SENSE OF ENTITLEMENT

Sense of entitlement is a personality trait in which an individual believes that they deserve recognition or special treatment for something they didn’t earn. Its basically “YOU OWE ME” kind of attitude. They believe that the world owes them without giving anything in return.

Sense of entitlement is not always negative. But as quoted “Too much of anything is good for nothing” and it can affect a person both physically and mentally.

FACTORS:

Thought it is not exactly known how this mentality develops within a person, but the main reason can be due to social factors like The environment the person grew up in. The way parents and society treated the individual. How the person is been treated and The way the individual is been taught. All these can affect ones personal as well as professional life.

IMPACTS

Entitled people will be able to put up a nice and well mannered mask on the outside, but according to research deep down this is not how they feel about themselves or other individuals around them. Research also suggest that entitled people can also be dangerous at times. They assume themselves as superior and also take any challenges with anger and defensiveness. These create a vicious cycle, the more they are challenged by society’s limitations the more they become angry.

CYCLE OF ENTITLEMENT:

It follows a vicious 3-step cycle: The particular individual is always vulnerable to the threat of unmet expectations.  And even if the expectations are met, it may lead them to dissatisfaction. When that individual is upset they try to console themselves which results in self-reassurance that they deserve everything they wanted which in turn reinforces to the same entitled behavior.

TIPS TO OVERCOME:

Regardless of caste, color, creed and social status, we are all humans. So treat every individual as you would like to be treated. Treat your failure as a learning tool instead of being upset about it and make sure not to repeat the same mistakes twice. Go easy on others. If this is practiced overtime, you can learn ways to address issues of entitlement and how to live a healthy, balanced life.

High crop yield possible, Former NASA scientist makes amazing discovery

  • A former NASA scientist Parag Narvekar has created sensors to enhance farm produce for farmers in Nashik, Maharashtra. He claims that new sensors will assist farmers to understand the weather and adjust their use of irrigation and fertilisers. According to Narvekar, the new sensors are more cost-effective than the already existing ones and have made sensors of Rs 10,000 that earlier use to cost Rs 1.5 lakh.

Cost-effective Sensors to Improve Farm Produce

  • A resident of Nashik, Narvekar owns a company Sensartics that makes weather sensors and offers cost-effective solutions to farmers. Narvekar’s company has also collaborated in the past with more organisations to provide solutions to local farmers’ problems. In February this year, Sensartics collaborated with Sahyadri Farmers Producers Company (FPC) to establish sensors in Nashik’s grape farms to safeguard the farmers from losing their harvest because of odd weather. The team installs sensors at the root zone levels of the plants. These sensors calculated temperature, soil moisture and soil electrical conductivity. Sensors placed in the canopies measured humidity and leaf wetness other than temperature.
  • Narvekar, with his team at Sensartics, has also established village level local weather stations that can provide precise weather forecasts beneficial for the local farmers, the efforts of Narvekar and his company have brought state-of-the-art meteorological stations within the reach of farmers.
  • With this they Gained greater clarity around the potential of sensors to improve agriculture and food security.

How to cope up with “Anxiety”.

More than 10million cases are roaming here and there in India every year, and how can we say that it’s a very common disorder that people suffer from.

What is anxiety?

Well, anxiety is an emotion of fear, worry, and nervousness? When it responds it’s a feeling of fear or uncertainty about what is going to happen. It is your mind that tricks you or we can say when these kinda things happen. Usually, we control our minds but when the mind controls us this type of illness happens.

Most people suffer from anxiety and stress over time. Stress is any pressure placed on your brain or physical body, people can report feeling pointed up when many competing demands are placed on them. Anxiety and stress are not bad at all times, it can help you conquer a challenge or dangerous situation.

Mental health illnesses like anxiety can be characterized by feelings of worry, these are very strong enough to obstruct one’s daily activities. Once it gets started, then it will affect you in your daily life.

Worrying about finding a job, being embarrassed in certain social gatherings, feeling nervous before the examination, or having some personal relationship problems. Apart from all this, we can say that these were some examples of getting caught in the hands of Anxiety and stress.

Your mind is playing with you, it’s a natural thing, and if it’s so then you’re avoiding problems due to unreasonable fears, worrying more
often, or experiencing severe anxiety constantly for weeks and now it’s time to seek help.
If you see, mental illness is a type of health condition where we can see changes in feeling, reasoning, or attitude and it is correlated with distress or problems functioning in social, job, or family activities.

