The YES Bank Crisis

In March of 2020, news rapidly spread that there was a very high chance of Yes Bank collapsing. This caused widespread panic among the people and soon even the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had to step in. On 5th March 2020, the RBI foisted a 30-day moratorium (temporary prohibition of activity) on the bank and replaced the entire top management to prevent it from collapsing. So, what exactly happened?

Well, when a bank lends money to its borrowers, it does so by charging a certain amount of interest on the loan amount. However, some of it always is in arrears or ends up as bad debts. When a borrower defaults in the payment of the principal or interest amounts, it is said to be in arrears. In finance terms, these loans are referred to as Non-Performing Assets (NPA). These NPAs are precisely what brought Yes Bank down on its knees. For any bank to survive, its deposits need to be more than the amount it lends. When we take a look at the bank’s books of accounts, we can notice what exactly went wrong. At the end of the financial year 2013-14, its loans stood at Rs.55,633 Crores and its deposits totaled to Rs.74,192 Crores. By September 2019, the loans almost quadrupled to about Rs.2,25,000 Crores. The amount in the deposits, however, failed to keep up with the pace and stood at Rs.2,21,000 crores. Also the kinds of people the bank lent money to were not as financially capable of repayment. This led to an increase of NPAs from 2% a year earlier to 19% in the year 2019-20. This surge led Yes Bank to post a loss of a whopping US$2.5 Million in the period from October to December 2020.

The founder of the Bank, Rana Kapoor, had a reputation for being good at sanctioning loans to those who were sure to repay. However, in his greed to increase the loan count, he started treating the Bank’s money as his own. He even gave loans to companies that were reporting repeated losses and manipulated the books to show the NPAs lesser than how much they were. Many of the companies that Yes lent to were caught in a vicious cycle of borrowing more to repay their previous debts. Rana Kapoor was ordered by the RBI to step down from his chair and was arrested for fraud. He was accused of deteriorating the relationship between the Bank and the Central Government. The Finance minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, proposed a plan to reconstruct the management under which the State Bank of India would have a 49% stake of ownership. Prashant Kumar was made the new CEO. However, the help came at the wrong time as the pandemic forced the financial sector to plummet. At the end of the day, the story of Yes Bank and Rana Kapoor teaches us that more does not always mean better. He sought to expand without even considering the risks or the consequences, which led to its ultimate downfall.

White Holes

Black holes are places in the Universe where matter and energy are compacted so densely together that their escape velocity is greater than the speed of light. Fully describing a black hole requires a lot of fancy math, but these are real objects in our Universe. They were predicted by Einstein’s theory of relativity, and actually discovered over the last few decades.

Black holes are created when stars, much more massive than our Sun, die catastrophically in a supernova.

So then what’s a white hole?

White holes are created when astrophysicists mathematically explore the environment around black holes, but pretend there’s no mass within the event horizon. What happens when you have a black hole singularity with no mass?

White holes are completely theoretical mathematical concepts. In fact, if you do black hole mathematics for a living, I’m told, ignoring the mass of the singularity makes your life so much easier.

They’re not things that actually exist. It’s not like astronomers detected an unusual outburst of radiation and then developed hypothetical white hole models to explain them.

Dr. Brian Koberlein says, “If you start with five cupcakes and start giving them away, you eventually run out. At that point you can’t give away any more. In this case you can’t count down past zero. Sure, you can hand out slips of paper with “I O U ONE cupcake.” written on them, but it would be ridiculous to use the existence of negative numbers to claim that “negative cupcakes” exist and can be handed out to people.”

Now if white holes did exist, which they probably don’t, they would behave like reverse black holes – just like the math predicts. Instead of pulling material inward, a white hole would blast material out into space like some kind of white chocolate fountain. So generous, these white holes and their chocolate.

One of the other implications of white hole math, is that they only theoretically exist as long as there isn’t a single speck of matter within the event horizon. As soon as single atom of hydrogen drifted into the region, the whole thing would collapse. Even if white holes were created back at the beginning of the Universe, they would have collapsed long ago, since our Universe is already filled with stray matter.

That said, there are a few physicists out there who think white holes might be more than theoretical. Hal Haggard and Carlo Rovelli of Aix-Marseille University in France are working to explain what happens within black holes using a branch of theoretical physics called loop quantum gravity.

