Incompatible food combination

Some delicious combinations are doing your body more harm than good when eaten together. We all know the dangers and health risks of eating junk food yet we still stuff our faces with the ‘wrong things.’ We are all guilty of eating the wrong kind of food because we are too lazy to eat the right stuff. Either a busy day at the office or we are just feeling down and find a reason, an excuse rather to get our hands on that burger we had been craving all week. We all know that our health greatly depends on the food we choose to eat. That is why it has to be not only tasty but also good for our bodies. However, sometimes the wrong combinations of ingredients can undermine all the healthiness you were trying to achieve!

Some food combination can be harmful if you are having a delicate digestive system. Here are a few combinations that should not be eaten together as they may cause more harm than good.

1.Yogurt with fruit. You should avoid it as the bacteria of yogurt will act on the sugar present in fruits and leads to toxins, cold, allergies. Any sour fruit like berries and yoghurt do not make a good combination. A better idea with yogurt is to add some healthy fat in nuts or a dash of cinnamon. A little bit of honey or a few raisins go well too.

2.Water and food. Water along with meals is one of the worst combinations. This is because water tends to dilute stomach acids, which are essential for digesting the food that you eat. This can get difficult for your tummy and make it work more to digest the food.

3.Milk and Banana. Shocking right? According to Ayurveda, eating bananas and milk together can diminish Agni (fire), which is responsible for the digestion and metabolism of food. The digestion of this combo is very hard as it is known to produce toxins in the body.

4.Honey and Ghee. Mixing honey with ghee is a big NO. Honey has the property of heat and ghee has the property of cold, and one should never combine opposite properties in equal amounts.

5. Burger and fries. This may make you wonder because most burger joints give fries along with the burger. But it is not so because this combo is as wrong as it could get. Both fries and burger patty are deep fried food items, which can make your blood sugar levels very low. Low blood sugar levels will make you tired and lethargic.

6.Wine and dessert. Although we know wine and cheese to be a food match made in heaven, wine with dessert does not mix so well.

7.Mint with aerated drinks. Mint with coke can cause excessive bloating and gas, which can make you very uncomfortable.

8.Pizza and coke. Who doesn’t love pizza with a coke? As much as it sounds tempting, this combination is not good for your health. You should avoid drinking a cold drink with a cheesy food as the combination can lead to difficulty in absorption. Pizza is loaded with starch and proteins, which slows down digestion and high amounts of sugar from cola further makes you digestion sluggish.

9.Juice and cereal. If you are thinking that a glass of juice along with your breakfast cereal is going to give you much-needed energy for the day, well, that may not be true. The acids in fruit juices like orange juice hinder the breaking down of carbohydrates by affecting the enzyme activity.

10.Eggs and fried meat. One of the bad food combinations for digestion is eggs and fried meat. Fried meat like bacon along with eggs is a combo that is loaded with protein and your digestive system may take a long time to digest it.

11.Fruits with a meal. The best time to eat fruits is in the mornings, on an empty stomach, with a glass of water, as it helps in detoxifying your system.

12.Milk and melon. Milk and melon must never be paired. Since melons are rapidly digested, they trigger the secretion of stomach acids, which curdle the milk. This causes indigestion and causes many other diseases.

Vaccination is good or bad?

VACCINE IS LIKE A SOLDIER AGAINST VIRUSES.

