Loneliness is an emotion, mostly triggered by a sad memory. What is Deliberate Practice?

Deliberate practice refers to a special type of practice that is purposeful and systematic. While regular practice might include mindless repetitions, deliberate practice requires focused attention and is conducted with the specific goal of improving performance.

The greatest challenge of deliberate practice is to remain focused. In the beginning, showing up and putting in your reps is the most important thing. But after a while we begin to carelessly overlook small errors and miss daily opportunities for improvement.

This is because the natural tendency of the human brain is to transform repeated behaviors into automatic habits. For example, when you first learned to tie your shoes you had to think carefully about each step of the process. Today, after many repetitions, your brain can perform this sequence automatically. The more we repeat a task the more mindless it becomes.

Mindless activity is the enemy of deliberate practice. The danger of practicing the same thing again and again is that progress becomes assumed. Too often, we assume we are getting better simply because we are gaining experience. In reality, we are merely reinforcing our current habits—not improving them.

Claiming that improvement requires attention and effort sounds logical enough. But what does deliberate practice actually look like in the real world

Deliberate practice always follows the same pattern: break the overall process down into parts, identify your weaknesses, test new strategies for each section, and then integrate your learning into the overall process.

Consider the following example:

Basketball: Consider the following example from Aubrey Daniels, “Player A shoots 200 practice shots, Player B shoots 50. The Player B retrieves his own shots, dribbles leisurely and takes several breaks to talk to friends. Player A has a colleague who retrieves the ball after each attempt. The colleague keeps a record of shots made. If the shot is missed the colleague records whether the miss was short, long, left or right and the shooter reviews the results after every 10 minutes of practice. To characterize their hour of practice as equal would hardly be accurate. Assuming this is typical of their practice routine and they are equally skilled at the start, which would you predict would be the better shooter after only 100 hours of practice?

The Unsung Hero of Deliberate Practice

Perhaps the greatest difference between deliberate practice and simple repetition is this: feedback. Anyone who has mastered the art of deliberate practice has developed methods for receiving continual feedback on their performance.

The Promise of Deliberate Practice

Humans have a remarkable capacity to improve their performance in nearly any area of life if they train in the correct way. This is easier said than done.

Deliberate practice is not a comfortable activity. It requires sustained effort and concentration. The people who master the art of deliberate practice are committed to being lifelong learners—always exploring and experimenting and refining.

Deliberate practice is not a magic pill, but if you can manage to maintain your focus and commitment, then the promise of deliberate practice is quite alluring: to get the most out of what you’ve got.

A thing to remember always is that if you don’t climb the cliff you won’t ever be able to see the view from top up there all you can see would be a view from the ground and the key to climb that tree is only through practise, the longer you persist it the more you would grow in terms of success.

‘WILL’ under Indian Law

Meaning:

A Will is a solemn document by which a dead man entrusts to the living to the carrying out of his wishes. Section 2(h) of Indian Succession Act, 1925 provides that Will means the legal declaration of the intention of a person with respect to his property, which he desires to take effect after his death Will has been defined in Corpus Juris Secundum as A ‘Will’ is the legal declaration of a man’s intention, which he wills to be performed after his death, or an instrument by which a person makes a disposition of his property to take effect after his death.

Essential Features of a Will

A Will can be made at any time in the life of a person. A Will can be changed a number of times and there are no legal restrictions as to the number of times it can be changed. It can be withdrawn at anytime during the lifetime of the person making the Will. A Will has to be attested by two or more witnesses, each of who should have seen the testator signing the Will.
The essential features are:

1.     Legal declaration: The documents purporting to be a Will or a testament must be legal, i.e. in conformity with the law and must be executed by a person legally competent to make it. Further the declaration of intention must be with respect to the testator’s property It is a legal document, which has a binding force upon the family.

2. Disposition of property: In a Will, the testator bequeaths or leaves his property to the person or people he chooses to leave his assets/belongings. A Hindu person by way of his Will can bequeath all his property. However, a member of an undivided family cannot bequeath his coparcenery interest in the family property

3. Takes effect after death: The Will is enforceable only after the death of the testator

Under section 18 of the Registration Act the registration of a Will is not compulsory. Also, the SC in Narain Singh v. Kamla Devi has held that mere non-registration of the Will an inference cannot be drawn against the genuines of the Will. However it is advisable to register it as it provides strong legal evidence about the validity of the Will. Once a Will is registered, it is placed in the safe custody of the Registrar and therefore cannot be tampered with, destroyed, mutilated or stolen. It is to be released only to the testator himself or, after his death, to an authorized person who produces the Death Certificate

Since a testamentary disposition always speaks from the grave of the testator, the required standard of proof is very high. The initial burden of proof is always on the person who propounds the Will.

Kinds of Wills

Ø Conditional Wills: A Will maybe made to take effect on happening of a condition. In Rajeshwar v. Sukhdeo the operation of the Will was postponed till after the death of the testator’s wife. However if it is ambiguous whether the testator intended to make a Will conditional, the language of the documents as well as the circumstances are to be taken into consideration.