We are talking about how to cope with anxiety. So, let us show you how to deal with your Anxiety using “coping skills”.

Coping Skills:

Coping skill is the skill that uses cognitive and behavioral techniques to regulate the needs of a situation when these are appraised as taxing or overstepping someone’s reserves or to lower the negative emotions and disputes which were affected by stress. Managing your anxiety well can help you feel better physically and psychologically.

These are some coping strategies that can help you to deal with your anxiety.

Take a break.

When you’re suffering from anxiety, you don’t have any control over yourself, your mind overlooks you and you’ll feel disturbed. So, take a break, you can practice yoga, meditation can also make you calm as well. Breathing suitably can make you fight problems such as hyperventilation or chest tightness caused by anxiety. Having a nice massage can be a nice way to reduce anxiety, soothing music can also make you less anxious. With all these relaxation techniques, Aromatherapy and Hydrotherapy can also help you to reduce anxiety.

Eat Properly.

While suffering from stress or anxiety you have fewer cravings, you just start to miss your meals, and if you’re doing so then just stop it. Start to eat and make sure you eat healthily and regularly, don’t miss any of your meals, and make sure you drink water in more quantity, limit your alcohol and caffeine intake, or if it’s possible then just stop consuming these things which can create panic attacks. More water can reduce the level of anxiety and stress if you’re in a hurry or you have work to do. Just bring out some healthful and energy-boosting snacks on your hand.

Sleep is essential.

When you’re under stress your body needs more sleep than usual, so if your body needs extra sleep then just go with the flow. Stop thinking to stop all the things which are coming into your mind and making you overthink or making you desperate about anything. Just make sure you’re breathing properly, inhale, and exhale gradually, do it every day if you want.

Fitness suggestions.

Try to include at least 2 and half hours of moderate-intensity physical activity, for eg. brisk walking each week, 2 hours of an effective -intensity activity (such as jogging or swimming laps), or try to jog, walk, bike, or dance three to five times a week for 30 minutes.

Rather than perfect workouts, put small daily goals for aiming daily consistency to make yourself feel better. It’s fine to walk or run every day for 30 minutes instead of thinking of running in a half-day marathon. With a portable media player, you can also download your favorite audiobooks, podcasts, and music. If you’re doing your exercise then you should find a way to make it enjoyable.

If you’re kind of an introverted person, then try to find some forms of exercise that create excitement and are more enjoyable for you. You should also find an “exercise buddy”. With whois gets easier to stick with your exercise when you’re committed to your friend, beloved, or anyone of your loved ones.

And be patient, more than an exercise it’s about being considerate in all fields of your life. Being like this will adore you with all the prosperity and wellness in your personality as well as in your life. Don’t stop working on yourself, you don’t know how beautiful you are.

Encounter your illness.

To trigger your anxiousness, count to 10 slowly or you can count till 20. And try to follow the 3-3-3 rule, in this rule you need your ankle, fingers, and your arm, whenever you feel that your brain is moving very fast accordingly this trick can help you to center your mind.

Just try to evaluate yourself, don’t think about anything bad or about something that never happened to you or will happen to you. This is not you, your mind is tricking you to overthink about it, but you’ve to fight it.

Every time, when you overthink something just ask yourself, Is it as bad as we think? Your soul will tell you the answer, ‘No’ it isn’t. No matter what your mind says, just put everything in a viewpoint and you will know the answer.

Keeping a positive attitude and good humor will make you live happily and will make you less overthink about the things which are causing trouble to you. Believe that, you were not like that and now whatever it is, it’s not you. Be confident about yourself, make a positive effort to replace negative emotions, opinions, and thoughts, and try to be in a circle with positive people.

Make yourself involved in the works or activities you love or you can be a volunteer. But, just try to be effective in a way that you feel light, active and make you fall in love with the work you do. More than that it builds a support network and gives you a break from everyday stress.

You can start journaling to recognize the problems, it can be your work, family, social gatherings or it is something else. Whatever it is you’ll find the way.

Don’t get introverted with yourself, keep in mind that you’re not an individual, when your loved ones love you or if they are worried about you. Talk to them about your problems, start to share about everything which is making you stop. Discuss what to do further, just don’t compare yourself with your loved ones while having these types of discussions.

