you to get a job as a full-time career
As an intern when you become part of a company or an NGO and work for them, they also invest their time and money in you so they have some expectation out of you. If you do far better in your work as an intern then they offer you a full-time job, immediately or in the future as a full-time career.
So, an internship is an important time in one’s life upon which one should focus.
Now coming to our next topic which is the role of NGOs to help students in their internship.
There are a lot of job seekers who belong to a poor family, they can not afford to pay for their internship. The different NGOs help such people by allowing them to feel the corporate world and learn to compete with them.

A Space Dream

Yesterday when I lay asleep, a magical force lifted me from my bed and I found myself floating towards the skies rapidly. I saw the pale blue sphere that I was leaving behind. Earth never looked so magical before. I took a spin around the moon and marveled at the craters. I passed through the rings of Saturn and played hopscotch on the red soil of Mars. I made a snowman on the icy surface of Neptune. I saw the Milky Way from afar and was awestruck by the vast expanse of our Universe. I rode on the meteors that went whooshing by and saw pulsars and quasars. I almost got sucked into a black hole but pull myself away in time.I danced on the glowing surface of Venus and visited mercury.I took a spin around the sun without a single hair singed. After witnessing all the beautiful sight,I started feeling homesick. I slowly drifted back to the pale blue planet that we call home.Full of memories from the visit,I hoped to take another trip soon.Soon I was laid back on my bed and I drifted back into sleep.

7 Mumbai-Based Women Entrepreneurs Made a 1600 Cr empire from 80Rs – Lijjat Papad Case Study

Hi everybody, This is a story of 7 ordinary women who had no background in business, no significant educational qualification And with just 80 rupees in capital they were able to build a business empire worth 1600 crores which is spread across 69 branches and more than 42,000 employees. This home-grown brand that I’m talking about is none other than Shri Mahila Griha Udyog Lijjat Papad.

Now, what’s more fascinating about this company is not the growth of the company but the fact that the business philosophies of this home-grown company somehow seems to have very close resemblance to extraordinary companies like Starbucks and Apple also. The question is- What is so special about this papad company and how has it lasted for more than 62 years ? And how did these 7 women manage to build a business empire out of just ₹80 in capital ? The answer to this question lies in the incredible history of the Lijjat papad.

This is a story that dates back to the late 1950s India when India was a fairly underdeveloped country. And back then let alone education, even literacy was considered to be a luxury. And even in terms of literacy during those times woman’s literacy was not even considered important because of which only 8% of women in India could read and write while 92% of women in India were illiterates. On top of that, women were not even allowed to go out and work and the earning capacity of the families was not enough to afford a decent standard of living. That is when in 1959, Mumbai.

A group of 7 amazing women from very ordinary background came together to discuss a business idea which wouldn’t need them to step out of the house, wouldn’t need education and yet could produce a competitive product in the market. Ladies and gentlemen, that is how the idea of Lijjat Papad was born with just ₹80 of capital that was given to them by a social worker. They first started selling their papads at a local store and soon enough due to the superb quality and taste of the papad even other shops started buying their papads. And that’s when they started scaling up.

Now, when they started scaling they had the opportunity to hire women at a dearth cheap cost because they were one of the rarest avenues of income for women which allowed them to work from home. But you know what ? When these women had their first board meeting they established the fact that the primary goal of their business wouldn’t be to make money but to empower women from the smallest households of the country and to provide them with the livelihood to nurture their family. And mor importantly they also established the fact that money would only be used as a fuel to scale their impact on the women of India and not be the sole purpose of their existence.

So instead of hiring women they started to give out ownership to every woman who joined their business and called them Lijjat Sisters rather than employees. This is what you call as collective ownership, wherein every employee owns a small part of the company such that the profits and losses, both are shared by every single person in the organisation. So regardless of your age, caste, religion even if you were at the lowest hierarchy of the Lijjat Papad organisation you’d still own a part of the business.

Now, most of us might think that this is just another business move but I gotta tell you guys that this attribute of collective ownership is one of the foundational principles that make Starbucks an extraordinary company. Because you know what ? Just like the sisters of Lijjat papad own a small part of the company regardless of their position in the organisation, every employee at starbucks is considered as a partner in the business rather than an employee. Everyone starting from the baristas who serve coffee to the customers all the way upto the senior management officers, each one of them are offered stock options of the company.

