Yoga – The art of mind and soul.

Yoga is the mixture of physical, mental and spiritual practices and discipline which was originated in India. The most essential purpose of yoga is to bring together the body, mind and spirit into a whole. Yoga leads an individual to a healthy lifestyle, good eating habits, better mental attitude and positive approach towards the world. The exercises performed during yoga will enhance an individual’s fitness and also benefit in mental well being.

The most common methods of yoga are the physical postures known as asanas and breathing techniques known as pranayama. Yoga teaches an Individual how important your body is and how you can improve your body’s flexibility and make it more strong. As the person starts to understand and value its body, the individual gets more connected with his body. Yoga makes sure a person is evolved for constant progress and has not time to get involved in other thoughts which could lead to anxiety and depression. This leads to a better approach towards the life.

Different types of Yoga.

There are many types of Yoga, today let’s discuss one of the most important type of yoga which is Bhastrika.

The Sanskrit word “bhastrika” means “bellows” mostly employed by blacksmiths to melt metal. Like the bellows fan the hearth similarly Bhastrika Pranayama surges the flow of air into the body to supply heat at both the physical and subtle level–stoking the inner fire of mind and body. When this pranayama is done regularly it tends to remove blockages from the nose and chest. It is suitable for asthmatic patients and removes inflammation of the throat. Bhastrika increases the gastric fire. Pranayama improves appetite and digestion capacity. Bhastrika, when practised with Kumbhaka Pranayama, can generate heat within the body and keep it warm in rainy and weather .

Starting position: Do preliminary conditioning in Sukhasana or the other meditative posture. Sit on a firm chair with an upright backrest, if unable to take a seat on the ground . Keep the body above the waist straight and therefore the spine erect. Eyes can be kept closed.

How to do Bhastrika Pranayama?

The Sequence of steps:

Take in a deep breath and exhale forcefully through the nose, with none strain.
Immediately, breathe in with the same force.
Inhale and exhale repeatedly, deeply and thoroughly, using the diaphragmatic muscles with vigour. The abdomen moves out during inhalation, while the diaphragm descends. The converse happens while exhaling.
The above movements should be slightly exaggerated. A strong nasal sound will accompany such breathing. The process should be rhythmic and controlled, maintaining the speed as per capacity.
Do ten cycles to finish 1 round of Bhastrika Pranayama.

Best practice: Practice 3 rounds/session, with pause in-between rounds. Bhastrika Pranayama should be practised on an empty stomach, after evacuation within the morning.

Few limitations : Heart ailments, hypertension, high BP, fever, vertigo, pregnancy, intestinal disorders, spinal abnormalities and eye ailments, e.g. like a detached retina, glaucoma.

Benefits of Bhastrika Pranayama:

Favourable effect on the respiratory and digestive system.
Drains excess phlegm from the lungs.
Provides oxygen to the blood increasing the vitality of all the organs and tissues
Strengthens and tones the abdominal region.
Calms the mind
Energizes the entire body and mind.
Now that the question of what’s Bhastrika pranayama & its benefits are answered – Do try it out and luxuriate in this monsoon season with radiant health.

So as we come towards the end we can say that yoga is the medicine to every problem. From physic attributes to the inner peace, yoga takes care of everything. Yoga is not something you do for a day but it is a life long commitment to enjoy a healthy and beautiful life.

Personal Development

Personal development can include any skill that you build to improve yourself—your emotions, thoughts, or behaviors. It doesn’t really matter which skills you want to improve; the key to personal development is taking the right steps — steps that help ensure that you reach whatever goal you are pursuing.

What are the most important personal development skills? It really depends on what you’re trying to achieve. But here are 9 that I have found to be important to successful personal development.

1. Start by figuring out which personal development skills you need to build. The first step in any personal development strategy is to figure out how to best use your time. It makes little sense to learn how to code if you don’t plan to be a coder or to bench press 400 pounds if you don’t plan to be a weight lifter. These can be hobbies, but personal development is more about building skills to reach your goals. So it’s good to take some time to self-reflect. (If well-being is a goal of yours, take this well-being quiz to see which skills you need to build.)

2. Develop entrepreneurial thinking. Everyone can benefit from learning how to think like an entrepreneur, regardless of whether or not you are one. Why? Because entrepreneurs are innovative, good at planning for all possible outcomes, and skilled at getting others to buy into their vision or dream. And perhaps more importantly for personal development, they tend to be adaptable to all sorts of situations.

By developing entrepreneurial thinking, you better adapt to whatever your circumstances are so you can more easily achieve your goals, whether those goals are to start a business that makes a positive impact in the world, to set yourself up for an early retirement, or climb Mount Everest.

3. Develop a growth mindset. If we have a “fixed mindset,” we may shy away from challenges that could help us grow. But this can be problematic because our fear of making mistakes can lead us to avoid challenges and new experiences—experiences which would help us grow, improve ourselves in important ways, and create the life we desire.

If we have a “growth mindset” we seek out challenges because we value learning and growth more than we value feeling smart or knowing what we’re doing. That’s why those with a growth mindset often build new skills more easily: They believe they can and so they really work at it.

4. Develop your self-soothing mechanism. High levels of stress are not only bad for our health and well-being, they can prevent us from effectively pursuing and achieving our self-development goals. By learning effective, long-lasting stress-reducing strategies, your body and mind will be more equipped to handle the inevitable challenges that arise when you’re trying to develop yourself.

5. Develop resilience. Resilience is that super-important skill that helps you bounce back quickly after being knocked down. This is one of the most important skills for success because none of us will achieve anything if we don’t keep trying when we fail. We can build resilience by improving skills like emotion-regulation, mindfulness, and positivity.