Ø Joint Wills: Two or more persons can make a joint Will. If the joint Will is joint and is intended to take effect after the death of both, it will not be admitted to probate during the life time of either and are revocable at any time by either during the joint lives or after the death of the survivor.

Ø Mutual Wills: Two or more persons may agree to make mutual Wills i.e. to confer on each other reciprocal benefits. In mutual Wills the testators confer benefit on each other but if the legatees and testators are distinct, it is not a mutual Will. Mutual Wills are also known as reciprocal Wills and its revocation is possible during the lifetime of either testator. But if a testator has obtained benefit then the claim against his property will lie. Where joint Will is a single document containing the Wills of two persons, mutual Wills are separate Wills of two persons.

Ø Privileged Wills: Privileged Wills are a special category of Wills and other general Wills are known as unprivileged Wills. S.65 of ISA provides that a Will made by a soldier or a airman or a mariner, when he is in actual service and is engaged in actual warfare, would be a privileged Will. S.66 provides for the mode of making and rules for executing privileged Wills. Ss. 65 and 66 are special provisions applicable to privileged Wills whereas other sections relating to Wills are general provisions which will be supplementary to Sections 65 and 66 in case of privileged Wills.

Who Can Make A Will
S.59 of Indian Succession Act provides that every person who is of sound mind and is not a minor can make a Will.

Execution of a Will

On the death of the testator, an executor of the Will (executor is the legal representative for all purposes of a deceased person and all the property of a testator vests in him. Whereas a trustee becomes a legal owner of the trust and his office and the property are blended together) or an heir of the deceased testator can apply for probate. The court will ask the other heirs of the deceased if they have any objections to the Will. If there are no objections, the court grants probate. A probate is a copy of a Will, certified by the court. A probate is to be treated as conclusive evidence of the genuineness of a Will. It is only after this that the Will comes into effect.

Signature of The Testator

S.63(a) of ISA provides that the testator shall sign or affix his mark. If the testator is unable to write his signature then he may execute the Will by a mark and by doing so his hand maybe guided by another person. In another words a thumb impression has been held as valid.

Attestation of Will:Attesting means signing a document for the purpose of testifying the signature of the executants. Therefore an attesting witness signing before the executants has put his mark on the Will, cannot be said to be a valid attestation. It is necessary that both the witnesses must sign in the presence of the testator but it is not necessary that the testator have to sign in their presence. Further it is not necessary that both the witnesses have to sign at the same time. It is also not necessary that the attesting witnesses should know the contents of the Will.

How To Be Happy

Happiness is word full of joy and broad smiles. It is a never-ending trail of hunt for which everyone keep on searching throughout. But what happiness truly is? Is it having luxurious cars around you? Or is it having a feet long pool? Is it having your favourite ice cream on a bad day? Or is it playing football in the rain?

All of it must have been recognised by you as happiness but in reality, these are just a way to your happiness. Pathways that lead you to happiness.
Happiness is a state of mind. A pause in the hustling time when you feel, feel alive. The sense of accomplishment of anything that calm your soul and maintain your peace is happiness. When our mind is relaxed and at peace, everything seems happier but if we are troubled, even the finest have flaws.
Most of the people miss to understand the real meaning of happiness. Ofcourse, the way they see it, the things that make them happy are indeed what happiness is but all these are the pathways that leads them to the real meaning of happiness. The truth of happiness is the cause of them being happy in the definition of their happiness.
Happiness really doesn’t come free of cost. You have to live it and feel it. People need to understand that

Happiness is a choice. Once, if you choose to be happy, there is nobody who can stop you from being that.

Being happy has a direct connection with your mind. If you seek happiness with your senses, for sure you will find it. Some of the ways to be happy are :

Acceptance

Mark a note about it for life that
Acceptance is the key to a smooth, happy and peaceful life.
When we accept things as the way they are, we feel satisfied and when a person is satisfied, they feel happy and grateful for the way everything is/was. Accepting things and being satisfied lead us to being positive about life, and thus thankful for same. Eventually, this sense of acceptance will make you feel stronger and thus happier. You will let go things and accept some and will improve or develop skills and abilities, stepping forward to growth.

Generosity

“Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously”     The holy Bible marks the purpose and forecoming of being generous in life. Being kind and humble to people make a person feel better and accomplished about themselves. To be able to serve the needy and helping somebody in their hard time is indeed one of the things that make people happy. When we give, we feel good and it comes back to us in unexpected ways. Always be humble to people, seeing the others smiling at you will make you feel better and happy.

Create your own Happiness.

The best way to be happy is by creating your happiness on your own. Choosing to be happy. Choosing to have a smile on you always, not just for showing but because you genuinely are smiling from inside. Do whatever makes you smile. Go out, feel things, be thankful. Having a sense of thankfulness and gratitude is a way to ace happiness and peace. The more gratitude you have, the happier you are. Be positive about everything and be realistic. Do whatever you feel like but ofcourse not without thinking. Smile more, but not the fake one. Spend time in the real world not the social one. Say goodbyes to the toxicity and negativity from your lives. And when you are awa from all of this dust, do whatever you feel like and want to. Feel free to feel anything. Feel free to hear the birds chirping, to dance yourself off and love yourself. When you love everything about you and everything around you, you feel better.