In theory, a black hole singularity would compress down until the smallest possible size predicted by physics. Then it would rebound as a white hole. But because of the severe time dilation effect around a black hole, this event would take billions of years for even the lowest mass ones to finally get around to popping.

If there were microscopic black holes created after the Big Bang, they might get around to decaying and exploding as white holes any day now. Except, according to Stephen Hawking, they would have already evaporated.

“JULIUS CAESAR” biography

“Julius Caesar” was a Roman consul. He was born in Rome on 12 or 13 July 100 BC. His father’s name was Gaius Julius Caesar and mother’s name was Aurelia Cotta. His father was a politician after this sudden death of his father in 85 BC all the responsibilities fell on the 16 year old Julius.

At that time there was a civil war going between this uncle Gaius Marius and Lucius Cornelius Sulla. He was nominated to Peete new high priest and got married to Cornelia, daughter of Lucius Cornelius Cinna, Marius biggest ally. Sulla was victorious in the war and his new target was Ceaser. In a bid to save himself from Sulla, Ceaser decided to go to Asia for military service. He came back only after Sulla death he started his career as a prosecuting advocate and studied philosophy temporally in Rhodes. In 69 BC, he was elected the quaestor by the Assembly of people and later as curule aedile in 65 BC. He was elected as pontifex Maximus in 63 BC. In 59 DC elected senior consel of the Roman Republic by the centuriate assembly. He was in desperate need of the consul money and Pompey influence. Thus the informal union, called the first Triumvirate was formed. His discontentment led to the start of the Gallic Wars, in which remaining parts of France and Germania was annexed to Rome. He then waged wars against many other Nations. Altogether, Ceaser conquered 800 cities, subdued 300 tribes, sold a million slaves and had another 3 million killed in action.

Pompey married Cornelia Metalla, the daughter of Caesar’s greatest enemy Scipio. In 50 BC, Caesar was asked by the Senate and Pompey to resign, he refused and in order to avoid prosecution, he fled to Italy by crossing the Rubicon river and civil war broke out he marched his troop to Rome and conquered it in 49 BC and then spent the next 18 months fighting Pompey. Pompey fled to Egypt after being defeated by Caesar frightened that Caesar wood invade Egypt, the young Pharaoch, Ptolemy VIII, had Pompey killed and presented her head as a gift to caeser. After caeser was declared Dictator he established Police Forces, introduced land reforms, abolished taxes and re-established the tribune system. The Roman calendar was according to the movement of the Moon so Caesar changed it according to the sun’s moment just like the Egyptian. Even the Rome had its senate, the real power was with Caesar and they were scared of Rome being governed by a king Caesar did not wish to become the king but the fear of the republicans let the Senate to conspire against Caesar. On the ideas of March Caesar was assassinated by the senator’s. His second marriage was with Pompeia from 67 BC to 61 BC. He got married for the third time to Calpurnia Pisonis in 59 BC. ” IT IS EASIER TO FIND MEN WHO WILL VOLUNTEER TO DIE, THAN TO FIND THOSE WHO ARE WILLING TO ENDURE PAIN WITH PATIENCE” Said by “JULIUS CAESAR”.

Psychological Disorders Part 3

Introduction

In Psychological Disorders Part 2, Anxiety and Stress-Related Disorder were discussed. They are the most known and common disorders but they are not the only ones. There are many fewer known disorders. This article will discuss Dissociative and Somatic Symptom Disorders.

Dissociative Disorders

Dissociative Amnesia

Such disorders include an interruption to consciousness which includes aspects like memory. Dissociative Amnesia involves a temporary loss of memory which can be caused due to some psychological trauma. This disorder should not be confused with forgetfulness. People with this disorder escape reality in ways that disrupt their daily life. Some symptoms of this are memory loss, being detached from yourself and your emotions, blurred sense of identity, inability to cope with emotions, and other mental health problems like anxiety and depression.

Dissociative Identity Disorder

Dissociative Identity Disorder used to be known as multiple personality disorder. The person suffering from this disorder has multiple personalities and these personalities control the person’s behaviour. This can cause memory loss and delusions. Each personality has its own story, identity, history, traits, hobbies. Symptoms of this disorder are anxiety, delusions, disorientation, depression, substance abuse, suicidal thoughts, and memory loss. Example of this disorder can be seen in the movie “Split”.