6. Develop your value compass. It’s not always easy to live by our core values. But when we go through life without following our personal values, we can easily get lost. We may suddenly “wake up” and realize that we are not who we want to be or where we want to be. This is why it’s so important to stay in alignment with our personal values.

What are your values? Perhaps: kindness, curiosity, creativity, hard work, or personal relationships. Define your personal values so you know which actions are in alignment with those values.

7. Create a personal development plan. A good personal development plan takes all these factors into consideration — the WHAT, the HOW, the WHY, and the WHEN. So ask yourself:

What skills will you build?

How will you build them?

Why will you build them?

And when will you build them?

8. Record your progress towards personal development. Keeping track of our progress as we move toward our personal development goals is key to making sure we’re on the right track. Then we can pause and take a different direction if we’ve gone off course. By maintaining self-awareness and frequently checking in with ourselves, we can identify things that we need to devote more attention to. As a result, we can make better progress toward our personal development.

9. Keep developing yourself in new ways. The science is clear: The more ways we develop ourselves, the broader our skill set, and the more success we tend to have. So try learning some new emotional skills or do some activities to build new skills. You just might learn something that changes your life.

How to open a Franchise without money- US…

let’s talk about to open a franchise with no money so the first thing you can do, if you want to open a franchise with no money down is go to your friends and family look. I understand that that’s something that you may not want to do sometimes that’s a toughest conversation asking friends and family for money but I would assume if you’re willing to open a franchise and you have some skill sets you have a certain level of intelligence and a certain level of ambition so assuming that you have a good reputation and a good rapport with your friends and family then that’s the first place that you can go to get money to fund your franchise.

Now when you’re approaching them for the money it’s important to be tactical and strategic about it and you don’t just say hey! can I borrow ten thousand dollars can I borrow twenty thousand dollars can I have fifty thousand dollars you have to go into it strategically so go into it with a business plan this is the franchise that I want to buy this is the amount of money that I need to get started this is a lot the amount of money that I think I will make with the franchise this is the time period which I can pay the money back to you and get on that loan repayment plan, another way to approach getting money from feds and friends and family to fund your franchise is to ask them to be a partner with you so although they may not want to work in the franchise themselves maybe they’re more willing to give you money or lend you money for the franchise if they are an owner or an investor with you so maybe you’re the one that runs the franchise and you handle the day-to-day operations the sales managing the staff managing the overall business and they get a percentage of the profits as a way of paying them back.

The next way that you can fund a franchise is to get a loan and before you read about that real quick with the franchise so now in getting a loan to open a franchise business it’s important to note that one you’re going to need to have good credit and two you’re going to need to have an income that can support paying back. The loan and three the likelihood is you are still going to need money for the down payment on that loan if you get us an SBA loan which is Small Business Administration they require a minimum of 10% down from you in order to fund that business so what does that mean if you need $100,000 for your franchise business then that means you need to come up with $10,000 in order to here that loan so the question is how will you come up with that $10,000 and there’s a number of options that we’ll go over in a second of how you can do that one way you can do that is what we already talked about which is getting money from friends or family it’s so even with the Small Business Administration having a ten percent minimum requirement that you have to put towards the loan in order to open a business.

Most lenders that issue SBA loans are going to require anywhere from 20% to 30% in order for you to secure that loan so again in that example if you’re looking to open up a business that’s a total of $100,000 you’re going to have to figure out a way to come up with twenty to thirty thousand dollars in order to secure that loan and so in a second I’m going to tell you about a strategy of exactly how you can do that without having to ask your friends or family for money another way that you can fund a franchise without having any money so to say is seeing if you have any 401k or retirement plans now as someone who has managed over a hundred million dollars over the course of career as a financial advisor typically. I would not recommend for someone to take money out of their 401k and that’s not what I’m recommending to you. So, I want to make sure that you get that clear because there are severe penalties and tax consequences that you should consult the tax advisor about but there are ways that you can leverage your 401k so if you’re still working with your employer you can take out a loan against your 401k in order to fund a business and when you take out a loan there’s one thing that you have to be very careful about the thing that you have to be careful about is that if you leave that employer and you have an outstanding loan they are going to make you repay that loan within a certain period of time usually it’s 60 days if that is the case if you don’t come up with the money and repay the loan for the 401k they count it as an early distribution you’re going to have to pay taxes on that money depending upon if it’s a pre-tax 401k and you may have to pay some penalties. 2 guys opened up first location they were going to need 300 just over $300,000 in order to get first location open so they had a significant equity in their home at that time and want to went ahead and apply for a home equity loan they secured a three hundred and ten thousand dollar home equity loan use that home equity loan to fund the business and to pay for the business about a year or so later they actually wind up moving they sold their house the home equity loan was paid for paid off and now they own the franchise in the business completely outright don’t have any loans on the business and then the last way that you can potentially buy or open a franchise with absolutely no money is to talk to the franchiser again it’s not about the resources it’s about your resourcefulness so it never hurts to ask them and to make a pitch if you’re truly excited and confident about the opportunity.

The bitter truth about the “wokeness” surrounding mental health.

Depression is termed as a mood disorder that makes the person affected be constantly in a state of low mood with an aversion to activity. It is said to be a constant feeling of sadness. But is it though? I don’t think it so simple to term something that can eventually lead you to take your own life, or at the very least haut you with suicidal tendencies for the rest of your life. I think we all know where I am going with this, Sushant Singh Rajput. He surely was a brilliant actor, a profound intellectual and definitely a charming person overall. However, this isn’t one of those posts. I am not going to jump to either bandwagon be it that he wasn’t strong enough or that he was yet another victim. This isn’t simply a black and white issue, and for what it’s worth, there isn’t simply one culprit in this case.

