Definition: The quality of being conscious of one’s own feelings and character.

Self-awareness is a person’s knowledge of themselves and their worth as a person.

Self-awareness involves being aware of different aspects of the self, including traits, behaviors, and feelings. Essentially, it is a psychological state in which oneself becomes the focus of attention.

Self-awareness represents the capacity of becoming the object of one’s own attention. In this state one actively identifies, processes, and stores information about the self. This paper surveys the self-awareness literature by emphasizing definition issues, measurement techniques, effects and functions of self-attention, and antecedents of self-awareness. Key self-related concepts (e.g., minimal, reflective consciousness) are distinguished from the central notion of self- awareness. Reviewed measures include questionnaires, implicit tasks, and self recognition. Main effects and functions of self-attention consist in self-evaluation, escape from the self, and amplification of one’s subjective experience, increased self-knowledge, self-regulation, and inferences about others’ mental states (Theory-of-Mind). A neurocognitive and socio-ecological model of self-awareness is described in which the role of face-to-face interactions, reflected appraisals, mirrors, media, inner speech, imagery, autobiographical knowledge, and neurological structures is underlined.

HIV (Human immunodeficiency virus) is a virus that attacks cells that help the body fight infects, making a person more vulnerable to other infection and disease. It is spread by contact with certain body fluids of a person with HIV, most commonly during unprotected sex (sex without a condom or HIV medicine to prevent or treat HIV), or through sharing injection drug equipment.

HOW IT CAUSES AND SPREADS

HIV is caused by a virus. It can spread through sexual contact or blood or from mother to child during pregnancy, child birth or breastfeeding.

HIV destroys CD4 T-cells. WBCs that play a large role in helping your body fight against disease so the fewer CD4 T-cells you have, the weaker your immune system becomes. So AIDS is diagnosed when then CD4 T-cell count falls below 200 or you have AIDS defining complication such as serious infection on cancer.

To become infected with HIV, infected blood, semen or vaginal secretion must enter your body. This can happen in several ways:

  3. From blood transfusion- Virus also transmitted by transfusion of contaminated blood.
  4. During pregnancy or delivery or through breast feeding- Infected mothers can pass their HIV to babies.

So as we know that prevention is better than cure, so here are some steps through which we can protect ourselves from HIV-AIDS.

PREVENTIVE MEASURES FROM HIV-AIDS

  1. Get tested for HIV- Talk to your partner and get tested for HIV before sex.

Migration History of Kohinoor Diamond India to England…

It is said to be unlucky for men to wear the Koh-i-Noor diamond owing to its long and bloody history. Mughal was found is stone. Kohinoor means the mountain of light, and Its name is derived from the Persian word Koh-i-Noor. Mohammed shah Rangila has the master of this precious diamond in the 18th century. Its magnanimous traits and size make it the most desirable precious stone. Kohinoor was originally 793 carats when uncut which makes the biggest diamond in the world. Mined in Kollur Mine, India, during the period of the Delhi Sultanate, there is no record of its original weight – but the earliest well-attested weight is 186 old carats (191 metric carats or 38.2 g). The diamond was part of the Mughal Peacock Throne. It changed hands between various factions in south and west Asia, until being ceded to Queen Victoria after the British annexation of Punjab in 1849.

Originally, the stone was of a similar cut to other Mughal-era diamonds, like the Darya-i-Noor, which are now in the Iranian Crown Jewels. In 1851, it went on display at the Great Exhibition in London, but the lackluster cut failed to impress viewers. Prince Albert, the husband of Queen Victoria, ordered it to be re-cut as an oval brilliant by Coster Diamonds. By modern standards, the culet is unusually broad, giving the impression of a black hole when the stone is viewed head-on; it is nevertheless regarded by gemologists as “full of life”.

in the past, there are many kings and the Mughals fought for Kohinoor, firstly Babur, the Turco-Mongol founder of the Mughal Empire, wrote about a “famous” diamond that weighed just over 187 old carats – approximately the size of the 186-carat Koh-i-Noor. Some historians think Babur’s diamond is the earliest reliable reference to the Koh-i-Noor. According to his diary, it was acquired by Alauddin Khalji, the second ruler of the Khalji dynasty of the Delhi Sultanate. Babur received the diamond in 1526 as a tribute for his conquest of Delhi and Agra at the Battle of Panipat. Shah Jahan, the fifth Mughal emperor, had the stone placed into his ornate Peacock Throne. In 1658, his son and successor, Aurangzeb, confined the ailing emperor to Agra Fort. While in the possession of Aurangzeb, it was allegedly cut by Hortense Borgia, a Venetian lapidary, reducing the weight of the large stone to 186 carats. For this carelessness, Borgia was reprimanded and fined 10,000 rupees.

