Being knowledgeable!

Knowledge plays an important role in personality development of an individual. It is important to know what’s going around you and what needs to be done, be it social, economical or technical. Confidence comes with knowledge. You cannot stand an interview without having appropriate knowledge. Neither can a person start his own venture without having proper knowledge about the field he is willing to enter. It is all linked, whatever sphere of life it might be. Knowledge stands at the top.

It is never limited to books or magazines; it can also be gained through experience and learning which is an important characteristic of a human. We learn by seeing, watching and observing things. The bookish language is either tricky, boring, lengthy or includes jargon which makes it difficult to get the true meaning of things and hence can be misunderstood. Here, the importance of practical knowledge comes into play.

You see, how vast is the field of knowledge is! It is a field in itself since it is either not accessible to all or those who can, fail to harness enough of it. It is a study where you learn for your interest and observe to know.

The emerging fields to gain knowledge can be finance, social, medical or anything that might interest you and would help you. Knowledge is not a force. It is the basics of a good personality and the reason behind the confidence of a person. Even if you are involved in house chores, it is important that you know what, why, how are you doing or carrying out your work. This builds efficiency and confidence in oneself. Nobody can question your ability if you are a knowledgeable person, in your field.

Some people carry diverse knowledge, the reason being their desire to know and explore more. Limiting yourself to books or doing manual work without good know-how can be boring. Many-a-times people opt to study the subjects which are totally out of their interest, just to get a good job with considerable earnings. Such businesses don’t go well and consequently affect the health of a person. This happens because they make it a burden and try to gain knowledge in a field they don’t belong to. Life is all about exploring new horizons and living them freely. Limits in education obstruct the growth of a person. Go beyond the textbooks and learn from the nature. Know your destiny, what is your purpose and how should you approach it. Again, knowledge about the ways to approach a situation is important. Always choose the right path no matter how difficult it might be. Of course, there are no good things easy and free. Struggle will lead you to the purpose of your life. Just don’t forget to “live” the journey.

Knowledge concerns with personal well-being too, besides caring for the world. The learning you get from your parents and teachers, the experiences you gain from failures, the freshness you feel in the nature, all are a part of the big world of knowledge.

You can find solutions to your as well as others’ problems if you are knowledgeable. Also, improving and constantly gaining knowledge is important whatever area it may concern. You need to be well updated so as to put forward your best opinions and views. It might appear hectic at first but gradually you will get better at knowing things. Making it a habit will help a lot in future. People usually prefer and refer journals, newspapers, etc. for the purpose but “observing” is the best practice to get an insight and build a perspective.

Technology in alliance with Health

The world is moving at a fast pace and so is the technology. The developments are taking place all over the globe with the help of new technologies being invented to solve problems and increase efficiency. It makes operations easy and simple. But it is taking shape of a new trend where machines are valued more than human resources. Robots are being developed to challenge the human ability. We are not much far from the time where everything would be done by the robots and people would just stare them doing tasks. Even the small and simple work are now being outsourced to machines, be it at workplace or casual areas.

Photo by Anamul Rezwan on Pexels.com

This is promoting laziness among the people. The advancement of technology is providing comfort without any hard-work. From cooking to cleaning to switching on the ACs, everything is being done by just a click of the remote. The factories as well as home are covered with machines and automated equipments. This can have effects on health of people. It was the earlier times when people used to be healthy and fit because they did all work by themselves with full dedication. There were hardly any machines and that too to compliment their hard work. Now that development is taking place, it is somehow being misused for the sake of comfort and less is taken care of health. Being on the couch the whole day, ordering fast food from restaurants and spending the day without doing any work has become a habit now. Procrastination and refusal are key factors ruling the life now-a-days. There are no considerable movements physically that can support a healthy life and make the body work.

It is essential for the body to work to its full capacity otherwise one may face bad health physically as well as mentally. The structure of a human body is designed to work. The technology better be used for global accomplishments and improving the condition of the place we live. The garbage collection is something which can harm the health of people involved in it and therefore, we should bring out effective measures to solve this problem through technological assistance. It would be useful enough regardless employing tech devices to do services of waiter in restaurants, etc. It requires high intelligence and costs to make up machines or robots and that the efforts should be respected and directed towards more important issues and present concerns.

Development not only refers to building up good infrastructure but also to skilled human resources and their well being. It is seen mostly people involve in mental work ignoring the importance of physical exercise, etc. Working all day long on the work desk is not good for health. It puts a lot of pressure to the mind and freezes the body restricting flexible movements.

Usage of tech devices that build up laziness should be avoided in daily life. Outsourcing of work should be done where it is required and not when you wish to escape physical involvement unnecessarily.

Global Warming- Heating the mind to stress

It is happening every summer that we find it hotter than the last one. Ever wondered why?

It is not because we can’t tolerate heat but try to blame it all on the season. It is a real phenomenon taking place namely, Global Warming. It points to the increasing heat in the atmosphere and on the surface of the Earth due to the presence of pollutants and carelessness of people.