India was in a critical situation because of the corona virus but now those who are affected by corona virus rating are falling down. The government has taken various steps to control the corona virus but all the steps have failed death rate was increasing because there were many people who are affected by corona virus there were no beds, no doctors, no oxygen, no medicine and no remedies. So many people died then in some places there were no place bury those who died by the affect of corona virus. This situation has changed a little because of lockdown and also all people are afraid that we too be affected by corona virus and die, so we can take vaccination so that at least we can save our lives. In India there are two vaccinations one is made in India that is Covaxin vaccination and another one is Covishield it was made by England and India. Another thing Sputnik vaccine from Russia it is also used in India because there is no enough Vaccination in India. Many people are showing intrest to vaccinate there are some who are not willing to vaccine. If we vaccinate we can protect others and ourselves because we are vaccinated in our body if there is corona virus the possibility of passing over to other person is very less and other thing if we are vaccinated and we are affected by corona virus it will not lead you to death or any serious conditions. Covaxin and Covishield both are good but there will be slight symptoms in our body because the vaccination should work in our body to protect us from the corona virus. There is some time of interval between two vaccines because the World Health Organization recommends there must be an interval of 3 to 4 weeks, but now it is extended beyond one month. Mainly those who are moving out from your house and old age people because they will be easily affected. Government is making many steps and keeping a target to achieve the goal that all the people in our country should be vaccinated. As a first step for their goal they are making awareness in villages that all should vaccinate. We know that in the first wave of corona virus there was huge people were admitted and some were died in America but now there is no such a huge number because they have vaccinated nearly half of the people in their country they are not asking any proof they are vaccinating all so the number is stable. India’s economy is falling down because all are staying in home so no work the prices of each thing we buy from any shop is raising because each and every person has faced many difficulties in this corona virus second wave. There is no way we have to come out of our house and work but safety is very important for all these situation there is only one solution it is none other than vaccination without vaccination we cannot fight against this corona virus there is no medicine for this virus. We have this vaccination, masks, social distancing and washing hand. We are already following these if we vaccine we can lead our life happily and safely.Vaccination is a good thing which is saving our life from corona virus.

COUNTERING THE NEXT WAVE of covid -19

News

• State preparedness to manage the possible third wave of Covid-19 .

• Provides a real time analysis of data – few
suggestions and strategies for effective management
Delhi Administration’s policy responses .

In January 2021 – first wave subsides – the need for hospitalisation of covid-19 patients fell drastically.
 Delhi administration was using less than 20% of its bed capacity.

• In February 2021 – Delhi Government reduced the bed capacity to the level of just above 5,000
• In March 2021 – health system collapsed – increase in the number of covid-19 cases hit by the second wave of pandemic.

In April 2021 – bed occupancy went from 33%
to over 90%
 Government – increased its bed capacity – could not keep pace with the rise in covid
cases .

In May 2021 – utilisation of government hospital beds went rapidly back to 30%
 Many other areas in the country were experiencing a rise in cases.

Inference

• COVID-19 waves require the health infrastructure to be elastic .

• Demand for COVID-19-specific health infrastructure is spatially varied – health
capacity at a fixed location will not be sufficient.

• Conveys the difficulty that several administrations in the country face
 Hard to increase the capacity in response to the kind of surge – in April 2021
 Key health infrastructures don’t exist in all areas in our country

Real time analysis of data .

• 145 districts – accounted for 75% of the cases during the 1st wave – Same accounted
for up to 80% of cases during the 2nd wave.
Permanently at risk Districts – districts that were hit by the 1st wave, affected in the 2nd wave to a greater extent
 Population size, density and mobility make them prone to rapid spread.
 Need reserve capacity and resources to be expanded – prevent any risk associated
with possible 3rd wave

Suggestions

• Mobility framework – capacity to move healthcare facilities from one area to another
 Identify what resources can be moved – based on mobility costs and supply elasticity.

• Policy innovations in three areas
 Personnel management – Inducting trained final year medicine and nursing students – Rehiring of retired medical personnel – use
paramedical workers
 Resources with high mobility costs need to be evenly distributed – ensure equity in access in poorly served areas
 Spatial equity
 Expanding the health infrastructure covering all regions
 Providing accessibility through enhanced regional and area connectivity .

• Leads to sharing of resources within the country – reduces inaccessibility and
inequity.
• Efficiency of resource-sharing increases with the
area of coverage.
 States or districts – benefits of resource sharing is larger – coordinate and build trust
among themselves.

• Greater institutional coordination for a long run is
necessary
 Bodies such as the National Disaster Management Authority and the NITI Aayog could play a vital role.

