Print Media during Pandemic

THE INTERVENTION OF DOWNFALL

On January 27, 2020, with the first Covid-19 case an alarming situation was alerted by the Government of  India, where it was strictly advised to keep distance in crowded places and wear masks when outside, with the growing cases Prime Minister Narendra Modi eventually announced the first complete lockdown on 25 March 2020 – 31 May 2020, limiting the public movement, which was later increased.

This affected the work of billions of people living in India the ones who had their livelihood depending on daily wages were on the edge of depression and existential crisis. One of the aspects which were deeply affected by the lockdown was production in media, specifically Print Media.

SURVIVAL OF PRINT MEDIA

“Everything that rises has to set off someday.”

The print media has enjoyed its glory days for more than 120 years and it is one of the most reliable and old fields of Media and sources of news. Covid-19 has severely impacted print media and has resulted in a sharp drop in the number of readerships due to disruption in circulation. The print media was trying to keep afloat financially and at the same time to keep the readers informed.

Though we all know, that the new technologies and introduction of online media have already affected print media, the time of pandemic and the inevitable challenges have worsened the situation even more.

Along with that, some of the cascading effects of the pandemic on print media include:

  • journalists being laid-off.
  • cut down on the number of pages in the newspaper.
  • major newspapers were drastically reduced at a national level.
  • national newspapers decided to restrict the physical copies.
  • all the media houses and publications faced a financial crash.

The question arises that would there be a post-pandemic “old print media” recovery? It is very doubtful and threatening to think upon the fact that the old print media houses might convert themselves to digital media which is so much more easy, convenient, and perhaps less expensive and may create more profitable situations as compared to print media. As they have gone under heavy financial loss during the period of the pandemic which has been going on for over 19 months now.

Small states newspapers did face a horrible pandemic onslaught because of the cut on advertisements because of the lockdown, despite all of it newspapers have remained peculiar in providing a wide range of coverage of the pandemic, combating misinformation and providing public health updates, and entertainment to help the normal public cope with pandemic boredom, being locked in their houses on their own.

PRINT MEDIA AND EDUCATION

It is said that print media had played a crucial role in educating people on the precautionary measures during the time of the pandemic. It educated people all over the country through the leading newspapers, in all the languages, besides mass circulated social media as well.

The people who are still unaware of the advancement in technology and are far from affording digital techniques of staying updated, print media for them has been and will always be reliable at any time.

The new methods of media and coverage might be easier to manage and less expensive but print media cannot be outdone with the new evading advancements, for it holds the 120-year-old of trust which is quite resilient to shatter.

“The quality of news coverage has diminished because the giants of the print media are no longer being nurtured properly.”

EPI INDEX

The Environment Performance Index (EPI) is a summary of the sustainable development status of 180 countries around the world. The index uses 32 performance measures for the following 11 issue categories:

  1. Air quality
  2. Sanitation and drinking water
  3. Heavy metals
  4. Waste management
  5. Biodiversity and habitat
  6. Ecosystem services
  7. Fisheries
  8. Climate change
  9. Pollution emissions
  10. Agriculture
  11. Water resources

These categories track the performance and progress towards the two main policies, environmental health and ecosystem vitality. EPI provides a scorecard after analyzing the environmental performance of the country. The EPI highlights toppers and laggards in the environmental performance, and provides viable guidance for the countries seeking a sustainable future.

EVALUATION

As a composite index, the Environmental Performance Index aggregates the data of many sustainability indicators into one particular number. The data for EPI comes from trusted third-party sources, such as international government agencies, NGOs, and academic research centers. From the data provided EPI draws an indicator scale of 0-100 (from worst to best performance). At the end, the scores of each country are weighed and aggregated into issue categories and then into EPI score. The EPI index shows which countries can best solve the environmental challenges. For the first time, the 2020 EPI rankings included waste management metric and an indicator on CO2 emissions.

DREAMS

 YOUR DREAMS ARE POSSIBLE

We may be rich or poor, kind or cruel, beautiful or ugly, smart or weak but still we can accommodate a dream. Most importantly don’t ever have a small dream:)Some people may not agree with this rather they would like to criticize on this.