And you will be the happiest the moment you chose to live not to just exist. When you accept and move forward to brighter days with confidence and optimism in your veins, happiness itself will come and knock your door. Just remember, it will always be you who can either multiply or divide the happiness coming your way. Smile! I am already thankful for those which read it till yet, Thankyou and please smile? You’re so freaking precious when you smile!

HOW TO KEEP YOURSELF HAPPY AND FIT IN THIS LOCKDOWN?

As many of us are being told to hunker down in our residences and houses, and limit trips outside and social contact, matters are feeling pretty “real” at this point. Aside from the overall worry, people might also have about their bodily fitness as they digest the information from around the sector and here at home.

Here are some of the mental health practices to make sure to hold doing—or start doing, for a number of us—during the lockdown period.

Have a routine

We realize how vital habitual is, especially for children, under regular conditions. And when schools are closed and lots of humans are running from home or informed to live at domestic. But it’s simply a whole lot higher for anybody’s mental fitness to strive to maintain a routine going, as tons as possible.

Start at-domestic exercise recurring

Working out at home in those instances is glaringly a desirable way to live healthy and kill indoor time. There are plenty of options, from the 21st-century ones to the old fashioned ones. Many online workout assets are offering loose get right of entry to or longer free trial periods at some point of this time, which is probably worth searching into.

Get out of doors—in nature—if you could

This is tons easier in the united states of America or suburbs, but if you’re inside the city and it’s feasible, shimmy beyond your constructing neighbors and go for a walk within the park.

study

And there are some superb motives to do so. Lots of new studies reveals that spending time in nature is a boon to both intellectual and bodily fitness. For instance, multiple studies have determined that time in inexperienced and blue areas is related to reduced anxiety and melancholy, and the connection may be a causal one.

But what’s captivating is that it doesn’t seem to need to do with simply the more pastime, the sunshine, or the air quality (even though these sincerely play a role). Forest bathing may in reality help the immune system: One mechanism is a concept to be through the chemical substances that trees release, phytoncides—some research has discovered that folks who spent more time in nature had a greater hobby of immune cells called natural killer cells.

Decorate your home

Working on your house if you have time can be a precise manner to feel efficient and in control. “Take the possibility of the extra time by using decluttering, cleansing, or organizing your home,” says Serani, referencing the book Trauma-Informed Care. “Studies say the predictability of cleaning not most effective gives an experience of control within the face of uncertainty, but also gives your thoughts frame and soul a respite from traumatic stress.”

Meditate, or just breathe?

Meditation has lots of studies at the back of it, as most people with the aid of now know—it’s been shown to reduce signs of depression and anxiety, and even grow the extent of positive areas of the brain.

But if meditation isn’t for you, just breathing slowly might be. Controlled breathing has been used for millennia to calm the thoughts—and a look at some years in the past showed the mechanism that would provide an explanation for it.

Maintain community and social connection

As mentioned, we’re fundamentally social creatures, and at some point of crises, it’s herbal to want to gather. Social connectivity is the possibly the finest determinant of health there is, as this landmark 80-year-lengthy examine from Harvard reported, and one in every of our most simple mental needs.

Be of provider, from a distance

Being of provider is one of the quality matters we will do for society—and on a more egocentric note, for ourselves. Studies have repeatedly found that serving others, even thru small acts of kindness, has strong and on the spot intellectual fitness benefits. And feeling a experience of purpose has additionally been proven to help humans get over negative events and build resilience.

Practice gratitude

This isn’t always the easiest aspect to do in these instances, mainly if you’ve felt the more brutal results of the pandemic, like activity or enterprise loss, or illness. But practicing gratitude for the things we do have has been shown over and over to be hugely useful to intellectual health.

.

Let yourself off the hook

This might be the most vital factor to keep in thoughts—don’t beat yourself up when things aren’t going perfectly on your household. On the pinnacle of the whole thing else, being disillusioned with yourself is definitely counterproductive. If the children watch too much

THE MENTAL HEALTHCARE ACT,2017

Mental health is as much as required for the wellbeing of people and for the betterment of nation as the physical health is. Now a day’s mental health is being talked about a lot! Do you know Law and mental illness go hand by hand? Unlike, any other field of medical science. Because the rights of PMI (person with mental illness) must not be neglected and mental illness being one of the leading causes of disability, must be curtailed. World health organisation has also taken effective measures to help people coping with mental illness. Mental health not only affects the health of the individual but leads to social problems like unemployment, broken families, poverty, drug and alcohol addiction, suicide and related crimes. It also hinders the productivity of the people. Chronic illnesses like diabetes, cancer, heart diseases, thyroid etc are linked with mental illness. Hence noticing the severity of the issue, government has taken several initiatives.

