FELLING OF BUXWAHA

Diamond mining in India dates back to ancient times. In the past, India was the only source of nearly all the world’s known diamonds, until the discovery of diamonds in South Africa in 1896. India has not been a major diamond-producing country since the 1900s, but diamond mining continues. But don’t we all know what is the price we have to pay for in order to make a mine?

Not recently have the forests of Buxwaha been in news for the wrong reasons. The diamond mine project, which is now with Aditya Birla Group’s Essel Mining & Industries Limited (EMIL), is once again facing dark clouds due to protests over ecological concerns, as it could result in the felling of over 2 lakh trees. Yes, this is the rate of a diamond mine currently!

The 55,000-crore rupees mining project spans over 300 hectares in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur district, in the drought-prone Bundelkhand region. The block is estimated to have 34 million carats of rough diamonds. The existing diamond mine, National Mineral Development Corporation’s (NMDC) is about 175 kilometres from Bunder.

The proposed Bunder diamond block in the Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh has been in the news for the wrong reasons over the years. The forests of Buxwaha, located near the site, are home to tigers, leopards, Indian foxes, sloth bears and other wildlife. The area is also rich in minor forest produce such as Tendu leaves and Mahua. Over 200,000 trees are expected to be cut in the Buxwaha forest for the diamond project. Environmentalists fear that the mining project would result in loss of biodiversity as well as air and water pollution.

The Forest clearance report shows that the project would cost over 200,000 trees in the forest region and also use a lot of water. We are against the environmental destruction in our area, which is already a water distress area,” said Sankalp Jain, a local youth who is associated with one of the groups running social media campaigns such as ‘save Buxwaha forest’ and ‘India stands with Buxwaha forest’ last month.

It is to be noted that the project, once operational, has the potential to become one of the largest diamond mines in the Asian region. The company targets the execution of the mining lease by the end of the financial year 2022. But what potential be praiseworthy where Mother Nature gets compromised? In addition to trees and wildlife, the amount of water needed to build the mine will dry out the already water-scarce region of Buxwaha. A dam is to be constructed to divert a seasonal nallah.

Expectedly the project is facing strong opposition, including social media campaigns. Already, a Public Interest Litigation has been filed in the Supreme Court of India, seeking a stay on the project that had been secured by the Essel Mining & Industries Limited in 2019. In 2006, the Madhya Pradesh government had granted a prospecting licence to Rio Tinto Exploration India Private Limited, an Australian mining giant, to explore diamond mining in the Buxwaha region in the Chhatarpur district. Opposition was done even then.

Effects of Mine

  • 2,00,000 trees are no joke. The ecosystem is no joke. Imagine the countless number of animal species residing in the woods, the amount of oxygen and water that is retained by these green guys.
  • The residents fear a massive loss of trees, including teak, ken, behda, banyan, jamun, tendu, arjuna and other medicinal trees as well as the devastation of the natural ecosystem if the project proceeds further.
  • “Despite the claims to provide jobs in mining, I feel the project will eat out the livelihood options in the area.” said a resident of Kasera village- closest village to mining site.
  • The villagers are dependent on minor forest produce and water for farming. The project involves the diversion of a nullah which is a lifeline for the area. It ensures groundwater level and water for wildlife. This project will lead to groundwater depletion as well.
  • Environmental activist Hari Krishna Dwivedi said the “whole Bundelkhand region is facing a water crisis and this forest is essential for the local ecology”.
  • The homes of people are going to be uprooted. What progress is this that uproots tribal people who have lived in the region for hundreds of years and generations, tending to the forests and taking only as much is their wont?

All you need to know about UGC( University grant commission)

Introduction

Since ancient times to the modern world, the Higher Education System has always been remarkable in our country, India. From ancient Bharat to modern India, higher education has always occupied a place of prominence in Indian history. In ancient times, Nalanda, Taxila and Vikramsila universities were renowned seats of higher learning, attracting students not only from all over the country but from far off countries like Korea, China, Burma, Sri Lanka, Tibet and Nepal. Today, India manages one of the largest higher education systems in the world.

