Yoga

Yoga is also equally important to be mentally calm. Practicing 15 minutes of yoga is so beneficial. All the asanas helps to get stronger muscles with the fitter body and good lifestyle with mental calmness. Yoga relives from the stress and tension we have had. Sparing at least 10 to 15 minutes time on yoga benefit is a lot. It relaxes the muscle and calms the mind. It helps to be physically fit and mentally strong. All the asanas and pranayama helps to Gain strength and to be physically fit.

It helps to be fitter and healthier. It helps to have a healthy lifestyle. Exercise helps to have healthy muscles and it also helps in weight loss who is suffering from obesity and excessive weight. Exercise is the healthy habit that must be added in the healthy lifestyle and must be practiced without any delay.

Exercising, meditation, yoga etc. are great things to regain the strength and to be fitter and also happy.

Types of yoga :

Bhakti yoga :

Bhakti yoga, also called Bhakti marga, is a spiritual path or spiritual practice within Hinduism focused on loving devotion towards any personal deity. It is one of the three paths in Hinduism which lead to moksha, the other paths being jnana yoga and karma yoga. The tradition has ancient roots.

The purpose of bhakti yoga is the practitioners of Bhakti yoga ,known as bhaktas, or loving devotees, express their religious devotion through prayer, ritual, and chanting. Their purpose is to develop feelings of unconditional love and devotion

Karma yoga :

Karma yoga, also called karma marga, is one of the three spiritual paths in Hinduism, one based on the “yoga of action”, the others being jnana yoga and Bakti yoga.

Patanjali Ashtanga yoga :

The eight limbs of of yoga is patanjali’s classification of classical yoga, as set out in his yoga sutras. He defined the eight limbs as yamas (abstinences), niyama ( observances), asana ( postures), pranayama (breathing) , pratyahara ( withdrawal), dharana ( concentration), dhyana (meditation), and samadhi( absorption).

The eight limbs form a sequence from the outer to the inner. Postures, important, in modern yoga as exercise, form one limb of patanjalis scheme; he states only that they must be steady and comfortable.

Jnana yoga :

Jnana yoga , also known as jnana marga, is one of the three spiritual paths in Hinduism, which emphasizes the ” path of knowledge”, also known as the ” path of self- realization”. It is one of the three classical paths for moksha. The other two are karma yoga and bhakti yoga.

Swara yoga :

Swara yoga is an ancinet tantric science which involves the systematic study of the breath flow thriugh the nostrils irrelation to the prevalling phases of the moon, time of day and direction. Mainly practiced through the connection of breath and movement, swara yoga creates levels of harmoney that are difficult to reach with other yoga styles. Our main tool is the movement and flow of body through the postures, guided by the breath.

Raja yoga :

In sanskrit, Raja yoga was both the goal of yoga and a method to attain it. The term also became a modern name for the practice of yoga in the 19th century when swami vivekananda gave his interpretation of the yoga sutras of patanjali in his book raja yoga

Kriya yoga :

Kriya yoga is a simple, psycho – physiological method by which the human blood is decarbonized and recharged with oxygen. The atmos of this extra oxygen are transmuted into life current to rejuvenate the brain and spinal centers.

Advanatges of yoga :

* yoga improves strength, balance and flexibility.

* yoga helps with back pain relief.

* yoga benefits heart health.

* yoga relaxes you, to help you sleep better.

* yoga can mean more energy and brighter moods.

* yoga helps you manage stress.

Disadvanatages of yoga :

* yoga may induce your blood pressure.

* phsical dangers of yoga

* Risk of strike.

* Hot yoga is not for eveyone.

* lack of experience or knowledge is risky.

THE EPIDEMIC OF LONELINESS

As per psychologists, the corona virus pandemic has hit us very hard and triggered a sort of loneliness epidemic.

LONELINESS:

Loneliness is described as social pain. It is an universal emotion and can be complex and unique to every individual. It is described as a state of solitude or being alone. According to experts, loneliness is not necessarily about being alone. Instead, if you feel alone and isolated, then that is how loneliness plays into your state of mind.

Experts believe that its not about quantity of social interaction that combats loneliness, but it’s the QUALITY

Rates of anxiety and depression are high among young people. Stress , anxiety, depression and loneliness are interconnected and can fuel up each other. In this era, people really want to be social. That’s how our system is build but its harder in this pandemic.

STUDY OF LONELINESS:

New Harvest research suggest that the isolation feeling hits the hardest on older teens and young adults. In a recent study conducted by researchers at Making Caring Common 36 % of approximately 950 Americans are found prey to loneliness. And the most risking part is that 61% of those are aged between 18 to 25. “I was surprised at the degree of loneliness among young people “, quoted Richard Weissbourd, a psychologist and senior lecture at Harvard Graduate School Of Education. He added, “If every person who’s in pretty good shape can make a commitment to reaching out to one person they are concerned might be lonely once a week, that would be a good thing”.

RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH LONELINESS:

The main risk associated with loneliness is DEPRESSION AND SUICIDE. Apart from these there are high risks of Alcoholism and drug use. Cardiovascular disease and stroke. Decreased memory and learning. Poor decision-making.

LONELINESS CAN BE CONTAGIOUS:

Study suggests that loneliness can be contagious. In a 10-year study, researchers examined how loneliness spreads in social networks. The results indicated that people close to someone experiencing loneliness were 52% more likely to become lonely as well.

OVERCOME LONELINESS:

Loneliness can be overcome but it needs continuous effort from the person suffering from it. First recognize that loneliness is sign and something needs to be change. Understand the effects of loneliness and try to study about it. Seek help from people who you truly believe and can share the issue without any hesitation.

Connection is really important to your emotional health, and it’s really important to your physical health as well. Stay connected and overcome loneliness.

“If you don’t kill it, it will kill you”!!