The problem is increasing manifold with no concern among the people. They are continuing to use products which are harmful for the health of our planet and cause damage and depletion of its ecosystem.

The presence of smoke and melting of Glaciers clearly signals the need to conserve the environment. The issue is we notice the Smog covering the atmosphere and obstructing our vision during winters, but do not find reasons and solutions to it. We read and listen news about the Glaciers melting out rapidly but do not try to find out the reasons behind the same. Even when we know the problem, we leave it all to the government to sort it out for us. However it is equally important for us to participate in them and support the authorities which are working for it. Only few can’t solve a problem created by us all. We all are responsible for it and should work towards the solution. The pollution has been created because we all use ACs, refrigerators, Private vehicles or any of such products which emit pollutants harming the ecosystem. Industries are growing, so is the pollution. The ozone layer is depleting bringing in harmful sun rays that cause skin diseases, cancer, cataract. We are aware about them but still don’t work for them which is completely foolish. We are keeping ourselves in the dark. The effects may not be visible to the careless eyes now but it would lead to long term consequences which can destroy Life on the planet.

Talking about the present, this increased heat on the surface of the Earth is affecting the mental health in a way. It becomes too hot during the summers and too cold during the winters which is all due to the Global Warming. These adversities of the climate affect the mind and the thinking skills of a human. They affect other life forms as well but focusing on the humans, they affect our power of mind.

You might have heard “Too much of anything is not good”. It implies in this situation as well. It’s important for it being hot in summers and cold during winters but too much of them affects the lifestyle. Our body is designed to adapt the natural changes that take place automatically but the changes in the nature that are happening due to our carelessness go against the environment, which is unfavorable for us as well. We cannot hold on to much of heat. It starts moving to our brain from the upper body surface and affects out mental capability.

Anger is the most observed and typical example to prove it. You must have seen people getting angry on small things, during the day, which is because they already handle load of work which is now being complemented by the harmful heat of the day. The sun rays affect the mind. The difference is, it is positive when in limits but converts to negative when exceeds the requirements of the human body. The stress shoots up and you might feel headache very often.

Hill Stations-How’s it like..

Doesn’t matter how miser people are normally but when it comes to summer, they manage it well to spend money on their vacations to Hill Stations. The coolness and serenity a person may get from Hill stations is like no other. The leave from the busy life and entry to the beautiful and mesmerising world of mountains blows the mind off to joy and freshness. Nobody can say a No to a trip to hill stations. They are fun in itself. Even a thought of them can ignite the excitement to travel and enjoy in between mountains which get covered with snow during the winters.

There are a lot of fun activities to engage in with family and friends like Bon Fire, Trekking, Paragliding and much more. The taste of hot meals in the cold, chilling weather of hills is another level! The spicy food gets its real sense at such places. It feels like a life in the clouds when you visit a hill station. The fog is present at all times but you may confuse smoke with it at times since there are many vendors of Corn at the tourist roads, preparing it hot and spicy for people to tackle cold or honestly; enjoy the cold! Due to the slopes of the mountains, it gets difficult to climb up the roads especially when you are looking for a hotel during peak time. The hotels are reached after climbing steep slopes/stairs. Of course nobody needs a ceiling fan in the house at hills. Also, there are not much houses seen since they attract tourists for vacations but are not suitable enough for residential purposes. There are many risks as well, related to a drive to the hills including landslides and cloud bursts. Life is very difficult and only people belonging to the place can tolerate the cold throughout the year. Spending long time there you would eventually miss the heat of summers and might feel homesick.

Boating facilities are also available at some places. There is something unique about every hill station and that makes them worth going each summer. It ain’t too luxurious to stay neither expensive markets. In fact, you can find cheap products here, that majorly include their speciality items. The hills are famous for the greenery and for sure there are juicy fruits that would tickle your tongue and attract you to buy them in bulk. The markets are famous and filled with tourists. People prefer summers to be the best time to plan a trip to hills, escaping the heat and pollution of the cities and calming their mind in between the nature and its beauty.

One can also see the farms and witness the farming and agriculture. Hill stations are homes for a lot of fruits. Apples, Mangoes, Cherry, Strawberry etc are some of the fruits which come from famous hill stations like Kashmir, Mussoorie and Dalhousie. You can go and spend sometime in greenery and eating fresh fruits.

Camping is very popular these days. People like to go to the mountains and spend their time under the stars in the woods rather than staying in luxurious hotels. It saves money as well as gives an unforgettable experience. Trekking, camping, paragliding are some of the very popular activities. People engage in these activities and have fun. If you are looking for an unforgettable experience in low budget, a peaceful environment and natural surroundings, nothing beats the calmness of mountains. Uttarakhand offers a lot of fun mountainous places to visit. One can find a lot of choices to choose from in the state of Uttarakhand.