And if there’s nothing then just confess that how much you love them, how and why you’re feeling overwhelmed to have them in your life. Tell everything about what you wanted to tell from a long time. Because, there is no one else apart your family, friends and your beloved.

So these were the ways to cope up with your anxiety, and thank you so much for reading this blog and if you want to see blogs and news like this, stay connected to eduindex.org

5 signs your mind is warning you about mental illness

What classifies as an abnormal behavior? How to differentiate between normal and abnormal thoughts/ actions and behavior? Who gets to decide them and their treatments?

It often feels like walking on eggshells when we discuss what is abnormal and what isn’t. In a societal context, the kind of behavior which is often seen, encouraged, and occurs frequently is called “Normal Behavior”. The sort of behavior and actions that are rare and deviates from social norms are regarded as “Abnormal Behavior”. But deviance from social norms cannot be always labeled as abnormal behavior since it is subjective to one community.

The situational context i.e., the social settings or circumstances which preceded or continued when the event occurred makes a significant difference in how thinking or behavior is labeled. For instance, let’s take phobias. A person comes to a therapist saying that they have severe anxiety and fear when they people’s hands or balloons or cheese. This would have been taken as something absurd since it was unheard of. But now, a therapist might discover that a traumatic event occurred when they were exposed to hands, balloons, or cheese which made them develop chirophobia, globophobia, and theophobia respectively.

The thinking or behavior which significantly disrupt one’s thought processes or course of actions, which affects themselves or/ and affects people around them can be termed as maladaptive or abnormal behavior. Maladaptive behavior or thinking also means that a person finds it hard to adapt to day-to-day living. It is the key element in the definition of abnormality.

Well, how do psychologists decide what is abnormal?

Rather than pinpointing what is abnormal, psychologists tend to focus on how effectively one deals with daily encounters with the world, the levels of distress it is causing an individual, and their reactions to them. To get a clear picture of what’s going on, individual and professional psychologists must take in all factors while determining whether one’s functioning and behavior are significantly affecting their lifestyle. (But remember that the main objective is to figure out what is causing them; be it biological or mental factors, to find out how to cure the mental obstacles or find an effective way to lessen their intensity. It isn’t you, rather it’s just a part of you. Abnormality and insanity are completely different)

Psychopathology – The study of behavior and psychological dysfunction.

Few symptoms:

Firstly, never self-diagnose! If you feel strongly regarding these signs, find a professional psychologist who feels right to you, share your thoughts and experiences and have a healthy discussion about what you researched and clear out doubts. Be open to every possibility and kudos for taking a step to care, help and love yourself.

  1. Getting easily annoyed and having a hard time handling frustrations and urges.
  2. After having dealt with a traumatic experience, has the thinking or behavior been unusual? It can range from subtle isolation to severe panic while dealing with a stranger or a familiar course of events (that previously led to the trauma).
  3. Does thinking or behavior go against the social norms? (P.s Norms change over time)
  4. An extreme change in moods and lifestyle.
  5. Certain news, course of events, or items (Triggers) that affect your ability to function or causes significant subjective discomfort?

What gives birth to mental illness?

Psychodynamic view: It includes Freud’s belief which emphasizes that unconscious psychological process (The wishes, urges, and fear which we suppress creates conflict outside of a person’s consciousness), childhood experiences, and environment before birth influences our thoughts and behaviors. To keep the repressed thoughts from resurfacing, disordered functioning aka defense mechanism develops as a way to keep them contained.

Cognitive perspective: It talks about how we think about a problem interfered by disordered thoughts which leads to mental disorders. One can overcome this by consciously using more rational cognitions. How we perceive, evaluate, and anticipate events tend to be negative and disruptive when interfered with mental blockages.

Biological view: This view beliefs that disorders are caused by organic or physical causes such as defective neurotransmitters, genetics, traumas to the brain, and basically neuroanatomy. For instance, personality traits are influenced by genetic inheritance, and in disorders like schizophrenia, dopamine levels are believed to play a part as well as differences in the brain anatomy.

Behaviorists believe that just like normal behavior we learn abnormal behavior influences largely by conditioning and observational learning. For example, children with parents who deal with substance abuse or an environment with violent circumstances give birth to various coping mechanisms which might be healthy or unhealthy.

Although, just like we can learn all kinds of behavior, we can unlearn them too.

How to find the right treatment(s) for you?