UGC

The University Grants Commission of India (UGC India) is a statutory body set up by the Government of India in accordance to the UGC Act 1956 under the Ministry of Education, and is charged with coordination, determination and maintenance of standards of higher education. It provides recognition to universities in India, and disbursements of funds to such recognized universities and colleges. The headquarters are in New Delhi, and it has six regional centers in Pune, Bhopal, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Guwahati and Bangalore. A proposal to replace it with another new regulatory body called HECI is under consideration by the Government of India. The UGC provides doctoral scholarships to all those who clear JRF in the National Eligibility Test. On an average, each year more than a $100 million is spent on doctoral and post-doctoral fellowships by the commission.

History

  • The present system of higher education dates back to Mountstuart Elphinstone`s minutes of 1823, which stressed on the need for establishing schools for teaching English and the European sciences. Later, Lord Macaulay, in his minutes of 1835, advocated “efforts to make natives of the country thoroughly good English scholars”. Sir Charles Wood`s Dispatch of 1854, famously known as the ` Magna Carta of English Education in India`, recommended creating a properly articulated scheme of education from the primary school to the university. It sought to encourage indigenous education and planned the formulation of a coherent policy of education. Subsequently, the universities of Calcutta, Bombay (now Mumbai) and Madras were set up in 1857, followed by the university of Allahabad in 1887. The Inter-University Board (later known as the Association of Indian Universities) was established in 1925 to promote university activities, by sharing information and cooperation in the field of education, culture, sports and allied areas.
  • The first attempt to formulate a national system of education in India came In 1944, with the Report of the Central Advisory Board of Education on Post War Educational Development in India, also known as the Sergeant Report. It recommended the formation of a University Grants Committee, which was formed in 1945 to oversee the work of the three Central Universities of Aligarh, Banaras and Delhi. In 1947, the Committee was entrusted with the responsibility of dealing with all the then existing Universities.
  • Soon after Independence, the University Education Commission was set up in 1948 under the Chairmanship of Dr. S Radhakrishnan “to report on Indian university education and suggest improvements and extensions that might be desirable to suit the present and future needs and aspirations of the country”. It recommended that the University Grant Committee be reconstituted on the general model of the University Grants Commission of the United Kingdom with a full-time Chairman and other members to be appointed from amongst educationists of repute. In 1952, the Union Government decided that all cases pertaining to the allocation of grants-in-aid from public funds to the Central Universities and other Universities and Institutions of higher learning might be referred to the University Grants Commission. Consequently, the University Grants Commission (UGC) was formally inaugurated by late Shri Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the then Minister of Education, Natural Resources and Scientific Research on 28 December 1953.
  • The UGC, however, was formally established only in November 1956 as a statutory body of the Government of India through an Act of Parliament for the coordination, determination and maintenance of standards of university education in India. In order to ensure effective region-wise coverage throughout the country, the UGC has decentralized its operations by setting up six regional centers at Pune, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Bhopal, Guwahati and Bangalore. The head office of the UGC is located at Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg in New Delhi, with two additional bureaus operating from 35, Feroze Shah Road and the South Campus of University of Delhi as well.
  • In 1994 and 1995 the UGC decentralized its operations by setting up six regional centres at Pune, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Bhopal, Guwahati and Bangalore. The head office of the UGC is located at Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg in New Delhi, with two additional bureaus operating from 35, Feroze Shah Road and the South Campus of University of Delhi as well.
  • In December 2015 the Indian government set a National Institutional of Ranking Framework under UGC which will rank all educational institutes by April 2016.

Role

  • The main aim & role of UGC in higher education is to provide funds to universities and coordinate, determine & maintain the ethics in institutions of higher education. The commission upholds the interpretation among the universities, government, and the community. UGC has also set some standards for the universities for being UGC Approved Universities. With the growth of higher education in India, many top, medium, and small universities are being established day by day. Among these universities, there are many universities that are fake and not fit as per the UGC standards. Therefore, the University Grants Commission has released the list of Fake Universities in India to help the students to recognize these rejected universities

Functions

It provides funds and it also arranges for the coordination and maintenance of the universities in India. The UGC controls the following in India:

2.It is a link between the union government and the institutes of higher education system.

3. It also advises the government about the steps to be taken in order to improve the education system.

4.Allocates grants to the universities and colleges out of its own funds for their development or other general purpose.Advises the central and state government on disbursing grants to the universities out of the Consolidated Fund of India. Advises any authority on the establishment of new university or on the proposal seeking expansion of any university.

5.Collects information on university education in India and in other countries.

6.Seeks information from the universities from time to time. The information may range from the financial position of the university, their various branches of learning to the rules and regulations followed in a particular university.