The mental health care act 2017 was passed on 7 April 2017 and came into force on 7 July 2018, to provide mental health care and services for persons with mental illness and to protect, promote and fulfil the rights of such persons during delivery of mental healthcare and services. The act repeals the Mental Health care act, 1887. One of the main objectives of this act was to comply with the Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities, 2007. The United Nations Convention for Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), which makes a paradigm shift from considering mental illness a social welfare concern to a human rights issue, requires the laws of the country to align with the convention to which India is a signatory. The new act was enacted as the existing act does not precisely protect the rights of mentally ill people.

NEED OF THE ACT: –

According to a study conducted by WHO for National Care of Medical Health (NCMH), at least 6.5% of the Indian population suffers from some serious form of mental illness. Though there are effective measures and treatments available, there is an extreme shortage of mental health workers like psychologists, psychiatrists, and doctors and mental health care centers. The average suicide rate in India is 10.9 for every Lakh people. India, hence undoubtedly declared the most depressed country in the world. Mental health is considered different from general health as in certain situations mentally ill people may not be in a position to make decisions by themselves. Mentally ill people are considered as a danger to society as well. Those who suffer rarely get access to medical help as mental illness is still treated as social stigma. After the infamous Erwadi fire incident of 2001, when 28 inmates of a faith-based mental asylum died in the fire, the need to have an act which will recognize and widen the rights of mentally sick people and to provide better care to them, was felt more than ever.

There is a dynamic relationship between the concept of mental illness, the treatment of mentally ill and the law.  Unlike any other field of medical science, psychiatry and law are co related. You have not heard about health care act related to any other illness but mental health care act is required to protect civil, political, social, and economic rights of the mentally ill individual, including right to access to education, employment, housing and social security.

The mental healthcare act is a crucial step taken by the government. The act ensures that all the people suffering from mental illness must have a right to live with dignity and must not be treated badly by the society and must not be discriminated or harassed. The act not only focuses upon treatment, but also focuses upon the reintegration of mentally ill people back to the society. After so many failed legislations, it can be said that, this act serves the purpose. With the establishment of several mental health care centres and availability of mental health care practitioners, we are awaiting to see the consequences.

IMPORTANT FEATURES OF THE ACT:-

  1. Advanced directive – A major of sound mind can write an Advance directive (AD) as specified by mental health authority regarding his intention for the way he/she wishes to be taken care of by a particular person nominated representative (NR) in case he/she suffers mental illness later in life
  2. Nominated representative – There is a provision in this act for nominated representative by a mentally ill person. Any person can nominate a person as a nominated representative in writing in AD.
  3. Rights of mentally ill person – it talks about the rights of mentally ill persons like right of non-discrimination and right to confidentiality.
  4. Decriminalization of section 309 of IPC- after the commencement of this act, attempt to suicide is no longer an offence and the sufferer must be provided with help than to be sent to jail.
  5. Establishment of specific boards – this act says that, there shall be Mental health care boards at state and central level.
  6. Responsibility of other authorities – other government authorities like police must help patient in case they see they are neglected or mistreated by the family or other people and must take the patient to magistrate and medical practitioner.

The Internet and Social Connection.

Today, the Internet is one of the most powerful tools throughout the world. The Internet is a collection of various services and resources. The Internet or the World Wide Web is indeed a wonderful and amazing addition in our lives. The Internet can be known as a kind of global meeting place where people from all parts of the world can come together. It is a service available on the computer, through which everything under the sun is now at the fingertips of anyone who has access to the Internet. A human brain to our eyes appears approximately six inches in size only but inside this little bowl hidden an ocean of ideas and thoughts. Internet is not that little word as is generally understood but actually it is the name of whole computer world’s universe which is carrying with it sea of knowledge and information that deals with each and every topic that exists on the face of the earth.

Today, Internet is providing everyone peculiar knowledge and information that one needs. The internet has allowed our world to become a globally connected network that advances knowledge everyday.

The last few years in the society have seen incredible changes technologically and culturally. Life has become increasingly easier as machines designed to improve living standards proliferated. Computers have brought so much information home that many students do all their research from the comfort of their desktop. Socially the changes have been just as great, though perhaps not always for the better. Overall, people are feeling less connected to one another than ever before.

Many sociologists subscribe to the belief that the internet, in-home computer usage and widespread availability of virtual access, are transforming modern social and economic life. Problematic to these issues, however, is whether the changes have been beneficial or detrimental.

If people were to use the Internet primarily for entertainment and information, the Internet’s social effects might resemble those of television. However, research has shown that interpersonal communication is the dominant use of the Internet at home. That people use the Internet mainly for interpersonal communication, however, does not imply that their social interactions and relationships on the Internet are the same as their traditional social interactions and relationships, or that their social uses of the Internet will have effects comparable to traditional social means of communication

ADVANTAGES OF THE INTERNET:

In fact, the advantages out-weigh the disadvantages. The most common thing the Internet is used for is research. Children and students are among the top people who use the Internet for research. Today, it is almost required that students use the Internet for research. Thirty percent of teachers give assignments requiring research from the Internet. In the classroom, sixty-six percent of teachers use the Internet to teach. The Internet has become one of the biggest sources for research. Almost everyday, research on medical issues becomes easier to locate. Web sites have become available for people to research diseases and talk to doctors online at sites.

