MODERNIZATION IN AGRICULTURE

Everything we eat is sourced from nature. The plant kingdom has been generously providing us with nutritious and healthy foods to make a plethora of dishes. Earlier, historic people used to hunt animals or gather fruits and vegetables readily available in their living surroundings. These nomadic people moved places according to the availability of basic necessities. As humans started evolving, they realized that they could grow their own food by farming. Hence, people began staying static in settlements and farmed their own land. Agriculture later developed and advanced equipment were used for various farming processes. With time, these techniques were modified or replaced with newer ones which demanded lesser effort and yielded better output of production in return. This started revolutionizing traditional farming methods with more yield centric ones. Soon, farming as a livelihood turned into a booming production industry for an ever hungry world with rapidly growing population. Since almost all plant-based food was commercialized due to it being the starting material for many modern food industries, the agricultural sector came under a lot of pressure and focus for more and more food production to satisfy their needs. The quality of crops and fertility of land have reduced drastically with time, owing to continuous cultivation on the same land for numerous centuries and no opportunity for land replenishment. Extensive research was done to innovate and revamp agriculture into a mechanized and efficient process.

Today, farming practices have become highly advanced with a lot of machinery and equipment to lessen human efforts and errors. These methods check the box for sustainability too, doing lesser damage to crops as well as the environment. As a result of modern agricultural practices, the quality of produce has also improved. With the use of advanced technology, it has become possible to introduce certain desirable characteristics in a crop variety, and reduce or completely eliminate the shortcomings. This has been done with genetic manipulation/modification. To improve the aeration and air circulation of farming land and expose the useful soil bacteria to surrounding air, excessive tillage of land is done. Modern farming practices make use of fertilizers to increase the yield of crop. Earlier, synthetic fertilizers were used, but this led to leaching of harmful chemicals in the environment which had adverse effects on other components of nature. So, farmers were directed to make use of organic fertilizers which improved soil fertility as well as were environment-friendly. The use of better and well-planned irrigation technologies like sprinkle and drip irrigation have led to provision of adequate water to plants. These advanced irrigation methods make efficient use of water too. The use of pesticides has led to less crop damage by infestation, reducing invasion of vegetation through pests, and the result is healthful and productive plants. The practice of monocropping gradually lead to depletion of nutrients in the soil making it infertile. So, a lot of research has been done in this arena and recent studies have led to the practice of crop rotation, wherein a series of different types of crops are grown on the same land on a sequence of growing seasons. Usually, after cash crops are grown, leguminous plants are farmed on the same land to enhance soil fertility. This method restores the nutrient level of soil.

The agriculture area has witnessed a lot of modernization for good crop produce and environmental safety. Many more methods are being invented to make conventional farming mechanized, hassle free, environment friendly and sustainable. In the coming years, better use of the small portion of available land will be necessary to overcome shortage of agricultural land and highly developed techniques and technologies might provide the required push to agricultural practices.

TRANSFORMING COMMERCIAL FOOD THE HEALTHY WAY

Since social media has gained popularity and its use has become ubiquitous everywhere, it is quite obvious that trends and hashtags are in the boom. Communicating, comprehending and following are possible at the drop of a hat, and so when something new or revamped has reached people by the trend wave, it becomes massively famous – or rather say a cult following. A major trend that hit off in the recent years is the fitness and physique target, and we can see massive body transformations reeling all over social media pages. Well, many of them owe it to rigorous gym sessions, some to strict and controlled diet plans and some to major lifestyle changes (like healthy eating, sleep patterns, spirituality and sattvic living). Food manufacturing companies and big names in the market have also taken note of this and have put in substantial efforts and money into developing and refurbishing their product range to suit the requirements of the conscious consumer. These biggies have made major changes in their ingredient labels, nutritional charts and overall product composition, and supermarket shelves are now a healthier place for our grocery baskets and of course, our cravings. Most of these now-healthy products today promise a relishing, absolutely satisfying and guilt free eating experience, and they have truly made that transition to a commendable extent, if not the epitome of their sector.