Depersonalization Disorder

Depersonalization/Derealization Disorder involves a person feeling disconnected from their own body because of which they feel an involuntary disconnect from their memories, consciousness, and emotions. The person suffering from this feels disconnected from their environment. Although this can be a sign of other conditions like brain diseases, dementia, schizophrenia, seizure disorders. Symptoms include feeling as if you are observing your body from outside, panic, and being robot-like.

Somatic Symptom Disorder

These disorders were earlier known as somatoform disorders. The special thing about these disorders is that they involve a notable physical symptom that does not have a diagnosable physical cause. Somatic Symptom Disorder involves someone having a big focus on physical symptoms like weakness or pain which causes the person excessive distress and problems in normal functioning. The person then has continuous thoughts and feelings related to the physical symptom. The physical symptom may or may not be diagnosable as a medical condition but the person believes they are sick and are surely not faking it.

Illness Anxiety Disorder involves having an excessive fear of serious medical illnesses. A person suffering from this disorder pays extra caution about their health. They are easily alarmed by anything that can be diagnosed as some medical illness, for example, a headache can make them worry about having a brain tumor. Symptoms can include finding no assurance from doctor visits and negative results, repeatedly checking for signs of illness, avoiding people or going outside to not take any risks, and frequently searching the internet for symptoms about possible illnesses.

Conversion Disorder is when a person has blindness, paralysis, or other neurological symptoms that cannot be explained by any medical explanation. This can occur because of a psychological conflict. Symptoms include the inability to speak and numbness.

Factitious Disorder is a disorder wherein a person deceives others by appearing sick or by purposely causing injury or sickness to self. People with this disorder know they are causing the symptoms but they do not understand why. Symptoms can include extensive knowledge of medical diseases, vague and inconsistent symptoms, eagerness to have frequent tests, arguing with doctors, conditions that get worse for no reason, and conditions that do not respond in an expected manner. This disorder is very challenging to identify.

Conclusion

These are rarer disorders than anxiety and depression and so less heard of. It is important to note that only in the case of Factitious disorder are the patients faking the illness. These disorders are usually difficult to diagnose and can only be treated by extensive therapy.

Internships-What is expected vs What we get

Internships are an opportunity for the freshers to get an insight into the corporate world by performing assigned tasks and duties. They provide real world experience to the college students to prepare for their future.

Usually, internships are unpaid. Even then the students apply and work for the companies just to gain experience in a field (since jobs demand experience). However this is becoming a problem now. How ? Read on to understand the issues that both the students and the companies are facing.

Be it big or small, profitable or non-profitable; companies make a call for the interns whenever they need the workers. But the problem is that it is not easy to get an internship. Getting a good job was already a trauma but internships too are going the same way.

Students search for internships that address their concern. Majorly they require a good internship that offer a certificate of completion along with a letter of recommendation(LOR) to them while supporting skill development. Getting a paid internship is a feather in the cap. But it is becoming rare to have all these features in a single offer.

What is the issue about Internships ?

Aspirant’s point of view

  • The offered internships don’t match the requirements and those which match, are not offered to the aspirant.
  • The task or work is manual and doesn’t support individual growth.
  • LOR is not provided after completion
  • No skill development
  • Good internships demand good skills from the candidate- Those willing to learn it don’t get the opportunity
  • Fear of fraudpersonal info gets public through applications and resume
  • Full time work with no incentives gives pressure and tension
  • No direct communication
  • Some also require experience of work.

These are major issues faced by the interns applying for the internships which is why the employment rate is low even when the youth is ready to work. They work without being paid for the internships, with full dedication, just to gain some experience for jobs but the sad part is that the internships have also put forward the requirements of experience in various fields. Now, where would people go to learn something new! Of course they need practical knowledge since the books only cannot guide in how to fix a place for yourself in the world. You definitely need some practical knowledge and experience of the operations in this world.

Employers’ point of view

The companies want those individuals in their organisation who are capable of handling its daily operations, deal with clients, manage funds, etc. For this they seek good interns with proven ability of handling tasks and complete work on time. No firm hire people who don’t know about the corporate world or doesn’t have advanced knowledge since their aim is to succeed, not to teach.