Imparts education to the students in various streams through its Country wide classroom teachings and a four-year old 24 hours educational channel ‘Vyas’.

Ocean acidification

Ocean acidification is a serious environmental problem, it is equivalent to the problem of climate change or much bigger. As there are many changes happening around in the environment, some of which we can hardly see. Ocean acidification is related to the water bodies and the aquatic life as a result, the ultimate impact is faced by the aquatic creatures and indirectly by the humans.
Ocean acidification is associated with natural process, the carbon dioxide present in atmosphere is absorbed by the ocean bodies. It is a natural process that is actually beneficial for the environment as the extra amount of carbon dioxide gases present in the environment are absorbed this leads to reduction in the temperature. But the problem started when the absorption amount increased over the years and it keeps on increasing by every passing year. This might seem fine initially but, it is a matter of concern for scientists and researchers, just like any other major environmental problem this is not good for aquatic biodiversity.
There are multiple causes of ocean acidification and why ocean acidification can become a big challenge in future –
The raise in atmospheric carbon dioxide, due to excessive pollution, emission of harmful gases and other activities has increased the absorption level in the oceans as well.
Fossil fuels is another top reason for ocean acidification as the burning of fossil fuels like coal, petroleum produces carbon dioxide gas, which indirectly contributes to ocean acidification.
The waste that is disposed off in the ocean contaminates the water bodies and increases the level of acidity of water. This waste includes agricultural waste, industrial waste etc.
These are the main causes of ocean acidification, they directly or indirectly become hazardous sooner or later. The changes occurring in the ocean is not visible to us but, it can not be ignored in long run.
The process of acidification increases the PH level of water, this acidity can actually be determined by tests. The chemical composition of water is destroyed slowly and gradually. The effect can be seen on the aquatic life and aquatic organism, the corals can detoriate at a higher rate, the shells of animals can not form and the tiny organism which plays a significant role in the aquatic world can not adapt to this acidic level and thus can not survive. Basically, different aspects are targeted, which can create hurdles in the balance of aqua diversity.
This issue is widely discussed in international conferences and some countries have already started monitoring the condition. They are further working to take steps to answer the problem many people are dependent on ocean a fisherman earns his livelihood, a sailor sails in ocean and if not, profession wise; but we all are drinking water which come from these water bodies only. If not today then in future we will be drinking this acidic water. The fact that with development came higher amount of waste generation, pollution, deforestation, climate change, global warming, and new problems. If all the problems are not resolved responsibly at global level the earth and its people are going to suffer a lot in near future. We can already experience the impact in the form of frequent droughts, tsunami, earthquake, landslide, forest fires etc.

Child Labor

The human beings between the age of 0 to 14 years are classified as children. It is the age of innocence which forms the basic foundation of a person’s character. It is in this age where the basic physical and mental structure of an individual develops and also morals like integrity, perseverance, honesty and hard work are cultivated. This age can be compared to that of a blooming bud which needs proper nourishment in the form of water , sunlight and nutrients to bloom into a beautiful big flower. Any kind of extra interference in the normal building of a human body tampers the growth and cause serious consequences for the future that is the adulthood which in turn affects the nation as a whole.

The term child labor refers to the exploitation of children by making them do any type of work that deprives them of their innocence, cause damage to their physical health, mental trauma, affects their dignity and causes any kind of moral or social harm. If in the age of learning an individual will be force to work and will be exposed to physically and morally dangerous situations or any kind of violence it will make that child to grow into an adult full of social loathe, low learning, may also make him/her abusive as the absence of proper learning and tremendous pressure tampers the brain to a great extent and that individual may not even be able to live a basic life maybe adopting the way of crime. They will have this mentality that no matter the amount of hard work which is put , the people who are born to just serve (work) can never succeed by the hook.

The United Nations Children’s Fund(UNICEF) has revealed in its report that India with its larger population has the highest number of labors under 14 years of age i.e. it has the highest number of child labors. This blog will tell you the reasons for these high numbers and the measures taken by government to prevent the exploitation of children.