In 1739 invasion of Delhi by Nadir Shah, the Afsharid Shah of Persia, the treasury of the Mughal Empire was looted by his army in an organized and thorough acquisition of the Mughal nobility’s wealth. Along with millions of rupees and an assortment of historic jewels, the Shah also carried away the Koh-i-Noor. After Nadir Shah was killed and his empire collapsed in 1747, the Koh-i-Noor fell to his grandson, who in 1751 gave it to Ahmad Shah Durrani, founder of the Afghan Empire, in return for his support. One of Ahmed’s descendants, Shuja Shah Durrani, wore a bracelet containing the Koh-i-Noor on the occasion of Mountstuart Elphinstone’s visit to Peshawar in 1808. A year later, Shuja formed an alliance with the United Kingdom to help defend against a possible invasion of Afghanistan by Russia. He was quickly overthrown but fled with the diamond to Lahore, where Ranjit Singh, founder of the Sikh Empire, in return for his hospitality, insisted upon the gem being given to him, and he took possession of it in 1813.

Ranjit Singh had the diamond examined by jewelers of Lahore for two days to ensure that Shuja had not tricked him. After the jewelers confirmed its genuineness, he donated 125,000 rupees to Shuja. Ranjit Singh then asked the principal jewelers of Amritsar to estimate the diamond’s value; the jewelers declared that the value of the diamond was “far beyond all computation”. Ranjit Singh then fixed the diamond in the front of his turban and paraded on an elephant to enable his subjects to see the diamond.

On 29 March 1849, following the conclusion of the Second Anglo-Sikh War, the Kingdom of Punjab was formally annexed to Company rule, and the Last Treaty of Lahore was signed, officially ceding the Koh-i-Noor to Queen Victoria and the Maharaja’s other assets to the company. Article III of the treaty read: “The gem called the Koh-i-Noor, which was taken from Shah Sooja-ool-moolk by Maharajah Ranjeet Singh, shall be surrendered by the Maharajah of Lahore to the Queen of England. On 1 February 1850, the jewel was sealed in a small iron safe inside a red dispatch box, both sealed with red tape and a wax seal and kept in a chest at Bombay Treasury awaiting a steamer ship from China. It was then sent to England for presentation to Queen Victoria in the care of Captain J. Ramsay and Brevet Lt. Col F. Mackeson under tight security arrangements, one of which was the placement of the dispatch box in a larger iron safe. They departed from Bombay on 6 April on board HMS Medea, captained by Captain Lockyer.

Keep yourself healthy in this monsoon

As monsoon arrived at some places and in some places it is arriving in some days. Most of us love this season. The feeling of rain with hot pakoras and chutney is just awesome. But this monsoon season also come with a lot of diseases like cough and cold, malaria, stomach infection, fever, typhiod, pneumonia etc, so it is necessary to prevent yourself and your family from these disease as it is very humid season so it helps in growth of many germs and mosquito breeding also takes place. So it is needed that you are careful about your diet as well as your surrounding.

FOODS WE SHOULD AVOID IN RAINY SEASON

  1. Leafy vegetables – It is true that leafy vegetable are important but we should avoid these in rainy season as grime and dampness present in them makes them highly susceptible to germs. So vegetables like spinach, cabbage and cauliflower should be avoided. Instead of that go for pungent vegetables like bitter gourd, ghiya, tori and tinde.
  2. Fresh juice and fruit from roadside vendor – In this season any fresh fruit thay have a long exposure in air should be avoided and roadside vendor keep fruit cut up in advance. So it come in contact with contaminated air. So it is good to prepare juice at home only. In home too, don’t leave cut fruits out for very long time lead to contamination.
  3. Sea food- Monsoon is the breeding season for fish and prawn. So they should be avoided this time. If you are craving for non veg, you can have chicken or mutton.
  4. Fried food- Fried food should be avoided in rainy season as high humid weather of monsoon causes digestion process to slow down, so eating fried food like pakodas, samosas can cause gastronomical complication like blotting and stomach upset.
  5. Fizzy drinks – It reduce mineral in our body which lead to reduction of enzyme activity. This is highly undesirable with an already weak digestive system. Instead of that drink a bottle of water or nimbu pani or warm beverages like ginger tea.