So this way, just like the Lijjat sisters every employee in Starbucks could be a small owner of the company And this move develops a deep sense of ownership which cultivates a culture of greatness wherein every employee is motivated to go out of the way and to contribute diligently towards the growth of the organisation. But the only difference between both these companies is that while Starbucks ideated this with MBA masterminds and with a million dollar capital backing the 7 sisters of Lijjat did it way before Starbucks, in 1959 without even knowing what an MBA degree is.

Such was the business acumen of these incredible women. The second phase of Lijjat was building a robust supply chain that would be cost effective, would ensure quality production and would fit the lifestyle of the women who work for the company. So instead of having huge office spaces they used the houses of the sisters as their small centres of papad making. And this is what their supply chain looked like The flour would first arrive from the mills to the respective central location wherein the dough is made. And after the dough is made the sisters will be brought by a bus facility provided by the company.

Over here they would collect the doughs and then go home, make papads dry them on the veranda and then deliver the papads the next day. And lastly, after the delivery of the papads they would collect their money and the dough for the next cycle. This would be followed by surprise visits by the supervisors to check the quality of oil they use, the hygiene check of the house and most importantly the process of making papads. Now the sisters are also given aluminium papad makers to ensure that the papad is produced in a standardised manner. This happens at all the branches. If one of these branches does very well the profits are distributed among the sisters. And if not, the losses are borne by the branch members together. And after all of this comes the most challenging part of all and that is sticking to the vision and mission statement of the company.

Now people, for most of us mission and vision statements are just stupid formalities and they have no real significance for us.  At the same time in case of colleges also even your principle wouldn’t remember the vision and mission statement of your college and if he did it would only be because he mugged it up because some committee was visiting to give your college some stupid certification or some accreditation. And this is the reason why most of us do not understand the importance of mission and vision statements.

But here’s a thing guys Mission and vision statements form the very foundations of every single organisation. And when designed and followed the right way it can help the organisation sustain for a century. At the same time, if not done right they can even bring down a million dollar business. A classy example of the same is Apple. Now people, when Steve Jobs got fired from Apple in 1984, Apple was a million dollar company. Until he was there at the company, the company stuck to it’s value. And it was a formidable player in the industry. But after he left, they started to derail from their values. And within just 10 years they were almost about to go bankrupt.

That’s when Steve Jobs got called back to Apple to fix things and get the company back on track. And you know what ? After he took over the company, the first question he asked to every single engineer to every single deisgner and every single manager was What does Apple stand for ? And what are the values that we believe in as a company. Because the biggest mistake that Apple made was while he was not around they started to loose their identity and started to deviate from their values because of which they started making products with no sense of purpose.

Eventually, the brand lost it’s unique identity and customer loyalty just faded away. So Steve baba comes back asks this question and within some time the entire team is absolutely clear as to what exactly they were supposed to do. And this is what got them the ‘Think Different’ campaign that told the world what Apple truly stood for. And that is “Think Different”. And within just 2 years the same company with the same engineers and the exact same resources then went on to create history to become a legendary company that made products that changed the world forever. And again as soon as Steve baba left we all know what’s happening with Apple.

This is the importance of mission and vision statements. And here’s the most mind-blowing fact of all. In it’s 62 years of existence, not a single time Lijjat Papad has ever deviated from it’s core values. And even today After expanding to 67 branches and scaling up to 42,000 employees and after exporting their products to 15 different countries. They still abide by the core philosophy of their business, that is, Sarvodaya, which means Progress for all.

While we live in a world where billion dollar corporates, even with the slightest change in the policies wouldn’t think twice before firing thousands of employees and putting each one of their family’s life at stake. On the other side we have got Lijjat Papad wherein with every single machinery they bring in for automation, they make sure that not a single woman is asked to leave the organisation. Because they are 100% clear that their ultimate purpose of business is not to make money but the empowerment of women so that they can give their family and children a better quality of life.

On one side where we have got these evil companies who would put the health of their frontline workers at stake just to maximize their profits. On the other hand we have got Lijjat Papad wherein even if they have a great year, they make use of the extra profits to sponsor the education of the children of their frontline workers regardless of their age, caste, religion or even the position in the organisation.

And they do all of this just so that the next generation of these frontline workers can be given the opportunities that they truly deserve. And last and most importantly while inspite of being at the pinnacle of the technological revolution there are people like you and me who often keep doubting our capabiities. And here we see a standing example of 7 incredible women who had no educational qualification. no background in business and no fancy investor. And yet, they were able to build a business empire that is now empowering generations of women all across the country.

And that too during a time when women had no scope of opportunities. If this isn’t an epitome of greatness I don’t know what is…. bye bye.