Sound is a symptom of life. The existence of life is felt and perceived through the presence of sound. But loud and shrill sound creates a cacophony instead of a symphony. Of late, sound pollution has reached an alarming stage in human life. It is chasing us in almost every step of life. In schools, colleges, offices, and even in hospitals we often hear an explosion of deafening sound. The quietness of our life has totally vanished. Even within our homes sound has been chasing us. Many are the causes of this problem of sound pollution. Microphones blare out day in and day out. Film songs are played on cassette recorders at top volume even from wayside betel shops! There are the aggressive bullying horns of automobiles. During social and religious festivals, crackers are burst indiscriminately and, as a result, the lives of the children and the aged persons as well as the examinees become miserable. Shouting of slogans also contributes to sound pollution. One can even hear slogans shouting in a closed rooms or silent places like hospitals! Th extent of sound pollution has already crossed the normal limits of human endurance. We must pass strict laws to take effective steps against the misuse of microphones. People must be made aware of the danger of sound pollution. It is dangerous for patient suffering from heart diseases. In many cases it is also responsible for deafness and psychologist imbalance. Of late, judicial bodies are taking steps to control the sound pollution. However, everyone must cultivate the virtues of quietness in domestic as well as in public life.

The Pomodoro Technique

We all have trouble concentrating in our lives. Many of us have to sit and study/work for hours on end, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic which locked everyone inside their homes. However, most of us find it very hard to concentrate very long on our work or studies, and we lose focus or start procrastinating after a short while. The result of this is that we complete minimal work, and end up being unproductive for most of the day because of our loss of concentration. However, there is one simple method, called the Pomodoro Technique, which helps improve productivity and focus.

What is it?

The Pomodoro method is very simple. It requires you to work/study for 25 minutes, and then take a 5-minute break. The reason this method works is also simple: evolutionary biology. The human brain is not designed to focus for extended periods of time on singular task, and is made to consider many different things in our lives. This is a result of survival instincts that have developed within us. To protect us from looming threats, the brain is in a constant state of alertness. This makes focusing on one thing for a long time very hard for your brain. So, adhering to this basic instinct, the Pomodoro method makes it possible for us to work in short bursts of time with full concentration, and then take a few minutes to relax or focus on something else so as to not tire ourselves out. This can be repeated for hours on end and helps retain focus, especially if studying for an exam or completing some work.

Also, this technique has been known to increase the quality of your work. When you take a break, you force yourself to take a few seconds to revaluate and rethink certain things. Sometimes, you find that you have to adjust your work to increase the quality of it. In contrast, when you work on a task without a break, it is easy to lose focus and get lost in the work. That is why the 5-minute breaks are equally important as the 25 minutes of work. You must take your breaks seriously and see them as a reward.

What makes it effective?

  • It makes it easy to get your work started: We may often find it uncomfortable to start a big task or project, and try to avoid doing it as much as possible until the last minute. The most effective way to break out of this avoidance cycle is to just simply start the work, even if it is with a small step. This procrastination-busting strategy is exactly what the Pomodoro technique asks you to do: break down your big tasks or projects into something you only have to do for the next 25 minutes.
  • Helps combat distractions: As mentioned earlier, it very easy to get distracted while doing your work and most of us can’t focus on the task at hand for long periods of time continuously. The Pomodoro Technique helps you resist all of those self-interruptions and re-train your brains to focus.
  • Makes us more aware of time: When most of us are planning out our work, we usually underestimate the time needed to complete the tasks, even when we know similar tasks have taken longer in the past. The Pomodoro technique can be a valuable weapon against this problem, as working in short, timed sessions is not an abstract concept but a concrete event that helps keep track of the time.
  • It is easy to do: The Pomodoro technique is an accessible technique for everyone as it is more about consistency than perfection. Each session is a fresh start to revaluate your goals, challenge yourself to focus, and limit distractions. You can make the system work for you.

Hence, in case you are having trouble with staying focused and productive, give the Pomodoro technique a try to see if it helps you, just as it as helps so many people.

Desertification and it’s impact

Desertification, an intentionally foreboding term, is at its core land degradation in dryland
environments. After nearly 40 years of international attention, the analysis of the causes and
consequences of land degradation in dryland systems remains shrouded in the nuanced
complexities of multiple interwoven variables (biophysical, anthropogenic, and climatic) working
simultaneously to bring about change in these ecologically and socially vulnerable areas. In order
to fully grasp the complexities of desertification, this chapter follows a fivefold approach. First, it
provides a synthesis of the history and politicization of the term. Second, it establishes
desertification’s geospatial context. Third, it identifies the interrelated drivers of land degradation
and their impacts, with special focus placed on North Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia.
Fourth, it outlines the current approaches to studying land degradation and desertification. Finally,
it concludes by situating the desertification dynamic in the context of sustainability and poverty eradication.

Introduction :-

Desertification is defined as a process of land degradation in arid, semi-arid and sub-humid areas
due to various factors including climatic variations and human activities. Or, to put it in another
way, desertification results in persistent degradation of dryland and fragile ecosystems due to
man-made activities and variations in climate.
Desertification, in short, is when land that was of another type of biome turns into a desert biome
because of changes of all sorts. A huge issue that many countries have is the fact that there are
large pockets of land that are going through a process that is known as desertification.
Overgrazing is the major cause of desertification worldwide. Other factors that cause
desertification include urbanization, climate change, overuse of groundwater, deforestation,
natural disasters, and tillage practices in agriculture that make soils more vulnerable to wind.
Desertification affects topsoil, groundwater reserves, surface runoff, human, animal, and plant
populations. Water scarcity in drylands limits the production of wood, crops, forage, and other
services that ecosystems provide to our community. According to UNESCO, one-third of
world’s land surface is threatened by desertification, and across the world, it affects the
livelihood of millions of people who depend on the benefits of ecosystems that drylands provide.
Desertification is another major environmental concern and a significant barrier to meeting basic
human needs in drylands and is being constantly threatened by increases in human pressures and
climatic variability.
It is caused by a variety of factors, such as climate change and human activities. Desertification
is a significant global ecological and environmental problem.”
Through my project, we’re going to give you an idea as to what are the causes of desertification,
the effects that desertification has, and what we can do in order to deal with the problem at hand.