HOW TO KEEP YOURSELF HEALTHY

Keep these things in mind so thay you can fully enjoy this season without worrying about your and your family’s health.

Falling Apart

Our life is never about the destination. Life is a beautiful journey with a lot of stops along the way. We feel if we know what to expect in our future, we will be ready for it. This imagery has become so much a part of our language that we don’t even stop to think about what it actually means for us.

When things don’t go our way, it feels like everything is falling apart. Despite having our bouts of feeling depressed we try to remain in a continual state of happiness. However, this is possible only if we accept the fact that everything is as good or bad as one’s opinion makes it.

Everyone is in a constant state of falling apart. How you deal with it is dictated by your outlook on life. You could, after all, try these few things.

  1. Never hide your emotions

Some people like to cry when they are overwhelmed. Tears are, in fact, a way for your body to get rid of those excess emotions, and if you hold these emotions too long they may corrode your insides. Talk to people – your loved ones, your friends. You will find that every one of them has something difficult going on in their lives.

  1. Be honest

Be true to yourself. If you cannot admit your problem to yourself, you can never openly talk about it which means you will never be able to take the first step towards solving that problem. So much pain mostly comes from not telling the truth. Lying is mostly the reason for things falling apart. After admitting the truth to yourself, make sure you always tell the truth to those around you. It may hurt for a second but eventually, things will fall back into place.

  1. Ask for help

The society inherently and subconsciously teaches us that asking for help is pathetic and a sign of weakness. This makes a person feel trapped and alone, inevitably hurting him and those around him. Accept the fact that everyone struggles at some point in the journey of their life. Instead of acting like it is not universal, start hailing vulnerability for what it actually is – a sign of strength, openness, and hope. Do not be afraid to ask for help.

  1. Have your cheat moments

Just like people have their cheat days from diets, have your cheat moments from the problems you are facing. Do not let your pain entirely rule every aspect of your life. Enjoy some trivial and jovial moments of life guilt-free.

  1. There will be days when you are not okay, and that is okay

The journey of life is a bumpy one. There will be days where the pain and reality of your situation will consume you. Allow yourself to feel helpful on such days. But never forget that tomorrow is a good day and the sun will eventually shine brightly again. When it seems like life is falling apart, it may actually be falling into a place better than expected.

“Taste or Health – Man Against Oneself” ?

Evolution of mankind has led humans to different phases and eras of lifestyle with doors opened to every kind of facility, commodity and comfort. But all this came with all the great efforts and struggles of our ancestors who traveled from place to place in search of food and water initially, then shelter, knowledge, relationship, and many more. So there is and will be a lot more to learn from the finding and struggles of our ancestors. But we humans as we evolved, tried to shift towards things which fascinated us. So we hardly invested in things which were really necessary for us, especially our body truly needed it. The best and finest example for the same is food. Humans and its tribes have walked distances in search of better water and food resources so as to remain fit and healthy. But in today’s world we have totally shifted from the mindset of “What is necessary to our body and health towards What is necessary for our taste”. So doing all this we truly have deteriorated our health and immune system definitely.

Today’s youth has made a quick shift towards these junk and unhealthy foods and love eating it more oftenly. Variety of these outlets have also come up with big brand names around the world , which are into the business of these foods. But this food has affected humans in many ways, especially focusing on the Aggression and Patience level. So to know about this , a survey of around 23000 women who were pregnant was conducted who ate junk food while pregnant, with the one who ate healthy food. It was widely acknowledged that children whose mother ate more junk food during her pregnancy, the children came out to be more aggressive and less patient. Thus the effect of this junk food could widely be seen.

Junk food lacks the main nutrients, vitamins and protein responsible for helping normal humans to perform a number of activities in day to day life. Major thing which these lack is Omega-3 which is responsible for major functioning in our body and helps to fight anxiety and depression, and reduces heart related risk. This was also tested while experiments on Mice as mice-1 was given protein and vitamin rich good while other was provided junk food lacking, Omega-3 , so it was recorded that in the mice who’s diet was rich in vitamin, protein was seen to be calm and healthy whichever the one who’s diet lack vitamins and protein and basically Omega-3 show symptom of anxiety and stress by moving around.