Well, Trial and error! Having a medical professional gives you a safe room to mistakes, share and learn from your experiences and find more therapies the right way. Psychotherapy and biomedical therapies are common courses of treatment.

Psychotherapy includes insight therapies; the main goal here is to help both mentally healthy and psychologically disordered persons try to understand their motives and actions, action therapy (more focused on changing behavior rather than insights), and more. The main goal is to resolve the issues from their roots, learning and unlearning behaviors and developing healthy habits.

Biomedical therapy includes the usage of medicine, surgical methods, and noninvasive stimulation techniques. Antipsychotics, antidepressants, anti-cycling agents, and hypnoanxiolytics are the main classes of psychiatric medications.

Note that, biomedical therapy is used to alleviate or eliminate symptoms of disorders. Sometimes, biomedical and psychotherapy go hand in hand. When it comes to treating psychological disorders, I believe that cure can have a variety of meanings. Many behavioral disorders cannot be cured but with proper treatment, one can live a productive and happy life which usually accounts for the cure of the disorder.

PANDORA EFFECT: Why curiosity usually beats the common sense.

Curiosity killed the cat, but for a while I was a suspect.

What is pandora effect?

The relentless human desire to know – to satisfy curiosity at all costs –People are more likely to open the box if the outcome is uncertain and expectedly negative than if the outcome is certain and neutral or certain and negative can be more of a curse than a blessing,. We refer to this effect as the Pandora effect.

Whether it’s surreptitiously checking your partner’s phone for signs of infidelity, avidly reading celebrity gossip mags, or hunting people down on social media, too much curiosity can be like opening Pandora’s Box: the urge to do it can outweigh any benefits you might get from knowing, and it can seriously affect your happiness and wellbeing.

Opening the box

Curiosity is a spark behind the ……..

The researchers provided volunteers with a box containing prank pens that gave anyone clicking the button at the top a painful but harmless electric shock. The participants were randomly allocated a box containing either pens with a certain outcome or pens with an uncertain outcome. One group were given five pens with red stickers telling them the pens would give an electric shock and five pens with green stickers indicating the pens wouldn’t give an electric shock. The participants in the uncertain outcome group were given 10 pens all marked with yellow stickers indicating that they might or might not give a shock.

It turned out that the volunteers were far more likely to click the uncertain pens than either of the other sets of pens, and even more than both of the certain groups combined.

Curiosity leading to unpleasant experience

The cure for boredom is curiosity but there is no cure for curiosity.

Results like this show we have an innate desire to resolve uncertainty even if we know that doing so will have no positive effect and may even be unpleasant. The researchers suggest that we might make better decisions in life if we first stop and consider whether our choices will have positive or negative outcomes.

Perhaps, for example, if we consider the harmful effects of rubbernecking before we see a motorway accident we can help protect ourselves from being overcome by curiosity and end up in an accident ourselves. But if the researchers’ hunch is correct, even if we know about the unpleasant consequence of curiosity, we are still likely to open that box.

Curiosity brings excitement in our life and makes it more interesting doesn’t mean that we should make choices that can hurt us just for fulfilling our desire of curiosity .

Sometimes it’s better to leave the things the way they are .

Smiling can trick your brain into happiness

Ever had someone tell you to cheer up and smile? It’s probably not the most welcomed advice, especially when you’re feeling sick, tired or just plain down in the dumps. But there’s actually good reason to turn that frown upside down, corny as it sounds. Science has shown that the mere act of smiling can lift your mood, lower stress, boost your immune system and possibly even prolong your life.
It’s a pretty backwards idea, isn’t it? Happiness is what makes us smile; how can the reverse also be true? The fact is, as Dr. Isha Gupta a neurologist from IGEA Brain and Spine explains, a smile spurs a chemical reaction in the brain, releasing certain hormones including dopamine and serotonin. “Dopamine increases our feelings of happiness. Serotonin release is associated with reduced stress. Low levels of serotonin are associated with depression and aggression,” says Dr. Gupta. “Low levels of dopamine are also associated with depression.”
Fake It Till You Make It
In other words, smiling can trick your brain into believing you’re happy which can then spur actual feelings of happiness. But it doesn’t end there. Dr. Murray Grossan, an ENT-otolaryngologist in Los Angeles points to the science of psychoneuroimmunology (the study of how the brain is connected to the immune system), asserting that it has been shown “over and over again” that depression weakens your immune system, while happiness on the other hand has been shown to boost our body’s resistance. “What’s crazy is that just the physical act of smiling can make a difference in building your immunity,” says Dr. Grossan. “When you smile, the brain sees the muscle [activity] and assumes that humor is happening.”
In a sense, the brain is a sucker for a grin. It doesn’t bother to sort out whether you’re smiling because you’re genuinely joyous, or because you’re just pretending.
“Even forcing a fake smile can legitimately reduce stress and lower your heart rate,” adds Dr. Sivan Finkel, a cosmetic dentist at NYC’s The Dental Parlour. “A study performed by a group at the University of Cardiff in Wales found that people who could not frown due to botox injections were happier on average than those who could frown.”
And there are plenty more studies out there to make you smile (or at least, serve as reference for why you should). Researchers at the University of Kansas published findings that smiling helps reduce the body’s response to stress and lower heart rate in tense situations; another study linked smiling to lower blood pressure, while yet another suggests that smiling leads to longevity. Studies aside, there are plenty of living, breathing, smiling humans who can testify to the fact that looking the part of happy helps them get through the day.