Organic Farming

Organic farming is an advanced and a practical type of horticulture that gives customers new regular ranch items. Natural cultivating works in syn-chronization with nature instead of against it. This goal is accomplished by utilizing strategies to improve crop yields without hurting the regular habitat just as the individuals who live and work in it. Natural agribusiness offers an exclusive mixture of climate agreeable practices, which require low outside sources of info, in this way adding to expanded food accessibility. Natural cultivating has an extremely sure impact particularly on winged creatures, creepy crawlies, weeds, untamed life, and soil verdure. Regular cultivating is capital escalated, which requires more manu-factured sources of info and energy when contrasted with information and work concentrated natural cultivating. Natural horticulture utilizes energy more capability than customary agri-culture. When contrasted with traditional agribusiness, natural cultivating produces practical food items, liberated from manufactured composts and pesticides. It likewise gives business openings and monetary advantages to neighborhood networks. The meth-ods used in natural cultivating are all the more exorbitant and work serious, however end up being more savvy over the long haul. Since natural agribusiness supplies more green-house gases in the dirt, the ranchers across the globe can address the atmosphere fiasco by changing to natural techniques. Furthermore, natural agribusiness can possibly address food security issues. Enough proof is accessible to demonstrate that natural harvests are a preferable wellspring of supplements over their comparing ordinary structures. Natural frameworks give higher creature invulnerability and expanded infection protection from plants, with 50 % less mycotoxins in yields and a diligent timeframe of realistic usability.
They have higher micronutrient content, and more conjugated fatty acids for better human health, including lower incidences of noncommunicable diseases. Organic agriculture merges modernism, custom, and science to manage the shared surroundings encouraging fair relationship and high quality of life for everyone involved.

VEGANISM

It is no surprise that our youth blindly follows the western culture. They mostly choose their lifestyle according to what is “in” and not according to what is right for them. However, there are certain things that are a blessing and one of them is adopting a Vegan diet. Veganism has been around for a very long time but has caught the eyes of the world only a few years ago.

Veganism is known to be as a supreme form of Vegetarianism. It is lifestyle choice where a person chooses to give up everything that is prepared as a result of animal cruelty and exploitation. Vegans boycott all the products that are tested on animals and/or extracted from animals in any way possible. For example: dairy products like cheese, leather clothing, all kinds of meats, etc. They believe in leading a plant based life.

HISTORY: The vegan society was founded in 1944 but its origin can be traced back 2000 years. Pythagoras, the sixth century Greek mathematician was against animal killing. In 1806, Percy Bysshe Shelley, a romantic poet, was one of the first people who publicly objected to the consumption of eggs and dairy products on moral grounds.

VEGETARIANS v/s VEGANS: These two terms are often interchanged but they differ in principle. Vegetarians do not eat meat but they do consume products like eggs, honey, leather, etc. They do not mind using animal based products but are opposed to animal killing. Vegans, on the other hand are opposed to animal killing, animal testing and using animal based products. They believe that large scale suffering of animals is caused during production of such goods and it is against their aim to stop animal cruelty. Some of the examples of such cruelty are: killing of old male hens because they don’t provide eggs, killing of male calves because they are expensive to raise, killing old cows when they don’t provide enough milk, and the list goes on.

Before adopting a lifestyle, we need to consider both sides of the coin. There are certain pros of being a vegan and some cons too.

PROS:

  • Saving animals from suffering and brutality is a major incentive to pursue this diet.
  • Vegan diet is full of nutrients and fibre.
  • Adopting the plant based lifestyle could help improve you health internally and provide the body with all the nutrients it requires to function properly.
  • This diet can reduce the risk of heart diseases.
  • It helps in keeping the cholesterol levels in check and also promotes weight loss.
  • It keeps your skin glowing and radiant.
  • It not only keeps your heart healthy but also improve kidney function.

CONS:

  • Excessive weight loss can cause health problems.
  • Vegan diet lacks certain essential nutrients like vitamin B-12 under-consumption of which could lead to a variety of health diseases including loss of bone and muscle mass.
  • Non vegetarian foods are a great source of protein and vegan diet might not deliver the adequate amount of protein required by the human body.
  • Many people might feel discomfort following a plant based lifestyle and it might not agree with their health in the long run.
  • Vegan foods are more expensive than regular foods. For example: buying soy milk would cost you a lot more than cow’s milk.

No matter how beneficial something is for you, you must always consider both sides of it. Adopting a vegan lifestyle just for the sake of activism could do irreversible damage to your body. Such decisions must be made considering all the aspects. Becoming a vegan just to follow a trend is not right. While some people might benefit from such diet, many would fail to receive all the nutrients required. Veganism does a lot of good for the environment but you must make choices that are right for you and your body and not the choices that would make you look like an activist while your body silently suffers.

The commercial launch of anti-COVID 2DG drug by Dr. Reddy

Dr Reddy’s Laboratories on Monday announced the commercial launch of anti-Covid drug 2DG, developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO)

It was earlier said on June 1 that the anti-Covid drug is approved for emergency use as an adjunct therapy to the standard of care in the treatment of coronavirus patients in hospital settings.
“Ideally, 2DG should be prescribed as early as possible by doctors for moderate to severe COVID infected patients for a maximum duration of up to 10 days,” it said.