Let us take an instance of companies selling instant noodles. A few years ago, this same product was on the frowny side of the healthiness scale, with maida as the major ingredient. But a lot of research and development efforts have led to the manufacturers opting for healthier and more nutritious grains like whole wheat and oats, with refined flour in minimal quantity or totally replaced. The frying process still remains similar to a great extent, but researchers are looking for a way to optimise the frying process too. Yet still, the frying process has been successfully replaced or highly modified in extruded snack products, wherein high pressure and temperature are applied rather than frying the product in oil and bringing its fat content to about 8-10%. These products contain minimal oil content in contrast to the conventional fried products, in which the fat content is about 25-30%. Extruded snacks have switched to blending better cereal meals too, like rice, corn and pulses. Fox nuts are emerging as a superfood product, with healthier processing options and high nutritional benefits. Whole wheat semolina is another everyday ingredient which has suited well to the requirements of the snacks segment. Oats have proven as a transformational and magical ingredient in many food items, with super health benefits and good blending properties with other cereals. With major inventios and developments in the food industry, many commercial products have changed their propositions from just ‘tasty’ to ‘healthy and tasty’, and have proved that not every healthy food item needs to taste obnoxious, rather quite the opposite of that. The sweets, bakery foods and confectionery section are going sugar-free and maida-free. They are cutting down or simply replacing empty calorie and unhealthy components and optimising preparation processes to make mouth-watering items, all similar in taste but with enhanced nutritional properties and adding sensible value to their consumption. Cakes and pastry items are switching to the goodness of components like better grains, sugar free options, natural sweeteners, dry fruits, minimal saturated fat ingredients. Frozen unsweetened yogurts are in great demand due to their gut-friendly composition and versatility in blinding with a large variety of fruits and flavours. Frozen dessert and ice cream makers are tilting towards sugar-free and low fat options. Biscuits and cookies are also transforming drastically into healthier versions of their original product formulations.

The products mentioned above are just the visible tip of a huge iceberg underneath the water surface. The way today’s food industry is remoulding itself will be greatly impactful in near and far future, and a range of products with sound taste and nutrition are in the line for a healthier diet and subsequently, a healthier tomorrow!

Drug Addiction

Drug Addiction has now become one of the major problem of our society, particularly in the urban areas. Sometimes frustration and sometimes temptation are the cause of this addiction. Many youngsters are falling victim’s of this deadly curse. As a result, possibilities of these young men and women society are being nipped in the bud. The dishonest traders operate underground, and the deadly narcotics and drug are smuggled into country. It is really surprising to note that these traders manage to thrive at the cost of precious lives and rosy possibilities to our young generation. Many of these drug addict crazy young men are tempted to continue these drugs. Once they take it, they are caught in a death trap. Slowly but surely they are led to death.

One thing that many of these dangers have in common is that they affect not only the user but also have a negative impact on those around them.

Physical dangers to the user include:

• Developing a tolerance to the drug.

• Withdrawal symptoms when trying to cut back or quit.

• Health problems, like irregular heart rate, high blood pressure, lung damage, and seizures.

• Injury, both accidental and self-inflicted.

• Overdose.

• Death.

Dangers can also have social, professional, or interpersonal consequences. These can include:

Becoming pregnant while using drugs and harming the fetus and newborn baby.

Jeopardizing relationships with friends and family.

Neglecting work and school responsibilities.

Involvement in criminal activity and a greater risk of being victimized by crime.

The exact cause of drug addiction is unknown; however, there are factors that may contribute to drug addiction:

An underlying mental disorder, like schizophrenia, post-traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD), depression or anxiety.

  • A low sense of self-worth.
  • Emotional distress due to personal, professional, or financial difficulties.
  • Exposure to an environment where drug use is accepted and drugs are readily available.
  • Peer pressure.
  • Genetics.

But we have a duty to fight against this dangerous enemy of our social life. The alarming nature of the problem must be highlighted and people must be made aware of this evil with the help of the mass media. Seminars should be organized in schools and colleges. In west Bengal an anti narcotic cell has been established in Lal bazar, Kolkata. Drug business is punishable and the highest punishment is death sentence in Bangladesh. But no government action can be fruitful unless it is backed by a strong public opinion, especially of the young generation.

Section 66A Of IT Act,still relevant ?

How does this act came into existence ?

Section 66A of the Information Technology Act (“IT Act”), 2000, came into existence through an amendment in 2008. This  section penalised sending “offensive messages” via online communication. provision was often misused by enforcement authorities and caused problems over freedom of speech on  internet.

Case of shreya singhal vs Union of India

Two girls were arrested in Mumbai over criticising the bandh in maharashtra over demise of shiv sena chief Bala sahib Thackeray in November 2012. One of them posted illegal content while another one simply liked it, both of them were booked under section 66A of IT ACT and section 295A of IPC.

Although, both of girls were released and charges were dropped but this act invited criticism from all over the country.
Shocked by misuse of law by the authorities, Shreya singhal filed an PIL in 2012 to declare section 66A of IT ACT 2000 as unconstitutional.