Myths about Counseling

Mental health challenges affect millions of people around the world. In any given year, unfortunately, misconceptions and myths around counselling and talk therapy often discourage people from seeking help and contribute to the stigma surrounding mental health issues. The truth is that counselling has the ability to help almost anyone with mental health concerns, social issues and personal development. But another truth is that every person is very unique – they will respond to and experience counselling differently and a method that works for one person is not necessarily going to work for someone else. If you have tried counselling before and didn’t find it helpful we encourage you to try again, with a different counsellor and/or different method.

Myth 1: Counselling is only for major issues or “crazy” people : Yes, counselling can help you through major life issues and traumas but those aren’t the only situations where counselling can work for you. Sometimes we just need someone unbiased to talk to about a situation or feelings we’re having – and that’s okay. It’s normal to seek help for problems large and small or simply when you’re not feeling quite yourself and you don’t know why. Counselling does not need to be used as a reactive measure when life gets hard. It can also be preventative and help provide you mental and emotional tools and strategies to use in future times of stress. We see physicians for prevention through annual check-ups – we can think of counselling in the same way.

Myth 2: Admitting that you need help and going for counselling means you’re weak: The concepts of weakness and vulnerability tend to get confused with each other. There is vulnerability in sharing what you’re going through and what you’re feeling, but that is not a sign of weakness. It is courageous to open up to someone. It’s an act of strength to take steps to better yourself when you’re not feeling your best. Vulnerability is not a weakness but rather a quality to take pride in, not be shameful of.

Myth 3: Counselling doesn’t help or will make the situation worse : Every person is different, and every person has different needs – the results from counselling are not going to be identical for everyone. But most of the time, counselling will provide you with support, new perspectives, and a plan to tackle your problems.

Myth 4: The counsellor doesn’t know me, so they can’t help me : When things aren’t going quite right and we want advice, we turn to our family and friends – people that know us and care about us. Having social connections is extremely important for maintaining mental wellness but our loved ones normally don’t have the skills or the objectivity needed. We’re not recommending that you turn away from loved ones or that their advice can’t be helpful, but counsellors are an excellent additional resource to guide you through difficult times. An unbiased, impartial trained professional can give insight into the situations and feelings that you’re having that you would not be able to get from people that are close to you. Professional counsellor’s training and experience can help beyond the well-intentioned advice of your loved ones.

Myth 5: Counselling takes a long time and costs a lot : The length of time, or number of sessions needed with a counsellor will greatly vary depending on many factors, such as:

  • How long you’ve been dealing with the issue
  • The severity of the problem
  • The time you need to make any necessary changes (i.e. Habits, copying mechanisms, etc.

Myth 6: Couples counselling is only for people that have problems in their relationship : Just like you need to water a plant to make it grow, or practice an instrument to master it, you also need to work on a relationship if you want it to thrive. Take the plant analogy – you wouldn’t just water your plant when its leaves are wilted and it’s near death. You would water it on a regular basis, even when it’s healthy looking and vibrant. Working on skills with your partner like communication, conflict resolution, and intimacy when your relationship is strong, is just as important as building on those skills when times are tough. Having the desire to improve your relationship with some help doesn’t mean your relationship isn’t good or that it won’ last – it means that you care enough about your partner to invest in the relationship.

Myth 7: They will blame my parents for everything : Every struggle you go through is unique. And the process to heal from those struggles is going to vary. Much of your work with your counsellor will be guided by you – the areas of your life you want to focus on: past, present and future. For some situations it can be helpful to analyze your past and see how your environment and the people around you shaped how you respond to things today. Some situations are best solved by looking at current behaviours. Regardless if you and your counsellor analyze your past or your present, the most important thing to keep in mind is that counselling is not about assigning blame, but learning how to have a healthy mental outlook and have healthy relationships with yourself and others.

Myth 8: All counsellors are the same – If you didn’t have success with one, counselling won’t work for you : You don’t “click” with every single person you meet and everyone doesn’t respond the same way to the same exact form of any kind of treatment. Counsellors and counselling treatments are no different and not every counsellor will be a perfect fit for you. That’s okay. We want you to see results from your counselling experience. When you request counselling from Calgary Counselling Centre, we ask many questions to make sure you are assigned to the type of counsellor you prefer and that you’ll receive the type of treatment that is most likely to achieve the best results. If after a few sessions the relationship with you and your counsellor doesn’t seem to be a match, you can request another counsellor. We promise, your counsellor will not be offended by this, on the contrary, they want the best for you.

