Post-traumatic Stress Disorder.

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is an phychological disorder that a person can face who has experienced or witnessed a traumatic event such as a natural disaster, terrorist attack, war/combat, rape, or death, sexual violence or serious injury.

People with PTSD have intense and annoying thoughts and feelings associated with their experience that last long after the traumatic event is over. One may relive the event through flashbacks and nightmares. They may feel sad, afraid, or angry. And they may feel separated or alienated from others. People with PTSD can avoid situations and people that are reminiscent of traumatic events and have a strong negative reaction to mundane things such as loud noises and accidental contact.

According to reports in context to United States, about 3.6% of people about 5.2 million adults develop PTSD in time of last year , and an estimated 7.8 million Americans will develop Women are more likely to develop PTSD than men. This may be because their are high chances that women are more likely to be victims of domestic violence, abuse and rape.

Symptoms:
• Intrusive thought: Intrusive thoughts such as repeated involuntary reminders. A miserable dream; or a flashback of a traumatic event. Flashbacks are so vivid that people feel like they are remembering or seeing the traumatic experience in front of them.
• Avoidance: Avoiding the memory of traumatic events may include avoiding people, places, activities, objects, and situations that can cause disastrous memory. People may try not to remember or think about traumatic events. They may resist talking about what happened and how it makes them feel.
• Mood changes and Behaviour : Negative thoughts and feelings that lead to persistent and distorted beliefs about oneself and others, such as not being able to remember important aspects of traumatic events. Distorted thoughts about the cause or effect of an event can lead to false accusations of yourself or others. Persistent fear, fear, anger, guilt, or shame. There is much less interest in the activities that I enjoyed before. Feeling alienated or alienated from others; or unable to experience positive emotions (lack of happiness or satisfaction).

Treatment:
It is important to note that not everyone who experiences trauma develops PTSD, and not everyone who develops PTSD requires psychiatric treatment. For some people, the symptoms of PTSD disappear over time. Others are better with the help of their support system (family, friends, etc) . However, many people with PTSD need specialized medical treatment to help recover from psychological stress. It is important to remember that trauma which causes the PTSD can lead to serious distress. The sooner a person is treated, the more likely one can recover fast from PTSD.
Psychiatrists and other mental health professionals use several effective ( authorized and proven) methods to help people recover from PTSD. Both talk therapy and medical dosage provide effective evidence-based treatment for PTSD.

Animal Cruelty is a heinous crime which should be stop .

Animal Cruelty :
Simply put, animal cruelty harms animals, whether intentional or negligent. While certain activities  such as animal cruelty are generally perceived as cruel, the specific actions that make up animal cruelty vary from person to person and from places to places or different countries. Many  argue that docking a piglet’s tail without anesthesia is cruel, while others say it is common in meat production to prevent injuries later  in the pig’s life.  Animal cruelty defination is different in different areas due to countries laws.
Animal abuse is an pervasive problem which often  is difficult to detect. No species or community is spared from experiencing animal cruelty and neglect. Understanding what animal cruelty means and what it doesn’t mean is one of the first steps to  prevent it from happening again. Animals, whether it’s the food, cosmetics, entertainment, or  pet industry, don’t deserve to suffer.

Is Animal Cruelty Illegal:
The legality of  animal cruelty depends largely  on where the activity takes place . For example,  cruelty to farms and laboratory animals that is illegal in some countries may not be considered banned animal cruelty in some countries, due to differences in national law. In the United States, the best-known legislation to prevent animal cruelty excludes both livestock and laboratory animals from registration.

Animal cruelty in India:
Recently, cases of animal cruelty are increasing in India. The same began to discuss animal rights and the extent of legal protection that  current law provides to animals. The problem is that most of these crimes are either unreported or face disappointing legal responses, as some of the 1960 Animal Cruelty Prevention  Act  and  the Indian Criminal Code are obsolete.
SS Rithika an social activist in context to animal writes about common scenarios of animal cruelty and current laws, procedures, and court decisions dealing with animal cruelty in India. Rithika is also pushing for amendments to these laws to curb the rise in atrocities against animals.