On March 24, 2015 the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India passed a landmark judgement in this matter. The Hon’ble Supreme Court  came out with judgement that Section 66A of the IT Act is arbitrarily and disproportionately affects the right to freedom of speech. Also, all the pending cases were directed to be dismissed and no fresh cases were to be registered under this scrapped section 66A of IT ACT.

Why is section 66A of IT Act in news in 2021 ?

Even, after this section was scrapped, many fresh cases were registered under this section of IT act. A plea was filed by PUCL ,it came into light that even after 7 years of the law being scrapped. total of 745 cases are still pending and active before the district courts in 11 states, under Section 66A of the IT Act. Supreme court have sent a notice to centre, demanding why this scrapped section is still in use and why not proper measures are taken till now.

GONCHA- JAGANNATH IN CHHATTISGARH

2021 marks the 614th year of a unique festival of chariots known as Goncha. It is specifically celebrated in the district of Bastar in Chhattisgarh state. This is just a variation of widely celebrated Rath Yatra in Puri. Goncha gets its name from dialect modulation of Gundicha- wife of the legendary King Indradyumna, who built the Puri Jagannatha temple.

There are many versions as to how the Bastar tribe started celebrating the festival. The King of Bastar, Maharaja Purushottam Dev visited Puri temple in 1408 on the occasion of Rathyatra known as ‘Gundicha’, which over time got converted to ‘Goncha’ in Bastar, Chhattisgarh. The king of Odisha gifted Maharaja Purushottam Dev, a 16-wheeled chariot, and gave him the title of ‘Rathadhipati’. 360 Aranyak Brahmin families from Odisha came to Bastar under the homage of Maharaja Purushottam Dev. These 360 families brought with them several idols of Lord Jagannath, Balbhadra and Subhadradevi to Bastar Chhattisgarh. 22 idols of Lord Jagannath, Balbhadra and Subhadradevi were consecrated in a single temple at Jagannath Temple in Jagdalpur.

Maharaja Purushottam Dev offered its 4 wheels to Lord Jagannath as homage and returned to Bastar with a 12-wheeled chariot. The 12 wheeled chariot was very heavy to pull so in 1810, it was separated into an eight wheeled and four wheeled chariots. The latter is called phool rath. From that time, the ritual of Rathayatra (chariot procession) during Goncha and Bastar Dussehra at Chhattisgarh got started. Bastar is the only place in Chhattisgarh where three chariots are made to carry 22 idols of Lord Jagannath, Balrama and Subhadra.

TUPKI

There are several customs associated with this Chhattisgarh Festival. The tribal people make a pistol using tukki or bamboo. It is a mock weapon that is constructed by them to follow the tradition of the tribe. The fruit pengu is used as a bullet. They use the pistol and the bullet, actually a bamboo stick cut in the shape of a pistol and a fruit to strike each other. Tupkis are used as Guard of Honour for Lord while in chariot procession. They are a source of unlimited joy for people. They find it very thrilling and exciting. Like Diwali, tukki sounds fill the atmosphere with fervor. The celebration of Festivals like these brings to the forefront the ethnicity of this part of the country.

Knowledge is Power

The English philosophy-essayist Francis Bacon rightly said, “knowledge itself is power”. Knowledge and power go together. You cannot think of power without knowledge. He who increases knowledge increases power. It is the only instrument of production and success which is not subject to diminishing returns. On the other hand ignorance is a curse and darkness. It brings superstitions, defeat, decadence, failures and frustration in its wake. Knowledge is enlightenment and light. It is freedom, liberation and realisation. Only a knowledgeable person can think big and high. For him nothing is impossible, no obstacle is great or insurmountable.

Knowledge makes you brave, bold, dashing and commanding. All great, successful and eminent persons in the history of the world have been very powerful. They have been so because they possessed the inexhaustible treasure of knowledge. There is no power so strong as knowledge and a person armed with knowledge and power cannot be stopped from achieving success and crowing glory in life. For him even the sky is not the limit. Knowledge lends self confidence, perseverance, hope, courage to face challenges, steadfastness and dedication to a purpose. God is god only because he is all knowledge. Knowledge reigns supreme and unchallenged.

It is knowledge which lends power to man to control and rule over forces of nature. Today the countries have come much closer to one another and the world has become a global village because of power of knowledge. Science, technology, success, advancement etc. are the other names and terms of knowledge. In the pre historic past man was ignorant, weak, helpless and puny. He lived in caves and jungles and suffered from many fatal diseases. He was never sure of food, security, shelter and safety because he had no knowledge and today he is most powerful creature. He is the master of all that he surveys. The moon is not beyond his reach nor the knowledge of the sun, the planets, the stars and galaxies. He is ready to set his foot on the Mars.