Importance of Training and Internship

Over the years, the Indian education system has landed itself into myriad controversies as it is often criticized by the masses for its sheer inability to go beyond the four walls of the classroom and non-deliverance of an all-round enriching, practical learning experience to the pupils. The critics argue further that its biggest problem is the lack of emphasis on experiential learning and undue focus given to rote learning. As a result of this, the students bear the brunt of this massive shortcoming, often being faced with a bombshell when they enter the job market, looking for gainful employment.
At that stage, they find themselves unequipped with relevant skills as well as unbeknownst to professional
requirements and work culture.

Against the backdrop of the wedge between the education system and the job market, training and internships come to the rescue of the budding young talent to endow them with a strong foundation and a bright future.
An internship is a short-term work commitment made by a student with an organisation, whether paid or unpaid for the purpose of gaining a hands-on-experience in the relevant field. It is usually aligned to the student’s career goal and thus, holds of utmost significance to his/her career prospects in the specific field.
The first and foremost advantage that an internship offers is exposure to the professional environment, skill requirements and work-culture in the field of interest. It promises a formidable opportunity to the students to apply classroom teaching in real life work-scenarios, broadens the horizons of their knowledge and helps them to learn to accommodate themselves in a professional setting.
It’s rightly said, “What you learn, you may forget but what you experience, you will always retain”.This precisely puts forth the marvel of experiential learning that a student can savour using the tool of training & internship.
Our education system too has been trying to play fair its own part in overcoming the obstacle of excessively theoretical, syllabus bound learning remote from practicality with the incorporation of case studies at secondary & higher levels. What is more, many postgraduate schools such as MBA institutes are trying to engage students in group discussions, corporate case studies and debates over global issues so to enhance their knowledge about how things operate in the real world. However, they can never pale into insignificance, the true foundational experience that an internship promises. It continues to standout as a worthwhile experience and does not fail to deliver upon its promise helping students to not only gain a competitive edge in today’s globalised world but contributing equally to their personality development by imparting them life skills.
Another incredible advantage is that the students are set to gain both personally & professionally under the guidance of experts in the field as they work in an organization. Besides, they have the opportunity to build valuable contacts in the relevant field through networking which might come handy later when they enter the industry as employees.
Organizations and employers are also benefitted as they can evaluate the fresh talent and infuse their innovative, nouvelle ideas to create something of value using a fresh perspective for the organisation. Sometimes, they may even find suitable candidates who can transform into valuable human resource in the disguise of interns and thus, may be able to hire qualified young people on a full time commitment. In such a case, prospective employees no longer need to set off on a job hunting spree post completion of degrees while employers too can employ highly qualified and tested new talent acquainted with their work-culture. Therefore, internships are able to create a mutually beneficial relationship between the two.
There is no denying the fact that internships help enhance resume or CV but they indeed offer a lot more than just that. Fresh graduates are not bombarded with sky-high expectations of employers abruptly. They know precisely what to expect and what the employers expect from them in addition to how the career is going to contribute to their all-round growth. With this being said, internships can be considered to be a crucial point of decision-making if students are infested with doubts regarding how a particular field would shape their career. They may explore multiple fields before taking the ultimate plunge into that one career that is meant for them and for which they are best suited for.
Henceforth, internships help tremendously in choosing the right career path based on experience and rationale rather than impulse or hearsay. It brings us to the conclusion that training & internships are crucial to bridging the gap between education system and job market even as they prepare the budding talent of tomorrow to hone requisite skills and pursue their scintillating dreams unflinching, embracing a brighter future.

IIT-MADRAS, AVISHKAR HYPERLOOP TEAM QUALIFIES FOR EUROPEAN HYPERLOOP WEEK

A group of students with team named “AVISHKAR” from IIT Madras have been working tremendously towards the technology behind the future of transportation, HYPERLOOP. The team comprises of forty students from various department of IIT, madras. They have been working on this new prototype hyperloop project since last November.

BUT, WHAT IS HYPERLOOP?

Basically, hyperloop is a high speed mass transportation system. A hyperloop is a super speed ground-level transportation system in which people could travel in a hovering pod inside a vacuum tube at speeds as high as 760 mph (1220 km/h).

While talking about the product, Neel said, “Hyperloop is a proposed mode of transportation in which many pods will be traveling inside a vacuum tube, capable of attaining high speeds due to no air friction and reduced air drag.” It IS the fifth and most efficient mode of transportation that the world is moving towards, he added. Further he said, “Because Hyperloop is sustainable, it works on electrical energy, we can install Solar panels on top of the tube, which could store energy and the same energy could be used to propel the hyperloop. This is way more sustainable .”