CAUSES OF DESERTIFICATION :

1. Population Growth :- The population in some desert areas is increasing. In places where
there are developments in mining and tourism, people are attracted by jobs. An increased population is putting greater pressure on the environment for resources such as wood and water.

2. Removal of wood – In developing countries, people use wood for cooking. As the population in desert areas increases, there is a greater need for fuel wood. When the land is cleared of trees, the roots of the trees no longer hold the soil together so it is more vulnerable to soil erosion.

3.Overgrazing – An increasing population results in larger desert areas being farmed. Sheep, cattle and goats are overgrazing the vegetation. This leaves the soil exposed to.

4. Soil erosion – This is made worse by
overgrazing and the removal of wood.
Population growth is the primary cause for soil erosion.

5. Deforestation-When people are looking to move into an area, or they need trees in order to make houses and do other tasks, then they are contributing to the problems related to desertification. Without the plants (especially the trees) around, the rest of the biome cannot thrive.

6. Climate change – The global climate is getting warmer. In desert regions conditions are not only getting warmer but drier too. On average there is less rain now in desert regions than there was 50 years ago.

7. Over drafting of groundwater- Groundwater is the freshwater found underground and also one of the largest water sources. Over drafting is the process in which groundwater is extracted in excess of the equilibrium yield of the aquifer that is pumping or theexcessive pulling up of groundwater from underground aquifers. Its depletion causes desertification.

Devastating Effects of Desertification
:-

1. Farming becomes next to impossible-If an area becomes a desert, then it’s almost impossible to grow substantial crops there without special technologies. This can cost a lot of money to try and do, so many farmers will have to sell their land and leave the desert areas.

2. Decrease in Crop Yields-A major effect of desertification is the decrease in crop yields. Once land turns from arable to arid, it is often on longer suitable for farming purposes anymore. If their land becomes arid, they may no longer be able to provide sufficient crop yields to make a living out of it.

3. Flooding- Without plant life in an area, flooding is a lot more imminent. Not all deserts are dry; those that are wet could experience a lot of flooding because there is nothing to stop the water from gathering and going all over the place. Flooding can also negatively affect the water supply, which we will discuss next.

4. Poor Water Quality-If an area becomes a desert, the water quality is going to become a lot worse than it would have been otherwise. This is because plant life plays a significant role in keeping the water clean and clear; without its presence, it becomes a lot more difficult for you to be able to do that.

5. Biodiversity Loss- In general, the destruction of habitats and desertification may also
contribute to a loss of biodiversity. While some species may be able to adjust to the
altered environmental conditions properly, many species will not be able to do so and may suffer from serious declines in population.

6. Destruction of Habitats-Desertification often leads to a loss of habitats for many
animals and plants. Desertification may alter the living conditions of the local flora and fauna that makes it impossible for animals and plants to sustain their populations.

7. Overpopulation-When areas start to become desert, animals and people will go to other areas where they can actually thrive. This causes crowding and overpopulation, which
will, in the long run, end up continuing the cycle of desertification that started this whole thing anyway.

Desertification Is Increasing Because of Global Warming :-

Desertification is a phenomenon that is increasingly understood by scientists. While high
temperatures and droughts prevent plants from growing, arid soils aren’t as good at retaining
water. Human activity (agricultural overexploitation, soil artificialization, deforestation)
contributes to this phenomenon by destroying the environment.
It also leads to biodiversity losses locally, which further accelerates desertification -a positive
(though negative) feedback loop. Desertification also causes the carbon stored in the soil and
plants to be released, which in turn contributes to global warming. These vicious circles are now
well-identified in the scientific community and they are increasingly taking place across the
globe.
But recent studies give us a more precise idea of the speed and extent of these desertification caused changes and how they’re related to global warming. According to a study published in
early January 2018, global warming is helping to accelerate desertification and between 24% and
32% of the globe’s land area could be affected by 2050.

Soil Hydrology of Desertification and Rehabilitation :-

Desertification dramatically alters the hydrology of the degraded soil surfaces. Decertified surfaces are either rocky surfaces or exposed crusted soils with very low water infiltration capacity; water immediately runs off at high speed, causing further soil erosion. Remaining humidity in exposed soils rapidly evaporates in the intensive sunlight, so that resulting biological productivity is a fraction of that of restored ecosystems. In intact or restored ecosystems, large amounts of water can infiltrate through layers of plant litter into rich topsoil, whereby decomposing litter releases the nutrients required for vigorous plant growth Shade provided by perennial plants and plant litter layers also reduces soil surface temperatures and, consequently, evaporation, so that most precipitation becomes available to plants, resulting in water use efficiency.

PSYCHOLOGY FACTS THAT WILL ASTOUND YOU

As we all know the fact that the human psyche is immensely complicated so fresh research that sheds light on why we are the way we are is published every day. Now, Have you ever pondered why you feel or act the way you do? The answer of this question is that the way you are and what you do are largely determined by how your mind works. So human brain is really important without which it’s difficult to survive. Isn’t It remarkable how, at some level, every ‘unique’ mind works the same way?

Here are psychological truths that explain human nature and provide a clear explanation of why things happen to us the way they do, as well as our reactions to them. These mind-blowing psychological truths explain everything about how you act or how you feel the way you do.