The DRDO further said that uncontrolled diabetes, severe cardiac problem, ARDS, severe hepatic and renal impairment patients have not been studied yet with 2DG, and hence caution should be exercised.

“The 2DG should not be given to pregnant and lactating women and patients below 18 years,” it added.

The first batch of DRDO’s anti-Covid-19 drug was released on May 17 by Union defence minister Rajnath Singh and health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, after the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) permitted the emergency use authorisation of 2-deoxy-D-glucose (2-DG), anti-viral drug as an adjunct therapy for moderate to severe coronavirus.
The 2DG drug comes in powder form in the sachet, which is taken orally by dissolving it in water. It accumulates in the virus-infected cells and prevents virus growth by stopping viral synthesis and energy production. Its selective accumulation in virally infected cells makes this drug unique. The drug reportedly reduces a patient’s average recovery time by two and a half days and oxygen demand by up to 40 per cent, the Union health ministry had said.

Meditation: Positive Psychology

Meditation is the practice of thinking deeply in silence, in order to make the mind calm. Through regular mediation, levels of stress can be reduced as well as managed. Meditation is a relaxation technique like yoga and deep breathing that activates the body’s relaxation response. When meditation is practiced regularly, it leads to decrease in our stress levels in everyday life. Meditation gives a boost in our feelings of happiness and calmness. It increases our ability to stay cool, calm and composed under pressure.

Meditation begins by heating the activities of the brain for some time and going into a state of stillness or silence. In today’s time, when one’s life is affected be immense stress due to pressure emanating from excessive materialism, professional success, social acceptance, etc, meditation comes as a heavenly refuge. A major benefit of effective meditation is a reduction of anxiety and effects of depression.

Thousands of years ago, a wandering Nepalese prince sat under a tree, vowing not to rise until he attained enlightenment. After a long night of deep meditation, Siddhartha Gautama, better known as the Buddha, saw the light and declared that suffering is subjective and can be reduced through self-awareness. This was laid the foundation of meditation as as successful technique for reducing suffering.

Many studies have shown that meditation not only has mental but profound physiological effects on the body. Thus, to achieve peace of mind, meditation is an exercise not to be missed. It should ideally be followed daily and be supported by a healthy lifestyle and a healthy diet. Only 15-30 minutes of his daily can have a magical effect on one’s life

Effective meditation is free from any kind of other distraction. Research has shown that meditation has benefits on mental health, including decrease in depression, increase in positive emotional state and increases in the ability to deal with unavoidable stressful conditions in life. Meditation not only involves relaxation but also the active growth of positive mental states such as affection, kindness, sympathy, tolerance and energy.

The benefits of meditation are many. Meditation also helps in increasing creative levels of mind. While practicing meditation, our heart rate and breathing slows down, blood pressure becomes normal, sweating becomes less and oxygen can be used more efficiently. Moreover, our immune system functions well. In short, meditation is magnificent and effective in temporary stress reduction and long-term health. A clear and peaceful state of mind can be achieved through this practice. Meditation increases positive thinking, attention levels and awareness to reduce stress. Thus, meditation should be suggested as a treatment for the prevention of many stress-related conditions.

Meditation alters the chemistry of the brain and increases positive emotions. Statistics have shown that meditation has improved lifestyles of people suffering from stress-related conditions. People living in a big city suffering from continuous pain, hypertension, anxiety and depression can be trained to do meditation. Positive effects can be seen soon among them.

To conclude, meditation should be recommended to patients suffering from conditions caused by stress. Doctors and scientists are working to observe the effects of meditation practiced by people who are undergoing stressful situations. It should be noted that many prestigious Universities such as Harvard have made their best efforts in carrying out their researches on meditation and without a doubt, the results are positive. Meditation is an important tool to cope up with stress-related situations. Moreover, through meditation, one can turn to the internal peace to calm down the discomforts caused by stressful experiences of life.

LET’S TALK ABOUT PCOS

Any person may suffer from some sort of health issue. Especially, in today’s time where people are living a hectic, stressed, and unbalanced lifestyle. Hormonal disorders have also become common. Some issues cure with time, while some take a lifelong deal. In India, 1 in 5 women suffers from PCOS.