This makes up the gap between the job seekers and givers. The givers are either too expecting or are underestimating the potential of the applicants whereas the seekers are either not interested in the job or they don’t have the required skills.

What is the need of the hour is that there must be a platform where the focus is on skill development without pressurizing the people. The aim should be to make the youth capable of working in the corporate world. Also, the firms should volunteer such programmes where the interns be provided with proper training and incentives while working. This would ultimately increase the worth of the organisation, both economically (through trained individuals) and socially (by working for the welfare of the society and its people). The employment rate and productivity will see a rise.

Only together we can achieve the goals. We all should show responsibility on our part and work for collective welfare. The gaps need to be filled. No one is born perfect but it is the environment that makes us worthy. Let’s create an environment where opportunities are available for everyone and all the resources are tapped. Each of us make a useful resource. What we need is a platform to early access it and put it to work. There is surely a place for everyone in this world!

India Rejects use of Israeli software Pegasus (What is Pegasus?)

Today, the Indian government is facing allegations that they have used Israeli software, Pegasus, on Indian citizens. And this allegation has been leveled on every government of the world except the Government of India.

[Israeli firm’s spyware found on phones worldwide post says]The government is using the Israeli software Pegasus to spying its own citizens.

And this issue has also been raised in Parliament and the government has simply said that we have never misused the software. But strange thing has been seen here that the ruling party is BJP at present. And he has some members of parliament. For example: Subramanian Swamiji who is saying that Pegasus was used to keep a watch on its own Minister Various, Politicians, Influencers by the government.

Here you see that this is his tweet: Strong Ramour that this evening east, the Washington Post will publish a list of all the people who have been spying by Pegasus Software.

Those which are from the ruling party are also demanding that its investigation should be done. And the Congress party is also saying that we need a proper investigation. And we want us to know how Pegasus software has been used by the Government of India.

What is Pegasus?

Pegasus is a very advanced spyware. Spyware is a type of malware, Malware means malicious software. There are many types of malware for example: ransomware is also a type of malware It will hijack the computer and then ask for a ransom to get the computer’s files realized. Spyware is a type of malware, as the name suggests, spyware is used for spying. And Pegasus is developed by Israeli private company NSO Group These people say that their spyware is world in a best, it can hack any person’s phone. For example: WhatsApp, chat, calling, chatting with someone or any other app, any other person can see all the information coming of Pegasus.

And then this question comes tao our mind that how Israel’s NSO Group will sell this software, is there no issue of human rights?

So of course there comes the issue of Human Rights but if we look on the website of NSO Group, it says That we focus on Global Security and Stability These people say that apart from the software we have, Pegasus, these people do a lot of software development .And main target is to catch all these terrorists, criminals and drug trafficking through Pegasus. And if the government thinks that there is a terrorist but there is no evidence against him, then absolutely Pegasus is used here to catch them.

if we see, thousands of lives have been saved through Pegasus. Terrorist attacks have been stopped because of Pegasus. And many criminals have also been caught. So Pegasus has been put to good use so far.If we think, Pegasus is a very powerful tool in itself. Anyone can spying with it.Anyone can open it and see, whom he is talking to, what he is talking about, everyone can know.to

So the allegations are being made on Sarkar that Sarkar is the spying figure of his own people The national security of the country is less here for its personal interest. And these charges apart from the Government of India and Azerbaijan, hungury , Kazakhstan, bahra, saud arbia, rwanda, morocco, mexico Like in the countries too. There have also been allegations against these countries that their government is using Pegasus to keep their government stable in their country.

all these allegations are being levelled together by 17 media organizations. Like: The Guardian, The Washington Post and The Wire from India and many other media whose articles we must have seen. These 17 media organizations gathered and they published a report According to them, Pegasus is being misused in all these countries and they do not have any evidence yet, they are just making allegations. And it was also raised in October 2019 that all Countries is misusing Pegasus. The software which is made for criminals and terrorists is being used by the government for politics. But there is nothing like this to keep your government stable.

What the government said?