Why is India leading in Child labor

According to the statistics, over 68.8% of the total Indian population is in poverty with an income of less than $2 per day (i.e. 150 rupees) per family where the number of family members can extend more than 10 too with minimum earning members. In a situation where hand to mouth existence becomes difficult, it is very obvious that people tends to increase the number of heir earning members and thus the children in the age of learning becomes the earning members. Education becomes a very high graded luxury in such cases though the government schools provide free education for children upto 14 years of age. Parents believe that the money child will earn in 8 hours which would have been spent in school will at least gather them one meal.

This is the reason the children of 7- 8 years of age are sent far away from their homes on the pretext of getting good jobs when they are in reality being pushed into trafficking. While in some cases tired of poverty, parents themselves sell their children for a small portion amount of money. The trafficked children are then brought into the “child begging industry” where one of their body part is removed and they are forced to beg money as such children evokes the emotion of pity. Organ trafficking is also a part of this big racket which leads to the early deaths in children.

Few children mostly girls are introduced into sex trafficking and as domestic maids where they encounter not only physical and sexual violence but also are starved for days with maximum labor. This is a complete violation of their innocence and dignity.

Child soldiers are another category where these children are sent to serve for money and are trained to rebel against a group of individuals or a government since their childhood days. The best example of child soldiers is the incorporation of children in the terrorist groups which inculcates the strong emotion of hate in them at such a tender age.

Further, the children are naive and can work for longer hours in a relatively low income which makes them a perfect employee for the illegal small scale industries like firecrackers, bidi making etc. It has been reported more than once of many children getting injured in the blast accidents which happens in such industries.

The illegal employment of children working in Brick kilns, minning areas , stone quarries have led to several health problems such as severe respiratory ailments, weakness, hair loss, vision loss and premature aging.

Steps taken to cease this violation

According to data from Census 2011, India was recorded to have 10.1 million (nearly 1 crore) children working as child labors out of which 5.6 million were boys and 4.4 million girls. Whereas, 152 million children works as child labors worldwide with 88 million being boys and rest 64 million being girls. This statistic shows that 1 out of every 10 children works as a child labor worldwide.

The Indian Constitution has labelled Child Labor as a criminal offence with many acts offering a minimum of 3 years of jail if a person is found guilty of child labor. Also, section 372 of IPC(1860) declares the selling of a minor for the purpose of prostitution as a non bailable offence with over 10 years of imprisonment and fine.

Further several non profit organisations are also working to rescue the children from bondages and grant them their fundamental right of Right To Education. Kailash Satyarthi, a receiver of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 has worked since years for the upliftment of suppressed children and to terminate child labor. His foundation The Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation has rescued many children from the exploitation and continues to do so till date.

Child labor is a plague which robs the innocence and the growth from the children who are not privileged, which if not stopped from the common effort will continue to affect the future of the nation.

Social Media: A Blessing or a curse

See the source image

Our world is changing rapidly with the change in technology. We have seen some massive good and bad effects of technology in our lives and society. Social media can be a blessing and a curse depending upon your product, service, and the specific platforms you choose to use. We all are addicted to some social media channels like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat etc. It’s a hard fact that social media has changed our lives in both negative and positive ways.

Positive Impact

We are living in a modern age of internet when no one deny the presence of social media. The world has changed a lot in the last decade or so. After the creation of the Internet, the world has become a global village. Information is accessible everywhere and any time. In earlier days we used to send letters to our friends and family members, and it took days to reach the destination. Now with the blessing of internet we can write emails and send messages through WhatsApp and can communicate with each other without any delay. In this pandemic where Coronavirus has completely changed our way of living, just imagine if there was no internet how we could have survived in this situation. Now somehow with many apps available in the market we were able to minimize the impact of this pandemic and continue our routine work. Classes are conducted online due to which students do not have to waste their time sitting idle at home. Many people have started online start ups , they can sit at their home and work online without going to offices.

Negative Impact

Social media is leaving negative effects on its users in many ways. People try to talk less and only where it is necessary. They avoid communicating with their family and try to spend more time using social apps. It is usually seen among kids that they do not talk much with their family and prefer to spend more of their time using social gadgets and remain alone in their rooms. It has become another popular trend that they use short forms in their conversation instead of promoting their native language. The frequent use of social media has decreased the physical activities of the generation which is causing a lack of confidence. People who use social media find it hard to speak confidently sitting in some gathering. The people who are habitual of using social media have less informative skills because their mindset doesn’t allow them to think out of their spam as the use of social apps restricts their thinking. Its addictive usage is creating visual and headache problems among its users. The harmful rays that come out of the devices that they use, affects their brain and eyes. Social media users show fearless and rude behavior to their parents and show no interest in family gatherings and sittings. Its usage has increased the demand for money and facilities which sometimes leads the user to superiority or inferiority complex. Crime cases and very especially women harassment cases have also been increased because of the influence of social media on society.