Photo by VisionPic .net on Pexels.com

Sushant was the very definition of someone who struggled against the real world to make it to the reel industry. But since he didn’t have much of a background or a godfather so to say, he was often relegated. That is all I am going to say on this topic, because unnecessarily bringing up his name seems a bit desecrating. Which brings me to the point out the despicable behavior of not just the media and the supposed “heavenly” B-town members but also the common people on social media. In an effort to seem much more emotionally matured and woke, every one gave their own eulogy to him constantly tagging him on social media. These people never once thought about what his family and loved ones would think when they saw a gazillion fake eulogies and crocodile tears, all the while they themselves aren’t ready to accept this death. I believe we as a society get a voyeuristic pleasure from doing all this. Some people based on tiktok and similar apps even devised click-baits surrounding this issue. As if this wasn’t enough, another trend that has risen is a supposed wokeness in terms of mental health, where people would post on social media that they are ready to listen and mend the depression of random strangers online, never considering the fact that they are the same people who unnecessarily troll and bully others. They say whether or not I know you I’ll help you out, even when they have never helped their family or friends. Its easy to assume that people can talk to random strangers or call helplines to prevent their depression. How can they do that when they aren’t even able to approach their friends or family. While the present generation at least acknowledges depression and suicidal tendencies of those suffering from it, a majority of the older generations feel that it isn’t something to worry about, that those who feel or do so are simply weak minded. Its not that easy to approach someone, when you yourself keep on doubting your self-worth. And the fact that people have taken the mantra of “I’ll help you just reach out” in order to increase their social standing and to seem hip in the present times doesn’t feel leave a good taste in anyone’s mouth. I do not think I even have to mention how despicable and self-serving Indian media is, which while being controlled by money-hungry media houses isn’t that surprising. For you need to be worse than the lowest scum to term someone’s suicide as a “hit-wicket”. For someone to take their own life, they definitely must have suffered when they had lived. However, by doing so we do not let the dead rest even in death.

This “wokeness” is definitely a nine days wonder, and soon this too will pass and we all will be back to our hateful and spiteful selves. Should something change in our way of living would certainly be a god blessed miracle

Importance of training employees for your organization

To fully understand how to deliver great training, it’s vital to know why training is significant for employees. We’ve created an infographic that highlights the importance of training employees in an organization:

Importance of training employees

1. Improves employee performance

The prime motivator for employee training is to improve productivity and performance. And when executed well, it does just that. It provides your employees with the expertise they need to fulfil their role and make a positive impact on your business. The skills they learn empower them to deliver a better quality of work with a fast turnaround rate.

It also gives your hires a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities within your organization. They know their targets and they’re equipped with the tools to effectively meet them.

2. Increases engagement

Engaged employees have an increased level of productivity – it’s as simple as that! Through training, you’re continuously engaging your employees and enabling them to engage back. There is two-way communication, opinions and internal workings are shared, meaning your employees are always up to date with what’s going on. This makes them more emotionally invested. They care about their role and are more willing to commit their time and energy to the company.

3. Improves employee retention and growth

It’s common knowledge that the hiring and onboarding process can be a costly and time-consuming task. And a powerful by-product of increased performance and engagement through training is improved employee retention

Training boosts a feeling of value in employees. It shows that you’re committed to providing them with the resources needed to ensure they’re doing a good job. In turn, they’re more likely to enjoy their work and remain in your organization for longer. It also nurtures them further in their career within your organization. One of the biggest benefits is that you’ll have more opportunities to hire from within, reducing recruiting and onboarding costs for your business.

4. Consistency in training

Creating consistency within an organization is difficult. But training helps reduce a disparity between your teams. Each employee has a baseline knowledge of their individual and their team’s goals, putting everyone on the same page. Additionally, employees all receiving the same training means they share responsibility and are aware of their role on the team.

5. Tracks employee skills

With eLearning, particularly with a learning management system (LMS), you can track the training your employees have taken. This has two big advantages.

Through insightful reports, you know if your employees are up to date with their training. Reports are a powerful tool if you’re delivering onboarding training or have to prove training has taken place, as is usually the case for compliance training. Tracking your training also helps you to provide better training for your employees. It enables you to identify what they are and aren’t engaging with. So, you can improve your course content based on these insights, ensuring that your employees get better training overall.

6. Address internal weaknesses

A lack of awareness of internal weakness is a hazardous thing within an organization. Training overcomes this as you can educate your employees on important subjects that help overcome and avoid any issues. Additionally, it creates a knowledge-sharing environment – your employees learn from managements’ and each others’ past mistakes and wins. This ensures that recurring mistakes are reduced and your employees know the strategies for success.

7. Happier customers

Perhaps the most impactful aspect of employee training is its beneficial effect on your business’s growth. Simply put, better-trained employees make more productive team members, that serve your customers better. The result of this is that your customer retention increases – happier customers stick around for longer and buy more. This can powerfully fuel your business’s growth.

EFFECT OF BRANDING ON CUSTOMER PURCHASE DECISION

Branding is the process of giving a name or a sign or a symbol to a product.
One of the most important decisions that a marketer has to take in selling a product is in respect of branding. He/ She has to decide whether the firm’s product will be marketed under a brand name or a generic name.
Generic name refers to the name of the class of the product. If the products were sold by their generic names, it would be difficult for the marketers to distinguish their products from that of competitors. Therefore, most of the marketers give a name to their products, which helps in identifying and distinguishing their products from the competitors products.