Another popular thing to do on the Internet is to check out the news. Almost all local news can be obtained through the Internet.  Shopping online has also become a huge success and is considered a great advantage of the Internet. No matter what people are shopping for, it can be found on the Internet. People do not even have to leave their homes. A few companies have collected millions of dollars using the Internet for selling. Clothing is probably one of the most bought items online. Almost every major clothing store has its on Web site. Just one click of the mouse on the items they want to purchase and the items are delivered to their front door.

DISADVANTAGES OF THE INTERNET:

Despite all of these advantages of the Internet, there are numerous disadvantages. Many fear the Internet because of its disadvantages. They claim to not use the Internet because they are afraid of the possible consequences or are simply not interested. People who have yet connected to the Internet claim they are not missing anything. Today technological society must realize, it is up to them to protect themselves on the Internet.

Children using the Internet have become a big concern. When children are online, they can easily be lured into something dangerous. When children talk to others online, they do not realize they could actually be talking to a harmful person. Most parents do not realize the dangers involved when their children log onto the Internet.

Another major disadvantage of the Internet is privacy. Electronic messages sent over the Internet can be easily snooped and tracked, revealing who is talking to whom and what they are talking about. People should become aware that the collection, selling, or sharing of the information they provide online increases the chances that their information will fall into the wrong hands. Consequently, they will become a victim of identity theft, one of the worst privacy violations with potentially devastating financial consequences. When giving personal information on the Internet, people should make sure the Web site is protected with a recognizable security symbol. On the other hand, this does not mean they are fully protected because anyone may obtain user information.

Today, not only are humans getting viruses, but computers are also. Computers are mainly getting these viruses from the Internet.

MENTAL HEALTH; THE TRUTH

HOW IT STARTED

MENTAL HEALTH had been trending across social media platforms after the sudden demise of the Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput who chose to end his life. This incident occurred on 14th June 2020, when India was still under lockdown. Had this happened in a normal situation it would not have garnered this amount of attention probably. But this sent shock waves throughout the country as the actor had always been known to have a smiling face and charming self. There was no clue that he was so unhappy with himself and his life. His death awakes many questions on mental health, suffering, depression and nepotism in Bollywood. Many big names in Bollywood were trolled and blamed for indirectly killing him. Everyone on social media seemed concerned on mental health and even offered a lending ear to their friends and followers. They spoke about how mental health is as important as physical wellbeing and how everyone should support each other and spread only love and no hate. These were the same people who later on started trolling the Bollywood industry, star kids and other big names of the industry. Hypocrisy was very evident. Another disturbing aspect was that the actor’s family was not given privacy. News reporters were practically thrusting microphones and cameras under the nose of the family members of the late actor not allowing them time to even come to terms with their loss and grieve.  The irony was that on one side everyone was trying to be friendly, understanding and wanting to spread only positivity and love, and, on the other side trolling and blaming people and not giving space to the family members. The most traumatic part according to me was that the pictures of the late actor’s dead body started circulating on the internet. The police department had to officially announce that this is immoral and anyone found circulating these pictures will be punished. Some youtubers and news channels took it a level higher and started demonstrating how Sushant would have possibly hanged himself. This was not it, his personal life and relationships were also brought under public scrutiny this just made everything worse.

AN INSIGHT INTO MENTAL HEALTH

MENTAL HEALTH is still something which is not completely understood and accepted by our society. It is not given the attention and importance it deserves. According to the World Health Organisation, mental health is defined as –

“Mental health is a state of wellbeing in which an individual realises his/her own abilities, can cope with the normal stress of life, can work productively, and is able to make a contribution to his/her community.”

Any person no matter the age, gender, community, society, etc. is at a risk of developing a mental disorder. Financial status, fame or luxuries does not guarantee a good mental heath. Even a very successful and ambitious individual can develop a mental disorder.

MYTHS

There are some myths and superstitions regarding mental health that needs to be popped.

  1. Children are not affected by mental disorders: this is a big lie. As I have mentioned before, mental health affects anyone whatever the age or gender of that person. Children can also be affected based on their upbringing and their surroundings. The family background and environment will take a toll on the mental status of the child.
  • People with mental health issues are violent and unpredictable: we often have this misunderstanding that people who smile and laugh are happy and the ones who are sad are depressed. This is very wrong. Many studies have shown that people who are depressed tend to laugh at silly things and always try to have a smile on. They are friendly and jovial and in no means have an intention to hurt others.
  • Mental disorders are incurable: with proper medication and help mental disorders can be brought under control if not cured completely. But many people have been cured over time, a living and known example is actress Deepika Padukone. The right support and help can get you out of anything.
  • Personality weakness or character flaws cause mental issues, people can snap out of it if they want to: this is one of the most common myths that people have. Being lazy has nothing to do with mental health. Depressed people do not wish to stay that way, they do want to come out of it and enjoy life. They try their very best to be happy.
  • Mental health issues are rare: 1 in 8 people are affected with mental health issues. Most of the times we don’t realise that we have mental disorders or chose to ignore it, which is very wrong.
  • Having a mental illness means you’re crazy: this is completely false. Having mental health problems does not in any way imply you’re crazy, it just means you’re vulnerable.