“Smiling absolutely changes the way I think and feel,” says Jaime Pfeffer, a success coach and meditation instructor based in Florida. “My husband and I purposely spend 60 seconds every morning smiling to supercharge our mood. It’s part of our morning routine. If something goes awry during the day, I usually use smiling to quickly shift my mood. It only take 10 to 15 seconds for it to make a difference for me now. It helps me to feel less stressed, transform my mood quickly and put things in a different perspective.”
Pfeffer adds that she recommends smiling to all her clients, particularly when they’re dealing with long days or tedious work. “One of my clients last week told me smiling for 30 seconds at a time a few times per day helps him stay upbeat when doing sales calls. He said the task can get old after a while, but the smiling helps him stay more energized and avoid burnout.” A smile’s contagion is so potent, that we may even be able to catch one from ourselves. Dr. Ritzo recommends smiling at yourself in the mirror, an act she says not only triggers our mirror neurons, but can also help us calm down and re-center if we’re feeling low or anxious.

It turns out there’s solid evidence that smiling can do us a world of good. Since researching this piece I’ve been conducting my own little smile experiments. I tried smiling when I tensed up in traffic yesterday, and again during a rigorous workout and then today when I woke up with a headache. I found that it feels completely incongruous to smile when I’m tense or tired, and there’s a strange sense of departing a comfort zone. But I have to admit, instantly I was calmer, less upset and, maybe just ever so slightly for a second, smiling made me feel happy.

Manifestation and the 369 method

The entire universe is conspiring to give you everything you want!

Abraham Hicks

The new fast-moving world indeed changes with every passing second, but along with its fast pace, the craze to access and achieve everything within a blink of an eye has found its place in the new modern world. With the growing network of TikTok’s and YouTube videos, the idea of manifesting your goals has taken over the lives of people around the globe. ‘Manifesting’ out of its traditional Cambridge dictionary explanation of to show something clearly, through signs or actions has now gained this broad meaning of practising inspirational thoughts to make them real. As the pandemic trapped us in a literal digital bubble, confined to our homes, “achieving things’” had a newfound meaning: to achieve is to manifest. During the year 2020, the google search logs showed a record surge in keyword Manifest. Google searches for the same were more than 669 per cent that year. Manifesting was the new addition to the bandwagon of crystals, essential oils and meditation.  While compared to its contemporaries, manifestation routines have gained widespread popularity due to the zero-cost investment and quick, miraculous effects.

Manifesting in simple terms is making something you want to happen by simply believing it will happen. What forms the base of manifestations is the law of attraction, which states that we attract what we focus on. There are several manifestation methods that you can find online, the vision board method, gratitude journal, two cup method etc. But the basic idea that it depends largely upon is the positive mindset a person has towards achieving a goal and a feeling of gratitude for all that he has already. One of the treading manifestation methods that were made famous by tiktokers was the 3,6,9 Method.