The history of human progress, civilization and evolution has been actually the history of advancement of knowledge. Ever since the dawn of civilization and history, it is the brain which has been more powerful than anything else. Knowledge rules supreme. The pen has been mightier than the sword. Behind the powers of kings and emperors was the brain of the learned men. It was Chanakya who guided the destiny of Maurya empire. History is the witness of the success, survival and victory of the races who were really intellectual and therefore, powerful.

Mao-Tse-Tung was wrong when he said that power grows on the barrel of a gun. He forgot the age old and time tested saying that those who live by the sword will perish by the sword. A sword can never be mightier than the pen. Pen represents learning, wisdom , knowledge, secrets of success and the sword, mere physical and material power. It is the brain or mind which is more important than matter. Mind has always ruled over matter and will continue to do so forever. The achievements of minds have always been marvellous. They have been eternal, without limits of time and space.

Pen is mightier than sword

Behind all genuine and lasting power, is knowledge. Genuine power is that which springs from knowledge and wisdom and the rest is brute force, fragile, momentary and like a bubble in the water of eternity. Knowledge is indeed power, it reigns supreme.

Season of Football

As it comes to the Copa America, South American championship of Nations that is one of the prestigious tournament in the sport and also considered one of the oldest international football tournament. the tournament consist of 10 national team- Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

The Copa America ended with a long-overdue glory for Lionel Messi, but it was not an easy one but the success led to victory not by individual but due to many reasons.

“I have been lucky enough to win everything at club level and individual level and it would be lovely to win something with the national side” the 34 year old said on the eve’s of this year Copa America. “That’s my dream”.

COPA AMERICA 11-07-2021 WINNER Argentina against Brazil

all those hard work and training finally paid off for the country, the unmeasurable skills set by the players and the strategy that the coach led to their victory have also helped the team. The heavy pressure put on by Brazilians players on Messi- that he’s never “done it” for Argentina has now silenced been silenced. And its not the enduring image shown in the picture of him holding the victory trophy but, the level of performance and dedication to achieve victory performance throughout the game. Messi is not known only for his skills but his amalgamation of teamwork and dedication have trained him to achieve victory until the end.

Messi who won the victory trophy, but was not titled man of the match. an honour probably belong to Rodrigo De Paul , with Demaria also in the running, but Messi was undoubtedly player of the tournament.

Brazilian accumulate all the energy against the Argentinian player Messi. they put on the lots of pressure in the second half of the match, but even with their five strikers on the forward filed, they could not equalized against the Argentinian defenders, protected by the outstanding defenders Rodrigo De Paul.

“First we have to congratulate our opponents especially for the first half when they neutralized us,” said Brazilian defender Thiago Silva

MENTAL PEACE

MENTAL PEACE

So let’s talk about what is exactly mental peace. People have their own different views on this, some of which are appropriate and some not.

It is that state of mind where we are not influenced by any external situations or circumstances no matter what.  Many people get annoyed or panic in situations which is out of their comfort zone.

It is something that is not very easy to achieve as we’re living in a hectic and busy world in the modern era. People nowadays are so busy with their jobs and earning money that they don’t even have time for themselves.

They tend to live in the past or future and forget about living in the present. Life is uncertain, we don’t know what happens in the next second. But we spend our life planning for future rather than living in the very second of their life.

I just want to point out here that mental health is equally important as physical health. We can exercise for hours or go to gym and get a desired physique. But what about mental health?

  • There are so many little things around us that can bring a wide smile on our face. Nature being the best instance. We can praise the trees, plants, chirping of the birds, wind, river, mountains etc. Spending time in nature can actually make us feel younger, happier. We can just close our eyes and feel the air passing through our body.
  • When we focus on our breathing, our mind is diverted towards the life enhancing process of drawing in air and exhaling. We can take deep long breaths and focus on our lungs and diaphragm as we do this. This is the quickest way to vanish any disturbance and attain mental peace within seconds.
  • Listening to a relaxing music can help maintain our peace and make us calm. There is a good saying that music is food for our soul and an instant way to gain mental peace.
  • Playing with a pet can actually make us happy. A pet loves us more than himself. I don’t think so there is one person out there who can love us more than themselves except our parents obviously. Having a pet to play with is a great way to de-stress. Touch is a powerful sense and can ease tension and promote peace of mind.
  • Accepting the life as it is. We are privileged to have food on our plate, a roof above us to live, a family to love, air to breathe, water to drink. Many people out there dream of having a life that we are living. It is important to understand that we cannot control some things. We can only accept the flow of life and go with it. Therefore Acceptance is crucial for peace of mind.
  • And last but not the least, self love is extremely important in our lives. We should accept our flaws and learn to love ourselves. We keep giving the love to others that we ourselves deserve. The more we like ourselves the more happy we are. We can deal with any tough situation that comes our way. And I truly believe by doing this we can achieve ANYTHING in our life.