TYPES OF DISORDERS

Here is the list of a few common types of mental disorders.

  • Anxiety disorder
  • Mood disorder
  • Personality disorder
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Eating disorder

CONCLUSION

All things considered, I would request every one to take care of their mental and physical wellbeing. In these trying times, we should support each other and move forward. Do not hesitate to seek help from professional and please don’t self-diagnose. Remember NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE.

Cyber Bullying is a serious problem!

Internet and mobile phones have become an inseparable part of our lives. When the internet was out, there were restrictions on its usage that were imposed on children by the parents almost everywhere. At least they would use it under an adult’s supervision. Now that the use of the internet has become inevitable because of the school requirements and its necessity in the making of assignments and projects, parents really can’t help but make it accessible for their children.

Since we all are aware of the risks and dangers of cell phones and the internet entail, we ensure that they don’t adversely impact our children and their vulnerable brains. Are the web restrictions like age gate, safe search and family filters enough to keep our kids protected from every kind of possible harm in the cyber world? Do we only need to worry about that inappropriate content on the internet or there are other things too?

“Cyber bullying is a term used for bullying kids using technology including digital or social media. It involves the use of harassment, threat, and provocation that leave a negative impact on the mind, mood and overall psychological position of the child. It occurs in kids and teens and normally young children of all age groups. In adults, the same acts constitute a legally punishable crime known as cyber-stalking or cyber-harassment.”

Misuse of your child’s photos, messages or any other thing on digital media, any messages or calls that tend to scare your child out of their wits, acts like calling names, causing embarrassment and insult, faking identities etc., all are acts of cyber bullying. Most victims of cyber bullying don’t share their grief with their parents or teachers. According to a recent study, 1 in every 4 children encounters cyber bullying.

The consequences of cyber bullying vary from child to child. Some children are not that seriously affected by it while others can develop conditions like depression, anxiety, and disorders involving high stress. In some rarely reported cases, some children have even committed suicides that were either provoked by cyber bullying or merely attempted to get rid of it.

It’s not really difficult to spot if a child is being bullied online if we’re smart enough and know our children. Cyber bullying can result in increased distress for the victims along with increased anger and frustration. They will vent this out on various occasions, and it might force them to get addicted to the virtual world where they can have several identities to hide their real one.

The victims will automatically have lower self-esteem since that is the sole purpose of bullying. Prolonged bullying will lead to severe withdrawal from their family and friends. They will begin favoring isolation most of the time and indulging in harmful activities like drugs and alcohol.

Cyber bullying is a serious issue, and it can be truly horrific to go through such a difficult period. Staying strong and fighting back is the only option against these bullies. It’s possible to get over it and live your life again. Seeing a counselor can help the victims handle the incident in a better and a safe way. Life does not get over if you are a victim of cyber bullying and it is possible to fight back.

How to Sleep better at night..!

3 Ways to Improve Your Sleep

Most people aren’t getting enough sleep, plain and simple. But—and this is the important thing to realize—we don’t recognize that we are sleep deprived. In my article on the science of sleep and in my comprehensive sleep guide, I covered this problem, discussed how sleep works, and shared a variety of practical ways to improve the quality of your sleep. If you’re looking for a primer on how to sleep better, check out those two resources.

However, if you want to improve your sleep, there are actually some very simple and practical ways to go about it. I call these strategies the 3 Levers of Sleep.

Here’s how the 3 Levers of Sleep work…

The 3 Levers of Sleep

If you want to improve the quality of your sleep and boost your performance there are 3 levers you can “pull” to give yourself a boost.

  1. Intensity
  2. Timing
  3. Duration

Intensity refers to how well you sleep. As I described in detail , there are different phases of sleep. Two of these phases are particularly important: Slow-wave sleep (also known as deep sleep) and REM sleep. The percentage of sleeping time you spend in these two phases largely determines the quality of your sleep each night.

Timing refers to when you go to sleep. What time do you go to bed? This factor is important for two reasons. First, if you get in bed around the same time each night, it is easier for your body to develop good sleep habits. Second, the time you go to sleep should be in accordance with your circadian rhythm.

Duration refers to how long you sleep. This one is simple: how much time do you spend sleeping each night? 6 hours? 8 hours? It can be easy to convince yourself that duration isn’t very important, but it is critical to your growth, performance, and recovery. Professional athletes often sleep over 10 hours per night. If you’re taxing your body and mind, then duration is crucial for you as well.

How to Sleep Better

How can you use these 3 levers to improve your sleep?

When it comes to intensity, the truth is that there isn’t much you can do. Your body largely manages the intensity of your sleep cycle  for you. It adjusts automatically based on what you need and how much time you are spending asleep. Exercising consistently and getting proper nutrition will help, but these actions only indirectly improve sleep intensity.

This is actually good news because it simplifies things for you. Because your body manages the quality of your sleep on its own, you only need to focus on two factors: timing (when you go to bed) and duration (how long you’re in bed).

If we make another assumption, then we can simplify the situation even further. That assumption is this: You wake up at approximately the same time each day.