  1. Various Research have been conducted which prove that if you make your objectives public, you are less likely to achieve them because you lose motivation to do that.
  2. Our plan A is less likely to succeed if we have a backup plan. Researchers discovered that when volunteers considered a backup plan before beginning a job, they performed worse than those who had not. Furthermore, as students understood they had alternatives, their desire to achieve the first time around dwindled. The researchers emphasize that planning ahead is beneficial, but you may be more effective if your intentions are unclear.
  3. When you go to sleep, the last person on your thoughts is either the source of your happiness or your anguish.
  4. If we’re not in danger, fear might feel pleasant. You receive all the adrenaline, endorphins, and dopamine from a fight-or-flight reaction while you’re watching a terrifying movie or going through a haunted house, but no matter how terrified you are, your brain knows that you’re not actually in danger—so you relax.
  5. Your mind rewrites dull people’s repetitive speeches to make them sound fascinating.
  6. We might be able to bond by “catching” a yawn. Isn’t it sound interesting? Well, Even if you aren’t weary, why do you yawn when someone else does? One of the most popular explanations for why yawning is contagious is that it demonstrates empathy. People who are less inclined to express empathy—for example, toddlers who haven’t yet mastered it are more likely to yawn when seeing the reaction of someone else.
  7. While money may purchase pleasure to some extent, studies suggest that after Rs 49 lakhs per year, more money does nothing to improve contentment.
  8. We want to squeeze cute things for a purpose. When we’re overwhelmed with positive feelings, such when staring at an unbelievably adorable young animal, a little bit of aggressiveness helps us balance off that high, Cuteness aggression is what it’s called, and individuals who have it don’t actually want to destroy that lovely puppy.
  9. We believe that the future is promising. Whether you like where you are now or not, according to study published in Current Biology, most of us have a “optimism bias” that convinces us that the future will be better than the present. We imagine ourselves progressing in our jobs, never getting divorced, raising little angels, and living to a ripe old age. It’s possible that not all of them are feasible.
  10. Smarter individuals have a tendency to underestimate their own abilities. People who are ignorant believe they are clever.

Population control bill in uttarpradesh

On World Population Day, Uttar Pradesh government announced a new population policy for 2021-2030 on Sunday. The new policy gives incentives to those who help in population control.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath wishes for a community-centric approach to be adopted for population control in uttarpradesh. So that better facilities can be made available to citizens and the state can be developed properly.

“Poverty and illiteracy are major factors for population expansion. There is also a lack of awareness about population in certain communities and we therefore need community-centric awareness efforts,” yogi Adityanath said in a statement.

Uttar Pradesh’s total fertility rate is 2.7 percent currently, it ideally should be less than 2.1 percent. Most states have achieved the ideal total fertility rate, except Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

With this policy, the government has come up with different strategies to work towards a convergence of existing schemes for population control and improvement in health of citizens.

New population policy is to reduce the newborns’ and maternal mortality rate.Care of the elderly, and better management of education, health, and nutrition of adolescents between 11 to 19 years has also been ensured in the policy, according to the state government.

The Uttar Pradesh government will give promotions, increments, concessions in housing schemes and others perks to employees who adhere to population control norms, and have two or less children. If people won’t obey this policy then they will not get any benefits from government, like jobs, ration, etc.

Three Sources of Negative thought

YOU CANNOT HAVE A POSTIEVE LIFE WITH NEGATIVE MIND . SO TURN ALL THE NEGATIVE THOUGHTS INTO POSITEVE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN

BK SHIVANI

We all have days when negative or self-centered thoughts enter our mind. It’s normal. However, what we do with them is another matter.

I’m one of those people who gets a bad idea in my mind and stays there for a few business days. I worry too much about them all the time, think too much and analyze too much. Why did I have such a thought? Where did it come from? What does it mean? How can I prevent myself from going to that dark place again? How can I control my thoughts?

How long can a person stay without food? 2 days, 5 days? How can they support themselves without sleep or water? How many days? They can only stretch for a few days. After that, it will start to affect our bodies. Similarly, how many days can we live with fear, anxiety, and negative thoughts? If we do not fix it now, it will begin to affect our minds.

Let’s not make emotional scars. When we are affected, it will affect our families and loved ones and that is not what we want. Focus and focus on the foundation (mind). In order to make this foundation strong we must definitely give this one hour to us as well. Because when the mind is strong, our thoughts will be right and the right thoughts will bring happiness and health.

What are the sources of our thoughts? The source of our thoughts is created in our minds.

Here are three sources of negative thoughts: –

  1. THE SYSTEM OF OUR BELIEFS
Many of our thoughts and beliefs have a negative connotation. Distortion of the mind is much more common than we think. They can be the cause of mental disorders such as depression or anxiety. They can also cause relationship problems. It is important to begin by identifying our wrong attitudes. Once we have identified the distortions we often use, it becomes easier to deal with them.

2.PAST TRAUMA
Emotional and psychological trauma are the result of extreme stress that disrupts your sense of security, making you feel worthless in a dangerous world. Depression can leave you struggling with irritating emotions, memories, and worries that will not go away. It can leave you feeling numb, disconnected, and distrustful of others.

3.DIET
Our diet can affect our brain. Some foods can help us feel better. Mediterranean-style foods (high in vegetables, seafood, fresh herbs, garlic, olive oil, grains and whole grains) supplemented with fish oil can reduce symptoms of stress . Unhealthy foods reduce our ability to think.

It takes time to change your thinking from bad to good, especially if you have lived this way for the rest of your life and that is all you know. But with hard work, practice and patience, you can live a happy, happy and happy life. You just have to choose it. You have the power to change your life and your attitude toward it.

Happy Thinking!

The Disease Isn’t Over yet!

It’s almost been an year and a half since we have been caged in our homes for most of the time. Adults couldn’t go to their offices, children couldn’t go to their schools and coachings, ladies couldn’t go shopping. Holidays seemed useless and the urge to get out, breathe fresh air at mountains and beaches and enjoy the outside world, vacations again is like dream come true to every person in the country. Now as from the start of July after the relaxation in cases after second wave there’s a certain initiation towards beginning of offline schools and colleges along with offices and even openings of tourist places. In such situations the immense curiosity in each one of us to move out now is natural and common. But, the question is ‘In order to acquire our rights to freedom again’, should we forget our duties towards our nation and people around us. Was all the mourning for all the dead people across the country was a lie. And did we even really learn from mistakes done by us during the relaxation after first wave, which lead us to a more deadly return of a COVID wave. The answer can be seen in this picture below;

The Time to Face Together.