As the traditional marketing tools and techniques has been replaced by the modern marketing tools and techniques and the number of factories of every good has now been increased, the producer tries to make their product different from other producer of the same product. These things give birth to a new marketing dimension and new era of marketing by the emergence of BRANDING.
In olden days, the brands were just a mark, sign or some sort of numbers to differentiate their goods. The brand then builds many function which creates the value in the mind of the customer. Like the advertisement, which is the function of the branding and it creates a unique association and memory link in the minds of customers on one side and on the other hand, it creates the demand for your goods and services as it attracts the customer, it creates awareness about your production and also educate the customer about the use of goods and services.

ADVANTAGES OF BRANDING
To the marketers

  1. Enables making product differentiation.
  2. Ease in introduction of new product.
  3. Differential pricing.
  4. Helps in advertising and display programs.
    To the customers
  5. Helps in product identification.
  6. Ensures quality.
  7. Status symbol.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A GOOD BRAND NAME

  1. A brand name should be short, easy to pronounce, spell, recognize and remember.
  2. A brand name should suggest the product’s benefits and qualities. It should be appropriate to the product’s function.
  3. A brand name should be distinctive.
  4. Chosen name should have staying power i.e., it should not het out of date.
  5. The brand name should be sufficiently versatile to accommodate new products, which are added to the product line.
  6. It should be adaptable to packaging or labelling requirements, to different advertising media and to different languages.
  7. It should be capable of being registered and protected legally.

Brand image is positive and creates many customers and build strong customers relationship with them and maintain loyalty. But if the brand image is negative, it will be harmful as there will be no customers repetition and retention. So, firm pays a huge investment on advertisement to maintain the brand image and brand equity management programs. As brand image creates perception in customer mind so after purchase, if cognitive dissonance occurs then there is a change in customer’s behavior.
Brand association will impact the consumer buying pattern and behavior. These associations will affect your decision positively if the brand image is positive. Brand loyalty reduce the cost for the firm to retain the customer forever. A loyal customer is helpful for the firm to create new customers.
Generally, brand has greater impact on consumer buying behavior. But at local level, behavior of customer also changes due to branded products and services. Consumer buying behavior is the study of actions of consumer towards planning, purchasing and consuming goods and services.
Consumer buying decision consists of 7 steps:

  1. Need recognition
  2. Information search
  3. Pre-purchase evaluation
  4. Choose alternative
  5. Purchase consumption
  6. Post consumption evaluation
  7. Feedback
Now, market has become too much competitive due to hyper competition in the market. The best way is to compete these conditions by developing a strong brand image. Basically, the key driver of brand equity is simply brand image. By easily remembering brand , quality production increases which leads to sales increase and makes mire profit. It is the best way which leads towards maximizing market share and to sustain competitive advantage and strong position in the market.

Who are you?

You weren’t what you thought you were. You are not who you think you are. You will not going to be what you have thought you would be. It’s just a thought that would remain as a thought. Try to pose a question to yourself ‘Who are you’, ‘Why did you came to this world’, ‘what should you do before you no longer exist’.

Try to think for a while. Everything has a reason. You also have to do something with your life. There is a reason for your existence. Don’t try to leave this world without completing it. Don’t try to become what you think you could become. You will become what you have to become but not what you think you could become. Accept what you have become because its intended that way. Try to take everything in a positive way and move on. You can’t change what you can’t change. Try to be in change rather trying to change the change. Experience the change. Try to become what you could. If you became what you thought you would become then definitely that is not you became what you thought to be. It is coincidence of life. Life wanted to see you what it thought to be and that had matched with your thought of becoming.

Life is a game which makes us play the same way that it thought to be played. We are just the players who can’t olay the way we want to because our options are limited. The game is played in the way that it had to be played. We think that we can play the game the way we want to play and will be thinking the same until the end. We think that we can change the way the match is to be played but we can’t. But we never stop trying. This is the way the game is played. The life makes us believe that we could change the way the game is played and we try to do what we think that we could do but we never knew the game plan of the life is also same. They built up the hope within us and make a fake promise and make us try the way that had to be done. We didn’t do what we had to. Life made us do what it had to.

Don’t believe yourself blindly. The only thing that matters is hardwork. There is no shortcut to success. Don’t believe in smart work. The real smartness is believing in working hard rather than fooling yourself being smart. Don’t try to remember the things that had to be remembered because the things appear to be remembered because they made it look like the things that should be remembered. Similarly don’t try to look at the things the way they seemed to appear. If you want to be who you would be then definitely don’t try to be what you thought to be. Try to look the things in a different manner because it’s the only way to make the things appear normal. The normal appears to be normal only when the normal isn’t normal. The only way to do it is seeing normal to be abnormal.

You are here not for something that you thought. You might be here for the things that you thought you had to do. There is a right time for everything. You will get to know about your doing before you ought to do. You don’t know who you are but you will do what you had to. Your existence has a reason and the things that you had to do will be done before your realise your existence.

Happiness in small packets

In this fast pacing life where we all want to do something big and are working towards it  day and night to achieve that, we often tend to forget ourselves. We limit ourselves  so that we only focus on that one big  thing in life. Thats expected  because life  is short  and there are many things to achieve. Like said in the movie “Bawarchi”  In waiting of a big happy moment we miss theses small happy moments.  we take many things for granted, we tend to forget that things change with time and they don’t stay there forever, like spending time with family and friends and To be grateful for the things we have.  These things may look insignificant but they have a great impact in our lives. Having a heartfelt conversation with your well wishers can bring out solution to any problem one faces, also the support they give can give the strength to face any difficulties in life. When we give importance to the things which makes us happy , it actually adds meaning to our lives this is what makes us different from machines that can’t feel anything rather just work mechanically and rest so as to get charged up to work again.