Partition-A challenge to the Nation

Photo by Still Pixels on Pexels.com

It happened years ago when India faced partition be it with Pakistan or within Andhra Pradesh(making of Telangana). These involved change of boundaries and beliefs but moving ahead we all adapted to them and welcomed new beginnings.

Our Independent Nation was believed to be achieving great heights in the coming years of Independence. The hopes were high and so was the joy and enthusiasm among the citizens. They dreamt of a nation where everyone would be his own master; where they will earn their living their own way and where, there would be innumerable possibilities for growth and development. Of course, the excitement was over their mind and the feeling of freedom was another level of peace and serenity. But, did that happened likewise ? Yes we have come far enough and are still moving ahead. Our past position and present scenario are way different in terms of growth which we have had been able to achieve through years of struggle as a nation. Being labelled as a developing country shows the mark we have reached through collective efforts in the areas of infrastructure, economy and livelihood. The focus is now on sustainable development which aims at development at a pace which does not harm the future goals or requirements of the future generations. This appears a fantastic model but the present needs too need attention to the same level now.

The increasing rate of unemployment, poverty and discrimination are amongst the major issues need to be resolved in order to build a strong force serving the nation at its best.

Each human is a resource and can be utilised in a way that contributes not only to the growth of the nation but the world as a whole. There is a lot that is still unexplored or which requires actions to be taken globally. Individual growth is complimentary to this.

Employment opportunities need to be developed creatively. It simply implies there are already many opportunities, what lacks is creativity and innovation. Though we are constantly innovating ideas but they are technology oriented and not human focused. Innovation is required so that there are ample opportunities for all of us to explore and learn. Technology makes us sick when it is used to make even basic tasks of our life, automatic. Hard work should always be encouraged. Technology feels good when it is used to make complex things simple. The boundaries we see between the rich and the poor, the educated and the illiterate, the working and the unemployed, the women and the men; all these make up for the partition India is facing.

As it is said a lot, “rich are becoming richer, poor are getting poorer”, similarly, the distances are widening between the other above stated partitions as well. The discrimination on the basis of colour, caste, religion, region, gender, etc. are parting the country as we go on. It seems they are left behind on the journey towards development. Still there are many places where women are treated lower to men, having no freedom to live their own way. The ‘minority groups’ still don’t have their rights as a citizen. The “untouchables” continue to be unacceptable and what to say about discrimination faced by the transgender. It is not always the government to blame upon. In fact they launch various schemes to help and support all the classes and sections of the society. The dust remains in the mind of the people who are not ready to accept everyone as their equals, the ones who believe in superiority of one over the other even after living in a democratic country. It may also happen due to the past relations. “What we learn being grown up is what we follow”, this can be a reason why people have a fixed mindset which is hard to change. But as we keep moving there arises a need to take up all, together. The nation is one as a whole and these partition need to be erased for the sake of all. There are more issues that need attention by us, therefore the previous ones need to be sorted to focus on the upcoming. If we can bring the whole nation together, not only by words but behaviour as well, we would soon be able to solve our global matters of concern as well; which include pollution, over-population, ozone layer depletion, water management, etc.

Power of Positivity

You must’ve heard: everyone is fighting their own battles. And pandemic has only added more struggles in our lives. We find our life more entangled and difficult. The big question here is: How can we stay happy and optimistic in such situations and can it really help?

Experts say that staying optimistic in difficult situations help one to look at the whole situation differently. It gives a new outlook and perspective to the individual. Negativity only makes the situation worse. It makes you wallow in your own sorrow. It makes you imagine worst scenarios. It creates problems which weren’t there in the first place. It makes you think that there is no possible solution to the said problem. You start thinking that it’s difficult to get out of the problem you’re currently in. You start thinking it’s all your mistake and you are good for nothing. On the other hand, having a positive attitude towards a situation makes you stronger. It gives you a feeling that you can overcome anything, fight any battle. It makes you think that nothing is impossible. That you can conquer anything.

We all have different problems. We all are struggling differently. Then how does some people conquer their battles easily?

The reason is that they choose to arise above such problems and not let them rule over them. They choose to take it as a challenge and defeat it. They choose to believe in themselves. It’s not that they aren’t afraid to fail, but they are strong enough to try and fight. Positivity gives us strength to stand tall and fight.

One should look at the brighter side of the situation. But what if you can’t find the bright side? Negativity is generally the result of our overthinking. We start over analysing the situation and dwell over what-ifs, which generally lead to giving up. It’s due to negative thoughts that we overlook the positive side of the situation.

As said by Gandhiji “If I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning”.

We all should have that belief in ourselves. Belief in oneself and having a positive outlook can solve any issue. And it’s something that can be acquired. Doing things that you love, pursuing your hobbies, reading books, exercising, yoga, eating healthy food etc can help you in developing that positivity and build your confidence. Investing in yourself is the key. Believe in yourself. Don’t look at the half empty glass but appreciate that its half full and work towards filling it up till the brim.