So the government has to say that we have not tampered with the privacy of the people. The government says that right to privacy is very important according to the constitution of India. The government says that freedom and speech is a fundamental right. The government has is not spying any innocent person. And the government has rejected all these allegations.

So all these allegations against the government are false.

Music is the shorthand of emotion

Music can raise someone’s mood, get them excited, or make them calm and relaxed. Music also – and this is important – allows us to feel nearly or possibly all emotions that we experience in our lives. …

It is an important part of their lives and fills a need or an urge to create music.

Music is a form of art that uses sound organized in time. Music is also a form of entertainment that puts sounds together in a way that people like, find interesting or dance to.

Most music includes people singing with their voices or playing musical instruments, such as the piano, guitar, drums or violin.

The word music comes from the Greek word (mousike), which means “(art) of the Muses”. In Ancient Greece the Muses included the goddesses of music is known as a musician.

Though more studies are needed to confirm the potential health benefits of music, some studies suggest that listening to music can have the following positive effects on health.

1. Improve mood

2. Reduce stress

3. Lessens anxiety

4. Improves exercise

5. Improves memory

6. Eases pain

7. Provides comfort

8. Improve cognition

9. Helps children with autism spectrum disorder

10. Soothes premature babies.

Twitter vs Instagram. What’s better for business?

Before we get into the details about marketing on Twitter and Instagram, let us learn quickly about some of the key features of both Twitter as well as Instagram.
Twitter was launched in 2006 whereas Instagram was founded in 2010. As of 2020, there are 1.3 billion twitter accounts out of which only 330 million are monthly active users globally whereas there are 1.2 billion Instagram accounts out of which 1 billion are monthly active users globally.

About 293 million Instagram users are aged between 15 and 24 and 338 million users are aged between 25 and 34. Talking about Twitter, 80% of its global population is below 50 years old. Twitter ranks slightly behind Instagram when it comes to users 60+ users.

When it comes to the worldwide gender split, about 51% of Instagram users are female and 49% are male and when we talk about Twitter 62% are male and 38% are female. 85% of India’s Twitter audience is male, ranking the country third highest for male-to-female ratio.

With the help of the above graphs, we come to know that Laos has highest female ratio when it comes to Instagram and for Twitter its Philippines with highest female ratio.

1. USER ENGAGEMENT REACH

One of the commonality between Instagram and Twitter is that maximum of their active users are aged between 18 and 29. And if a business is looking for a young audience, then surely it has to select both Instagram and Twitter.
From the above two graphs, it is quite evident that user traffic is much higher on Instagram than any other platform.
However, it is important to note that maximum Twitter users are inactive and Instagram users are mostly active with over 500 million people using Instagram daily whereas only 330 million Twitter users are active monthly. So if a new business wants to enter the market and wants easy and quick promotion, Instagram is a better option any day.

2. Sales

Instagram has separate business profiles specifically for collaborations and business deals. Email, contact number can be directly attached on profiles whereas same does not happen with Twitter.
Another important characteristic where Instagram leads over Twitter is its “Trackable” feature. Sales and Leads can be tracked through Instagram Advertisements and hence we can see clear Return on Investment.

According to Shopify, an e-commerce platform, average price tag for a sale referred from Instagram is $65 and it is $55 for Facebook and $46 for Twitter.
With Instagram settings, we can link our profile to other social media accounts such as Facebook and Twitter but the same is not possible with Twitter and this can indirectly help in increasing sales.

Instagram being a more visual platform with variety of formats available is doing better than Twitter in driving sales.
In the graph below, it is found that traffic on Instagram is more than Twitter. So it is obvious, Instagram is ahead of Twitter when it comes to generating sales.

It is also important to note that Sales on social media platforms also depend on the country and the business field one is in.
After analysing the below three graphs, we will be able to understand that it is better to avoid using any of these applications for our business if our target audience is not into these fields and countries.

3) Return on Investment

Providing a link on our Instagram bio can fetch a lot of traffic and doing the same on our Tweets would also increase our traffic. Making good investment on Instagram sponsor advertisements and Twitter advertisement also increases our user traffic dramatically as Twitter shows our advertisements on “TRENDS” while Instagram shows our advertisements on stories.
Mostly, influencers prefer Instagram over any other platform since it is easy to handle and even users like Instagram posts as compared to other formats. And at the end all a business wants to do is to increase sales and earn profits. This is possible more on Instagram due to its unique yet diverse formats, high user engagement and efficient promotional techniques, so definitely ROI is bound to be more in Instagram than on Twitter.