Law related to animal cruelty in India:
The Animal Cruelty Prevention Act of  1960 was amended in 1982. Under India’s newly amended 2011 Animal Welfare Act, animal abuse is a criminal offense  with a fine of at least 10,000 rupees, a fine of up to 25,000 rupees for the first violation, or upto two years of imprisonment. For the second and subsequent violations, a fine of 50,000 rupees or more  and imprisonment of 1 year or more upto 3 years or less. This amendment is currently awaiting approval by the Government of India.  The 1962 law is the law currently in force. The maximum fine under the 1962 Act is  50 rupees (less than $ 1). Many organizations, including  local SPCA, PF, A, Fosterdopt, etc., are actively involved in reporting cases of atrocities to police and assisting the general public in bringing perpetrators to justice. For this reason, there are many changes in the subcontinent.
Under IPC sections 428 and 429, causing mischief by killing or amputating an animal worth more than 10 rupees  is a recognizable crime punishable by two years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both.

All Addictions are Dangerous

Whenever the word ‘addiction’ pops up, people often connect it immediately to drugs, smoking or alcohol and deny to think further more. But getting used to anything beyond a limit, be it a coffee, food or shopping is an addiction and is equally dangerous.

While some of these addictions might appear more harmless on the surface, but in reality all of them limit your life in some way or the other. It’s important to try and quit if you recognize that a habit is taking over your life.

First, start by acknowledging the problem and then believe in yourself that with proper work you can overcome this problem. I am not telling that this would be easy, but surely it would be worth the effort. Take it day at a time. It can be intimidating in the start, but take baby steps to reach goal and don’t quit.

One day at a time….

Be optimistic, reach the root of the problem and take some time to truly understand where this habit comes from and how it is ruining your life and health. Sometimes contemplating on your mistakes can help you get rid of them once and for all.

Stay committed and do not leave mid-way. I promise you that your transformation will help you live a much more enriching, creative, free and empowering life.

Insomnia Or Insomniac?

Tell me what is it that makes you to say “I’m an Insomniac” or “I have a problem of not sleeping”. For some it can be a problem or a type of disease but, for many of them it is just using a cool word.

Hello pals, today let’s talk about this problem. Frankly, I don’t know if it is a problem or not, because there was time when I too couldn’t sleep in night but yes I was able to sleep in morning. There were time when night was the most enjoyable time in the whole day. And also there was a time when I can’t sleep because of thinking something.

It may be happening because you are tensed or worried about something to happen which you don’t have any control on it. So, what’s the point of this. I’m sure you have also thought about it, but, at last you put your hands down in makeing it right. There’s always a saying ” A healthy sleep is better then an apple a day”.

So, what ever it is that not letting you sleep is kind of wining over you. Let’s just think about it in this way, that what ever problem you are having is your enemy. And what an enemy always want to win, restless mind. So, if you don’t get a sleep for a required amount of time then it’s you who is letting your enemy or problem to win. In some way we can also say that if you are not sleeping because of something, yet you aren’t reaching somewhere in solving it, what if having a decent amount of sleep is the only key to solution. Try it, because I’m sure that trying this will give you less chance of loosing then not trying it.

And now, for those who think using the word Insomniac is cool. No, it is not. Because when you use it several times then your mind start believing it as a real problem. Just like, telling a lie 100 times makes it equal to a truth.

So, learn the difference between them and act wisely. And always remember, not sleeping because of some problem is actually a problem. So, now go and sleep.

See yaa..

Resting the body from exertionby the medicine of Sleeping

Article by – Shishir Tripathi

Intern at Hariyali Foundation
In collaboration with
Educational News

In the present world where everyone is running all the day and even night too, it is highly important to have a proper sleep schedule so that the body and the brain relaxes when the tiring day of an individual ends. Not only people working in offices, but also the women at home require rest after the tiring day doing all types of house chores. Kids in the family too need rest after playing all day.