Final thoughts

The most important ways to achieve peace of mind involve being true to yourself, accepting that life is uncertain and watching your thinking. Many of us mentally “torture” ourselves daily with the things we tell ourselves.

Trust your thoughts less, pay less attention to the negative ones and focus on what you are thankful for in life, and you’ll be well on your way to inner peace of mind.

Pedalling Population

“All great changes are preceded by chaos”

The pandemic situation has brought substantial changes in our day-to-day life. The changes include both sides of a coin – the raise and the fall. Let us have a  look at the optimistic changes. One noteworthy change is the switch from bikes to bicycles.  It is indeed a much-needed change for both the users and the environment. The usage of bicycles has significantly increased in the past year. The primary reasons for the growth in numbers are as follows:

  • The shutdown of gyms, recreational centers, indoor sports clubs over a prolonged period of time.
  • Stress due to the work-from-home scenario.
  • Increased fuel prices.
  • Aggravated air pollution.
  • Cycle rental services in metro and urban cities.
  • Increase in brands producing good quality cycles.
Cycling Pals in India

Constructive Competition:

People find cycling as a gateway to their emotions and thus rejuvenate their souls after a tiresome day.

Apps like Strava, Fitbit help users track their daily rides and share them on social media. This develops constructive competition. Whenever like-minded people compete the outcome is remarkable. Hence cycling became a regular habit among groups of friends, neighbors across various parts of the country. Cycling events are getting more attraction in recent times. Recently in Telangana, a national event was organized after 10 years where 600 cyclists from various parts of the country participated in cycling. Constructive Competition has not only buzzed up the consumers but also the producers of bicycles.

Market Analysis:

According to a report by Hindu, the cycling market had negative growth of about 8% in the year 2018. It was expected to turn out worse in the following years. On contrary, the market had an aggressive growth. Omkar Singh, Chairman of Cycle Federation of India is overwhelmed by the rise in sales of cycles in India. He said that the cycle market has gained a raise of about 300-400% in the lockdown period. India is one of the leading producers and consumers of cycles in the world while China holds the leading position.

Startups like E- Motorads , Nahak Motors, Go Zero Mobility have an unbelievable outreach in the Indian Market. They are reported to have sales of more than 1000 cycles within two months of their launches. This is quite huge for a startup emerging in India. The primary reasons for the success is the quality and exquisite features offered by them.

Hero and Ti cycles hold the largest share of the pie in the Indian cycle market. KK Paul, president of TI cycles shares an interesting fact that the demand for premium cycles with a price of about 30,000 INR has increased eventually. The only question which remains a mystery is with the numbers in the future. Companies are perplexed by the sudden rise in the sales of cycles and are unable to predict the mindsets of consumers in the upcoming years,

A change that was brought without anyone’s expectations has given considerable changes to both the consumers and producers. Let us hope for the best to happen in the forthcoming years.

Jagganath Rath Yatra 2021

India is land of culture and tradition; its diversity is the main reason behind such a vast number of festivals, celebrations, rituals and ceremony that we Indians celebrate every year. This forms our culture, which is rich and beautiful. One such instance of our culture that showcase the devotion, unity and purity is Jagannath Rath Yatra, Orissa.
The preparation for Jagannath Puri rath yatra which is held every year during the month of June and July has begin from today. The yatra is held in Puri, located in Orissa in the Jagannath temple. The Jagannath temple is a holy shrine for the devotees constructed by king Chodagan Dev in 12th century. It is no less than a festival for the people of Orissa and lasts for many days.
The word “Jagannath” which stands for lord of universe and rath yatra which refers to chariot journey. The popular yatra is basically about three deities lord Jagannath Bal Bhadra (brother of lord Jagannath) and sister Subhadra who travel from Jagannath temple to Gundicha shrine and they return back to Jagannath, the distance is approximately 3km and the whole celebration lasts for eight to nine days. Three big chariot which are made out of neem wood and other material, these are very tall and have long stretch canopies on the top made out of cloth and thousands of devotees pull these three chariots or rath and it takes 2 to 3 months to make these huge rath who can carry the idol of all three. Every year new rath are designed and the rituals start many days before the rath yatra.
Pulling these rath is considered a good deed and every year there are visitors from around the country to be a part of this extra ordinary rath yatra. It is a 460-year-old tradition, it has immense importance but, from the past two years the Yatra is held in the presence of limited number of people that too the main ones.
Well, this is only one out of many in India most of the time in a year people are celebrating their traditions, rituals and identity. The best part about this is getting to learn about the ancient practices and the importance they carry like why this is done, what is the speciality, where does all this takes place etc. All these things keep us connected to our land and people. Hence, of greater importance specially when you belong to such a diverse nation.