The 369 manifestation method is said to be inspired by Nikolas Tesla’s numerology obsession. He believed that the numbers 3, 6 and 9 had a unique connection to the universe. Numerology experts believe the numbers three, six and nine stands for positive energy nurturing and fulfilment.  It is a method of manifesting your goals by writing them down in a journal or a paper three times in the morning, six times in the evening and nine times before you sleep. To manifest a goal using this method, you’ll have to pen down your intention throughout the day. You start by writing your affirmation (the vision you want to manifest) three times in the morning in your journal/paper. During this time, visualise what you would feel, what would you do once you achieve what you are manifesting. In the afternoon, write your affirmation six times and express gratitude for whatever you already have. At night, before you wind up for the day, write your affirmation nine times and visualise the whole scenario and imagine what you might feel when you achieve your goal.

This technique helps you visualise your goal and bring about a positive change in how you look at your desires. The major takeaways from manifestation techniques are the importance of expressing gratitude and a positive outlook. So trust the process and believe in it until it manifests for you, for you become what you attract!

The whole country was under lockdown to break the chain of transmission but had a devastating impact on the country’s economy.

However, we should thankful for the advances made in the field of medical technology and research for the discovery of covid-19 vaccination. This will strengthen our fight against corona virus. Even after vaccination it is important to follow the covid appropriate behavior.

As extraordinary situations required extra ordinary measures, mandatory vaccination for all could help us to achieve herd immunity. This will help us to increase the capacity of healthcare system.

Why the need and demand increases with time?

High Time – This is the high time to make vaccination mandatory to protect the lives of people, protecting the vulnerable and preventing the devastating effect of lock down.

Public Safety – Clinical trials and ongoing researches have shown vaccinated people are at lower risk of developing severe diseases than the unvaccinated ones. Mortality is rare for fully vaccinated ones, researchers and scientists have developed vaccines which have negligible side effects and higher efficacy rates.

Continuous Supply – As per the current situation it is important to maintain the pace of vaccination drives to break the chain of transmission and to achieve herd immunity. The central and state governments should work in collaboration to make the vaccination drive successful by ensuring proper supply.

Healthcare System – Healthcare workers or frontline warriors should be fully vaccinated along with their family members. So, that everyone could be safe because they are the ones who are taking care of the patients in this time of emergency. Their safety should come first to strengthen healthcare infrastructure.

Unemployment

Unemployment has become one of the biggest problems around the world. When an individual is an implied, he or she will know very less about the mankind. It is so difficult to face situation and handle situations when the individual is unemployed. Unemployment leads to many silly mistakes. And an unemployed person cannot take over the family and lead the family as well. There is a huge competition in highly populated countries like India. In order to be employed, the only method is to study hard and improve the skills and score better. Basically, the students are not showing good amount of interest towards the studies. Let us now see how to motivate them.

Covid crisis has made many people unemployed. It has taken away the basic need of living. Many people are left with the unfilled stomachs. Some people are dead about by not finding a way to live.

Types of unemployment :

There are four main types of unemployment in an economy frictional, structural, cyclical, and seasonal and each has a different cause.

1. Frictional unemployment :

Frictional unemployment is caused by temporary transitions in workers lives, such as when a worker moves to a new city and has to find a new job. Frictional unemployment also includes people just entering the labor force, such as freshly graduated college students. It is the most common cause of unemployment, and it is always in effect in an economy.

2. Structural unemployment :

Structural unemployment is caused by a mismatch in the demographics of workers and the types of jobs available, either when there are jobs available that workers don’t have the skills for, or when there are workers availabes but no jobs to fill. Structural unemployment is most obvious in industries undergoing technological advancements.

3. Cyclical unemployment :

Cyclical unemployment is caused by declining demand. When there is not enough demand in an economy for goods and services, businesses cannot offer jobs . According to keynesian economics , cyclical unemployment is a natural result of the business cycle in times of recession: if all consumers become fearful at once, consumers will attempt to increase their saving at the same time, which means there will be a decrease in spending, and businesses will not be able to employ all employable workers.

4. Seasonal unemployment :

Seasonal unemployment is caused by different industries or parts of the labor market being available during different seasons. Fot instance, unemployment goes up in the winter months, because many agricultural jobs end oncr crops are have harvested in the fall, and those wotkers are left to find new jobs.

Consequences of unemployment in an Economy :

Low unemployment is key to economic stability High and long- term unemployment can cause significant stress on a nation in three key areas.

* Individuals :

Unemployed people have no ability to fulfill their financial obligations and can become mentally stressed, ill, and even homeless.

* Economic efficiency :

During times of high unemployment many job seekers will accept new jobs below their skill level, a situation called “underemployment ” which translates to a loss of human capital for an economys labor market. Unemployed workers will also significantly decreases their consumer spending, which is one of the driving forces of economic growth. Without consumer spending, the economy will slow dramatically.