Monsoon

The word ‘monsoon’ has been derived from the Arabic word ‘Mausim’ which means ‘Season’. Originally, the word ‘monsoon’ was used by Arab navigators several centuries ago,to describe a system of seasonal reversal of winds along the shores of the Indian Ocean, especially over the Arabian sea.It blows from the south – west to North – east during Summer and from the north – east to south – west during winter.Monsoons are a complex metrological phenomenon.Meteorologists have developed a number of concepts about the origin of monsoons.According to the Dynamic concept,Monsoon wind originates due to the seasonal migration of planetary winds and pressure belts following the position of the sun.During summer solstice, the sun’s rays fall vertically over the Tropic of cancer. Therefore, all the pressure and wind belts of the globe shift northwards. At this time,Inter – Tropical Convergence Zone ( ITCZ ) also moves northward, and a major part of Indian landmass comes under the influence of southeast trade winds. While crossing equator this wind gets deflected and takes the direction of southeast and becomes south-west monsoon.During the winter season, the pressure and wind belts shift southward, thereby establishing the north-east monsoon (trade winds) over this region.Such systematic change in the direction of planetary winds is known as monsoon.

Seasons

The metrologists recognize the four distinct seasons in India.They are;

1.winter or cold weather season(January – February)
2.Pre Monsoon or summer or hot weather season (March – May)
3.Southwest monsoon or rainy season (June- September)
4.Northeast monsoon season (October-December).

1.Winter or cold weather season.

During this period, the vertical rays of the sun falls over tropic of Capricorn which is far away from India.Hence,India receives the slanting sun’s rays which results in low  temperature. The cold weather season is Characterized by clear skies, find weather, light northerly winds, low humidity and large day time variations of temperature.During this season a high pressure develops over north India and a north – westerly wind blows down the Indus and Ganges valleys. In south India ,the general direction of wind is from east to west. The mean temperature increases from north to south, the decrease being sharp as one moves northwards in the north-western part of the country. The mean daily minimum temperatures range from 22°C in the extreme south,to 10°C in the northern plains and 6°C in Punjab. The rain during this season generally oocurs over the Western Himalayas,Tamil Nadu and Kerala.Western disturbances and associated trough in Westerlies are main rain bearing system in Northern part of the country. The jet stream in Northern part of the country. The jet stream plays a dominant role in bringing these disturbances to India. These disturbances cause rainfall in Punjab,Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, and snowball in the hills of Jammu and Kashmir .This rainfall is very usefull for the cultivation of winter wheat.

Hindi Should Be Our National Language

There is no National language in India. Hindi is also one of our official languages. Hindi is recognized as the official language of 9 states and 3 union territories, and one of the two parliamentary languages of India. Although the language is widely understood by the majority of Indian citizens, Hindi has not been accepted as the national language of this country.

Clause 1 Article 343 of the constitution of India states that the official language of the Union shall be Hindi in Devanagari script. The constitution does not assume any language for that matter in the category of the national language. Hindi and English have been acknowledged as official languages of the parliament. However, every state can exercise the right to authorize a particular language through legislation.

Hindi should be our National Language because it is easy to understand and in today’s world where everyone watches television, web shows and through internet everybody is familiar with Hindi language. Our country must have a internal language which can be understood and spoken by everyone i.e Hindi, I love Hindi and support it to be our national language. According to me it gives me the feeling of united one India. I get that unity feeling as an Indian. Hindi is the only language which unites people from different states and it increases belongingness to whole India not only limited to their own state.

But still there are many people from South India and West Bengal who opposes Hindi to be our national language and many people from South don’t even understand Hindi properly. They need to understand the fact that if Hindi becomes our National Language that will not decrease the importance of their regional language, other languages is not going to extinct. This narrow mentality which is limited to their state only should be changed, otherwise India can never be one. Sanskrit could be chosen too for our National Language but the thing is many generations already been passed who were not taught Sanskrit and they are not enough familiar with sanskrit to speak this language. Only Hindi now a days can become the language which can unite Indians and therefore India. Therefore Hindi should be taught compulsorily in every state along with English and their regional languages respectively.