Many working people who sit the entire day in front of computer/laptop screens, mobile phones/tablets, need rest after time to time. Doctors advise that doing eye exercises and yoga for people whose eyes are exposed to electronic screens for the entire day. In big offices, there are separate areas for relaxing after the office work ends or in between too.

The human body is not a machine to be taken work all the day and expecting the machine to do more work the next day that too at a faster speed and more energy.

Students these days are attending online classes all day long sitting in front of mobile phone or laptops. Continuous screen exposure is really very harmful for the eyes, for the spine and can cause severe headache and pain. Not only classes, children but the entire youth is continuously online on social media for hours with all the recent updates. Continuous usage of phone and electronic devices may ruin the sleep schedule and will cause disruption in the normal sleeping process. Many people come to the doctor, complaining that they want to sleep at night when they are in bed but couldn’t. Many psychological disorders and other physical disorders and abnormalities are harming the normal, regular sleep schedule of the person.

Women too doing all the kitchen chores and other chores including cleaning, dusting, washing and the endless work at home face regular ache in the body and if not treated at time can cause internal injuries in bones and severe pain that can last for the rest life. Women at home should take rest time-to-time so that any physical ache and headache should not trouble them any day.

People do different work and have different sort of lifestyles but the one most common way of resting the brain and the body is ‘Sleep’. Many people argue that we feel by sharing updates on our social media handles or by playing any game or by following a certain hobby, but the most appropriate way of resting is sleeping after a tiring day. If one requires, he or she can have short naps in their offices in between the work. But only short naps won’t work. An adequate sleep in bed is so important for proper working of the human body and its internal organs/glands too. When a person sleeps, his body is involved in healing and repairing of heart and blood vessels and sleep reduces the risk of heart disease, kidney disease, blood pressure and stroke. Sleeping and relaxing the body will help the person wake up with more energy and a joyful and calm mood too.

Many so called health conscious people say that one must not sleep in afternoon; otherwise they’ll not be able to sleep at night. It is true to some extent but not entirely correct for all the people. It is the basic fundamental of every machine that if one want more work from it then surely extra rest and extra care is required. If that extra care and attention is not given to a machine, it will be surely going to collapse one day. This was just an example to understand that if a person is doing more of physical and mental work all day, then he or she needs proportionate rest too at the end of the day to release all the exertion of the day.

Experts say that 6-8 hours of sleep is required by the human body. But actually it is up to the person that how much he or she is tired, how much physical or mental exertion he or she is exposed to? It is purely a person’s own choice to sleep as per his awareness and benefits of sleep and his exertion from work.
The best way to sleep is either sleeping on the back with straight body and facing up towards the ceiling or sleeping towards the left side. Moreover sleeping towards the life side is considered good because it helps the body to clear intestinal waste from the brain and reduces the risk of developing Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and other neurological diseases.

So these were the benefits of taking rest and sleeping but still for the people who sleep a lot, there are disadvantages too. For people who are the least tired and sleep a lot (oversleeping basically) it can cause problems like obesity, heart disease, diabetes, increased pain and inflammation, cognitive impairment, impaired fertility, depression etc.

Therefore, one must take rest as per he or she takes work from his or her body and at the same time oversleeping and resting without doing anything will even cause severe problems.

So have adequate rest and work with full enthusiasm and energy.

It’s Alzheimer’s Month

Dementia is an umbrella term for several diseases affecting memory, other cognitive abilities, and behavior that interfere significantly with someone’s ability to maintain their activities of daily living. These functions include memory, language skills, visual perception, problem-solving, self-management, and the ability to focus and pay attention. Some people with dementia cannot control their emotions, and their personalities may change. Dementia ranges in severity from the mildest stage, when it is just beginning to affect a person’s functioning, to the most severe stage, when the person must depend completely on others for basic activities of living. Although age is the most known risk factor for dementia, it is not a normal part of aging.