Like we say love should be just a part of our lives, career also should only be a part of our life rather than the whole life. You can prioritize career over anything else but that does not mean, you stop yourself from doing anything else. Your life is what you define not with what one has to say about it . Its all about adding meaning to your life that actually makes you realize the importance of being alive, and eventually to respect it. Nothing is more important than being alive. Stress and problems do come and go, nothing is permanent taking any step in that rage which will cost life should never be an option. In India over 28 people commits suicide every day  and most of them   between 15-40 years of age. There are many reasons like pressure of studies, unemployment, and sometimes loneliness.  You may wonder how can loneliness kill a person?

When a person feels lonely, thats a the time where he or she feels completely stranded like there is no one to talk to or express his feelings. One thinks no one cares about him and  such feelings starts to fill up the mind then one thing leads to other and such people take a harsh step of ending their own life. Its just a thought of one second, if  at that time like in Bollywood movie’s hero  their conscience hits them and make them realize what they are doing is completely unjustified this can save  their life . We just have one life , that would end one day why to end earlier.  Its not very difficult  to be happy, it just requires us to  do things that gives us  happiness. When years passes by one would look back and feel how grateful he is to the hero that came on time and rescued him from taking the terrible step, and as it is said  life should be big and  that should be  filled with happiness .

BIPOLAR DISORDER!

Extreme highs to extreme lows.

Mental health is being understood as one of the primary areas in health protocols around the world and has also been included in the Sustainable Development Goals. Mental Disorders are among the leading causes of nonfatal disease burden in India, but the States lack a systematic understanding like the risk factors, disease burden. In 2017, 197·3 million (95% UI 178·4–216·4) people had mental disorders in India, including 45·7 million (42·4–49·8) with depressive disorders and 44·9 million (41·2–48·9) with anxiety disorders. One in seven Indians were affected by mental disorders of varying severity in 2017. In the same year, India launched the Mental Health Care Act which focused on delivering
proper, inexpensive, and widespread permits to mental health care. The proportional contribution of mental disorders to the total disease burden in India has almost doubled since 1990. The World Health Organization (WHO) reported in 2001 that about 450 million people worldwide suffer from some form of mental disorder or brain condition and that one in four people meet criteria at some point in their life. More than 2 million adults in the U.S. are coping
with bipolar disorder right now. https://www.webmd.com/bipolar-disorder/understanding-bipolar-disorder

Depression and bipolar disorder!
Depression and BPD have similarities but they aren’t the same. Depression deals with deep thoughts, emptiness, feeling low, not loving things that you probably used to cherish, extreme sleep problems. Bipolar disorder deals with both ups and downs in moods. One may feel irresistible, energetic in extreme highs, and depressed, awful in extreme lows.
What is bipolar disorder?
Earlier people used to consider bipolar as mood swing but research showed that a disorder named as ‘Bipolar Disorder’ causes tremendous shifts in moods from extreme low to extreme high. Bi means two and polar refers to the two polarities in the mood. Bipolar disorder is basically a serious mental illness of the brain. An individual can go for periods of depression and boosted moods(extreme low and extreme high). If severely boosted moods then it is known as mania, whereas if not so severe then these are called hypomania.
Causes.
The exact cause is unknown but there are unavoidable facets that contribute to this epic disorder. The causes can be genetic as well as due to surrounding. Environmental causes include long term stress, childhood abuse, psychological trauma. Genetic facets constitute about 70–90% of the risk of developing bipolar disorder.
Symptoms.
In this disorder, the individual may go through highs and lows in mood and personality. When they are extremely high they feel on top of the world, can’t sleep, unbeatable, easily distracted with low focus, a lot of energy, showing risky and impulsive behavior. In their major lows, they feel depressed, hopeless, guilty, do not sleep or sometimes may sleep a lot, loss of appetite, loss or gain in weight. While these symptoms go on, they also come up with suicidal thoughts. In severe conditions, they can outdo committing suicide too.

Treatment.
Psychotherapy, antidepressant, Antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, talk therapies.

What if not treated?
If not treated in due course of time, an individual may indulge in alcohol and drugs. In less serious cases, they may end up losing a job, dissatisfaction with themselves. If a student suffers from BPD, he may face grades declining or may even fail. If the treatment not delivered in proper time, they end up giving on life and commit suicide.

If you are suffering from one such, then go visit a doctor and take proper medication. Do not ignore such conditions, talk to your beloved one!

Confidence build-up pathway!

One way to make a big difference to your life is to gain confidence. From negotiating your salary, to standing up for yourself, to believing you can make your dreams a reality, confidence is often the most important ingredient. But confidence doesn’t come naturally to most of us. For the majority of people, those big moments where you have to believe in yourself usually result in self-doubt and a little anxiety. This is normal.

The good news is that confidence isn’t just a magic quality that some people have and some people don’t. Confidence can be developed, it just takes a few tricks and some practice. It might seem impossible at the start, but if you keep a few things in mind then you really can gain confidence with time. Here’s a few simple tips to get you started.

1. Take care of yourself

One of the best ways you can begin to value yourself and see your own importance more is to start taking care of yourself a little more. Take some time to make sure you are eating a little better or giving your body the exercise it needs. Over time, you will begin to see the improvements you have made to your health and the importance of valuing yourself.

2. Give someone some help

It could be something small, with a neighbour, a friend, a colleague, or a complete stranger. Most of us have a family member who could do with a little assistance in their lives, especially the elderly who need caregiving sometimes. By making a difference in someone else’s life you will see just how impactful you can be, which can be a great way to gain confidence.

3. That voice is not right

We all have voices in our head that tell us things we shouldn’t listen to. Those voices can trick us into doing silly things, but did you know there are some great psychological techniques for ignoring or controlling those voices? The next time you hear the voice that tells you that you can’t do something, or don’t deserve something, just remember “It’s just a voice, that doesn’t make it accurate.”