The Hindi Language is very old and has a direct line of evolution to Sanskrit. As such Hindi is incredibly important in the historic development of the world’s cultures and well worth not just honoring, but studying. Anyone with an interest in world history or languages would do well to do a little bit of intense reading on the subject of Hindi.

Popularity of Hindi in other countries

Nepal has the second largest group of Hindi speaking people. Surprisingly the United States is home to the third largest group of Hindi speaking people. About 650, 000 people speak the language in the country making it the 11th most popular foreign language in the United States. A third of Mauritians ( 450,000) speak the Hindi language.

Indian songs and hymns have been adapted and used by various popular rap and pop music artists. From science to commerce and business to various multimedia as shown India to becoming a viable world economy with increasing interest in the world. Bollywood as it is called the second biggest film following Hollywood. Indian music becomes influential, not only audiences in the United States but also with the rest of the world.

Procrastination

We all tend to procrastinate in one way or another. Procrastination is delaying important tasks to do unimportant tasks instead.

Why would we want to complete tasks when we can spend our time doing more enjoyable things like watching a movie, going outside, playing a game, etc.

There are several reasons why people tend to procrastinate. They are due to depression, anxiety, perfectionism, fear of evaluation, lack of energy, or lack of motivation.

The first step to stop procrastinating is to figure out the reason behind it. So, you can start working on strategies to overcome it.

Procrastination is a bad habit. It stops us from reaching our potential. Yes, we can complete the assignment one minute before the deadline. But will that assignment be good?

So, here are a few tips that could help you break this cycle of procrastination:

  • Stop waiting for the right time to do the task. I had a habit of waiting for the right time. There is no right time. Take the time you have now and make it right.
  • Remember to give yourself breaks after completing the task. We cannot just keep working all day. Our brains need a break to rest. So, give yourself a break after you complete the task.
  • Another thing to do is forgive yourself if you procrastinated for a day. I try to be productive every day but, there are some days where I do not feel like doing much. That is okay too. We do not have to be so hard on ourselves. Just remember to make the next day count.
  • If you are not starting a few tasks because you think it is a lot of work. You should try dividing them into parts. This will give you enough time to complete everything without feeling drenched.
  • Reward yourself after completing tasks. This will make you feel accomplished and keep you motivated to do more because it comes with a reward.

When you enter a cycle of completing your tasks and then enjoying your time. It will give you a great sense of accomplishment. It feels great to do things beforehand instead of delaying them. This will make you feel more productive every day. This way you will not feel guilty for having fun.

Now, the next thing to do is to imagine yourself in a situation five years from now. You have completely failed in your life. All the dreams you had could not be fulfilled. Think about your emotions in this situation. Give yourself time to really imagine this situation.

Now how do you feel?

It is your procrastination that came in the way of your success. You kept delaying things and never ended up working for your dreams and future.

Lucky for us, it was just a situation that could happen if we keep procrastinating. We still have time with us to change the situation. Everything you do from this point should contribute to you not being in that situation.

6 HABITS THAT HURT YOUR MENTAL HEALTH

In the times of increasing mental health issues among people, it is very necessary to learn every aspect in detail. You never know who is hurting and who is not. Being kind to one and all is the best way to avoid future guilt. Help the ones you think are struggling in silence.

Here are six habits that can hurt your mental health.

1. PERFECTIONISM

Do you often describe yourself as a perfectionist? Being a perfectionist would make you give your 100% in everything. Well on the positive side it may serve you as a boon as it will uplift your image and make you an absolute person. However if your perfectionism is making you set standards that are impossible to reach or make you constantly feel like anything worse than perfect is a complete failure, then it may hurt your mental health. It will develop more anxiety and your own self esteem and self confidence will take a hit because of the unrealistic standards you set for yourself.

2. LACK OF PHYSICAL EXERCISE

Exercise is not only beneficial for your physical self but will also help you mentally.Research says that the chemical and hormonal reactions in you body will make you feel good mentally and light headed. When you work out, the body releases endorphins which are responsible for reducing the chemicals that cause depression, anxiety, and stress. Make sure to exercise for at least 30 minutes.

3. OVERUSE OF SOCIAL MEDIA

The overuse of social media can harm your mental health as it can promote anxiety and lead to issues with self esteem in youths and adults. You happen to compare your life to others. This habit will bring doubts and insecurity that will worsen your entire mood.