11 People Die Of Hunger Every Minute: Oxfam Report

11 People Die Of Hunger Every Minute

Countries such as Afghanistan, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Syria, Yemen and Lebanon are living in excruciating conditions. 11 people lost their lives each minute due to starvation outpacing the covid fertility rate according to a report of Oxfam.
The report also pointed out that around half a million people are living in famine conditions. In 2021, the fresh numbers of people who have been facing severe food security are 20 million, making a total of 155 million people in 55 countries.
Since the pandemic was declared, trade and market have hit the lowest of the decade. Economic activity slowed down by 3.5 per cent notwithstanding poverty, which increased by 16 per cent according to the report.
Around the world, prices of food have increased by 40 per cent, which is also associated with stuck trades and lockdowns that have disrupted food flaws.
Mulu Gebre, 26, who forcedly fled from her home in Tigray told Oxfam: “I came to Mekele because I heard that food and milk were offered for infants. When I arrived here, I couldn’t find food even for myself. I need food especially for my child, who is only four months old and was born underweight.”
The situation has indeed worsened in the last two years. Lifting people out of their destination should be the primary concern for the countries around the world. Political parties, governments, various economic cooperation groups and the UN have to come together to save human suffering.
Lebanon is the fittest example who is facing political sectarianism. As there is no stable government. Parliament’s 128 seats are divided evenly between Christians and Muslims. Which makes them serve their interests only.

In the end, there is hope that the situation will be great again. It reminds me of this quote of Buzz Aldrin
If we can conquer space, we can conquer childhood hunger.

An, appreciable factor is that the criminal is a south Indian actor as his acting was a lot more than I guessed. It is another entertainer to be watched with the family as you won’t find your time running at ease with this kind of story that explores the living of normal person with unexpected situations combine the deaths of unconnected ones who is an Officer of the Main and investigation Branch that led to the convict after conclusion of the clues. You can try watching it if possible.

  • Inside Edge (Amazon Prime)

This is a different concept so far; I have discussed where it explains the tough and hard impact on the members of a T20 franchise players to play in a league match. This team ‘Inside Edge’ becomes the powerful team consisting of men and women to destroy their obstacles behind the players and match fixers to reach their goal. Can be viewed as it is related to sports directed by the story of Mumbai Mavericks.

  • Code M

This story takes you to the peak of suspense where a officer is murdered by the corresponding militants themselves that is taken to the lawyer of the defense to investigate as it seems like an outdated and closed case.

I have given my experience with these web series but avoided series from other platforms as to ensure that no sexuality shots should be accompanied with those and I can these as genuine compared to others mostly in my opinion. So, it took me a long day enough to choose drama titles.

Does India has low divorce rate because of happy marriages?

Divorce refers to the legal cancellation of marriage declaring that marriage as null and void. Marriage which is said to be a union of two individuals is generally expected to last till the death of the couple but in some cases when the couple feels that they are not compatible with each other or are hindering each other’s growth or any other reason , they decide to legally cancel their marriage . The reasons for divorce are many not just the two reason which are mentioned above raging from domestic violence, to the cases where one partner commits infidelity to cruelty, insanity, desertion etc. It is not good to continue in a relation which is turning toxic as it will affect the mental as well as physical well being of an individual.

India , the second most populated country in the world has less than 1% of divorce rate while Maldives which is 11,031 times less populated in India has the highest divorce rate in the world with 10.67% of divorces happening per 1000 inhabitants. The reason for such a high rate is that being a Muslim country, Maldives prevents any kind of premarital physical relations and as soon as the children turn 18 , they marry . Also the marriages there are not at all a costly affair with $10 being the fee for the judge and 10 relatives being invited to the wedding. The decisions taken in such tender age of 18 are often proves to be wrong , as the partners mature with time they realise that their aims are very different from others. Also, there are no social obligation restricting them in a unhappy marriage.