4. It’s not about what you can do right now

If someone asks you to do something that you can’t do, don’t lose confidence. The only important thing that is that you can find the motivation to learn how to do this thing, or that you can tell the person this is just not possible. Having confidence is not just about who you are right now. It’s definitely not about who you used to be. It’s about who you are going to become.

So, keep these few tips in mind, gain confidence little by little each day, and keep moving forward. This can make a real difference to your life and work, so give it a go. A more confident you starts today.

Mental Health: Children, Young People, and Families

Mental health is a widely overlooked aspect of a person’s health. People don’t consider it as important as their physical health, mostly because the injuries are not visible. However, they often forget that the signs are always there. Mental health problems are often directly proportional to the day-to-day happenings in our lives. Most mental health problems start developing at a very young age, but parents often ignore the warning signs. At such an impressionable age, children need to be taught about their mental well being too. It is imperative that we address the issue of mental health among children, young people, and families.

Children and Young People

It is seen many-a-times that the physical needs of a child are obvious, but his or her mental needs may be neglected. Even when the red flags are identified, there is a stigma associated with mental illness.

Some problems that children suffer from are ADHD, autism, anxiety, anorexia (eating disorder), depression, and bipolar disorder. Warning signs include intense mood swings, self-harm, substance abuse, sudden appetite loss, fidgeting, and continuous nightmares.

health

A few suggestions to nurture a child or adolescent’s mental health could include talking to them about their day; asking them if they are facing any problems at school. This strengthens your bond with them and they start trusting you more. As a parent, make sure that your ward eats a healthy and balanced diet, is physically fit, and takes part in outdoor activities.

Provide children with a healthy environment at home; a child should feel secure in his surroundings. Help them build their self-esteem and confidence while talking to them. Encourage their first steps towards new interests. This would enable them to open up more and express their feelings and doubts. And most importantly, don’t condemn them when they do something wrong. Instead, let them know their mistake and work together to improve it.

Families

It is obvious that an individual’s mental health problems will have consequences for others within his social networks and most importantly his family. When it comes to mental illness, the emotional and behavioral consequences for family members go largely ignored along with having a huge impact on their financial component.

menheal

Family life often becomes unsettled and unpredictable as the needs of the ill become paramount day by day. The afflicted often feels that he’s isolating those close to him. Children may find it difficult to understand why their parent is not his/her usual self. Therefore, many tend to blame themselves and grow up feeling abandoned, lonely, and isolated.

In case a family member suffers from a mental health problem, you should not let him feel dismissed and disregarded. Instead, you could try to understand what he is going through, his inner turmoil, and try to help him cope with that. Children need special care at this time as they are perplexed by the happenings in their lives.

You should try to mend the broken relations, leave the toxic people in your lives behind, and create a positive impact on others’ lives.

What to do at the time of depression!!!

If you’re depressed to feel a little bit better and I want to make sure you understand what those are but first I want to start by helping you understand what the typical signs and symptoms are:

1- One of the most common signs of depression is a feeling of sadness or irritability that is really pervasive and doesn’t seem to go away no matter what you do if you’re with friends if you’re by yourself the sadness just sort of becomes your reality irritability can also be present and this is much more typical in teens that they will present with more irritability than sadness when they’re dealing with depression.

2- Feeling really hopeless and this can be hopeless about getting better it can be a sense of hopelessness about the future and the ability of sort of achieving your hopes and dreams and again it’s a very tough symptom to deal with because other people can tell you, know you have so much to look forward to or this great thing is happening in your life but if you’re really struggling with depression that hopeless this just kind of takes over and keeps you stuck.

3- You should be aware of is something called anhedonia. This is really a fancy way of saying a loss of interest in things that you previously used to enjoy so for example you might really be into gardening and all of the sudden you find that no matter how many times you garden or if you try to garden there’s just not the same joy that you’re getting out of it that you used to or maybe you used to really be really social and enjoy spending time with your friends and you find that you just can’t bring yourself to get out of the house and to go and interact with these friends and it’s really difficult to deal with because it’s very hard to motivate yourself. When the things that really used to be what got you out of bed and got you ready for the day no longer hold the same enjoyment and pleasure.

4- Either decreased concentration and/or indecision the difficulty with making decisions and this can be really difficult when you have to function either in the workplace or you have a lot of responsibilities at home because you’ll find that it’s harder to complete the tasks that you need to complete and if you do need to make decisions there’s almost like this decision paralysis where you find that you just can’t get yourself to the place of making choices.

5- You should be aware of our changes in sleep and this can be either that you find yourself sleeping a lot more than you used to and having like a really hard time getting out of bed maybe you’ve never been a Napper and all of the sudden you’re taking a nap every day on the other side of the spectrum many people who are struggling with depression find that they can’t sleep that they’re racked with insomnia for the first time in their life and they’re laying in bed and their thoughts just keep running around and they’re feeling sad and they’re feeling hopeless and so either too much or too little sleep is a really cardinal sign of depression that you should be aware.

6- You should be aware of our changes in appetite or weight and this can be either in the positive or the negative depression sometimes when people are depressed they find that they use food for comfort and end up eating a lot more than typical and gaining weight and sometimes when people are depressed they lose their appetite completely and don’t eat at all and find that they lose weight so if you’ve had any significant weight changes within the last couple months and you also have some of the other signs and symptoms we’re talking about it might be a good idea to consider that there’s some level of depression going on that you’re struggling with so another.