Under such critical circumstances for the whole world, it’s not only the duty of Government to protect the nation but also the responsibility of citizens to understand the situation and act accordingly to preserve themselves from this widespread killer disease.              However, From the start of July itself Indians aren’t found working wisely anymore. Even after so many guidelines, precaution measures and rules been provided to the people they have become careless as shown.                                     We need to understand that the relaxations done by government in travels are firstly for the needy people and then for us amd thereafter for little bit of casual movements here and there while considering the interest of individuals as well. All of us were and are crystal clear with the intensity of the conditions, and the country as a whole needs to deal with it with uttermost sincerity. There are still some states which are yet under high risks and high number of people are suffering regularly. Thousands are bearing the pain of loosing their loved ones. Still there are various alerts for another dangerous variants of virus coming up and the most risky part to be noticed i.e. the upcoming arrival of third Wave. The decision is upon us. Whether we want to enjoy much for a few days and get locked for next few months again or take precautions today and greet a goodbye to these cages and live freely again as soon as possible. Surely, Noone will like to choose Warmly welcoming and providing a home to the virus again over leading you way to a healthy normal life again.

FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES YET AGAIN!

A very well known fact is “Prevention is better than cure”. One should keep in mind that not all rules are meant to be hated. Some could really be very profitable to you too. Health should always be looked on to as the most important part of life and currently, it has to be your No. 1 priority. The officials are doing their part to keep you safe. Our Doctors are dying forgiving us live, standing like the most efficient soldiers in from of the battleground with one of the biggest emmemies of the world. Hemcex it is our duty to support them. And mainly. Support ourselves and rescue ourselves by following regulations as given by government like; Washing your hands thoroughly each time you return home, avoid going to crowdy places, staying at a distance from anyone, WEARING MASKS, etc. As given in the picture above.

Here are some more precaution methods to be safe:

Toxic Positivity in an age of Nowhere

Positivity is a fad all around the place. Instagram, Twitter, the daily newsletters and what not – all have only one single message to convey – stay positive. Is that a bad message now? Bad enough to have an article against it? Well, no. And well, yes.

Positivity is important. Being hopeful is important. They are important to have the strength to move on. They are important to have the strength to carry forth with what lies at hand. If a person loses hope, then there is seldom a lot that can be done. This idea is quite agreed upon by psychologists as well as general health experts. But then what does the topic of this article convey? Positivity is something that drives a person forward. Then there is a situation where positivity becomes the only emotion a person knows. And most of the human race would agree that they are pushed into this state. If any other emotion – sad, angry, aghast or tired – tries to come, the person is told to let go of it and stay positive, to try to be happy about what lies with him or her or them. This is toxic, say many psychologists. The person is forced to accept positivity even when he/she/they are trying to cry, trying to be angry or trying to express any other emotion.

Expression is very important for mental health. There is no tool as strong as expression for the human mind. That expression can be verbal, through music, art, dance or in any other physical or art form – as long as it does no harm to another being, that expression is good and, important.

Toxic positivity can lead to the locking of emotions, mental degeneracy or probably depression, anxiety and a host of other issues. Psychologists argue that no emotion is ever fully suppressed. Suppressing of emotions locks those emotions deep in the brain, only to come out stronger and probably more harmful in situations of trauma or a sudden exposure to a stimulating environment.

In the present, all of us are struck in a nowhere – a world of our own in our houses or offices or work spaces with limited human contact. This has statistically led to an increase in cases of extreme isolation, anxiety and depression and a host of other mental health problems. This is certainly not a time to be positive all the time. And certainly not a time to try to do something positive. The important thing is to strike the balance. Give all your emotions a moment. And yet, try to do something positive each day. It is alright if you cannot. The contentment is to understand that you tried.

Busting COVID-19 Myths

The world is undergoing profound changes unseen in a century because of the global pandemic. Ever since the outbreak of coronavirus, situations have changed drastically. The world has switched from outdoor normalcy to indoors, just as the tortoise draws its limbs within the shell in case of a potential threat. Everything is now being done online, be it meetings, conferences, classes, seminars, events, and whatnot! Virtual is a new reality.

With increased engagement in social media platforms, there has been an increase in the number of misinformation and false rumors being spread, particularly about the coronavirus. The only way to curb this is to know the facts about the virus. Moreover, Knowing the facts is also important because this will ensure that you do not fall prey to any such misinformation and also avoid being a potential spreader of the same. So, In this article, we will be dissecting some of the most common myths related to Covid-19 that are currently being circulated on social media and beyond.

Let us begin with a piece of brief information about Covid-19 and its origin.

The WHO states that  COVID-19 is a disease that is caused by a new virus called coronavirus or SARS-CoV-2.  The first reported instance of this new virus was on 31 December 2019, following a cluster of cases of ‘viral pneumonia in Wuhan, People’s Republic of China.
The World Health Organization (WHO) changed its classification of the situation from a public health emergency of international concern to a pandemic on March 11, 2020. Till date, the virus has cost more than four million of life globally and is increasing every minute.

Some of the most common myths related to Covid-19 are as follows :

The Virus Cannot Sustain In The Cold Weather

There is no such evidence or scientific reason for us to believe that coronavirus cannot survive in cold weather. Moreover, the normal human body maintains its temperature around 36.5°C to 37°C, regardless of external factors such as temperature or weather. The most effective way to protect yourself against the new coronavirus is by frequently cleaning your hands with an alcohol-based sanitizer or washing them with soap and water.

The Hot Climate Will Kill The Virus

This claim is baseless as several countries which are known for their hot and humid climate have reported COVID-19 cases and that too in bunches. COVID-19 can spread in any climate. It can be transmitted in all types of areas irrespective of the surrounding or tropical conditions. Be it a region of extremely hot weather or even humid conditions, the virus still has the potential to spread. The only way of prevention is by adopting protective measures such as frequently washing your hands. This will eliminate the possibility of the virus spreading in your locality.