Why is there such a huge discrepancy between both the countries? Is it because people in India are quite happy with their partners? Or is it because they are married with their choice of life partner? Read the blog completely to know the reasons.

Why does India has such low divorce rate?

The main reason for divorce rate being the lowest in the second most populated country in the world is that people consider divorce to be a taboo. Marriages in India are a big affair with every acquaintance being invited and treated to the best lavish dishes and luxurious gifts that the family can provide which often leads to the expenditure of the entire savings of the family and heft loan amounts. According to a common belief, here marriages are made in Heaven and even if you are suffering terribly you should not break the bond which is said to be pious tying to people in a matrimony for their next seven human lives. This belief is very contrary to what the VEDAS(the oldest religious scriptures in the world which is a theoretical source for all the laws written in the SMRITIS which used to govern the laws in ancient times) say.

Also, there is a social stigma attached to the divorces which questions the character of mainly the woman stating her to be incapable of “fulfilling her husband’s demands”. Women since centuries now, are a piece of toy who despite all her qualification fails to be called a successful woman if she is not married and has not produced the kids. It is a woman who is supposed to adjust, putting even her self respect at stake. This is the reason where a woman even after becoming a victim to domestic violence never dares to file for separation as victim blaming and shaming starts soon after and she eventually accepts domestic violence as a part of her life. A woman is supposed to have no voice of hers as she is considered incapable of taking correct decisions for herself. What an irony it is that staying in a venomous marriage is considered to be good for a woman! This is the reason that the states of Bihar, Haryana, Rajasthan and UP where patriarchy still has a strong hold have the lowest divorce rates while the liberal North East has the high rates. It is the state of Mizoram in India that has the highest divorce rate of 6.34%

The time period of divorce also stretches infinitely long sometimes taking years when the divorce is not mutual which drains the involved parties emotionally, mentally and financially due to the amount of alimony involved.

What does the VEDAS say about the marriage and divorce

According to Kirron Krishnan a Vedic spiritual theist, Rigveda (which contains information about religious, social and economic life of the people) or any of the other three Vedas do not contain any mention of the term called divorce. In those times the term was not needed because according to Rigveda , the husband takes the hand of the bride to live with her till their old age playing with their grandchildren respecting her , loving her and supporting her all along. Meanwhile the wife was the queen of her husband’s household who would over the same support , respect and love back. It was a mutual show of respect by both the parties which did not leave any scope for any domestic violence case. Further, unlike in today’s time where a daughter is considered to be a liability who is born just to be married off, in the days when India was a golden bird the women were trained and skilled by her family and was married to the groom of her choice and the same was prevalent with men.

However there is the mention of remarriage if one partner dies , rennounces the world , disappears , is involved in criminal activity or is impotent. The laws in the ancient times were far more suitable for both the genders than they are today.

Is it good to have such a low divorce rate in the country

By stating that the low divorce rates are not good it doesn’t implies that the divorces are good and more people should have it. If the couple in the marriage is happy then there are no issues, but if the couple in the marriage is not happy with each other and is only together “because they have no other way” then it is completely wrong as it will generate negative vibes harming the couple as well as their innocent children . It is seen in more than one cases that the children from unhappy marriages results in being a frustration box to their parents’ outbursts which hampers the growth of the child.