7- Lastly sign of depression that we’re going to talk about today is a sense of worthlessness so and really this is very difficult for people to handle because it’s a sense that no matter what they do they’re not enough their life is not enough and it won’t ever be enough and this is such a difficult thing to be dealing with and so I think my overall message as you’re learning about these signs of depression is that if you’re experiencing these please reach out and make an appointment with a licensed professional to talk about this because this is something that can get better and you don’t need to struggle with it on your own if you think that you or someone you love might be struggling with depression please reach out and make an appointment with a licensed professional for an evaluation there are many therapeutic techniques that can help you or someone you love feel better and so I strongly encourage you not to hesitate to get the help that you need.

HOW PERSONALITY WILL HELP YOU SEARCH FOR A JOB

GET TO KNOW YOURSELF BETTER:You may prepare to research your strengths and shortcomings during an interview, yet how well does one truly comprehend them? “You’ll want to assess any gaps in your skills, but once you check out these from the attitude of your personality and values, you’ll gain a sensible , genuinely insightful understanding of your true pattern of strengths and weaknesses,” Schofield states. The outcome? You will seem more genuine, mature and mindful just in case of applications and interviews. Everyone has shortcomings; on the off chance that we can exhibit that we as of now perceive our own, and know how to overcome or direct them in a positive manner, this may run over much superior to a half-hearted stock-phrase
You will come better off with your interview preparation, and when you’re straightforward about whether you’re a solid match for the job, you’ll have a superior chance of getting an interview call.
YOU WOULD BETTER YOUR COMMUNICATION SKILLS AND BECOME a far better PROSPECT:Communication skills are critical for qualifying for majority jobs, and they’re vital in terms of getting the specified career opportunities.
Getting to understand others’ communication styles and the way they convey with you is similarly as critical as going to know your own. When you got a firm grip on your own abilities, personas and interests as they identify together with your job search, you’ll be a far better off applicant and more inclined to get the job post interview.
YOU WOULD REFRAIN FROM APPLYING FOR UNSUITABLE JOBS:You can be more sure and assured when trying to find employment on the off chance that you simply comprehend what has clothed wrong previously. On the off chance that you simply continue missing on career opportunities that appear to be perfect matches, you’ll wish to point your finger on what clothed wrong.
Schofield states that “Self-assessment and an understanding of organizational culture and cultural fit can help us recognize the explanations why previous applications or positions might not have figured out .”
NARROWING DOWN ON YOUR JOB/CAREER OPTIONS BECOMES POSSIBLE:Try to not consider the foremost generic factors about the job/career, e.g. regardless of whether it’s the right pay grade, prospects and site . These are extremely critical factors to think about , however numerous positions fit these fundamental, practical criteria.
Do you incline towards a more organized environment with hands-on guidance, or an adaptable one where initiative is awarded? Is it more vital to possess a supportive, friendly team of work-mates , or the prospect to fill in as independently as would be prudent?
Your persona will direct your responses to those questions. Schofield describes, “When you cut down the choices , it allows you to specialise in quality over quantity – a smaller number of more tailored applications with a better probability of success.”
YOU WOULD KEEP SURPRISES AT BAY:Organizations know the value of deciding on a poor hiring decision, and that they are progressively attempting to differentiate and parse individual differences and sync with cultural fit. While not all organizations incorporate a personality evaluation as a neighborhood of the appliance , it isn’t bizarre for potential and current employers to anticipate applicants and current will finish some sort of psychometric test. This is what Schofield has to say.
On the off chance that you comprehend the information and procedures engaged with psychometric assessments, you’ll have a head start on replying to difficult questions and mollify concerns employers may have about your fit. The most ideal approach to try to to this is often to require self-evaluation tests yourself so you’ll be all around informed and prepared .
These were a couple of inputs with regards to your personality and the way wouldn’t it help to land employment .

DEPRESSION…a serial killer !

Why do we wait for something big and devastating to happen that opens our up eyes for issues that are serious and should be taken care of ?

Recently with the famous actor Shushant Singh Rajput passing away, as he committed suicide shook the whole nation about how a person who was so happy, excelling in his career, what made him take such a step? Suddenly I see whole of the social media getting flooded with things on mental illness, depression , anxiety , importance of it and so on .….

This issue isn’t something new that has born recently. It has always been a serious issue which all of us in some way or the other have neglected. There are plenty of people out there who have, and who are still suffering from mental disorders severely and some acutely. Mental health is something we all need to take care of.

MENTAL ILLNESS AND DEPRESSION

Clinical depression has been linked to other mental illnesses, such as anxiety disorders, panic disorder, social phobia, and generalized anxiety disorder.

MY EPIPHANY…

Depression is debilitating.

Some people acknowledge it, some think it’s an attention call. For me, depression is like that bundle of laundry that you don’t want to show in your Instagram pictures. I never want to show my heap of laundry to the world, I want my life to seem content and put together, as if I folded and put away all my laundry right out of the dryer.

Depression can be the hardest when others just don’t understand you. Never ask anybody how they can be so sad that they could contemplate suicide. Because honestly most of the people in that situition don’t know. How did they make it to this moment? What did they do to deserve this sorrow?

Nobody really knows how to explain depression to someone. It’s so different for everyone and comes in so many different forms. Some people explains their depression as a weight that holds them down. Others describe it as a shadow that looms in the back of their mind, always taunting and trying to tear them down and then sometimes, depression is described like they are sinking. It’s like dabbling in an ocean of poison and barely catching your breath before you’re dragged back under. I don’t think people understand that depression is persistent. Some days it doesn’t feel as burdensome, it doesn’t tug and pull as hard. And other days, it knocks you down before you can even get out of bed.