Fifty million people worldwide currently live with dementia, a condition that causes significant psychological burden as well as social and financial distress to those living with it, their carers, and families. There are nearly 10 million new cases every year. Two in three people with dementia live in low- and middle-income countries.

There is often a lack of awareness and understanding of dementia, resulting in stigmatization and barriers to diagnosis and care. The impact of dementia on carers, family, and society at large can be physical, psychological, social, and economical.

There are many different forms of dementia. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form and may contribute to 60–70% of cases. Other major forms include vascular dementia, dementia with Lewy bodies (abnormal aggregates of protein that develop inside nerve cells), and a group of diseases that contribute to frontotemporal dementia (degeneration of the frontal lobe of the brain). The boundaries between different forms of dementia are indistinct and mixed forms often co-exist.

There is no treatment currently available to cure dementia or to alter its progressive course. Numerous new treatments are being investigated in various stages of clinical trials. The principal goals for dementia care are:

1.Early diagnosis to promote early and optimal management

The early stage of dementia is often overlooked, because the onset is gradual. Common symptoms include: forgetfulness, losing track of the time and becoming lost in familiar places.

2.Optimizing physical health, cognition, activity and well-being

As dementia progresses to the middle stage, the signs and symptoms become clearer and more restricting. These include:

  • becoming forgetful of recent events and people’s names
  • becoming lost at home
  • having increasing difficulty with communication
  • needing help with personal care
  • experiencing behaviour changes, including wandering and repeated questioning.

3.Identifying and treating accompanying physical illness

The late stage of dementia is one of near total dependence and inactivity. Memory disturbances are serious and the physical signs and symptoms become more obvious. Symptoms include:

  • becoming unaware of the time and place
  • having difficulty recognizing relatives and friends
  • having an increasing need for assisted self-care
  • having difficulty walking
  • experiencing behaviour changes that may escalate and include aggression.

4.Detecting and treating challenging behavioural and psychological symptoms

The following are used to temporarily improve dementia symptoms.

  • Cholinesterase inhibitors. These medications — including donepezil (Aricept), rivastigmine (Exelon) and galantamine (Razadyne) — work by boosting levels of a chemical messenger involved in memory and judgment.
  • Side effects can include nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Other possible side effects include slowed heart rate, fainting and sleep disturbances.
  • Memantine. Memantine (Namenda) works by regulating the activity of glutamate, another chemical messenger involved in brain functions, such as learning and memory. In some cases, memantine is prescribed with a cholinesterase inhibitor.
  • A common side effect of memantine is dizziness.
  • Other medications. Your doctor might prescribe medications to treat other symptoms or conditions, such as depression, sleep disturbances, hallucinations, parkinsonism or agitation.

Several dementia symptoms and behavior problems might be treated initially using non drug approaches, such as:

  • Occupational therapy. An occupational therapist can show you how to make your home safer and teach coping behaviors. The purpose is to prevent accidents, such as falls; manage behavior; and prepare you for the dementia progression.
  • Modifying the environment. Reducing clutter and noise can make it easier for someone with dementia to focus and function. You might need to hide objects that can threaten safety, such as knives and car keys. Monitoring systems can alert you if the person with dementia wanders.
  • Simplifying tasks. Break tasks into easier steps and focus on success, not failure. Structure and routine also help reduce confusion in people with dementia.

5.Providing information and long-term support to carers.

Dementia symptoms and behavior problems will progress over time. Caregivers might try the following suggestions:

· Enhance communication

· Encourage exercise

· Engage in activity

· Establish a nighttime ritual

· Keep a calendar

· Plan for the future

· Learn as much as you can about memory loss and dementia.

Attachment to folks that creates stress in your life isn’t good for your physical, emotional and psychological state .

There are people that only speak of their troubles and problems and suck the energy of the people around them. they’re often focused on themselves, and aren’t really curious about people . it’s tiring and exhausting to be around such people.