Food and what we eat, do have an effect in our actions and decisions which we perform. If we eat healthy, our mind feels fresh and more often takes decisions in a calm and peaceful manner, while if we eat food which lacks these things, the conditions are reversed. This was seen I’m an experiment where 2 scenarios were taken.

  1. First case the participants were given junk food before the experiment.
  2. The participants were given healthy, protein, and vitamin rich food.

The experiment was like that there will be two participants and the other participant will have 10 dollars, it’s his choice how he divides it between two. If you take the money irrespective of how it is divided, it’s yours but if you challenge the issue of division, then both lose and no one takes the money.

  1. So in the first case when participants went after eating junk food. They show some actions of aggression and impatience. The other participant divided 10 dollars as 2:8 . Which means that the participant would get just 2 dollars whichever the one dividing kept 8 . Most of the experiment resulted in no one taking money, as they fight back for equal share. This all came out if their sudden action due to lack of patience and thinking about.
  2. While in the second case where participants had better food, they seem to be calm and composed. When the other participant divided in the same ratio of 2:8 . Most of the participants believe to take more money than nothing.

So this shows that how food really affects our day to day actions and thus relates reactions to whatever we do.

There are many more significant researches which do show that how our eating habits do affect our actions, our way of dealing with tasks on day to day bases, and surely our health. So one must try to eat healthy food, irrespective of how it tastes or one likes it or not. It is the need of our body and we require it for performing day to day task in the right and peaceful way. One can have these junk for once in a while but including them in day to day lifestyle would surely have a bad impact on our “health” and surely our “relationship“.

“So one must focus on eating healthy , living healthy and thus behaving healthy”.

Worlds first “Internet controlled robot” By 23 year old Indian boy : Covid-19

A 23 year old Thane engineer has developed worlds first-of-its-kind internet controlled robot which can be used to treat covid patients in hospitals.

The robot delivers food, water, beverages, medicines and even some good advices to the patients without the help of any hospital nurses or staffs.

This aCoro-bot’ eliminates the need of physical presence or contact of nurses or ward boys with the patient. It can deliver food, water, medicines and interact with the patients through a camera. Through a speaker, it can also advise patients on various precautions like sanitizing their hands before picking up anything from the robotic tray,” Says Pratik tirodkar the creator and designer of this robot.

This smart boy is also the founder of a start up ‘PNT solutions’. Whatsmore this young lad had developed other unique creations when he had barely stepped to college. This include world’s first ‘Humanoid’ with 47 body (axis) movements, a robotic bird ornithopter for various outdoor applicationsapplications,  a mini packaging robot and several others.

This genius has even given over a 100 guest lectures to the brain students of IITs and NITs in the country.

This robot can be operated from any part of the world through internet. The robot comes with 3 trays with a carrying capacity of 10-15 kg each, plus a 30-kg storage at the bottom, enabling it to serve the supplies to over a dozen patients at a time in the COVID-19 ward.

There are separate dispensers for water, tea, coffee, besides sensors for sanitizers which flow out quickly when the patient holds his hand below it and cuts off the supply when the hand is removed. Thus there is minimum wastage,” Tirodkar explained.

“Not only the COVID-19 patients, Coro-bot can also take care of itself. It has three nozzles at the back to give itself a disinfectant bath regularly, it goes on spraying sanitisers on both sides of the path, plus disinfects the ground it moves on by using UV lights” Says the genius.

The Coro-bot also has LED lights illumination to make it convenient for night usage as well, timers for indicating lunch-dinner, emergency button, besides a small PC like screen on the top for basic computer work or entertainment, he said.

This is now successfully deployed at Holy Cross Hospital in kalyan. Impressed by this robot over a dozen of other hospitals have ordered coro-bot in Mumbai.

The Coro-bot costs between Rs 1.60-Rs.3.80 lakhs, depending on various specifications like the load-carrying capacity, etc, and the Ornithopter is around Rs 30,000. I have a small manufacturing unit at Dombivali, but if I can get a good investor, I can get into mass production,” he said.

Pratik tirodkar is currently doing his Btech in instrumentation engineering from Bharati  Vidyapeeth College of Engineering, Navi Mumbai.