What is PCOS?

PCOS or polycystic ovarian syndrome is a hormonal disorder. The female body produces estrogen, progesterone, and androgen. These hormones are responsible for regulating ovulation. Though androgen is said to be the male hormone, it is also produced by the female body; just the amount is low comparatively. When the body produces higher amounts of androgen than the normal amount (because of increased insulin level), it results in PCOS.

The ovaries produce eggs each month, if the egg gets fertilized it gets itself embedded in the uterus, otherwise, the uterus lining (consisting of blood, tissues, and nutrients forming a cushioning for the embryo to grow) breaks and flow through the vagina. And this is called a period. But when the eggs are interfered with by the higher amounts of androgen, the eggs in place of maturing start to develop cysts. These eggs then instead of releasing, like in a normal period, start to build up cysts on the ovaries. This causes irregular ovulation each month and hence irregular or missed periods.

Problems of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)

  • Usually, PCOS is only thought to be related to difficulty in conceiving. But it has other issues too which are often not talked about as fertility remains the prior concern as infertility is considered something that could create a problem for marriage. However, is it not necessary that female suffering from PCOS is infertile. And the issue of infertility (if there) is treatable (for most of the cases) through proper medication, exercise, and a healthy lifestyle.
  • As the male hormone ‘androgen’ level increases, it results in excessive body hair (as can be seen in males), called hirsutism. However, this symptom is not necessarily shown in every female suffering PCOS.
  • Male pattern hair loss or thinning of hair.
  • Acne outburst
  • Obesity is another issue in PCOS. People tend to get obese with PCOS but it can be controlled through a healthy diet and lifestyle. However, this symptom is not necessarily shown in every female suffering PCOS.
  • As the insulin levels are increased there is a higher risk of developing diabetes, hypertension (high blood pressure), and even heart diseases.
  • Insomnia and sleep apnea (paused breathing for a short period while asleep).

Irregular periods are the most common sign of PCOS. It can be diagnosed by gynecologists through different check-ups like weight, hair growth, acne, darkened skin may even prescribe a pelvic ultrasound and blood tests.

Treatment

PCOS is not curable but treatable. Proper diet, exercise, and a healthy lifestyle can help in manage PCOS. Taking consistent medication as prescribed by the medical experts helps in regulating the menstrual cycle. The doctors often prescribe for birth control pills to control the hormone levels as they are rich in hormones. This regulates the menstrual cycle as well as controls excessive hair growth and acne. The treatment varies from 6 months to 1 year.

Food rich in omega 3 fatty acids, magnesium, zinc, vitamin D, vitamin B12 is important to manage PCOS. Leafy greens are best to be consumed as it provides the body with required nutrients without adding to obesity.

Exercise and yoga are as necessary as diet and medicines. The doctors often suggest practicing certain yoga asanas that help the womb heal.

Following a healthy routine with good food and proper sleep is important. Sleep plays a vital role in helping the body absorb the nutrients in food and medicines better.

It is strictly advised to consult a doctor if any of the above-mentioned symptoms show up.

And never take any medicines without consulting the doctor.

Why should you avoid using perfumes?

Writing this article isn’t easy for me because there was a phase in my life where I was obsessed with perfumes. I would use different scents every day depending on my mood.

But, there were a few times, where I would get a headache or a sneeze when I would come in contact with a strong perfume. I would excuse myself thinking I am sensitive to a few scents.

But, I got to know that a lot of people are allergic to perfumes in general. Some are more severely allergic than others and can even get asthma attacks. Here are some things that I found which made me stop using perfumes:

  • Trade secret: did you know that perfume companies are not required to list their ingredients? Even if they do list the ingredients, it’s only a few out of 3000 chemicals. Fragrance formulation is considered a trade secret that is also protected from the manufacturer.
  • No authority to regulate the formation of perfumes: when I told it is a trade secret I meant there is no state, federal or global authority that regulates the safety of the chemicals used in fragrances.
  • Health problems: inhaling the 3000 chemicals will come at a cost. They cause health problems like asthma, fatigue, headaches, dizziness, coughing, burning of the skin, and many more. The chemicals also mess with our hormones. You might be someone who does not suffer from these but, do you really want to inhale a product with harmful chemicals that cause health issues.
  • Second-hand smoking: using perfumes in the long term can affect our health just as negatively as second-hand smoking does. The toxins used in fragrances are as harmful as that of second-hand smoking.