We should not worry about future, work on our present and forget our past. There is no guarantee of future. We worry about something which is very much uncertain, which is out of our reach. Which can’t even be there. It’s useless to dwell over nothing. As we all know, change is the only constant. Its just that we are all afraid of that change, of that uncertainty, of getting out of our comfort zone. But we all know deep in our hearts that success lies ahead of this uncertainty and outside of our comfort zone. So, how about we just stop thinking and start doing. Just give a try to change and let happiness and positivity fill our life.

Always remember, Positivity creates possibility.

Importance of Budgeting

The process of managing money in a way that it balances your income and expenses is Budgeting. It deals with managing funds and finances in accordance with business or planning your expenses and savings for household. A budget is a must keeping in view the growing needs and rising prices of commodities.

It has been a difficult time during the pandemic for people to allocate their resources in the correct manner. Many lost their jobs leading to end of savings, minimal expenses (leading to reduction in tax collection) and more of supply than demand for products in the market. The economy was down and budgets failed. However the demand was more for medical and necessity items followed by hike in their prices therefore, being out of reach of the poor. Here arouse the need of funds and savings out of the government’s budget (previous years’) that were successful and well managed. They were used to provide necessities to the under-privileged during such difficult times. Not only the government but people who had sufficient amount in their bank accounts (the higher income households) to extend support, did their best to provide relief to the affected ones.

This signifies how proper budgeting can lead to betterment in the future.

Expenses should be kept lower than income in order to save some amount for contingencies or entertainment purposes, as per the situation and requirements.

Photo by Karolina Grabowska on Pexels.com

People often get trapped in debt due to improper planning of their finances. More expenses, less income attracts the mind to tackle it through easy ways which is to take a loan. However the interests act as a load and gradually affect the mental health of a person trapped in them.

The focus should be on easy methods to tackle the problem of finance. Preparing budget plays a major role in it.

  • Monitor your stable incomes and expenses thereby, to get an idea of your current financial status.
  • Analyse your recent spending and start making your own plan. Following are the simple, useful steps to follow and get a perfect plan:
  1. Write up your income (monthly budget) and divide it into two sections namely, Expenses and Savings.
  2. Make place for permanent/ fixed expenses first.
  3. Keep a part from the remaining for your savings and then divide the rest between ‘other expenses’ that might not be compulsory or significant.

This plan would work for a standard budget but situations aren’t the same. There can be more fixed and important expenses than the amount of money in hand. Such cases require support through debt (loans). But it can be handled this time if you create a budget defining your limits of ‘extra-expenses’. Give priority to needs and sacrifice your wants to execute your plans and come out of the debts soon. Save money for investments. It helps in problem solving in future.

Similar is the case for businesses. Funds should be managed accordingly and investments be made to support future prospects of growth and development. Start-ups need to keep a check on their costs and take every possible step to reduce wastage, be it of money or human efforts, since it would ultimately affect the workings and may increase financial needs.

A budget helps allocate the essentials leaving no space for useless expenditures. Monitoring budget plans regularly would help achieve better each time you make one. The major requirement is sticking to it till the end.

Caring for the motherland

Independence day is celebrated as a festival in India and why not! It marks the day when our nation finally got freedom from the trap of the British empire and established its own identity by laying down its own constitution later on. Our great freedom fighters sacrificed their lives for the sake of the nation’s pride and freedom, leaving a message for all of us to take care and develop our newly independent nation. So it becomes our duty to protect the motherland and respect it. But, did we succeed in doing so? Did we bring justice to the sacrifice made by our leaders during the fight for freedom? Till now we have developed good infrastructure and made a global presence in various fields but still we lack many more things that require immediate attention.

The first and foremost is health and hygiene which is very important for us. Health of the citizens is being compromised against work. Be it the rich or the poor, all face health issues in one or the other way. During the British rule, the citizens were forced to act in accordance with their norms and health was barely taken care of. Similar is being observed now. The workers as well as non-workers(unemployed) suffer health problems either due to scarcity of resources or discrimination. This not only talks about food but other such factors that define good mental and physical health of people. The low-level workers don’t get enough pay and those who get, don’t find time for mental peace; their work load is big. There are a number of unemployed as well who suffer mentally for not getting ideal work/job. These cases are the most often and hence, call for support both physically and mentally.

The poor people who do not have any job, look for maximum they could get from the minimal they afford. They are on high risk when it comes to good health since they try to arrange food for themselves and their family without caring for their health, by working at places full of risks like factories, without using proper equipment. They can’t afford protection equipment for themselves and hence work manually, be it garbage picking or other such works. Their families are often seen living on the footpaths or near the garbage sites, risking their lives. Such children get affected by malnutrition due to shortage of resources with them thereby increasing chances of bad health and hygiene in their upcoming generations as well.