Positive Affirmations Can Change Your Life

Positive Affirmations Can Change Your Life

Positive affirmations are positive statements or sentences about something that you simply wish to make in your life. These positive statements or sentences are repeated mentally or aloud. This process triggers the subconscious mind to accept them and start helping you to achieve them.

These positive affirmations are most helpful when repeated with faith and a spotlight . They get engraved on the subconscious mind, which in turn, looks for ways to make them come true.

Positive Affirmations Can Help in Many Situations
Positive affirmations can encourage you when facing a drag .
They can motivate you once you lack enough motivation.
They can inspire you when you need inspiration.
They can give you hope and inner strength in time of need.
They can help you build new, good habits.
They can help you fix your attention on your goals.
They can even attract to you the things you want.
Actually, you’ve got most likely used affirmations repeatedly , both negative and positive affirmations, without knowing that you simply are repeating affirmations.

What Are Positive Affirmations?
These are positive, inspiring and inspiring statements about something that you simply want to happen, get, or achieve.

Here are a few examples of positive affirmations:

“I can get this job.”
“I am going to get good grades at school.”
“I have love in my life.”
“I can shape my body and look good.”
“I am earning a lot of money.”
What Are Negative Affirmations
These are negative statements and words. A great number of people think negatively, have low self-esteem and expect problems, difficulties or bad things to happen to them. They often believe their problems, tell themselves how difficult life is, which they are doing not have money or that no-one loves them.

In this way, they recreate their negative reality, rather than changing it with the assistance of positive affirmations.

Here are a few examples of negative affirmations:

“I will never get a good job.”
“It is so tough to find love.”
“I am always so tired.”
“I can’t learn a new language.”
“I don’t have enough money.”
These negative statements make you feel bad, miserable and unhappy, and do not allow you to change your thoughts, change your viewpoint and change your life.

If, once you face problems and difficulties, you permit yourself to feel miserable, and repeat in your mind how miserable you’re , you’re making the issues and misery bigger and invite them into your life. You teach your mind to expect problems and difficulties and to look for them.
Positive Affirmations Can Change Your Life
On the opposite hand, if you refuse to wallow in self-pity and bad feelings, and instead, repeat positive affirmations about how you would like your life to be and the way skilled or talented you are, things will start to change for the better and they will continue to do so.

Repeating positive affirmations may be a very simple process, but you would like a particular positive attitude for them to figure . You should not allow your negative thoughts to win.

The Best Ways to Become Motivated Again

Every day we are faced with opportunities. Opportunities to change old habits, old fears, old mindsets that are harmful. Within the span of day , we’ve the prospect to awaken refreshed and begin anew. And sometimes, this suggests breaking down your actions step-by-step so as to rework yourself into who you would like to be.

For me, this entailed the concept of fighting my lack of motivation. Although most of the people believe motivation is that the opposite of procrastination, the 2 are in slightly different categories; procrastination is that the action of adjourning something until the top of its deadline, while motivation is that the reason behind one’s actions.

Like many of us within the world, I personally struggle with lack of motivation. After taking a while to look within myself, I even have discovered the essential ways to kick my mind back to gear. I not only found the way to stop procrastinating, but to also have a positive outlook so that the reasons for my actions would be encouraging and progressive.

  1. Morning Actions Are Key
When I used to wake up in the morning, I went into autopilot mode. I quickly learned that my version of autopilot only included the actions I wanted to try to to , not what I needed to try to to . But the core of my issue was that I never really knew what I needed to do.

To make every day count as something productive, I make small choices that make an outsized impact.

Instead of hitting the snooze button first thing in the morning, I wake up at the initial chime of my alarm clock.

Instead of scrolling through social media on my phone or answering emails, I make my bed or cook breakfast.

When I have a way of accomplishment at the beginning of my day, even with small actions, I start momentum for accomplishing tasks for the remainder of the day.