Also, as mentioned before, Instagram Business profiles provide each and every detail about insights, engagements, and sales and as a result it gives better information regarding ROI in comparison to Twitter.
Two examples of Sales Tracking, User Enagagement and ROI information are given below.

Conclusion: Both Instagram and Twitter are doing well when it comes to marketing strategy and business. If we talk about situation half a decade ago, Twitter was leading but in 2020, Instagram is unbeatable winner.
Growth of the business also depends on the industry, for example fashion industry will do better on Instagram while News Industry will do better on Twitter.

“SCHOOLS REMOVING MUSIC AS A SUBJECT “, IS IT GOOD ?

Music gives you pleasure that heals your wounds , be it mental , be it physical.

Nearly everyone enjoys music , whether by listening to it , singing , playing instrument. But despite of this universal interest for music , schools are removing music from the list of their subjects that are taught in the schools. Are schools on right path ? Is this decision is in favor of students? NO , they are doing a big mistake ! Schools are not only loosing an enjoyable subject but a subject which enrich students life & help them to focus more on their education . Here are the benefits that music plays in the life of a student.

  1. Musical training helps develop language and reasoning: Students who have early musical training will develop the areas of the brain related to language and reasoning. The left side of the brain is better developed with music, and songs can help imprint information on young minds.
  2. Students learn to improve their work : music brings craftmanship among students, they learn the presentation part of their work
  3. Increased coordination: Students who practice with musical instruments can improve their hand-eye coordination. Just like playing sports, children can develop motor skills when playing music.
  4. Music can be relaxing: Students can fight stress by learning to play music. Soothing music is especially helpful in helping kids relax. A relaxed mind ensures proper work done .
  5. Music teaches discipline : Music teaches an important aspect of life that is discipline , students have to set aside time to learn the instruments that will make them learn discipline
  6. Better self-confidence: With encouragement from teachers and parents, students playing a musical instrument can build pride and confidence. Musical education is also likely to develop better communication for students.

Finally, music is an excellent way to relieve stress.  This is significant for students who may feel overwhelmed by schoolwork and try to balance extracurricular activities. Studies have found that music can reduce burnout and improve mood states. As students enter into the upper grades of the school system and begin considering applying for post-secondary schools, they might feel overwhelmed with the need to keep their grades high. Even young students can experience stress with the increasing amounts of homework school curriculums require. Some students may also have stressful home lives, and music will offer a way to escape from these situations.

Music helps you increase you memory power . Music is good for your memory. I bet you can remember the lyrics of a bunch of songs much better than an article you recently read. In nursing homes, they started using musical therapy in order to let the elderly remember things of their past, which they couldn’t remember without listening to music.

THE WASTE WATER TREATMENT PROCESS

8 Stages of the Waste water Process:

Stage1: Bar Screening

The process of treating and reclaiming water from wastewater (any water that has been used in homes, such as flushing toilets, washing dishes, or bathing, and some water from industrial use and storm sewers) starts with the expectation that after it is treated it will be clean enough to reenter the environment.

The quality of the water is dictated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Clean Water Act, and wastewater facilities operate to specified permits by National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES). According to the EPA, The Clean Water Act (CWA) establishes the basic structure for regulating discharges of pollutants into the waters of the United States and regulating quality standards for surface waters. Under the CWA, EPA sets wastewater standards for industry. The EPA has also developed national water quality criteria recommendations for pollutants in surface waters. EPA’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit program controls discharges.

As an example of expected standards, the Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) of average wastewater effluent is 200 mg/L and the effluent after treatment is expected to be >30 mg/L. It is crucial a wastewater facility meets these expectations or risk stiff penalty.

The physical process of wastewater treatment begins with screening out large items that have found their way into the sewer system, and if not removed, can damage pumps and impede water flow. A bar screen is usually used to remove large items from the influent and ultimately taken to a landfill.