Spraying Alcohol All Over Your Body Can Kill Coronavirus

This is yet another common misinterpretation of information. The novel coronavirus primarily infects any person by entering through the nose or mouth. Spraying, alcohol, or disinfectant such as hand sanitizers will neither kill the viruses that have already entered your body nor cure the disease. It is only that frequent washing of hands with these alcohol-based sanitizers, hand rubs, or soaps can prevent the germs from entering your nose, eyes, or mouth through infected hands.
In fact, spraying such substances can be even harmful to one’s health.

Alcohol Consumption Cures COVID-19 Infection

The WHO clearly mentioned that although alcohol can disinfect the skin but it does not show any such effect inside the body. There isn’t any such established evidence which can claim that drinking alcohol can cure COVID-19.

Moreover excessive or regular consumption of alcohol has the potential to increase the risk of health problems. Drinking alcohol is dangerous and can weaken your immune system thus reducing the ability to cope with infectious diseases. Ingestion of alcohol and because alcohol is associated with several other diseases, it may make people more vulnerable to COVID-19.

5G Helps In Spreading Coronavirus

Among all the myths this seems to be the most stupid one to believe at. With the technological advancements, some regions are rolling out 5G mobile technology which has raised a dispute among a few communities. Some people tend to believe that the 5G technology helps viruses to spread and communicate.  However, experts completely condemn this theory as it is entirely baseless.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) states that the claim that viruses such as the novel coronavirus can travel on mobile networks or radio waves is entirely false. Moreover, It has been found that the virus is spreading across countries that do not have the 5G technology or have very little 5G coverage such as Iran.

Being Able To Hold Your Breath For 20 Seconds Means You Don’t Have Coronavirus

There’s no way for you to tell whether or not you have the virus, at least without going through official medical testing. A post circulating around social media suggests that anyone who can hold a deep breath for more than 20 seconds without chest pain or tightness likely did not have coronavirus.

But the truth is that it’s possible to be infected and not show any symptoms at all. A person who looks and feels healthy, and can hold their breath without a problem could have the virus. The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are dry cough, tiredness, and fever. The best and only way to confirm if you have the virus-producing COVID-19 disease is with a laboratory test. You cannot confirm it with this kind of breathing exercise, which can even be dangerous and may lead you into trouble.

Everyone With COVID-19 Dies

Again this is another false claim. COVID-19 is fatal for a small percentage of people who develop the illness.
The WHO has reported that around 80% of people with COVID-19 experience a relative form of the illness and do not need special treatment in a hospital. Some of the commonly reported mild symptoms include a sore throat, cough, tiredness, fever, and sometimes shortness of breath. Most treated persons have recovered and have eliminated COVID-19 from their bodies.

Also, many people with the underlying infection experience very little or no symptoms at all.
Hence, It will be completely inappropriate to conclude that everyone with this disease dies or is seriously affected.

However, you must seek medical attention as soon as you realize you have COVID-19 symptoms. Immediately call your local health facility and seek medical care at your earliest, if necessary.

India’s stand on population control

11 July is observed as world population day every year. It’s main focus is on the various problems arising due to surging population. Growing population is a major concern for developing countries and india is also having the same concerns. With population around 1.39 billion approximately India is inching towards overtaking china as most populous country.

China had adopted one child policy to control it’s growing population but due to demographical reasons it ended this policy in 2015. Aging population was the reason presented, but decline in fertility rate was another reason. China’s communist government is very strict in implementing it’s policies and citizens also abide by the rules.

India’s five year plans gave emphasis to population control. Ministry of health and family welfare covers the population control policy. Main strategy is to persuade people to accept the small family norm by way of various advertisment and educational efforts.

In 2019, ‘Population Control Bill’ was introduced into Rajya sabha and was signed by 125 MP’s. This bill was about imposing penalties for couples not adhering to the two-child policy.

Later, in 2020 ‘Constitution Amendment Bill’ was introduced into Lok sabha. It’s main objective was to amend the Article 47A of the Constitution of India. This amendment was to introduce a two-child policy per couple and provide incentives like tax, educational benefits etc.

Two-child policy in Indian states

States of Assam and Uttar Pradesh have initiated to bring in two-child policies, this will limit government benefits to people with only two children. people with more than two children are barred from contesting elections in Gujarat, Rajasthan,Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Few more States are eyeing to bring these type of policies in upcoming future for betterment of the citizens. Government and few NGO’s are working towards educating people about these policies. Task ahead is tough, but not impossible.

STRAWBERRY AND ITS ORIGIN

ORIGIN OF STRAWBERRY :

Strawberries have a very ancient origin and are considered to be born in France. The first variety cultivated dates back to the beginning of the eighteenth century. Commonly, the term strawberry means the edible part of the Fragaria vesca plant, but in reality, they are not real fruits, but the enlarged receptacle of an inflorescence. The real fruits are identified in the so-called “achenes’’, or better known as the yellow seeds on the surface of the strawberry. It originates from France basically.

The first variety cultivated dates back to the beginning of the eighteenth century. Its scientific name is Fragaria and derives from the Latin word fragrans (fragrant), just in virtue of the intense aroma released by its fruits, especially those that grow spontaneously in the woods. The strawberry is a member of the Rosaceae family and the most common varieties are hybrid of the wild Virginia strawberry and Chilean variety. The strawberries that we currently grow and eat come from the creation of a hybrid, a random cross between two American octoploid species of Fragaria. Until just over two centuries ago, in fact, the strawberries that were known were wild spontaneous species, wild strawberries that grew in many areas of the world.

HISTORY OF STRAWBERRY :

According to mythology, the strawberry was particularly loved by the Romans especially during the holidays dedicated to Adonis and is governed by the planet Venus. When Adonis was gored by a wild boar, the tears that Venus, the goddess of love had reached the earth, turned into small red heart-shaped fruits. During the Middle Ages, this fruit, in shape and colour, began to be called “heart fruit”, as food capable of appeasing the passions of love. Later, the strawberry became a symbol of fertility due to its many exterior seeds. The fruit looks so alluring in fact, that strawberries were carved into church altars and cathedral pillars in medieval times to represent perfection.