IT IS POSSIBLE EVEN IN THE HARDSHIPS:

The biggest fear is how to face the dream because of the present situations we might have right now or the threat of the future, but not let the tomorrow’s dream destroyed by today’s situation because of the fear. The biggest fear is how to face the fear. At once, if we face it with full potential, we will able to shape our future. It is all about the small things which creates a great impact on the future.

PAINT YOUR DREAMS:

Painting our dreams is the best way we can do! At once when we come to know what we want at the right time we will be knowing how to get it also. Dreams should be balanced with the holistic vision. With the millions of the resources in the world, plenty of opportunities which we have in the world behind us and it really becomes silly when we start making small or selfish dreams. No one would like to carry waste things in the Audi right! Even though it has the capacity to withstand it, we won’t do it as it does not perfectly. If some things are accepted by many it is not that we are also supposed to do that. Check out your time, area of interest and do great things because we are having power to do that.

DISCOVER YOUR DREAM:

When we come to know about what dream is actually, we can start realizing the true power of it. We start living in it to the maximum. Sometimes, we never realize the amazing talent inside us, we are all only learnt to see others talents and admire them which makes us to behave small and worthless before others. This kind of attitude is to be removed once when you realize at once.

Passion is what your dream is! We are able to distinguish between the real and the fake dream. If so, then we are also able to find the way for our dream. Successful persons are those who have a burning passion with dream inside them and that’s why they are successful today and that success should not be a narcissistic one.

Make a little star in you to shine bright in the darkest times. You are still unique even though we live in the mid of varied of varied people. It is good to dream, but better to dream and work. Faith is might but action is mightier. This is because action speaks louder than words.

NOTHING IS OVER UNTIL YOU RACE!

If you have decided to grow and not ready to face challenges and hard times, there is no liveliness in that. No bird goes to a dry land, no cattle go to the empty field, no human can face a dream without the challenge and this is the bitter truth.

Make your environment suitable for your dream. Have likeminded people around you. No matter how hard the life goes or how people comment on your attitude, it is still good to achieve your powerful dream with broad vision.

Don’t work your boss or leader, work for your dream because that can only give you satisfaction.

Don’t wait for your winter, work to change your summer a super cooled one.

“A gem cannot be polished without fiction, nor man without trials”, start facing your challenges and achieve your dreams.

STAYING MOTIVATED WHILE STUDYING

Some people say that the hardest step in studying is to get started. Once you have taken the first step, the rest is easy, they suggest.

Other people, however, find it difficult to stay motivated when studying, especially when the end seems a long way away.

A Strategy for You👉

There is no single strategy that will work for everyone in supporting ongoing motivation.

However, there are plenty of options that you can try, to see if they work for you. If they do, you should incorporate them into your ongoing strategy. If not, then put them aside and try something else.

The important thing is whether your strategy keeps you motivated, not whether other people agree with you.

Tips for staying motivated👇

1. Designated study space

The first step to help you motivate yourself to study at home involves creating a designated space for your learning and revision to take place. Whether it’s a desk in your bedroom, or a portion of the kitchen table, make sure you sit in this same space each time you want to study, so your body gets into a routine of knowing that this is the space in which it needs to focus.

2. Effective study schedule

One of the greatest benefits of getting up and going into school and/or college or university, is that you follow a structured timetable that helps your body get into routine. As humans, we need routine to help our brains know where and when to focus our attention, as well as when to relax. Therefore, it’s essential you create your own schedule/timetable to ensure you can study efficiently at home.

3. Break the task down into manageable chunks

A big task, such as writing a dissertation, or revising for an extended period, can be demotivating because it seems so big.

Breaking the task down into manageable chunks can therefore help make it seem less daunting.

4. Try different study approaches

Especially when you first start studying, you will not necessarily know what works for you.

It is therefore worth trying different approaches, to see which you find most productive.

It is also worth varying your studying to keep you interested. Some days you may want to look at one subject, and try another on a different day. You may also find it helpful to vary your style of working. You could, for example, try working in different places, and varying whether you work alone or with friends.

5. Exercise regularly

When you’re focused on studying for a major exam, it’s common to overlook exercise.

But, as far as possible, get 20 to 30 minutes of physical activity every day.

This is because regular exercise is vital if you want to study effectively and stay motivated.

Aerobic activity, such as swimming, jogging or walking, sends oxygen, blood and nutrients to your brain.