If you wake up at about the same time each day, then your sleep duration is basically determined by when you go to bed. Generally speaking, if you get into bed earlier, then you’ll end up sleeping more. Improve the timing and you’ll improve the duration as well.

And that brings us to this practical punchline…

Master Your Power Down Routine

If you’re focused on how to sleep better, timing is perhaps the most important of the 3 levers of sleep. The intensity of your sleep is managed automatically by your body. The duration of your sleep is largely dependent on when you get into bed (assuming you wake up around the same time each morning). And that means getting to bed at an earlier, more consistent time is critical for improving the quality and duration of your sleep.

Sleeping period not only determines how much you take rest but also the amount of energy and work you will be able to produce the next day. If you are taking proper recommended time sleep which is around 7-8 hours and maintain this cycle continuously for a extended period of time you will surely be able to notice a drastic change in your lifestyle and how much productive you have been since you are following the cycle.

To maintain the cycle I have mentioned the best ways as per my knowledge accounted from different researches and from my personal experience though I know not everyone’s body reacts the same but I would definitely recommend it as my routine has improved significantly. Talking about the other aspects of maintaining your sleep would be that it would be beneficial for you in a longer run , your metabolism and the way your body needs to cope up with the ageing factor requires you to start healthy as it is well said that “ Rome was not built in a day” . The earlier you start working on your body the longer it will pay you in many ways , you will notice that you stand out from others , for an instance you can see that from  defence personnel who have retired but still not tired as they are trained for maintaining their health in the least resources available as they know if they do not sleep at night it would not matter as they still have to wake at 4am the next morning .

To conclude I would like to say starting from things that require the minimum effort from side and gradually going towards the harder things is the process you should follow .

Depression in Men

Men are often seen as strong beings that are in control of their emotions. They try to act tough whenever they feel overwhelmed by despair or hopelessness by trying to deny it or covering it up like nothing. But depression has become a common problem today affecting the daily lives of many. It is taking a heavy toll on the work and home life of people all the while expecting them to tough it out.

Depression affects millions of men of all ages and backgrounds targeting even those who are close to them – partners, family, and friends. But it is a treatable health condition, not a sign of emotional weakness. However, male depression affects your life deeply, changing the way you think, act, and feel. Sometimes it can be intense and unrelenting all the while affecting your relationships, sleep and diet patterns, and overall sense of enjoyment in life.

Depression in men often gets overlooked since they tend to be less adept at recognizing symptoms than women. This can result in it going untreated which can have serious consequences.

depression

Signs of Depression:

The classic signs are despondent mood, disturbance in weight and sleep, and concentration problems. The overlooked or stealth signs include physical pain, anger, and reckless behavior. Men often feel agitated and turn to substance abuse. They lose control over negative thoughts and feel hopeless and helpless.

How to deal with depression:

It takes courage to seek help though, be it from a loved one or a professional. Most men suffering from depression respond well to self-help steps.

  1. Connect socially
  2. Maintain a healthy lifestyle
  3. Seek help from a professional

man up

  1. Connect socially: The first step involves finding people you can really connect with, someone with whom you can share your feelings without any fear of judgment from them. Understand that you already have a non-verbal communication with those who are close to you but fighting depression needs actual words. Improve your social network and push yourself for social activities. This will help you interact with people acting as a diversion for your mood. Sometimes solving others’ problems gives a better boost to your morale than solving your own.
  2. Maintain a healthy lifestyle: The second step is maintaining a healthy lifestyle at any given time. Aim for a good night’s sleep at least eight hours long. Identify your stress triggers and find ways to regain control of your life by overcoming them. Practice relaxation techniques or meditation. Yoga helps keep your body active and soothes your mind. Indulge in more activities that interest you like taking a walk or listening to music. A positive lifestyle also includes regular exercise and a balanced diet.
  3. Seek help from a professional: Lastly, you could also seek help from a mental health professional. Even to the most skeptical males, therapy often does wonders by bringing a sense of relief to the mind. After all, there is nothing unmanly in talking to a stranger about your problems if it is doing well to you in the end.

How to attract people in first 90 seconds- Must read!!!

These are the secrets from an amazing book called “How to Make people like you in 90 seconds or less” by Nicholas Booth Man. Likable people are always open, welcoming and friendly in nature and you can notice their sincerity, trust, and self-confidence in their behavior as well, and you can develop all these qualities in yourself by meeting other people in a regular manner. If other people do not find you interesting in first 90 seconds after meeting you, then they would want to get rid of you as soon as possible.

How to Maintain Communication and Culture as a Growing Startup ...