This article mainly focuses on how perfumes are harmful. But, it’s the entire fragrance industry that is harmful. We buy scented products on a daily basis. Our shampoos, body washes, hair sprays, detergents all have fragrance added to it. Even products for female hygiene sometimes contain fragrance. We don’t know the number of chemicals the word “fragrance” holds in  products. So, it is best to avoid scented products in general.

If you are devastated knowing how bad fragrance is. There are some alternatives you can use:

  • Using essence oils: these oils are extracted from plants and are completely natural. You can add them to your products or use them separately in the form of a roll-on. But, make sure to get 100% pure essence oils.
  • DIY: you can DIY soaps and perfumes by using natural homemade products that won’t harm your body. You can easily get these ingredients in your nearby store. You can also DIY your essence oils.
  • Fragrance-free products: Buying products that are free of fragrance or chemicals are a great alternative.
  • Non-toxic perfumes: Some brands make sustainable or eco-friendly perfumes so you can try using them. These perfumes are made of essential oils or organic ingredients. But, don’t forget to make sure they only natural ingredients.

These alternatives may seem like a lot of work. But it is way better than exposing yourself to chemicals and toxins daily. The chemicals used by the fragrance industry not just harm us but are also bad for the environment.

Work-life balance in the present scenario

It is evident that like all things, advancement in technology also has its pros and cons. With time and technological advancements, employees all around the world become easily accessible even after work hours. Due to this, it has become very difficult for employees as well as their organisations to differentiate between work and life outside work, especially as the ‘work from home’ concept gains popularity due to the pandemic.

For some employees work begins even before they reach their workplace. They do not even get the opportunity to start the day they want to. Checking messages and making calls first thing in the morning can be very stressful. Some do not get to spend enough time with their children and family, due to the exhausiting demands of their jobs. For some, vacation isn’t really time off.

Work to live, not live to work

It is important for both the parties, the employees and their organisations to understand the ‘work to live, not live to work’ ideology. As an individual, the employee must not let their work define them. There are various other aspects of life that are equally important. It is crucial to maintain a balance and not overlook the other aspects even if work provides them with recognition, power, status or money.

Otherwise, one day, if they were to lose their jobs due to unforeseeable circumstances (the pandemic for example) or even retire, they wouldn’t be left with anything substantial like human connections, hobbies or personal interests. To conclude, an individual shouldn’t be dependant on their jobs to the extent that they feel lost if they were to lose it, no matter how passionate they are about their work. Balance is very important.

Nowadays, it is very easy to get lost in the race of establishing oneself and earning more. Due to this, one never realises that they reached their initial goal years ago. It is human nature to always want more. However, it is important to be grounded and introspect from time to time so it doesn’t become a never-ending process.

As an organisation, it is equally important to respect their employees’ boundaries and preach and implement a healthy work-life balance. Although technology makes it very easy to reach people, it is important to use it professionally and set some boundaries. This will also benefit the organisation in the long run as employees who are not overburdened and overwhelmed with work and have a good work-life balance with frequent days off or vacations in the year, tend to be more creative and energetic and more importantly, feel cared for.

Therefore, it will not only increase the performance and productivity of the employees of the organisation but also help it retain its employees.

It is extremely important for an employee to be well-rested, have a good social life outside work to give their 100% at work. Studies show that overwhelmed and overworked employees are less productive and creative. Fatigue might result in low morale and zeal and takes a toll on the mental and physical health of the employees of the organisation which would lead to high employee turnover rates.

An organisation should promote healthy work life balance and days off for their employees so the employees feel like an integral and valuable part/asset of the organisation. IVF or In Vitro Fertilization is one of the famous fertility treatment where eggs from a woman’s ovaries are is retrieved and fertilized in vitro that is in laboratories with the sperm to produce embryo. This embryo can be stored by freezing or can be transferred to woman’s uterus. This technique became a boon to couples who were facing infertilely or pregnancy related issues.