HOW DOES A HYPERLOOP WORK?

It has three major components: a tube, pod, and terminal. The tube is a large low pressure system that is sealed and tube can be constructed either above or below the ground. A pod is a coach that runs inside this controlled system and this pod employs magnetic or aerodynamic levitation along with electromagnetic or aerodynamic propulsion to glide along a fixed guideway. The terminals are used for arrivals and departures. Hyperloop is based on simple science called Magnetic levitation. But one thing that needs to be noted is, that it requires complex machinery and sensors to make a Pod travel at nearly 1000 km/h inside a vacuum tube. However the team has cracked that and named their pod “GARV”, which translates to “PRIDE”. It consists of Carbon Fiber shell, packed with advanced machinery and sensors.

STATEMENT:

Pranit, who is Head of Braking Module, said that Garv is their second Pod which is more efficient and lighter than the one they designed for SpaceX. “This time we are introducing several technologies like linear induction motor to achieve ‘contactless propulsion’ and ‘contactless braking. The motor produces a magnetic field which makes the Pod move forward and the contactless Braking has magnets which come closer to the rail, creating a Braking force and decelerating the Pod,” Pranit added.

Parth, a member of the Controls team, said, “Our team started in November. Everything we did online such as brainstorming sessions and discussions about the simulations. Once we were confident, we came back to the institute and started working on the Pod.” He said, “We are participating in European Hyperloop Week which will be conducted on 19th – 25th July and Valencia, Spain. Because of the pandemic, we are forced to compete virtually, but that is not a setback for us.”

EUROPEAN HYPERLOOP WEEK SELECTION:

With all their hard work, they have now crossed the hurdle and are qualified for the European Hyperloop Week that is to be held in Valencia, Spain from July 19 to 25. The team will participate virtually due to pandemic restrictions. With upgraded prototype, the team estimates the travel time between Chennai and Bangalore to be a mere 30 minutes ride instead of a six hours journey. They are also working on the study of energy, costs, demands and other aspects of hyperloop so as to access the economic feasibility of hyperloop in India.

Towards Data Science

With the gradual increase in data day by day, the need for its storage also grew. This was a big challenge in front of the enterprise industries until 2010. The prime objective was to build a framework and solution to store data. This is where Data Science came to the rescue.

Today, in this article we’ll get a sneak peak into Data Science and its related infos and probably by the end of this article, you will be able to understand what Data Science is and its role in extracting meaningful insights from the complex and large sets of data.

What is Data Science?

Data science is the field of study that integrates domain expertise, programming skills, and knowledge of mathematics and statistics to extract meaningful insights from data.

It can also be defined as the process of using algorithms, methods and systems to extract knowledge and insights from structured and unstructured data. It is a blend of various tools, algorithms, and machine learning principles with the goal to discover hidden patterns from the raw data.

Who is a Data Scientist?

In the most simple term, a Data Scientist is one who knows the art of Data Science. Data scientists are the ones who crack complex data problems with their strong expertise in certain scientific and mathematical disciplines. They draw a lot of information from the scientific fields and applications whether it is statistics or mathematics and apply it to the raw data to generate useful insights.

Why Data Science is Important?

Data Science is important in order to generate maximum value from a raw set of data for any business. The insights that a data scientists generates is very useful to drive business decisions and take actions intended to achieve business goals.

The Pillars of Data Science

Although there are numerous skills and expertise that are highly desirable in Data Science, but these are the four major areas in my opinion :

  • Business/Domain
  • Mathematics (Particularly Stats and Probability)
  • Computer Science
  • Communication Skills

Data Scientist vs Data Analyst vs Data Engineers

Data Analyst
Data Analyst is the one who analyzes numeric data and uses it to help companies make better decisions.

Data Engineer
The job of a Data Engineer is to prepare data.

Data Scientist
The Data Sceintist analyzes and interprets complex data.

Is it worth to go with Data Science in 2021 ?

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there will be a tremendous growth in the data science field which will lead to an increase in the number of jobs by about 28% through 2026. If we convert this 28 % in numbers then it will be roughly 11.5 million new jobs in the field.

And reasons that make favour Data Science as a very good career option are the high demand for Data Scientist while the supply is still low. Also there is lack of competition for these jobs in comparison to the other trending job options. These factors combined together makes this field a very lucrative and smooth option as a career path.