If you want that people like you more, then you have to invest your efforts from the very beginning, and this starts even before you speak a single word from your mouth. Any new person notices three basic things just after meeting you, these three things are your

  1. Body language
  2. Your eyes
  3. Expression on your face

Thus, it is essential that when you meet anyone, these three elements give the feeling of openness to other people. For doing this, you will have to show your interest in them, along with your body, you will have to move your brain as well toward them. This effort will show your sincerity and commitment and openness in the conversation and in them as well after this, you need to see directly in the eyes of other people, this establishes the trust and as soon as you make an eye contact with other person make sure you give a genuine smile to them before they think or assume anything else about you. Let your positive attitude shine with a broad and genuine smile with this simple action, other people will consider you as a genuine, open and sincere person with this simple effort, you already made a warm and welcoming mood for the situation, and now you need to initiate by introducing yourself. You can do that with a standard greeting, like Hi or hello and you must need to do that in a very pleasant tone. Along with that make sure you share your first name to the other person and it will encourage the other person to introduce themselves for example, you can say,….”Hello, I am Akash”. When you say this, then the other person will also share his or her name with you, and as soon as they share their name, you must need to repeat their name like wise you said… “Hello, I am Sahil” you got response… “Hi, I am Sohil” now you have to say, “Sohil, Nice to meet your Sohil.” In his famous book, “How to win friends and influence people,” Dale Carnage shared the fact that the name of any individual is the sweetest sound in the entire world for that person that is why it is essential that you repeat other person’s name in the conversation as much as possible. This method will increase your acceptance and respect, it will also make it easier for your to memorize their name. And finally, you have to lean forward slightly. Just a little leaning would be enough, just like Mr. Obama is slightly leaning forward in this photo.

How To Give A Proper Handshake - Business Insider

With your slight inclination, other people will assume you are showing interested in them, and you are listening to them carefully, also, it will give you a pleasant appearance. Just look at photo and tell who is looking more generous in both of them. Of course, it is Mr. Obama, because he is using this principle.

Studies proved that people hire those people that are similar to them and even most of the time they date people with similar people because they make them feel safe and comfortable. If you try to pay attention, you will find, you enjoy the company of those people who think like you, who behave like you and those who make you feel comfortable. You can be comfortable for them just by synching your voice with their voice. The synching of voice is a very powerful tool in communication skills for this, you need to speak at the same pace as other people are speaking that means if they talk slow, then you should not run fast and second thing, you shall try to use the same tone similar to them. If they are calm and relaxed, and you will speak loudly or with excitement, then it won’t work well for you. You need to use same volume and you need to relax while talking. With this, other people will think you are like them and they will feel more comfortable while talking to you.

In 1979, Dr. Lisa Berkman did a study on 7000 people, and this study lasted for 9 years with this study, she found that people that do not have more social connections or those who do not meet other people, they get ill more often, and it increased their chances of earlier death as well and who meet other people more often, were likely to live longer. So, go and expand your social circle without having any fear, without any complications.

NARCISSISTS and the art of blame game

When we listen to the term narcissists the first thing that strikes in our mind about that person is someone who likes to be the center of attention, likes to dominate etc

The psychiatric literature defines narcissists as possessing specific traits, such as having a sense of entitlement or requiring excessive admiration. characterized especially by an exaggerated sense of self-importance, persistent need for admiration, lack of empathy for others, excessive pride in achievements, and snobbish, disdainful, or patronizing attitudes

BLAME SHIFTING

Narcissists like to externalize blame. It’s a fundamental feature of their modus operandi. As the theory goes, it would internally decimate them to fault themselves. It would cause emotional pain for them to bear which they cant and it could crush their “fragile” egos. So, their unconscious mind puts up defenses, Particularly, defenses of refutation and projection. They may know a mess has been made, but it can’t be because of them. It has to be someone or something else’s fault. These defenses keep them from feeling anxious or despise themselves. But are these really the reasons why narcissists blame others?

Narcissists always have to be right. That means others have to be wrong, until or unless one agree with them. Some narcissists solidly believe in their superiority. Accordingly, they always try to assert it. They want only validation and vindication.

It’s easy to call out the faults of others. We’re all flawed creatures. But narcissists go on the attack for a reason. They know how others really regard them. More importantly, deep down, they know how character-deficient they are. So, they build themselves up by tearing others down.

People with strong narcissistic traits are unwilling or unable to reflect on their shortcomings and destructive behaviours. As a result, they project, blame, and manipulate others to cope with their shallow and shaky self-esteem.

Manipulation tactics include diverting, attacking and putting others into defense mode, lying about others being worse and themselves being better, victim-blaming, and playing the victim.

They have unrealistically high expectations of life.Beneath the narcissist’s disguise are layers and layers of fallacious pretenses they’ve fabricated through the years.

As a consequence of their false sense of grandeur, overcompensation, unrealistic expectations and demands become a constant part of their life equation. They then nurture the image of an overgrown  baby who thinks the world owes them everything while clothing themselves in an appearance of superiority.

Knowing how the narcissist thinks can help you understand toxic individuals. But we all have toxic people in our lives who can’t be avoided, whether it be a parent or parent-in-law, a sibling or a sibling’s spouse, a friend of a friend, or a co-worker whom you just can’t stand.

You can’t blame someone for having narcissistic personality which  can be caused by genetic factors, environmental factors which suggests that people with narcissistic personality disorder have a damaged capacity for emotional regulation and emotional empathy.

Their mental condition is not by choice. But how they choose to act upon it is their choice — and they usually choose not to do anything about it.