SOME OF THE INFERTILITY ISSUES:
  • Chances of fertility is reduced in woman over 40 years of age.
  • There may be damages in the fallopian tube of the female which may be causing infertility.
  • Reduction in the function of the ovaries due to various reasons.
  • Endometriosis– Where the tissue that normally grows inside the uterus, lining it, will grow outside it.
  • Uterine fibroids – Non cancerous growths in the uterus
  • In males, low sperm count
  • Abnormalities in sperm shape
WHAT ARE THE PROCEDURES BEFORE IVF

Before IVF women undergoes ovarian reserve testing which involves tests for the level of follicle stimulating hormone in blood. Examination of the uterus usually by doing ultrasound to know the health of the uterus. Men will have sperm testing which is done by taking semen sample and analyzing for the sperm size, number and shape. If the sperms are weak or damaged, intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is performed where sperm is directly injected to the egg by the technician. Otherwise sperms are left to fertilize the egg in incubation.

EMBRYO
HOW IVF IS PERFORMED
  1. Stimulation: IVF requires multiple eggs to make sure that viable embryos are produced. A woman produces only one egg during one menstrual cycle. So drugs are injected into female body to stimulate the production of multiple eggs. The doctor will perform multiple blood tests to monitor the production of eggs and to decide when to retrieve them.
  2. Egg retrieval: It is a surgical process. Doctor uses an ultrasound wand to direct a needle into the ovaries through vagina to an egg containing follicle. This needle takes out the eggs through suction.
  3. Insemination: Semen sample is taken by the male partner. Technician will mix the sperm with the eggs in a petri dish. If it did not work they may go for ICSI.
  4. Transfer: Normally after 3-5 days after insemination, when embryos become big enough, they are implanted into the uterus. A catheter is introduced into vagina past the cervix into uterus. Embryo is released. Then embryo implants itself to the uterine wall. A blood test will determine if the female is pregnant or not.

POSSIBLE COMPLICATIONS

SOME OF THE MYTHS ABOUT IVF

  • IVF can be done at any age: This is not true. As the age of women increases she may not be able to produce many eggs and that time IVF can not be done.
  • Fertility drugs cause cancer: The drugs used to stimulate egg production are safe. No studies have shown increased risk of cancer.
  • IVF babies have risk of birth defects and malformations: Not true. Even though there is slight increase in the malformation as compared to normal births, but the risk remains low as studies say.
  • IVF is dangerous: IVF is not dangerous. Only 1-2% patients become unwell.
  • IVF is for rich people: This is little bit costly but less expensive compared to other surgical treatments.
LEGAL ASPECT OF IVF

IVF is legal in India. But there is no specific law regarding the aspect. But IVF has gained public attention and needs a good law to monitor.

Effects Of Video Games On Teenagers

The world has changed and evolved rapidly in the past few years. The invention of computer and modern internet has changed the fundamental needs of most teenagers. Video games on consoles, computers and smartphones have revolutionized the world and the concept of virtual reality. Many teenagers find it palying video games interesting especially violent video games.  This is due to how entertaining and thrilling they are to them as teenagers. However, playing video in most cases has some negative effects to the player. Violent video games often make an individual’s brain more responsive to violence. Unknowingly, such type of video games leads to aggressive increase in behavior and as time goes on, the brain doesn’t perceive that aggression to be anything abnormal. Despite the numerous positive effects such as, quick-decision making, multitasking, teamwork…etc., “there are two sides to every coin,”. While all the listed above are good effects of video games, on the other side, video games have their own negative short comings which affect physical health, psychological health, and overall performance of teenagers. This paper will discuss negative ways video games affect the lives of teenagers.
Addiction to video games hinders the physical health of a teenager. Excessive sitting while playing games with minimal movement may possess physical health problems such as obesity, back pains, insomnia, and drowsiness. As already mentioned, video gaming is an addictive practice which a person tends to develop a liking for this attitude and can go on-and-on with it playing for hours. It is obvious that illness and disease caused by ceaseless gaming are hard to cure. Therefore, trying not to get into such activities is the first step to prevent these types of problems to the physical health; and possible the most advisable thing to do. Most teenagers who play violent video like tend not to have interest in stuff he/she has been preoccupied with. This is because, the often teenagers play the video games, there is a higher interaction with the video gaming interface, and therefore tends to take control of the teenagers thought process. According to a research conducted by Dr. C. Shawn Green of the University of Wisconsin, he mentioned that, “video games can change your brain more negatively. (needs Citation)” this is because, most video games are designed to make you the protagonist and, in most cases, commit crime and other violent activities to achieve your goals. This in the long run might have negative effects by making your brain to think more negatively.
One common health issues that is faced by most individuals, specifically teenagers addicted to playing violent video games is obesity. Addicted gamers usually encounter this problem because, they are prone to sit in one place for a longer period, and as a result their body practically misses out on any kind of physical activity like exercise. For example, back in home in Ghana, my cousin used to be teased with different names due to the amount of weight he had gained from sitting still almost all day due to his attachment to video games. This was mainly because he was always at his room playing addictive games such as call of duty, grand theft auto and many more whiles eating at the same time. This became his habit, and by the time his parents realized, he was obese and violent as well. This situation led to him been stigmatized by his friends. Even in school, no one wanted to play with him because he had gained a lot weight and would often complain of back pains immediately they involve themselves in any activity. Being overweight may increase the risk of developing other ailment in a long run, such as high levels of cholesterol, diabetes, hypertension and so on. Playing video games for long hours could also prevent teenager to have the maximum sleep they need which results in the development of insomnia; Which further results in drowsiness and hypoactive immune system. Again, back pains are also commonly experienced by gaming addicts, since they sit in position for long hours. Even though they don’t pay attention to this, it might have an in-depth implication as the thirst for gaming progresses.