Strawberry represents perfection in the Victorian language of the flower. A double strawberry will bring you, love! Legend has it that by breaking a double strawberry in half and sharing it with another person, you will fall in love with each other. The French considered strawberry to be an aphrodisiac. They served strawberry soup to newly-weds. In parts of Bavaria, country folk still practise the annual rite each spring of tying small baskets of wild strawberries to the horns of their cattle as an offering to elves. It is believed that the elves, who are passionately fond of strawberries, will bless healthy calves and abundance of milk in return.

Until the sixteenth century, strawberries weren’t extremely regarded. Then some individuals began to attribute their therapeutic qualities: in keeping with a German intellectual, Crollius, the fruit may cure the infectious disease as it was absolutely similar in look to the symptom of the disease; for Della orifice (Italian thinker and alchemist) it absolutely was instead a remedy for wounds as a result of it absolutely was red like blood; lady Tallien created a lot of use of it between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, who used 10 kilos at a time to wash and maintain lovely skin. The ancient Romans believed that the berries alleviated symptoms of melancholy, fainting, all inflammations, fevers, throat infections, kidney stones, halitosis, attacks of gout, and diseases of the blood, liver and spleen.

History of Strawberry

Strawberry, (genus Fragaria), genus of more than 20 species of flowering plants in the rose family and their edible fruit. Strawberries are native to the temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere, and cultivated varieties are widely grown throughout the world. The fruits are rich in Vitamin C and are commonly eaten fresh as a dessert fruit, are used as a pastry or pie filling, and may be preserved in many ways. Strawberry shortcake—made of fresh strawberries, sponge cake, and whipped cream—is a traditional American dessert.

Strawberries are low-growing herbaceous plants with a fibrous root system and a crown from which arise basal leaves. The leaves  are compound, typically with three leaflets, sawtooth-edged, and usually hairy. The flowers, generally white, rarely reddish, are borne in small clusters on slender stalks arising, like the surface-creeping stems, from the axils of the leaves. As a plant ages, the root system becomes woody, and the “mother” crown sends out runners that touch ground and root, thus enlarging the plant vegetatively. Botanically, the strawberry fruit is considered an “accessory fruit” and is not a true berry. The flesh consists of the greatly enlarged flower receptacle and is embedded with the many true fruits, or achenes, which are popularly called seeds.

CULTIVATION AND PLANTING :

The cultivated large-fruited strawberry originated in Europe in the 18th century. Most countries developed their own varieties during the 19th century, and those are often specially suitable for the climate, day length, altitude, or type of production required in a particular region. Strawberries are produced commercially both for immediate Consumption and for processing as frozen, canned, or preserved berries or as juice. Given the perishable nature of the berries and the unlikelihood of mechanical picking, the fruit is generally grown near centres of consumption or processing and where sufficient labour is available. The berries are handpicked directly into small baskets and crated for marketing or put into trays for processing. Early crops can be produced under glass or plastic covering. Strawberries are very perishable and require cool dry storage.

The strawberry succeeds in a surprisingly wide range of soils and situations and, compared with other horticultural crops, has a low fertilizer requirement. It is, however, susceptible to drought and requires moisture-retaining soil or irrigation by furrow or sprinkler. Additionally, the plants are susceptible to nematodes and pathogenic soil fungi, and many growers sterilize the soil with chemicals such as methyl bromide prior to planting. Runner plants are planted in early autumn if a crop is required the next year. If planted in winter or spring, the plants are deblossomed to avoid a weakening crop the first year. Plants are usually retained for one to four years. Runners may be removed from the spaced plants, or a certain number may be allowed to form a matted row alongside the original parent plants. In areas with severe winters, plants are put out in the spring and protected during the following winters by covering the rows with straw or other mulches.

MAJOR SPECIES :

In addition to the dominant commercial variety (Fragaria ×ananassa), the musk, or hautbois, strawberry (F. moschata) is also cultivated in some areas for its unique musky aroma and flavour.

Wild strawberries grow in a variety of habitats, ranging from open woodlands and meadows to sand dunes and beaches. The woodland, or alpine, strawberry can be found throughout much of the Northern Hemisphere and bears small intensely flavourful fruits. Common North American species include the virginia wild strawberry and the beach, or coastal strawberry .

EXPORTS AND PROFIT :

With the onset of summer, strawberry plants are fast turning into proverbial money-tree in the UK and other countries, where the prices of the delicate fruit have started soaring, inducing many an Indian firm to grow more for exporting the commodity to these countries. It is learnt that at least three firms had applied for permission to import nearly 1.3 million plants of strawberry from Europe and the US for growing in India. However, the agriculture ministry has allowed only Delhi-based Sheel Biotech to import 600,000 tissue culture plants of strawberry and denied permission to Mizoram’s Zopar Exports and Delhi’s Dev Bhumi Cold Chain for want of dealer licence. The agri-business firms feel that by growing imported plants in Himachal Pradesh and in the North-east, the quality of the fruit can be improved because of climatic conditions.

THANK YOU !

How To Work Hard Without Burning Out

Do you ever feel that the demands of your job are too much? If so, that’s not a surprise. Modern-day life demands much of us as human beings.

That has been the case for decades. And often, those high demands result in burnout. Researchers have studied the phenomenon of burnout from the 70s. The results? It’s not good.

Research shows that high levels of burnout are associated with the following issues:

  • Anxiety.
  • Depression.
  • Sleep disturbance.
  • Memory impairment.
  • Neck pain.

And there’s more. Burnout increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
And there’s even more. But I think you get the point.

So it’s safe to say that working hard has a price. Personally, I’m very well aware of these risks. I’ve experienced stress because of high job demands in the past.

It doesn’t matter whether your manager has high demands, or whether you have high demands of yourself.

Both result in the same thing: You can’t deal with the daily demands, and that’s what will exhaust you.