Addiction to Gadgets

Technology and gadgets are now indispensable in our daily lives. In the past few years carrying a miniature computer (a smart phone) in a pocket has become commonplace. Technology helps advance the human race forward and makes doing mundane things more efficient and repeatable. Technology has helped create the information revolution.
With technological advances, devices have evolved to be so powerful and smart that it feels like having a super-computer on one’s hands. Humans now have an insatiable appetite for information at their fingertips. When technology makes this happen, the natural tendency is for this to become an expectation.
Life Without Gadgets:
■People born before the 1980’s would very well relate to life before the information age, when people had no access to internet or personal gadgets.  Let’s briefly walk down the memory lane to relive those moments — a life without gadgets.
■Children played together outdoor — they had a lot of physical activity.
■People talked to each other more often, and verbal communication face-face was at its peak.
■Chat jargon did not exist and people knew their spellings well, as they read more books.
■People enjoyed spending more time outdoors with family and friends.
■It was commonplace to get the news from newspaper or radio.
■Entertainment came from playing board games, playing sports, going to the movies, watching VHS tapes, etc.
■Writers often used either a type-writer or a word processor on their computer.
■Computers were expensive and bulky.
■Doing research was hard; frequent visits to the library or scouring through plethora of papers, books, etc. were necessary.
■Communication was slow.
Life With Gadgets:
Gadgets equipped with internet have transformed our lives in several ways and brought about a paradigm shift in our dependence on technology to perform key tasks in our everyday routine. To highlight a few:
■Enormous amount of information at our fingertips
■Use Google Maps to get directions, watch YouTube videos to learn to cook, sing, draw, learn science, etc.
■Health monitoring apps on the cell phone that would remind people to walk, run, bike, check BP periodically, etc.
■Capability to share daily life or special events instantly with thousands of people and see reaction in a matter of minutes, if not seconds
■Expedited research with access to information galore
■Ability to watch videos on demand from anywhere (Netflix, Amazon, etc.)
■Ability to read e-books online on demand — no more visits to library needed
■Use of mobile phones, tablets as pacifiers for kids
■Improved speed of communication by orders of magnitude leading to faster decision-making
■Existence of mobile apps for entertainment, social interaction through digital media, paying bills, accessing bank accounts, etc.
Effects of Gadget Addiction:
While the business model of the top few app companies hinges on people spending more time with their gadgets every day, we need to recognize that the most important fallout of this induced behavior would be the rising epidemic of gadget addiction. A sense of urge to use the phone or any other gadget when bored or idle equates to addiction. Gadget addiction doesn’t discriminate who is affected, it affects all age groups and people of all races. The effects range from mental, physical, emotional to even threatening our democracy.
Mental and Emotional Health:
Dopamine is a neurochemical that largely controls the pleasure and reward centers of the brain. High levels of dopamine are usually associated with motivation and excitement to fulfil goals that would lead to recognized rewards and thus reinforcement of a sense of pleasure while achieving those goals. Procrastination, lack of enthusiasm and self-confidence, and boredom are linked to low levels of dopamine.
Research has shown that the brain gets “rewired” as excessive amounts of dopamine get released in the body on frequent interaction with a rewarding stimulus, i.e., using a smartphone app like Facebook. Boredom triggers an interaction with the rewarding stimulus (Facebook app), which in turn results in wide variety of rewards in the form of likes, messages, photos, etc. causing high releases of dopamine in the body. Frequent cycles such as these cause the brain’s receptors to become more insensitive to dopamine, causing the body to experience less pleasure than before for the same natural reward. This leads the person down a spiral, where one has increased craving for the same reward to achieve normal levels of pleasure. If the increased craving cannot be satisfied, it would lead to anxiety, lack of motivation and depression. Gadget addiction is likened to addiction to alcohol or drugs since it results in similar negative consequences.
Studieshave shown that children’s cognitive and emotional development can be adversely impacted by internet/gadget addiction. More screen time means more virtual interactions and rewards through social media (shares, likes) and less face time. Less face-to-face interaction with other people results in lack of empathy for fellow human beings.
Physical Health:
Today’s children are immersed in technology right from a very young age. With more than half the schools in the US using smart devices as teaching tools in class, coupled with at-home smart device usage, the total screen exposure time of students in the age group 8-18 has exceeded ten hours a day. There are obvious benefits to being exposed to technology right from a very young age, i.e., development of skills needed to be successful in technology-related areas in a future career. However, on the downside, there could be lack of development of social behavioral skills and high risk of obesity due to limited physical activity.
As one would also expect, one of the biggest health risks of excessive smart device usage is vision-related. The National Eye Institute has found that the frequency of myopia (near-sightedness) has increased exponentially in Americans over the last few decades. The other effect on eyes was reduced blink rate leading to higher incidence of dry eye symptoms.  Based on these findings, the American Academy of Pediatricshas revised recommendations for limiting screen time for kids at different ages.
Listening to loud music through earbuds has detrimental effects on hearing ability  The National Institute of Deafness and Other Communication Disordersreports that about 15% of Americans between the ages of 20-69 have a reduced capability to hear high frequency sounds due to exposure to loud sounds. Other negative effects on physical health from excessive gadget usage include lack of sleep and increased weight on the spine as the head tilt increases to view the screen.
As we see the rise of ill effects of long term gadget use, rising health concerns amidst this drive to seek mindshare, finite attention of the same consumers there are groups of individuals who are now speaking up and taking a stand. These groups are investors, ex-employees of these companies and consumer groups. Starting 2018 these voices have amplified and there is a call for action and change is imminent.