I am always fighting this constant battle with myself past many years .. Yes! Me I may smile and laugh and seem happy, but know that, somewhere, in the back of my mind I’m struggling. It makes me feel like a failure, no matter what my successes. I feel worthless and like I’m a burden on everyone around me. After entering my teenage years till now I’ve been aggressive, argumentative used to reacting quickly on situations without understanding them, used to getting upset on small little things and have been called dramatic. It has become one of my biggest triggers, because most of my life I haven’t had that fight to defend it.

I get sad without any reason so often that I’ve created safe spaces. Currently, my safe place is my bathroom floor. Probably about at least 1 time in a month you can find me locked in my bathroom on the floor, crying. The lock on that door is the only form of power I feel I have when I feel everything is parting away.
Many times I have found myself on that bathroom floor contemplating life and how to make it past that very moment, will I? I have to say how thankful I am that I haven’t followed through. Life is so hard. Sprinkle on some depression, heck, dump it on – and life is now even more hard. Sometimes the low gets so low that it seems to take over, overwhelming you in a way that you could not have imagined beforehand.

Dressed from Penny to Gucci it’s a misconception that smile is the finishing touch to most outfits. We all give off the impressions that we are happy but this can be a very inaccurate representation of what we are actually experiencing.
People always say you should talk to someone, tell someone, but how do you put words on something so hard to even understand yourself? How do u explain someone that u want to live your life in peace but also you don’t know how you can? How do u explain that this no longer feels like a choice, that it controls you not the other way around.

Of course we are encouraged to TALK more these days but some of us including me wont even know where to start. some of us will Feel like we don’t have anyone to talk to and others will simply be sick of talking. Sometimes we do so much talking and thinking about whats going in our heads that we get even more confused by our own thoughts. This often leads us to say ‘ENOUGH’ and once again putting back on the brave face and deluding smile. By this we fail to get to the roots of our suffering. I am guilty of smiling so many times when I am actually freaking out from inside.
Why is it so hard to accept our own sufferings ? Well its not facile to accept your suffering because of thoughts in your head and ultimately your ego believes that you shouldn’t be suffering. That makes suffering and challenges we experience in life so much more daunting, arduous and scary.

Depression doesn’t have a face. you never know who is the girl around you always happy and cheerful must be struggling from inside or the boy who shows himself so tough maybe he needs someone to listen to him or be there for him. Nobody really knows how much the other person is hurt. We could really be beside someone who’s world is falling apart and we wouldn’t even know.

THE BIGGEST MISCONCEPTION OF THOSE WHO ARE SUICIDAL

People who believe those are suicidal are selfish- that they only think about themselves and not their loved ones. This is wrong ….. often those who are suicidal truly believe their loved are better off without them because they are such a burden.

Ergo, its important to be kind and tell others how much they mean to you even on their bad days. Often, people tend to not give enough importance to the person who’s suffering from mental issues and rather than giving a smile or telling the person that ‘they understand’, ‘they’re listening’ and that ‘they are there for the person’ they slightly bob their head, as if they understood yet they don’t.

There are people who often say that we can talk to them and they are always there, but when the time comes and we actually need help , they tell us to help our selves or often come to the conclusion that ‘we are in the problem because of our own wrong doings’.This far more worsens the situation for the person going through it. We are nobody to judge which  problem is big or small because we all are different and feel different emotions.

I HOPE YOU CHECK UP ON PEOPLE OFTEN EVEN IF THEY HAVE A BRIGHT SMILE, BECAUSE OFTEN BEHIND THAT BRIGHT SMILE THEY MIGHT BE FIGHTING THEIR OWN HIDDEN BATTLES.

Whenever someone says you have hurt them, don’t shut them out. You don’t get to decide if u have hurt them or not. Don’t make them feel like a fool for expressing their feelings. Don’t always be self-righteous and think you can never make a mistake. If knowingly or unknowingly your actions hurt someone, avoid doing it. You can save someone just by being kind and being there for them.

WHAT TO SAY :

  • You are not alone in this
  • You are important to me
  • You have me! And prove them not just saying it for heck of saying
  • I am not going to leave in your tough times
  • Tell them you care for them and what worth they hold
  • Tell them you understand ( only if you really do)
  • Assure them they are not weak or defective
  • Emphasize that there’s hope

It’s possible that you can say all the “correct” things and your friend will still become upset with you. Each individual have their own unique thoughts and feelings, and being irritated and upset is the nature of depression. Sometimes people will take it out on those trying to help them because they are hurting and don’t know where to direct those bad feelings. Whoever is nearby becomes a convenient target. If this happens, try not to take it personally. Stay serene and continue to do what you can to love and support your friend in whatever way they will allow.

WHAT NOT TO SAY :

Avoid saying such phrases

  • Don’t think about it
  • Be positive
  • I know how you feel – never say this because nobody really knows how the other person feels or is going through
  • Count your blessings
  • Your mood is bringing everyone down around you
  • Just smile and let it go
  • Its all in your head
  • No one ever said life was fair

Many people with depression think they are just feeling sad, and that it will go away with time. For some people, it does just that. But for 15 million others, depression is a constant feeling that does not go away on its own. In fact, WHO found that depression is the second greatest reason for disability in the world.

I know everyone out there may not have depression, but everyone definitely have something hard they’ve experienced, everyone have something to share and everyone have something to relate to. We are nobody to judge someone else’s problem no matter how big or small it is. Well small issues only take a bigger step and why wait for that oblivious stage to come, why not lend a hand in the initial stages.

Let’s be vocal about our hard times, it’s healing, not embarrassing.

WE SHOULDN’T IGNORE WHAT IS HAPPENING IN OUR HEAD BECAUSE  ITS WHERE ALL OUR HOPES AND DREAMS LIVE.

SOCIAL MEDIA:A BOON OR A BANE FOR SOCIETY AND INDIVIDUALS!