  1. Do Anything to Keep Moving
Sometimes, my mind turns simple daily tasks into large, insurmountable projects. It can feel crippling just to think about what I have to do next. I would often lay in bed within the morning, stare at the ceiling, and just ponder all that I had to try to to for the day. It became incredibly overwhelming, and more often than not, I would not complete most of my tasks.

To regain motivation during this way, I break down my day into smaller pieces. When I focus on one task at a time and set a reasonable time limit for myself to accomplish each task, I’m not worried about the future or regretting past actions. I allow myself to stay in the present.

Of course, I realize i’ll have some off days where everything looks like a struggle. If this is the case, I tell myself to just do something small. Just get out of bed and put your feet on the floor. Just check the first three emails in your inbox.
Once I became victorious with the actions that seemed insignificant, I felt much more empowered to take on important tasks.

  1. Believe in Yourself
It’s easy to get in the cycle of self-doubt. I will be the primary to mention that i’m my worst critic. However, I will never have a reason to do something if I don’t truly believe that I can succeed. Confidence are often attained even through the foremost minor actions.

Look within the mirror and tell yourself, I can do it!
Stand or sit up straight.
Get dressed up for the occasion.
When I took these small steps to spice up my confidence, I renewed my inner strength. I knew i used to be perfectly capable of handling anything to return my way.

  1. Create a Positive Environment
Achieving my goals came a lot easier to me when I surrounded myself with the right people. Sure, i’m capable of proving naysayers wrong, but the trend of regaining my motivation only came once I placed myself during a positive environment. I consistently had people lifting me up rather than tearing me down, which made me feel unstoppable.

Environment goes beyond a network of individuals , though. I also give myself a pleasing atmosphere to figure in. My desk is neat, my papers are organized, and that i have a routine I follow within my workspace in order that I don’t become mentally cluttered.

I also add comforts like my favorite color around my work area, pictures of friends and family on my desk, and posters or knick knacks that make me smile

  1. Remember Your Short and Long-Term Reasons
Why are you starting this project? Are you contributing to your overall career? Are you working toward a selected degree or credential?

Whenever I’m feeling stuck about what i want to try to to , I remind myself of what I’m getting to gain from the experience. Most importantly, I don’t allow myself to settle for losses.

However, if I’m in the process of working toward a goal and I feel unsatisfied or I believe my goal needs to be adapted, I’ll grant myself the ability to change along the way. This takes discernment of when to be creative and flexible, but really, it’s all about knowing what you are and are not willing to compromise.

  1. Pause and Recharge
There’s nothing wrong with taking breaks, especially if the action is overwhelming. If you’ve got been taking the means , remember to hamper every now then .
As a person’s being, it’s essential for you to require time for yourself within the sort of self-care. Personally, I’ve noticed that once I take a minimum of an hour every day for myself, I become even more prepared to require on whatever tasks are before me. The goal here is to not be so burned out that you don’t even try again – it’s only that much harder to bounce back.

Taking a hot shower will wake you up and cause you to feel refreshed and clean.

Get out of your pajamas or night attire and into something you are not ashamed of wearing outside your home. When you look pleasantly, you feel worthwhile, and when you feel worthwhile, it is a self-esteem boost.

Someone once told me when you’re depressed, take a shower, and wash your troubles away. So I go with that. On many occasions, I even have hauled myself literally crying to the shower, trying to scrub away depression. There is something about crying your sadness away within the shower that creates you are feeling somewhat revived.

  1. Put On A Happy Face

Put on some make-up, fix your hair up, shave that stubble off. Sometimes, with depression, we don’t take beneficial care of ourselves as we normally would. When you feel clean, refreshed, and polished, it’s harder to think less of yourself.

By doing my hair, I add the gel and blow dry it for a moment , and that i am good to travel . My hair is wild usually. Which is fine. If it is clean, I feel better. So get going and placed on that happy face.

  1. Tidy Up

Clean up and organize you living area. When our surroundings are dark, dirty, or messy, you start to reflect that atmosphere, falling deeper into depression.