This helps you to think and concentrate.

Conclusion

The key to getting motivated to study is organising your time and work, and knowing how to use your mind effectively.

Yoga for mental well-being

In our busy day-to-day routine, we often ignore the importance of mental health in our life. Yoga is a way to deal with our stressful schedule and ensure mental as well as physical well-being. Yoga is an ancient Indian practice which builds physical, mental and spiritual strength.

According to WHO’s definition of mental health given in 2014, it does not mean absence of mental illness. Mental health is defined as a state of well-being, when the person can cope up with the normal stress of everyday life. For overall mental well-being, it is extremely important to nurture our mind. Yoga has gained world-wide popularity and studies  have been conducted to establish its relation with mental health. It  has been proven to promote a healthy and peaceful mind.

Impact of Yoga on mental health

Experts call yoga and mental health an underexplored relationship. In the current busy lifestyle, yoga acts as a physical exercise and has psychological benefits which calm the mind.

Stress and anxiety are one of the major causes of mental illness. Chronic stress can cause cardiovascular diseases, high blood pressure, and mental disorders. Yogic postures can affect the functioning of Hypothalamus in a way that it can generate a better response to stress and lower the stress hormones.

According to studies, yoga leads to release of Gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) which uplifts mood and reduces anxiety. Yoga also helps to restore the natural energy of our body and mind which helps to deal with fatigue. It has also contributed to better sleeping patterns among people with insomnia, increasing their time and quality of sleep. .

People with mental illness often prefer going to yoga based therapy which increases self- awareness, concentration, productivity and helps build a positive self-image. It also helps people to build patience and make improvements in behavioural patterns.

Yoga is often used as an add-on treatment for those undergoing some treatment for mental illness. One of the major benefits of yoga is that it includes meditation. Yogic postures associated with meditation are helpful to reduce anxiety and release stress.

  • Pranayama, a posture that focuses on breathing, is one of the famous Yoga asanas used  to calm the mind.
  • Natarajasana, also known as the dancer’s pose, is a mood lifting asana.
  • Vajrasana helps to build focus and calmness.
  • Padmasana, the basic pose of yoga, helps to build spinal strength and a calm mind.
  • Savasana, lying flat on the ground, is one of the easiest asanas which helps to relax our mind and body.

In these tough times of Covid pandemic, looking after our mental health should be a priority.  Amidst the chaos in the world, yoga is a way of life that can help us achieve spiritual, physical and mental well-being.

RCN To Be Dilisted

Ripio credit network commonly known as RCN is a digital currency that aims to build an “open global credit network that connects lenders and borrowers on the Ethereum blockchain to create frictionless, transparent and borderless debt markets.”

Once the coin which enjoyed a market cap of nine million dollars is now facing the misfortune of being delisted from crypto exchanges.
Firstly Binance the giant crypto exchange barred RCN from trading from 16 July 2021.
And now, CoinSwitch Kubar one of India’s exchange latched RCN trade.

What happens when crypto is delisted?

When a digital currency is delisted it simply means that buying and selling of the particular coin will not take place on the platform from a given date.
In such a scenario person is stuck with that currency as he/ she won’t have any alternative except keeping coins in the wallet or selling it before due date.

Digital Economy

The Digital Economy refers to economic transactions that occur on the Internet.
Economic transaction simply means the transfer of goods and services money.

Over time due to the continuous evolution of technology life has become smoother.
The benefits of the digital economy are there for everyone to catch a glimpse of namely-
Increase in online businesses
Higher transparency
Easy availability of services
But it’s only one side of the coin. While the advantages of the digital economy are remarkable, it is also responsible for creating some inequalities in society as well.
Unemployment
Increased cybercrimes
Lack of security
The solution to the issue of inequalities in the digital economy lies in the hands of the establishment and the users of the technology.
The government must form effective strategies in regards to educating the public & handling grievances through strings laws. Plus people should know their responsibilities and avert from taking advantage of the less informed.

KEY TO SUCCESS IN LIFE

What is Success ? 👈

Success is something that makes our life meaningful. It is the highest point in the ladder that one wishes to climb upon. We all would have played the game of snake ladder. In this game, we are bitten by the snake many times especially when we reach easily towards target. The same is the story of success. The ladder for the success is full of challenges and we have to be ready to face and overcome these challenges to be successful in our life.