This needs to be sort out for the sake of growth of the whole country. Existence of poverty restricts the development of the nation. There is a need for creation of jobs for the unemployed population since we all are human resource which are very useful for a nation and should not be wasted off.

Having mentioned about garbage, it is a serious problem requiring immediate action. There are hardly any local streets which are completely garbage free. The garbage attracts many diseases which is not in favour of anyone.

People still use plastics knowing how hazardous it is as a waste. The pollution it creates has effects on our health. People call destruction for themselves by cutting down trees and generating more waste side by side. It affects all living creatures in one or the other way. Proper disposal is not followed and it takes years for such garbage to settle down and get converted to minerals in the soil. There are ways developed to cope with the problem but none seems ready to take them up. People should try to minimise the waste they create and use resources efficiently.

“Every drop counts”. Water is used extensively by those who can afford it without caring for the needs of the future generations. This behaviour has led to scarcity and unequal distribution among the population. Water is a necessity and hence everyone has the right to access. There has been a huge depletion in availability of water over the globe and we all know Life will not exist without it. Still people are not realising or following steps necessary to save water.

Our future depends on how we act today. Real growth and development is seen in how well managed are we. These problems show that we still lack much more than achieved. It is not the buildings and roads that define us but the humans residing there and cleanliness followed will show our development. Focus should be on the management of resources in an efficient way and being united for a good cause. This can only be done by supporting each other and caring for the nation.

How to improve your lifestyle ?-Managing workload

The busy schedules become headache though they include your interest matter and work. This can be because of improper management of work and making a load out of it. Procrastination is a major reason of work load. The deadlines at the end confuses the project and lowers the enthusiasm of a person. This results in bad quality of work and dissatisfaction.

Lifestyle needs a change if you feel bored of your job and find it a burden on you. It is the same job you might have applied for with great interest and enthusiasm and wanted to join in quick. The same joy can be brought back by simple steps.

  • To start with, you should avoid procrastination. It is the worst habit to possess. Once done, you will repeat it for the sake of comfort. However leaving everything to the future will lead no path besides getting you in a trap and creating chaos. Take responsibility and make it a habit to do tasks on-the-spot. This will help manage multiple things at a time and make way for more.
  • While doing a task, try to make it as interesting that it appears new to you each time you start. Add your own flavor to it by applying innovation and creativity. doing the same job with regular tasks would become fun once you try it the other way keeping the basics same but improving the presentation.
  • To increase your workplace productivity, a positive and enriching environment is a must. Clear the clutter from the work desk sort out all your online and offline stuffs. It can be deleting unnecessary e-mails, pictures, apps or messages from your device or removing useless files and pages from your office room or desk. Replace unnecessary items with important ones and make sure to add positivity to your environment by keeping green plants nearby and attaching colorful frames on your walls. Be in contact of things that bring energy and joy to you and avoid dull colors and bad company. Make friends who are enthusiastic and determined towards their work.

Always make sure you have time for yourself in between the work. It is important in order to re-energize yourself and start the rest of it-afresh. Being engaged for long hours decreases the capacity and productivity. A break is a must. It may include taking a little walk around or having a short meal, having a chat with your friends or fellow workers or whatever is preferred.

A healthy diet is the key to a healthy mind. Eat healthy and nutritious food which not only fills your stomach but provides you with energy and increase your productivity. Green vegetables help improve focus and make the mind sharp. On the other hand, Fruits also provide essential vitamins to the body. Avoid caffeine to wake up in the morning. Apples are a better substitute for them as per a study.

Enjoy your holidays by planning hangouts with friends and family. This will refresh the mind and prepare for the upcoming busy schedules.

Listen to music to stress-out and involve yourself in social interactions at workplace. It is good to remain involved and make your presence felt among others’. Work continuously to improve yourself and achieve more with hard work and dedication.

It is often hard to manage work and family altogether but it is important to earn to run a family. There are many responsibilities on a working person besides issues arising during the tenure. Conflicts can occur often and sorting them out leaving the work can be frustrating for a busy person. However people should try keeping work and family apart and not letting small things affect their lifestyle. There are lot more of such things that may disturb the mind like road traffic and irregularity of an employee but in order to be successful, one should know how to tackle them on a daily basis. Patience and mindfulness are important characteristics of a leader or even a common worker nowadays.

Self-employment Vs Job Vs Profession- What to choose

The corporate world is not limited to jobs only. A person can go for a profession or get self employed as well. Of course, jobs are offered by companies who were once started by a person as a form of self employment/business.

We should never lower our standards or under-estimate ourselves during difficult situations and complexities. Only those who believe in themselves achieve big things so it is necessary that you identify yourself and follow the way of your life be it a job or profession or a business. Nothing is impossible.

Job

Everyone knows what a job is. There are more people applying for jobs than setting up own businesses. The enrollments are ever increasing but the positions are however, limited.