4. TAKING LIFE TOO SERIOUSLY

If you ever happen to make a mistake, and you end up reflecting on your mistake and feeling guilty rather than taking it easy or laughing it out, then it effects your mental health on a large scale. Study says that laughing a lot can help in the betterment of both physical and mental health as the body releases endorphins and suppress your stress hormones. So take it all easy!!

5. NOT GETTING ENOUGH SLEEP

Sometimes you may get caught up in your work that can make you sacrifice your good sleep, but that has a negative effect on your mind. Lack of sleep makes it super hard for your brain cells to communicate properly. Most of the people suffering from depression also suffer from Insomnia. Lack of sleep prevents your body as well as your mind from resting and recovering from the chores and the stress of the previous day. Due to this the state of your body and mind will worsen in the future.

6. REGRETTING VERY OFTEN

If you spend a lot of your time thinking of the mistakes or mishaps from the past and regret doing them, then it negatively affects your mental well being. Its normal to feel regret once in a blue moon but making it a habit will make you more prone to depression.

No matter what you are going through right now, know that you are not alone!

Reach out to people when in need. Take care of yourself!

COVID – 19

STAY HOME AND STAY SAFE

Meetali soni

Whole world is suffering from the big pademic. The name of the pademic is COVID -19 .It is a very dangerous disease. The World Health Organization has declared the novel coronavirus (SARS-Co-V-2) a global pandemic. COVID-19 is the disease caused by a new coronavirus called SARS-CoV-2.  COVID-19 is killing people on a large scale. As of October 10, 2020, more than 7.7 million people across every state in the United States and its four territories had tested positive for COVID-19. The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a dramatic loss of human life worldwide and presents an challenge to public health, food systems and the world of work. Without the means to earn an income during lockdowns, many are unable to feed themselves and their families. For most, no income means no food. Much of daily life has been colored by the coronavirus. WHO first learned of this new virus on 31 December 2019 .It attacks ourlungs and effects our immune system .It is a viral disease. It spreads through touching the things . We all are fedup from durning the lockdowns. Complications leading to death may include respiratory failure, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS),including injury of the heart, liver or kidneys. People aged 60 years and over, and those with underlying medical problems like high blood pressure, heart and lung problems, diabetes, obesity or cancer, are at higher risk of developing serious illness. The first human cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus causing COVID-19, subsequently named SARS-CoV-2 were first reported by officials in Wuhan City, China, in December 2019.Stay safe by taking some simple precautions, such as physical distancing, wearing a mask, especially when distancing cannot be maintained, keeping rooms well ventilated, avoiding crowds and close contact, regularly cleaning your hands, and coughing into a bent elbow or tissue. The symptoms of covid -19 are high fever, cough and cold , weakness, headache etc. While a person is waiting for test results, they should remain isolated from others. Where testing capacity is limited, tests should first be done for those at higher risk of infection, such as health workers, and those at higher risk of severe illness such as older people, especially those living in seniors’ residences or long-term care facilities. When the government ordered for lockdown many people faced mamy problems . All the services were closed . Only emergency services are opned like hosptals , dairy shops , medical shopes , fruits and vegetables shopes .Antibody tests can tell us whether someone has had an infection in the past, even if they have not had symptoms. Also known as serological tests and usually done on a blood sample, these tests detect antibodies produced in response to an infection. In most people, antibodies start to develop after days to weeks and can indicate if a person has had past infection. Antibody tests cannot be used to diagnose COVID-19 in the early stages of infection or disease but can indicate whether or not someone has had the disease in the past.

Quarantine is used for anyone who is a contact of someone infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus.Quarantine means that you remain separated from others because you have been exposed to the virus and you may be infected and can take place in a designated facility or at home. For COVID-19, this means staying in the facility or at home for 14 days.

Isolation is used for people with COVID-19 symptoms or who have tested positive for the virus. Being in isolation means being separated from other people, ideally in a medically facility where you can receive clinical care.  If isolation in a medical facility is not possible and you are not in a high risk group of developing severe disease, isolation can take place at home. If you have symptoms, you should remain in isolation for at least 10 days plus an additional 3 days without symptoms. If you are infected and do not develop symptoms, you should remain in isolation for 10 days from the time you test positive.