We need to work hard and value our time to make our dreams come true. Success is only granted to those who deserve it. They are the people who work accordingly to accomplish the goals of their life and make their dreams come true. Failure is a part of success. Despite being depressed with our failure we must try to learn from it. It helps us in knowing about our mistakes. The meaning of success is different for everyone. To someone, it is getting a good position, good wealth, etc. According to me, the real success lies in thing that you love and want to do. Success in that thing will make you happy and satisfied. For example dancing, singing, studies, sports, etc.

Steps For Success👇

  • Decide the Goal – We all must have a goal in our life. Life without aim is of no value. An aim in our life helps us to be focused and think about accomplishing the same.
  • Time Management – It is the most important factor that is required for getting success in life. Time lost can never be brought back. Everything in this world is meant to be done in a definite period of time. Therefore we must realize the importance of time and work accordingly to get rewarded with a happy and successful life.
  • Motivation – Everybody in this world needs an inspiration that helps us in pushing forward to accomplish our goals of life. It is something that instills a spark in us and gives us positive energy to work with dedication.
  • Hard Work – There is no substitute for the hard work in the process of becoming successful. There are people in this world provided with luck or genius minds but hard work is necessary for everyone. It is considered the key to success irrespective of the field.

How is Success Important in Our Life?👀

We all work to achieve something in our lives. The goals can vary but the final destination for everyone is getting successful. It is very important for us to become successful in our lives. It gives us a good name and recognition in our society. Success makes us more confident and happier in life. It also provides us great inner satisfaction as attaining success means getting the thing that we desire and love doing in our life.

It is most important for the survival of human beings. It opens up the doors of different opportunities for us. Success gives us the encouragement to move forward in our life. We can never live our life without encouragement or motivation. Success is something that makes our life meaningful and optimistic. It is something that gives a proper direction to our life. The successful people are an exemplar for other people in the society.

Conclusion💁

It is always said that in order to gain something in our life we have to sacrifice something. Success is also about the same. We need to leave our lazy behavior and luxuries of life far behind to become successful. This can be realized by you once you become successful in your life. And you feel proud of yourself that day.

YOU CAN BUY WEALTH BUT NOT HEALTH..

As we all are aware that, “Health is Wealth”. It is important to take care of our health, because if you lost it then, no one is going to give you your perfect health even if you pay lakhs of rupees. God gives good health to every human, but it is in our hands whether to keep it good or make it worse. Health is not only being physically fit but being mentally healthy. To be physically fit, we need to eat healthy and exercise, and to be mentally health, avoid negative thoughts.

SOME WAYS TO BE PHYSICALLY HEALTY AND FIT:

1.Eat healthy, whatever you eat, eat with love and satisfaction, don’t hate your food.

2.Take foods like fruits, vegetables and, homemade meat dishes instead of Fast foods.

3.Eat fully, make your tummy happy, if you eat half and if you stay half empty, it leads to health issues.

4.Prefer homemade foods, because the homemade is filled with love and tastes good.

5.Eat whatever you like, but have a limit, because anything more is poison though.

6.Excercise daily, drink more water, maintain your physic.

7.Avoid bad habits like Smoking, drinking, taking drugs etc.

SOME WAYS TO BE MENTALLY HEALTHY:

1.Firstly, to be mentally healthy, you need to avoid negative thoughts.

2.You should accept all the situations of life, may be happy or sorrow times.

3.Receive everything with love, even if it hurts you, try to accept it, then your mind feels free.

4.Spend time with your family and beloved ones, instead of always running after earning money.

5.Think positive, Be positive, Do positive, Receive positive and Stay positive.

6.Do not overthink about anything, don’t stress your mind

I want to tell some important things before I end this article.

  • It’s better to buy healthy foods like fruits, veggies etc. instead of buying medicines.
  • It’s better to drink fresh water instead of drinking soft drinks and hard drinks as well.
  • It’s better to have homemade food instead of having harmful food(fast foods).
  • It’s better to think about something useful and worthy instead of overthinking about something unnecessary.
  • It’s better to share your sorrow, instead of feeling depressed.
Finally, stay fit and healthy both physically and mentally..