People apply for jobs since they provide a secured return and environment for growth. Incentives are provided over and above salaries and what to say about the government jobs! Most aspirants are found applying to the government jobs only, since they assure reliefs and pension to the employees besides good salary and incentives. Those who wish to play safe generally opt for jobs. However, people of identified and advanced capabilities also opt for jobs in big companies to earn high with their talent and knowledge not being wasted. There are a variety of jobs in a single field which supports individual interest along with providing a platform for skill enhancement and personality development. The working hours are usually fixed for a job and the work load often comes with stress and dissatisfaction at lower levels of operation of a business. Timely completion of work is a necessity when you work under the superiors. The tasks you are assigned with should be done accordingly. There are restrictions related to holidays as well.

Profession

When a person gets specialized in any specific field, he/she can join the profession. You lay your own rules and work according to your convenience while in a profession. This doesn’t mean that you can have free holidays and whatever salary you wish. It means that you have choice of work. A professional is valued and given certain discretions at work in respect of their achievement. A professional worker will always find a place suited to him/her by virtue of its demand and value in the corporate sector. There are opportunities for further growth as well. The more the professionalism, the higher it is valued.

Lawyers, doctors, CA and CS are some examples. Their pay is high; based on the experience and knowledge they hold. One has to do hard work and study to be a professional worker and earn good opportunities to work for.

Self-employed

A self employed person is who starts his own business/venture. It involves great risk for business. A doctor opening his clinic or a teacher starting his tuition classes also come under the category of self employed. A self employed person is his own master and has his own rules but which should be in accordance with laws of the land. It requires planning and execution abilities to start own business. It is not everyone’s cup of tea. You need to be an all-rounder to initiate a plan and manage the workings successfully. Earnings are surely good once everything settles and your costs get covered. Yes, investment is required for it and you must be creative to design a perfect strategy to tackle the competitions.

Based on the capability of a person, choices can be made between the above three. No work is less valued as you require to be hard working and a dedicated and determined person to handle the complexities in each of them. There is need for more dynamic and variety of businesses to start in order to meet the ever increasing demand for employment.

We Want Independence!-A wide view to DEVELOPMENT

The Independence day is marked on 15th August every year in India with celebrations all across the nation. It was the day during year 1947 when our country attained freedom from the rule of the Britishers and initiated a free life without any force or restrictions held upon.

Since then we have had started to build a strong nation by empowering the citizens of the country to contribute their best towards achievement of common goals. Till now we have developed a great infrastructure to rely upon and set an example for the upcoming generations to never limit themselves. There have been a wide range of development and changes from how our nation used to be at the time of independence. Yes, it took a lot time for our nation to settle and move on from the disturbances created by the British rule but it gradually made way for itself.

But is it enough to have good machines and buildings to label the country as a developing nation ?

Development is a far wider concept than this much.

Though we succeeded in earning freedom for the country but have we been able to secure one for its citizens ?

Today we have long streets but are women free to wander anytime there ? We have laid rights and duties for our policemen but are they able to hold them and exercise them whenever it feels necessary ? There are responsibilities and obligations for the ministers but not all abide by them. There are established rules and regulations for a doctor but are the street clinics following them ? There are innumerable schemes and reliefs for underprivileged sections but do they have knowledge and sources for that ? The answer is NO. We still lag behind other countries in the world for which these are amongst the major reasons. Where is the freedom for the locals when they can’t even live their own way!

People take it as just a topic to discuss about feminism but when will we accept it in our lives is uncertain till date. There is no place where we see women walk on streets during night without any tension even after the advent of this modern era. It is still the case in villages that women be kept within walls or should not speak much or should not show their face to outsiders, etc. The lockdown time recorded more cases of domestic violence which raises the question if it is the women’s fault that the men suffer in their life. No. Females are not meant to be hushed. They do hold opinions and require justified treatment and respect to live their life. People call Bharat- Mata signifying the care and sacrifices of a mother and affection of the children for it. So, are these mere words to show off ? Isn’t it the responsibility of everyone to support and care for the women since they too are human and bear feelings as men do. They too get angry but the difference is they don’t let it become heavy on their mind. Crime against women are the reason that they are being limited by the society far below their potential. It is alarming the need for women empowerment and Yes, it is taking place, though gradually but atleast people are being responsible and ignited by the thought. Women have started to fight, women have started to rise! Only the complete support by the men is lacking..

One reason for our failed administration is loopholes in the administration system itself. The Police holds powers but they are not allowed to exercise them when they need. They can catch the criminal but can’t punish them what they deserve because the law stands in between and thinks for the welfare of those who take undue advantage of it! Also, the cases in courts get lined up in such a long queue that when the turn comes, it is no more required to be solved and we know how well this is being misused. There is always a way out when it comes to criminal offences but no way reaches out for the victims or justice seekers. These failures make up our administration. Above all are the ministers who work for money. They favour crime for their benefit without even being identified publicly. These are some of the many drawbacks that we are not able to grow as individuals. These are well known by everybody but the public is helpless! It gets trapped in the lure of fake promises and elects corruption as their representative. Who would anyway dare to confront their power or if somebody does, will the others follow up or support him ? This directs us to another big issue of “unity” among the people of the country. It is only to show off on official days that we are one and stand for nation but deep within people don’t even care for their neighbours whom we call our “first relatives”. It seems like we only say but never do. Those who does are criticised for breaking or hurting the religion code, as always!