* socio- political stability :

If unemployment remains high, citizen dissatisfaction can rise to the point of widespread civil unrest.

Possible solutions for Unemployment :

Solving unemployment is a hotly debated topic, and no economists agree on one simple way to do it. However, in the U.S ,if unemployment rises noticeably, the government usually steps in with specific policies designed to lower the total number of unemployed people.

1. Monetary policy :

Monetary policy is financial influence implemented by a central bank . Monetary policies usually come in the form of lower interest rates, which increase the total money supply within an economy by allowing banks and businesses more access to loans and therefore, more accessible spending power.

2. Fiscal policy :

If expansionary monetary policy doesn’t adequately lower the unemployment rate government agencies will turn to fiscal policy. Fiscal policy is fiscal stimulus implemented by the national government and fiscal policies include spending on infrastructure, proposingtax cuts , increasing the minimum wage, or implementing unemployment benefits. These methods are designed to inject more demand into private economy and strengthen economic activity.

Let us now see some of the ways to motivate the students to study and get employeed.

Make things easier :

Showing the things easier and explaining them with clarity helps the students to show better interest on the subject and makes them to pay more attention on what the teacher is trying to convey. When the topics are shown easier for the students, they start learning them and they feel achieved and they pay more attention to study. When a student learns a particular topic or a question, he/she feels comfortable and happy for getting it. Once if they start reading, they develop the interest in them and they continue to read more and more.

Tell the importance :

The students must be motivated with good number of words to understand the need of studying and what happens if they don’t study. A student is like a bird without the wings when they don’t study. So, it is very important to motivate students to study and to make them understand the need of the situation. Motivation brings the right change in the students who are not interested in learning. It develops the interest in them to study.

It seems good if the government provides good number of jobs.

Health Education

A sound mind lives in a sound body’.

Introduction

Health education is a profession of educating people about health. Areas within this profession encompass environmental health, physical health, social health, emotional health, intellectual health, and spiritual health, as well as sexual and reproductive health education.

Health education teaches about physical, mental, emotional and social health. It motivates students to improve and maintain their health, prevent disease, and reduce risky behaviours. It also focuses on emotional, mental and social health too. Educating students on the importance of health builds their motivation.

Health education is one strategy for implementing health promotion and disease prevention programs. Health education provides learning experiences on health topics. Health education strategies are tailored for their target population. Health education presents information to target populations on particular health topics, including the health benefits/threats they face, and provides tools to build capacity and support behavior change in an appropriate setting.

History

From the late nineteenth to the mid-twentieth century, the aim of public health was controlling the harm from infectious diseases, which were largely under control by the 1950s. By the mid 1970s it was clear that reducing illness, death, and rising health care costs could best be achieved through a focus on health promotion and disease prevention. At the heart of the new approach was the role of a health educator.

Code of ethics

The Health Education Code of Ethics has been a work in progress since approximately 1976, begun by the Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE).

“The Code of Ethics that has evolved from this long and arduous process is not seen as a completed project. Rather, it is envisioned as a living document that will continue to evolve as the practice of Health Education changes to meet the challenges of the new millennium.”

Importance of Health Education .

Health education builds student’s knowledge, skills, and positive attitudes about health. Health education teaches about physical, mental, emotional and social health. It motivates students to improve and maintain their health, prevent disease, and reduce risky behaviours.

Health education curricula and instruction help students to learn skills so that they will use to make healthy choices throughout their lifetime.

Health education teaches people of all ages about how diet and exercise contribute to a healthy lifestyle. It also encourages positive changes in behaviour and lowers the risk of addiction to drugs, alcohol and unsafe sexual practices. The majority of schools around the country have courses aimed at teaching health education to students. These courses often revolve around the body, healthy eating, sex and exercising. Some students are taught basic health and physical fitness early on. More in-depth courses are designed for middle and high school students.

Health education encourages a person to make healthy choices. They are instructed to avoid unhealthy habits. ‘A sound mind lives in a sound body’. Rabindranath Tagore and C.V. Raman, if they were confined to sick bed, could not have won the Nobel Prize. In fact, a sickly student with all his talents and abilities lags behind in the race of life.

Health education also teaches about the emotional and mental health of the student. A healthy person is the happiest person in the world.