Step 2: Screening

Fine grit that finds its way into the influent needs to be removed to prevent the damage of pumps and equipment downstream (or impact water flow). Too small to be screened out, this grit needs to be removed from the grit chamber. There are several types of grit chambers (horizontal, aerated or vortex) which control the flow of water, allowing the heavier grit to fall to the bottom of the chamber; the water and organic material continue to flow to the next stage in the process. The grit is physically removed from the bottom of the chamber and discarded.

Stage 3: Primary Clarifier

Solids known as organics/sludge sink to the bottom of the tank and are pumped to a sludge digestor or sludge processing area, dried and hauled away. Proper settling rates are a key indicator for how well the clarifier is operating. Adjusting flow rate into the clarifier can help the operator adjust the settling rates and efficiency.

After grit removal, the influent enters large primary clarifiers that separate out between 25% and 50% of the solids in the influent. These large clarifiers (75 feet in diameter, 7½ inches at the edges and 10½ feet in the center as an example) allow for the heavy solids to sink to the bottom and the cleaner influent to flow. The effectiveness of the primary clarification is a matter of appropriate water flow. If the water flow is too fast, the solids don’t have time to sink to the bottom resulting in negative impact on water quality downstream. If the water flow is too slow, it impacts the process up stream.

The solids that fall to the bottom of the clarifier are know as sludge and pumped out regularly to ensure it doesn’t impact the process of separation. The sludge is then discarded after any water is removed and commonly used as fertilizer.

Stage 4: Aeration

Once converted to NO3, the bacteria remove/strip oxygen molecules from the nitrate molecules and the nitrogen (N) is given off as N2↑ (nitrogen gas).

At the heart of the wastewater treatment process is the encouragement and acceleration of the natural process of bacteria, breaking down organic material. This begins in the aeration tank. The primary function of the aeration tank is to pump oxygen into the tank to encourage the breakdown of any organic material (and the growth of the bacteria), as well as ensure there is enough time for the organic material to be broken down. Aeration can be accomplished with pumping and defusing air into the tank or through aggressive agitation that adds air to the water. This process is managed to offer the best conditions for bacterial growth. Oxygen gas [O2] levels below 2 ppm will kill off the bacteria, reducing efficiency of the plant. Dissolved oxygen monitoring at this stage of the plant is critical. Ammonia and nitrate measurements are common to measure how efficient the bacteria are in converting NH3 to N2↑.

A key parameter to measure in wastewater treatment is Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD). BOD is a surrogate indicator for the amount of organic material present and is used to determine the effectiveness of organic material breakdown. There are a number of other tests used to ensure optimal organic material breakdown (and BOD reduction) such as measuring pH, temperature, Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Hydraulic Retention Time (flow rate), Solids Retention Time (amount of time the bacteria is in the aeration chamber) and Mixed Liquor Suspended Solids. Ongoing and accurate monitoring is crucial to ensure the final required effluent BOD.

Stage 5: Secondary Clarifier

As the influent exits the aeration process, it flows into a secondary clarifier where, like the primary clarifier, any very small solids (or fines) sink to the bottom of the tank. These small solids are called activated sludge and consist mostly of active bacteria. Part of this activated sludge is returned to the aeration tank to increase the bacterial concentration, help in propagation, and accelerate the breakdown of organic material. The excess is discarded.

The water that flows from the secondary clarifier has substantially reduced organic material and should be approaching expected effluent specifications.

Stage 6: Chlorination(Disinfection)

With the enhanced concentration of bacteria as part of the aeration stage, there is a need to test the outgoing effluent for bacteria presence or absence and to disinfect the water. This ensures that higher than specified concentrations of bacteria are not released into the environment. Chlorination is the most common and inexpensive type of disinfection but ozone and UV disinfection are also increasing in popularity. If chorine is used, it is important to test for free-chlorine levels to ensure they are acceptable levels before being released into the environment.

Stage 7: Water Analysis and Testing

Testing for proper pH level, ammonia, nitrates, phosphates, dissolved oxygen, and residual chlorine levels to conform to the plant’s NPDES permit are critical to the plant’s performance.
Although testing is continuous throughout the wastewater treatment process to ensure optimal water flow, clarification and aeration, final testing is done to make sure the effluent leaving the plant meets permit specifications. Plants that don`t meet permit discharge levels are subject to fines and possible incarceration of the operator in charge.