There are psychological health issues with regards to playing video games for incredibly long hours which prone to negatively affect the social behavior of the teenager as well. Excessive gaming can develop certain traits which may have adversely effects on an individual’s life development. According o a research conducted by Douglas Gentile released by the Iowa State University utters that, “teenagers are most inclined to video games by being indoors, which leads to a bad habit of socialization.” (needs Citation) Now social isolation can be an immediate consequence of frequent and ceaseless gaming. Teenagers tend to spend lesser time with their friends and family since they obviously want to get back home or game centers as fast as possible and continue playing. Prior to this, most gaming teenagers become detached from others, and so in the long- run lack abilities of social communication and develop fear of human company (anthropophobia). For example, I met a friend last semester in one of my math classes. This guy would be sitting at the back-playing game all by himself, whiles other people were making discussions on previous topics. Days after, I approached him, and he seems very shy talking to me and spoke very slowly due to no connection he could make from the conversation. I observed that he was a bit nervous. So, I told him not to be nervous, then he replied saying, he’s not used to talking to people apart from his parents. Even he barely talks to people younger sister, because he is always busy playing video games alone. Now this clearly confirms how video games can influence a person’s life.

Uncontrolled addiction to video games deduces a teenager’s performance academically. Normally this happens when teenagers always think and dreams about games he has playing thus tends to lack of interest in studies and other related activities. According to an article written by the Naskar in the industrial psychiatry Journal, the article mentions how an 18- year old boy had excessive use of video game for the last 2 years which led him to losing interest in studies as well as getting low academic grades.”(needs Citation) Academic performance can be affected by inverse balance to video game addiction. This literally signifies that the more time one spends in playing, the lesser the person occupies his/her self with studies. Obviously, this shows negatively in the end of semester school report card, and as a result makes the child academically incompetent.
Teenagers find it interesting playing video games, most especially violent games. Although video games are fun, and has positive effects, however video game impact negatively on teenagers as well. Resulting to the effect on physical health, psychological health, and overall performance in terms of academics. Therefore, in order to reduce such negative chances on teenagers, parents and guardians are to check on their children assign rule and regulations to control this kid form getting addicted to video games. This rule can include time and hours for homework, video games and family get-together. Ensuring these measures will help improve the lives of teenagers for a better future.

We cannot and will not ban the creation of violent video games. But we can prevent the distribution of these disturbing games to children, where their effects can be negative .

Pollution post Covid

Plastic items have played noteworthy parts in securing individuals amid the COVID-19 widespread. The far reaching utilize of individual defensive adapt made a gigantic disturbance within the supply chain and squander transfer framework. This paper endeavors to evaluate the natural impressions of the worldwide plastic squanders created amid COVID-19 and analyze the potential impacts related with plastic contamination. The sum of plastic squanders created around the world since the flare-up is evaluated at 1.6 million tonnes/day.

We assess that around 3.4 billion single-use facemasks/face shields are disposed of every day as a result of COVID-19 widespread, universally. Our comprehensive information investigation does demonstrate that COVID-19 will invert the energy of years-long worldwide fight to diminish plastic squander contamination.