Keeping your work and lebensraum clean, well-lit, and maintained, causes you to feel good about accomplishing something.

Keep the curtains open, let the sunshine through. It’s a good way of getting your daily dose of vitamin D. I rarely shut my curtains. I have a glass slider and a bedroom window. So, whatever sun I can get i’m optimistic. So vacuum, dust, and start cleaning your house or apartment.

  1. Listen to Music

Crank up the radio, or put on a DVD and dance. Strut around the house footloose and fancy free. There are all kinds of music that will get you moving if you just motivate yourself. Irish, Latin, Salsa, Reggae and more. Find something that you can move to, something up-beat and cheerful. Something that gets you moving and motivated. Let the music guide you into a better place.

  1. No Procrastinating

Tackle something you’ve been putting off doing. Even small accomplishments start your day by giving your self-confidence the increase it needs. If you are a writer and you like to write an essay or paper, write.

Take pictures, knit, clean out the attic you’ve got been aiming to do. If I can get one article done each day , I even have accomplished something. I attempt to get a 4 page article finished a minimum of four days week. TRY being the main word. Accomplishing one activity, one day at a time.

Working Through Depression

These things are not going to work without a concentrated effort. For the steps to work you must take an active role in your depression.

Sleeping is one of the safest activities to do when you are depressed. And at times, that is all you can do. But at one point, you’re going to have to come out from under the covers and find the light. “Not all scars are visible”- Mental health

You might consider yourself to be physically healthful but do you possess a healthy state of mind? How frequently do you consider mental pressure, anxiety or an ill mood? We all must be conscious of the point that a healthy mind as well as a healthy body, both are a part of what makes us whole. Consequently, looking after mental health is as fundamental as caring for the physical health.

A healthy mind encompasses the ability of individuals that allows him or her to withstand the stressful and troublesome situations of life, work productively and contribute their presence in the community. But multiple times people are not competent to look after what they think intense in their minds. That is when the mental disorder begins. A consequence of which they might suffer from depression, anxiety, autism, schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, dementia and many more. These disturbances makes them feel sad and makes their mood low. They may face severe mood fluctuations of highs and lows and make them unable to cope with even simple life problems. They may face problems while concentrating and have reduced ability to think keeping them confused all day long.

Accordingly, factors that may affect mental health are:

  • Abuse: This may be physical, sexual, oral or psychological.
  • Physical indisposition: This includes diseases, injuries or other physical disabilities.
  • Social connections: Includes any separation, divorce, family loss etc.
  • Difficult characters: people who exhibit irrelevant behaviour, extreme lying, violence, inappropriate actions.

Have you ever heard about the terminology D.O.S.E?

If not, then this might surprise you as holding a healthy mind starts right here. D.O.S.E exists for Dopamine, Oxytocin, Serotonin and Endorphins. Dopamine among the four is the fundamental chemical that emanate positive emotions in the body. Let’s understand how these chemicals function:

Dopamine: This is something that we can consider as ‘The Happiness Drug’. This motivates us towards our goal that we aspire to accomplish in our existences. Without Dopamine one never would have had the enthusiasm to achieve what they strive for, and the essential happiness We may also refer it to the slight joy that we feel in out day to day life.

How to retain a Healthy Mind?

Now as we know that a healthy mind prepares a happy mind, we also need to comprehend how to do so. A healthy mind is what helps us throughout our entire being therefore the following could be done for our mental health:

  • Being active: Exercising will support the physical as well as mental health.
  • Talk to yourself: Make time and efforts into bridging relations with yourself, keep telling yourself that You are worth enough.
  • Keep learning: Keeping the mind healthy; learning new skills, languages, sports, information etc. has proved constructive.
  • Quit the addiction: Healthy mind is related to a healthy body, any alcoholic or drug addiction would impede the situation.

An unhealthy mind is considered the worst place to be. This state of mind would make you either win or vanish. Make some time for your mind. Care for it and it would take care of you.