Stage 8: Effluent Disposal

After meeting all permit specifications, clean water is reintroduced into the environment.

Is Internship is useful ?

Gaining industry experience has significant benefits whether you are in high school, college or entering into the workforce. Regardless of your current education level or desired career path, an internship can encourage your professional growth.

Why is an internship important?

An internship is important because it can present you with new skills and opportunities that you would not receive otherwise. Interns not only gain technical knowledge within the industry of their choice, but they also learn how to interact with professionals in a workplace setting, and develop essential soft skills like time management, organization, adaptability, problem-solving and teamwork.

virtual internship

A virtual internship is a work experience program where the participant (intern) gains experience while working in a remote professional setting and is not physically present at the job location.

Virtual interns communicate with their employer online through various means including email, Skype, Whatsapp, instant messaging, phone conversations, webinars, project management tools, SMS messaging, etc.

Virtual internships are undertaken by both students and graduates, usually some form of white-collar work, often within fields suitable to remote work such as information technology, media, creative arts, or public relations.

According to career experts, although virtual internships are currently rare, they are growing in popularity due to improving technology and the growth of social media. A rise has been reported in virtual internships — most of which are unpaid — especially from small ventures and start ups seeking additional help. Larger companies are also starting to explore offering these types of internships. They are presently most popular among small to midsize companies and online businesses.

Virtual internships have been criticized for not providing the supervision and guidance that internships are meant to provide. Despite this, virtual or remote internships are a viable option amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, where travel options are limited. They may rival and sometimes exceede what traditional internships offer.

Internet safety

Twenty years ago, kids in school had never even heard of the internet. Now, I’ll bet you can’t find a single person in your school who hasn’t at least heard of it. In fact, many of us use it on a regular basis and even have access to it from our homes ! The ‘net’ in internet really stands for network. Information can be shared , or sent from one computer to another. The internet is a vast resource for all types of information. You may enjoy using it to do research for a school project, downloading your favourite songs or communicating with friends and family. Information is accessed through web pages that companies, organizations and individuals create and post. It’s kind of like a giant bulletin board that the whole world uses! But since anyone can put anything on the internet, you also have to be careful and use your best judgement and a little commonsense. Just because you read something on a piece of paper someone sticks on a bulletin board doesn’t mean it’s good information, or even correct, for that matter. So you have to be sure that whoever posted the information knows what they’re talking about, especially if you’re doing research! But what if you’re just emailing people? You still have to be very careful. If you’ve never met the person that you’re communicating with online, you could be on dangerous ground! You should never give out any personal information to someone you don’t know, not even your name! And just like you can’t believe the information on every website out there, you can’t rely on what strangers you ‘meet’ on the internet tell you either. Just like you could makeup things about yourself to tell someone, someone else could do the same to you

World’s Easiest Language.

There are many languages in the world and it is not possible for a person to learn every language. But the one language that helps everyone to communicate is English. English is a language that is globally used and helps the people all around the world. But it is not an easy task to learn to learn this language. You will need time and efforts to learn this language.

But someone at a time thought about making it more simple. So that everyone can easily learn the language. This helps you to learn the language in a simple way. The language have simplified the grammar and have shortened the words to make them easy to remember and understand.

The language is called PIDGIN. Pidgin means a way of speaking a language that defines the use of simple words only. The language highly includes words from English, Portuguese, and Dutch language.

The language does not have any hard grammar, no long words and no crazy sentences. Instead of using words that my sound confusing, the language has used simpler words to describe things and make it simple to understand and to pronounce. Such as , Instead of using university they refer it as Big School and To Library as Buk House. The language has also made changes in the way to spell the words.

The language also does not have 26 letters as all around the world. They have remover four letters from alphabets. These letters are C,Q, X, and Z.

The language has helped to establish a communication among the 800 tribes of Papua New Guinea. The big number of tribes have big number of languages and it was really hard for the tribes to communicate among themselves and to communicate with others as well. But now with the help of PIDGIN Language the tribes can communicate among themselves and to the outside world as well.

The language also helped the tribes to communicate with each other. With being able to understand each other clearly the tribes have less fights cause they can understand each other very well.

The language is now an official language inthe country of Papua New Guinea alog with Western African Countries and in many places around the world.