What about those who illegally open shops and clinics without being identified and very easily they succeed in gaining attention of their target sections of the society. These fraudsters sell dangerous products and services to the public, risking lives of many. The shopkeepers selling adulterated items and doctors who are not even doctors (fake), opening clinics in local streets are some infamous examples of cheating and harming the people. Another is regarding the land owners and industry employers who are biased with poor workers and keep them untouched of their rights and reliefs.

Similar to these are many more cases where the citizens demand independence from the rule of the “more powerful”. The crimes are rising and voices being suppressed which hinders future prospects of growth of the country and arises an urgent need of bringing spotlight on the public, the locals, the less-knowns and less-identified.

Is Social Media Marketing a good choice ?

Side Effects relating to Social Media Marketing and solution

It has become a trend to promote businesses on social media platforms since they provide a large customer base by widening the reach. It is an economical way and less time-consuming than the traditional method of advertising which used posters, banners, direct selling and other such methods. Therefore it is a good way to attract customers all across the world and communicate the brand in an interesting and unique way keeping in mind the competition on the platform.

This has led to emergence of a variety of ideas to promote businesses especially startups in an innovative and much appealing way. Social media often comes out with new tricks and techniques which are used by people as per their interests and need. However this is leading to an increase in content on media day by day and people are observed to keep scrolling through them on a higher rate.

It is good to use such platforms to promote an idea or business but it’s prolonged usage is affecting the lifestyles of the common population. Social media is gaining importance day by day, increasing the number of users and content shared across. Those unwilling to be a part of it have to use it due to impositions by their organisations. Some use it to remain updated about what’s going around while some use it for information and knowledge purpose. But it is becoming difficult to come out of the web of social media platforms once a person gets stuck in it. This directs to the problem of addiction among the users. Once they start the use, the mind automatically diverts to the less-useful content shared across which doesn’t require attention by the person.

This is a major problem among the youth, distracting them and attracting towards easier paths in life to earn money through social media which is practically not a satisfying decision for young people. They should be more inclined towards hard work and innovations. There is a need for all of us to live the reality without being immersed in the beauty of the virtual world which is actually not everyone’s cup of tea to lean on and adopt in order to earn money.

Social media marketing is bringing more attention towards them. It influences people to buy the products and services using unique ideas of selling through social media. This platform is chosen as there are a wide range of active users who are targeted as customers easily. Business gets easy this way. But it is also advocating more usage of such platforms thus leading us to a virtual reality world where contact is real but medium is virtual. These kind of practices have long term effects on physical as well as mental health of a person. A person interested in products or services of a brand will have to join the social platforms to get in touch with them and gradually he/she would get attracted to useless content and creations, thereby increasing usage (in vain) and lowering the person’s productivity.

Moving to a digital world is a step towards modernization but it must be in check with health. Alternative ways to promote growth of one’s business should be developed in order to bring notice towards physical participation as well. It would be a better idea if people are involved physically to advertise and gain customers. Techniques can be developed for fun activities and methods where the common beings are involved; in order to attract them towards the brand and communicate the necessary information. This way, we can move ahead and out of the virtual world, interacting and contacting directly.

The Pandemic Times and Mental Health

We all have survived the phase of lockdown and seen a lot during that time. Many life lessons came on the way as the situation became severe. It has been more than a year to the onset of the pandemic in our lives and it is still affecting us. Two waves of the virus had already made life difficult and now we receive alerts for a third one. This is affecting all but more harmful for those who are mentally stuck since the onset of Covid19.

It has been a difficult time for small-scale workers who earned living by working long hours on construction sites, factories, etc. pre-pandemic and then suddenly lost their jobs during that time with no other source of income in hand. Ultimately they left the cities and rushed to their hometowns. Similar was the case of other low income groups of society. All work was shut down and their only source of livelihood was locked up. This made up for the reason of mental breakdown and poor health of the major part of population. There were no means left for interaction and enjoyment with friends and relatives. There was a feeling of loneliness, sitting idle all-day-round in the house and people were continuously praying for the betterment of the situation as soon as possible.

Due to the lockdown, many people were stuck at tourist places with no sufficient amount in hand to spend long time there. This led them to a worse off situation, living apart from family and friends. Even the middle class population was losing jobs due to scarcity of resources with the company and the legal restrictions imposed thereupon. Already there was the emerging issue of unemployment in the country and then the pandemic time brought a hike in its rate. Many had to give up a part of their salary to continue with their jobs . The factories had been shut and the production was stopped for many items of use to prevent the spread of the virus. This led to decreased supply for an increasing demand. People were eager to collect stuff for their household quickly to prevent future restrictions of availability. This was all leading to an imbalanced economy. The source of income for the government also declined. There was a significant reduction in tax collection. Public transport were also kept on hold closing almost all doors of revenue for the government due to which they could not invest much in purchases and free treatments for the public. Overall the whole country suffered loss in one or the other way.