How do you prevent that? Unfortunately, that answer is not straightforward. Scientific research only investigates cause and effect.

We know that high job demands increase the risk of burnout. But how can you keep up with the high demands of modern-day work, and not burnout?

I’ve found that there’s not a single answer to that question. No one can say: Do XYZ and you will never burnout.

It’s much better to know yourself, know your job, and understand one thing: Hard work is great, but not at all least.

I can’t give you a blueprint. But what I can do is share with you how I personally prevent burning out.

Over the last 1,5 years, I’ve been working 6 or 7 days a week. And in that period, I just went on one 10-day holiday. I also don’t feel like I need a holiday — a feeling that I had every six months in the past.

I’ve worked hard. Almost every day. But I’ve also managed to stay sane (most of the time). Here’s how I did it.

1. Love What You Do

Let’s get the cliché out of the way first. Work is a lot easier when you enjoy it. We all know what. But did you know that you can also learn to enjoy your current job?

You have two choices:

  1. Complain and say that you hate your crappy job.
  2. Make the best of it.

Sometimes we forget that we always have the ability to decide. If you hate your job, that’s your decision. Marcus Aurelius put it best:

“You have power over your mind — not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.”

But you can also choose to get better at what you do. And if that’s not possible, see it as a temporary place.

We’ve all had jobs that we didn’t like. Just deal with it and find something else. But in the meantime, you better enjoy what you do. If you search hard enough, you can always see the bright side of everything.

2. Don’t Overestimate Yourself

Some of us think we can handle everything that comes on our way.

“Do you want to take on this project?”
“I think you should go for this promotion.”
“Do you want to speak at our event?”

Yes, Yes, YES!

But here’s the thing: You’re not superman or superwoman.

Sometimes it’s time to say: No, no, NO.

3. Ask For Help

Hello there, your proud person, who never asks for help!

“I can do it on my own,” is probably your mantra.

Sure, you’re awesome and all. But no one can do it on their own. You need help. You need a support system. Don’t even think you can do it by yourself.

Reach out to colleagues, friends, managers, family, or any person you know. People will understand. And if they don’t, they are not your friends.

4. Don’t Feel Guilty

Do you feel the weight of the world on your shoulders? Do you feel like you’re responsible for your family, friends, employees, or other people? It’s time to lighten up.

First of all, people can take care of themselves — they don’t need you to be their hero. And second, what kind of leader, friend, spouse, are you if you burnout? Exactly.

5. What’s The Point?

Sometimes we do shit that doesn’t make any sense at all. So ask yourself that question. No good answer? Don’t do it.

I’m all about practicality. What does that mean? Here’s the definition:

“Mindful of the results, usefulness, advantages or disadvantages, etc., of action or procedure.”

The result is the only thing that matters.

6. You Can’t Have It All

I’ve come to terms with the fact that I can’t have everything I want. I can’t spend time with friends, family, work hard, go to the gym, travel, at the same time. Realistically, I have to pick one or two things to focus on.

Life is about making decisions. If you want to do things well, with all your attention, you have to make some sacrifices.

You only have limited time. You can’t buy more of it. So you have to spend it wisely. How will you spend it? Decide and stick with it. FOMO is for the delusional.

7. Exercise Every Day

Daily exercise reduces stress, anxiety, and improves your focus. “I know it.” Well, why don’t you do it then?

Since I’ve been running every day, I’ve gotten a lot better with dealing with stress. Daily exercise is a must. It’s simple: Just do it every day. No excuses.

8. CHILL

Honestly, it’s okay to do nothing sometimes. It’s only life. Who cares? It’s easy to take everything way too seriously.

  • “I need to make more money.”
  • “I need to get this promotion.”
  • “I need to buy a new car.”

Says who?

Also, do you get annoyed by everything? That’s not a good sign. In that case, you definitely should relax.

And realize that everyone is facing the same challenges. Life is not easy, you know. So don’t make it even harder by being such a serious person.

There you go. That’s my recipe for working hard and enjoying myself. I always remember that everything in life is only temporary. And if I don’t like my life, I change it.

What do I have to lose? Money? Reputation? Screw that. I don’t need it. You can always start over. What was that again? The journey is the reward? Yes.

MEANING OF FIRST AID

Safety First: Three Tips for Packing the Perfect First Aid Kit

Every individua ‘s life and work are closely related to his environment . Man has progressed in various fields of life such as industrialisation , mechanisation, transport and science, etc. Therefore, this age is called an electronic age or space age. But on the other hand, this development has created such conditions that a person may get injured anywhere and at anytime.

In spite of good measures aimed at industrial safety and the development of safety devices and techniques, the number of accidents is still high in industries and specially in day to day life. Indeed, there is no definite time of such injuries. These can happen to anyone, anywhere and at anytime. Injuries usually occur in industries and on the farm, during the repair, maintenance and operation of vehicles of various kinds, during games and sports and in various situations everyday. These often happen by accident, so it is impossible to anticipate the time and place of an accident. Someone may get fractured, another may be bitten by snake. So, it can be said that every individual is trapped in one way or the other by accidents. In fact, it is very difficult ton get medical aid to victims at the sport of the accident. At that moment, some immediate possible aid is required to the victim. So, first aid is the first help which is given to the wounded or accidental victims before the arrival of the doctor.

In other words, ” It is an immediate and temporary care given to a victim of an accident or sudden illness before the services of a physician is obtained.

In can also be said that first aid is that aid is that aid which is provided to the injured in case of an accident, injury or sudden illness. It enables the trained persons to render the help to preserve life, promote recovery of the injury until the arrival of the doctor.

In fact, the area of field of sports and games is such a field, where getting injured is very common. Any player can be injured at least once during his/her sports career. The facilities of a qualified doctor are available in national or international level competitions but usually such facilities or services of a doctor are not available during practice, training or competitions of normal levels. The teacher of health and physical education should also have enough knowledge of first aid so that he may provide first aid to the players at the time of training and competitions.