The media was flourished with depressing news and each hour brought updates of how severe the situation was becoming. Souls were leaving the world on a greater rate than ever due to a widespread reach of the virus. There was presence of some destroying elements(people) as well, in the society, who openly wandered on the streets carrying the threats of the virus and risking lives of many. The spread was so strong that it could affect a person from even a short distance without being in physical contact. The solution was to keep distance in your house as well. No close contacts were advised by the doctors even within a family; which parted people from their loved ones. Those who were employed in necessary fields had to go out for work and hence many of those preferred staying away in separate places to protect their family.

It is much clear how everyone suffered from inside(mentally). Physical health was already deteriorating due to closing of gyms and fitness centres in the cities but mental health also worsened during these times. Pre-pandemic there was the stress of work with atleast holidays to relax but since pandemic the stress is more related to health and hygiene. Everytime they contacted someone or something socially, people feared. There existed a constant worry in the mind of whether they are safe or not. People started migrating to destinations they assumed to be safer but ended up increasing their as well as nation’s problems. Mental distress prevailed across the world. People pleaded for help but unfortunately there was no immediate solution/action in the hands of government. The pain and sufferings are hard to express. All prayers were directed to the end of those difficult times soon. A bad dream would have been better than this harsh reality. Surviving such times is the biggest challenge of anyone’s life. No one could digest even the thought of seeing their family in pain then how could they experience it so nearly. And what about those who were living apart from their family..

With no or minimal source of income and other personal problems, the mental illness started increasing in the world population as a whole. There was no hope left for better future and isolation triggered the effects of the pandemic on health. There was no escape to the problems. Depression and stress took over the thoughts and power of mind. Situations couldn’t be handled and there was need of psychiatrists but people didn’t react. It needs to be made normal to visit a psychiatrist in case of mental issues related to life.

Improving ‘syllabus’ at school- Part II

“Education is the key to success”. But is it actually providing knowledge to the extent that it makes everyone better off ? Do the lessons taught in schools really matter in our lives ? Is the education system well-established keeping in mind the needs of the times ?

We need to accept that our education system is ruined by some corrupt people hindering the growth and success of the country. Somehow we all know that the training techniques in our schools is old style now and that it requires improvements.

It also becomes a burden for students when they are loaded with tests, assignments and project besides getting regular homework. The classrooms too get filled with only subject-related matter and less care is taken for extra-curriculum.

However there is more scope for extra-curriculum as compared to competitive and corrupt field of academics. It has become corrupt since leverage is being given to some sections or some particular people are being favored in terms of marks(/quotas) or job posts, allocation of funds, etc.

Instead of the regular pattern of teaching, the focus should be made on skill development of students. They acquire more importance in life. Now we see that students lack even the basics of what the corporate world demands of them. From there arises the need to join paid courses after school. You sacrifice peak time for decision making of your life in learning something that should have been the syllabus in the schools! Isn’t it frustrating for someone who holds personal responsibilities and obligations already and had been dreaming of placements and other great opportunities to come on way after education ? Shouldn’t our system be wide enough to support growth and development of individuals, accepting it as their duty towards the nation ?

But the need of the hour is to take action. We can’t continue blaming others’ unless we put forward a step by ourselves. As it has been well said “Be the change you want to see”. The schedule needs to be changed. There is a need for addition of classes for upskilling of students by professionals in the schools itself as there is no time left afterwards, as many say.

There should be attention towards holistic development of a child from the very beginning by arranging music classes, sports period, and other possible skill enhancement classes in schools. This would ensure inclined growth of the child towards his/her area of interest. The students will have knowledge of various fields from the very beginning and this will help them decide early what do they wish to pursue as a career. This is the major problem now-a-days that the youth is not sure of their future goals. They surely have the spark to do wonders but don’t have the correct guidance as to what is best for them or how can they achieve their aims in between the complexities of the world.

The academics should be limited now, to the extent of its feasibility in life and higher studies be offered with a wider choice so that the focus is narrowed upon the future without compromising with present. Knowledge and practical-ability should be given priority over marks and grades. There are innumerable examples of people who were weak in studies but their practical approach proved beneficial for the world. Therefore the students should be taught the practical aspects more than the bookish language and terms.

Coming back to skills, there are a variety of fields where interests of a student can be drawn upon. Painting or sketching, writing, dance and singing, sports(basketball, relay race, badminton), etc. should not be limited to a single period in a week. They should be emphasized as much as academics’ competitions. Training should be provided to those who are keen about such extra activities which are actually, not “extra”.
